Chino was amazing! I recently moved up the street from Magnolia Shopping Center, and this was my very first time trying Magnolia Barbershop. I've been going to the same barber for almost two decades, so I'm extremely picky and hesitant when it comes to haircuts. But since this spot was within walking distance, I decided to give it a shot. From the moment I walked in, Chino made me feel welcomed. He asked all the right questions, and it honestly felt like I'd been coming there for years. The atmosphere in the shop is great, too. Most importantly, I love my haircut. I've been told by other barbers that my hair is difficult to work with because of the texture and the couple of hair swirls on the sides that make fading and styling tricky. Not for Chino. His experience definitely showed, and he absolutely did his thing. I just finished styling my hair at home, and it already feels like I've been going to him for a long time. Marcos came recommended and so I went to the his barbershop today to make an appointment with him. He gave me some else's business card to make an appointment with. I asked what his next available appointment was and he said, "not until next week" I said fine, I would like to make that appointment with you. He reiterated to me that this other person could cut my hair today. So it was not a good experience for me and now I would not even feel comfortable having Marcos cut my hair. read more

Easily the worst experience of my life. Six inches of hair, four months, gone. I asked repeatedly that they stop cutting. Chunks of hair missing, uneven shave, and an interview today at 2PM. I have the equivalent of a "let me talk to your manager" "Karen" haircut. It's a nightmare. These are not trained barbers. These are "walk in" only, pick your haircut from an outdated booklet. A few friends recommended me to this place after I was in dire need of a hair cut. Keep in mind I haven't had a different barber in 7+ years but had no choice but to find a new one after moving to the area for school. Got hooked up with a fresh cut by Marcos and he gave me exactly what I needed. Asked for a 2 bald fade and it came out super crisp. Edges looked good, blends and transitions looked real smooth. This place is priced exactly how it should be with the clean and quick service you get. Not much of a wait if you go in the morning. I'm sure it gets a bit busy later in the day but that's just what happens when you got a reputable shop with high demand. This place is an honest to goodness small town barbershop. Magnola Barber Shop is the place to go if you want a haircut with friendly barbers and quality service. The prices are very reasonable and the service is fast. Situated across the street from Supercuts, they often joke that this is the place you come to fix the damage that Supercuts did. You'll often find 3-4 guys working here, some of whom are are niners fans, all of whom are really nice. There's usually some sort of game on the big screen TV, so there's always something to do while you're getting your hair cut. read more

My fiancee decided to try this place out after being frustrated with the Supercuts across the street and their hour-long wait on a Thursday morning. Not to mention I usually have to trim quite a few hairs after he goes there.... Overall he had a good experience, and didn't mind paying a few extra bucks for a quality cut ($19 before tip). He got a buzz, a little longer on top than on the sides. Not sure the name of the guy who did it, but it looks good and there isn't anything I need to fix! Magnolia Barber Shop is one of the best in town. Chino and Marcos (owners), and Danny know how to handle the crowd. The shop is laid-back and welcoming, it serves young and older clients. I also must mention, they have recently added an A/C unit to the place (for those hot summer days). Depending on the time and day, the wait time can be anywhere from 15 mins. to 2+ hours. That shows the quality of haircut and treatment these guys give their customers. Shop has 2 tv's, which are usually showing sports. Waiting chairs are comfy, drinking water, candies for the kids (& adults), and there's plenty of parking. Horrible Holiday experience. I grew up in Goleta, came back here for some old memories but it became a nightmare. Called beforehand, they said 40 minute wait. I showed up, waited 90 minutes, and saw them pick other people in front of us like we didn't event exist. We were nice, polite, and courteous to the other customers. We walked out, I don't recommend this place and think you should go to another barber shop where they treat customers equally and fairly - especially right before Christmas. 1 STAR. read more

This is the best barbershop in the country (I have lived in different parts of California, Colorado, and Hawaii). I have been coming to this establishment since 2010. A close personal friend referred me to their shop after multiple letdowns at other barbershops, I got the best haircut I have ever received which I asked Marcos to decide what would look best for my head shape, and have been a repeat customer ever since. These passionate barbers are highly efficient with each customer's time, engage in great conversations (especially around sports), and genuinely care for their customers. I would highly recommend African-American men come to this barbershop, especially since there are not any black barbershops in the area. A message to the uninitiated: This is a cash only organization (go to the ATM before arriving), and wait times are not that bad (Saturdays are busy at certain times as anyone would expect). read more

One of the employees has left and that's a good thing because when he would cut my hair, my family would make fun of me for a whole week.
