It has been an absolute pleasure to have Ulises and his crew at Super Air Heating & Air Conditioning replace my 19 year old system. This company is a hidden gem in the Inland Empire area where it can be hard to find honest, fair, and dependable contractors, which Super Air has so far lived up to. When my 5-ton Lennox condenser/compressor died in early June when we had a few days of warm weather (fan wouldn't turn, hot air blowing from vents), I called up six top-rated companies that served the area (from Yelp and Google reviews). The first two companies diagnosed the system and concluded that the compressor was dead. They said replacing the compressor alone would take me back about $2500, and that other aging components would likely fail soon, so I agreed with their recommendation to replace the system with a new, more efficient system. Anyway, some of the companies, as expected, pressured me into signing a contract before I have had a chance to do my research. Fortunately, I listened to my gut and waited about a week while I researched a system that would meet my needs without breaking the bank. I called up Super Air and spoke with Ulises. He came to my house on a Saturday morning, mind you, he wore a mask, which I appreciated in the season of covid-19, and took a quick look at the old system, including the unit in my attic. He advised me that my ductwork was still in good shape and didn't need to be replaced. He was clear when he made his recommendations for either an Amana or Goodman 16 or 18-SEER system, and the financing that was available. I felt no pressure from him at all. Originally I was sold on the idea of just going with a Lennox system, which was among the most expensive in my comparisons, but my research showed that Goodman, though less well known, offered the best performance, quality, maintainability, and price. A few days later I called Ulises and asked for a quote for both a 5-ton and 3-ton Goodman 16-SEER system, as I had decided to replace both systems. His quote was $3000 less than the next best competitor, and this was for a pair of 2-stage units that came with lifetime warranties on the compressors and 10-year unit replacement warranties. He also includes in his quote a 5-year installation labor warranty, and 1-year free maintenance (a pre-winter check, as well as pre-summer next year). This was a no brainer, so I called Ulises and told him he got the job. I also signed up with the financing company he recommended, which offered a good deal and was approved without any issue. This was on a Monday and he gave me an estimated install date for Friday that same week. That Thursday, a lady from Super Air called me to remind me that Ulises and crew would arrive at 8 AM the following day to install the Goodman 5-ton system. As promised, at about 8 AM on Friday, Ulises, Jesus, and Brian showed up at my front door, all were wearing face coverings, and got to work. They laid down drop cloth and plastic sheets in all work areas and were respectful of my family and home the entire time. At around 11 AM, the Goodman delivery truck arrived and dropped off the hardware, and unfortunately, someone screwed up at the warehouse and sent the wrong condenser (a 4-ton instead of the 5-ton), which delayed the work. Once Ulises found out, he was quick to fetch the correct unit and had it at the site by 2 PM. Fortunately, the weather had cooled down quite a bit, so it wasn't too uncomfortable for the crew. Watching Ulises and his crew, I realized that these guys were the real deal--they had the training and experience, and worked well together--and I knew I made the right choice. They worked all the way to 7:30 PM to complete the installation of the 5-ton system. That, to me, is dedication, professionalism, and integrity on display! The new system came with a Honewell WiFi thermostat, which Ulises walked me through how to set up and use, as well as a UV air purifier. The 2-stage condenser unit was significantly quieter than the old unit (by about 50%), and I finally had cool air in my house! The crew came back, as promised, on Wednesday the following week to install the 3-ton system. This time, Isidro joined the team, but the crew nevertheless performed just as well. This time, all the hardware was spot on and they completed the work by 5:30 PM. They cleaned up all the work areas and hauled away all of the old equipment. Ulises once again walked me through on how to use the downstairs WiFi thermostat, and the unit worked flawlessly. I know this was a long review, but I wanted to show readers that, if you're ever in need of a new cooling/heating system, or just need service, you will be very pleased with Ulises and his crew at SUPER AIR. I really wish I would have called this place first! I could have saved myself a huge headache. Ulises is such a nice and helpful guy! He got my AC going the next morning so easily and quickly. -At first I called another larger company and they told me I needed a blower motor and tried to charge me double the going rate to install it. so i didn't do it. -The second place I called installed the motor for a fair price but it stopped working shortly after it was installed. -The third place I called refused to diagnose and repair, they only wanted to sell me a new furnace. -Finally I called Super Air and immediately Ulises knew what was wrong and he discovered that the other company had misdiagnosed the problem. He was able to swap out my computer board for a fair price and it was already in his truck so he did it on the same visit very quickly. Otherwise I would've had to have power extension kit installed on the air handler. His quote was about half of the 2nd lowest quote I got from 6 places I sent to. Who are we? My wife is a medical professional and I am primarily in Information Technology and equally skilled in customer service and sales/marketing. We always quality check our work and demand the same from others. How much research did we do? more than 9 months We practically read the specs and reviews for the top 7 major AC and Heater manufacturers in the US. We understood the terms and the technical specs after that much time researching. It helped a lot to know exactly what the AC and Heater companies were talking about when they were at our house making their presentations and even more helpful that we can ask technical questions and verify their answers. We (all the contractors and us) agreed on a new 5 ton compressor which is two stage or variable unit, same with the heater, new coils, flushing and cleaning of the lines, including the drain line. There was no need to redo the ducts after they were checked and had not been disturbed. And we got a thermostat that was wifi enabled. The warranty for the unit is industry standard and so is the labor warranty. How many estimates and meetings with contractors? 12 We went through all the 5 star rated companies around our area, riverside and orange county. It came down to two contractors, equally good in terms of rating, the brand and model of machines that they were offering at that price. The units were installed a month ago and only now am I writing the review because I always retain a certain amount of skepticism of the quality of the machines and the quality of the work. We are very pleased with the machines, and even more at the quality of work that they did. It was Ulises' wife who took our call and at that time he was busy installing a commercial unit on a roof but he still took the call. He was understanding of our need and set up an appointment for us to meet. He came on time, made his presentation and costs. I was not around. My wife would have already quality checked his character and rejected him if he showed any bad signs in terms of salesmanship, technical know how and customer service. I spoke to him once more about the brand he carries and negotiated for a final price. The price was more than fair compared to the other 10 contractors and was on target with our budget. They came to install on a Friday. it as a three man team, Jesus, Isidro and Ulises. Jesus and Isidro were equally likable fellows. They went for the work right away, hardly talking and very skillful and efficient. I was watching every step they make and it was a site to see. I could have taken a YouTube video of it and company's can use it for training. No step was overlooked. they were very neat and careful with their tools and equipment. The disassembly was done without incident and cleanly. The area where the compressor was to seat outside was leveled so that the new unit will seat right. Everywhere on the internet it will tell you that the reason AC units fail is in the installation. Their solder jobs were done right. So that no excess gas is trapped in the lines. This is one source of failure. They added a safety valves for the heater and air filter on that machine is so easy to get to for replacing. I am enjoying the quiet sound of an AC compressor and cooling effect for these summer months which I can easily control from my cell phone. I hope that this company continues to do their good job for the community with great customer service, good salesmanship/pricing, and superb skills in installation and assembly for more years to come.
