    Fisherman's Platter

Terrific roadside takeout. It's been there forever but we just tried it for tge first time and wow, you can't ask for better local fried seafood. Hubby and I shared the fisherman's platter ($36) and took home half for another day! And yes, it reheats well in an air fryer.

I'm a sucker for small off the road or off the wall or out of the norm eateries. When I saw Magoo's I knew I had to try it out. I opted for the gyro, Isabella opted for a hot dog with nothing on it. Both were excellent! The exterior is remarkable for its authenticity. The interior decor follows to perfection. This is 100% old school from the fries to the onion rings to the Frappes to the Banana Boats ($4.25!!!) All cones come with jimmies or nuts. If you can figure out the type of music playing please let me know. Canadian bluegrass?

Ok, I can say that I am as much of an expert when it comes to fried clams as anyone on the planet. Admittedly, I am quite particular. I like the batter more on the lighter side, so to truly maximize the flavor of the clams. I also like the clams with big fat bellies that explode in your mouth as you bite into them. That is exactly what you get at Magoo's! Crazy too because it's in the center part of the state, far from the ocean, yet these clams are much better than many of the touristy places you'll frequent on the coast of NH and Maine. Sure the place is an absolute dive; everything about Magoo's (expect for the food) is old, tired and outdated, but there is something kind of cool about that too! Trust me when I say that if you are a true lover of fried clams, you will walk away very happy after having a plate at Magoo's! Bon Appetite.

Enough for two small appetites to share!

Don't judge by outward appearance. All the food is prepared fresh and the serving size on the seafood is way beyond generous.

Lobster ravioli was very good and the bread to mop it up was excellent. The blueberry spinach salad I had was also very good with candied nuts. The cheesecake was average small in size for the price point. Let's just say... making a decision was not an issue. There are limited entrée options which gave me the impression that those were not the real crowd favorites. On the bright side, the restaurant wasn't busy at all, which made for a relaxed, unhurried dinner, which is always appreciated. Service was...ok. Not horrible, not memorable or friendly, just living comfortably in the "okay" lane. Food followed the same theme. My spouse ordered the fish and chips -- generous portion, but heavy on the breading/batter?there were regular cut fries, but piping hot and clearly fresh, so no complaints there. I went with the salmon. The lemon butter sauce and I simply did not form an emotional connection and I broke it off with the sauce early, but the small side salad was solid and the buttered broccoli actually stole the show. Also pretty sure I was gifted two servings of ranch dressing, just too much. No photos this time mostly because nothing screamed, "memorable" or "amazing". The night, not terrible, not amazing... just a perfectly average dinner that did its job and I enjoyed not having to do any dinner clean-up!

I was still there for happy hour so I got a good deal on a couple apps. I got the tuna nacho thing and the poutine. Reminds me of the good old days before Covid when restaurants weren't all closed by 9pm... Our waitress Jasmine was THE BEST - she was attentive, filled our waters without us ever having to ask, swapped out our silverware and cleaned off the table after appetizers and very pleasant to speak with. Additionally she gave us real suggestions for popular food items on the menu (not just the stereotypical suggestions that also happen to cost the most) and was a breath of fresh air to have a honest and friendly waitress after a long day. Management: we will be coming back because of her stellar service and most definitely will be requesting her if she's available. You have a rockstar employee! Ambiance: restaurant was nice, space was clean and the vibe was nice. We will be back

A friend highly recommended Crown Tavern, and I can honestly say the food was outstanding. Every dish we ordered was excellent, and the drinks were great as well. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the food. Our waitress made us feel neglected and overlooked throughout the evening. For a meal that came to over $220, I expected a much better dining experience. It wasn't just slow service--it felt like we were forgotten at times. I did speak with the restaurant manager, Zach, and I truly appreciate how he handled the situation. He listened, was sincere, apologized, and genuinely cared about our experience. His professionalism left a positive impression, and I'm grateful he took the time to address our concerns. Crown Tavern has an incredible kitchen and serves amazing food, which is why it's disappointing that the service didn't reflect the same standard. I sincerely hope this is addressed because I'd hate for other guests to leave feeling the way we did. If I were rating the food alone, it would easily be 5 stars. Unfortunately, because service is such an important part of the overall experience, I have to give this visit 3 stars. I truly hope our next visit reflects the quality that the food already delive

The beers were good. They pack a lot of flavor in! IPAs were good. Pickle beer was very heavy on the pickle brine flavor. Our service was not great. My wife ordered a Caprese Mushroom dish. When it came out, the waitress told my wife "I feel so bad for you, we are out of basil. I don't know how good it will be, let me know. I feel so bad for you." If she knew one of the four main ingredients was missing, it could have been mentioned before making the dish so as to confirm that we still wanted that option. The dish was otherwise watery and not great. When the server came to take our plates, she should have also clocked that the meal was hardly touched. If you have to say "I feel bad for you" as you serve a customer their food, that's not a great sign. I ordered a steak and cheese which was very good. I ordered onion rings as a side. The server said "that'll be more expensive" as she walked away, despite the menu saying the meal came with the choice of one side. It didn't matter anyways, as my sandwich came with French fries instead of the onion rings I ordered. The French fries were very good, but not what I ordered. I ordered a flight of 6 tasters, and one came out empty. I was told "I don't have that one right now" by the server before she walked away, but not before she spilled the other beers as she put them down. I had to wait for her to come back and ask whether she was waiting for the empty beer to be tapped or if I was supposed to pick a new one, as it was unclear and she hadn't asked what I'd liked instead. Seems like a great venue and atmosphere is probably a lot of fun on a weekend or at night. We weren't expecting anything over the top at a brewery on a Monday for lunch. Beers were decent, and standard pub fare was good. Overall, we would not return based on the service.

That settled it; we had to try it. Out of sheer excitement or exhaustion, we forgot to make a reservation. I quickly remembered this mistake as we entered Hooked. People filled every table and seat at the bar. I looked at my bestie with great concern because we were anticipating our first meal of the day. The hostess welcomed us warmly, and then she asked the dreadful question, "Do y'all have a reservation?" We sadly said no, and she immediately began to express regret. Maybe it was the "Grad2026" headband or the disappointment on our faces that caused her to have pity on us because she told us to wait one second. The hostess walked to the bar, then she went to the main seating area, lastly she went next door where there's additional seating. She returned with a smile and motioned for us to follow her. The hostess found us seats at the bar! We ordered, chatted with the locals, and ate a delicious meal. We even made room for dessert which we learned was made by the owner, the hostess!
