My husband is always on a burger quest on vacation to try the best version of the local burger joints. (This does not include loco moco, that is a separate category on its own). Oddly enough, we found the best burger around at a mall food court. This burger beat many other places, including Maui Brewing company. We got the pineapple teriyaki. The meat was perfectly cooked. It had a nice amount of sauce and it was a nice portion. They accidentally made some fries and gave them to us (or it came with fries, not sure how we ended up with fries). But the fries were crispy and delicious. So with the burger we ate on the trip, I would skip ordering at other places and come here! read more

The burgers were decent for food court fair. We each had a BBQ bacon burger and veggie burger. They gave out way too many steak fries but otherwise it was tasty and hit the right note. We ate in the food court area so nothing to speak of in terms of ambiance here. Several birds were walking around which I suggest you do not feed. Service was okay except it took them a while to ask for our order while we were waiting at the counter despite no one else in line. Flavor was on point, the pineapple was juicy and sweet, and it hit that salty-sweet combo just right. The only thing missing? Volume. I'm talking about pineapple ratio. There is a side menu specifically for kids. Kids menu is very straightforward, offering only a choice between mini slider or grilled cheese. Either options come with a side of fries. Purchases: Mushroom Swiss Burger Kid's Menu: Mini Slider + Fries Food took a lot longer to come out than it should have- given the fact that the establishment wasn't too busy during our visit. Staff is super relaxed and simply coasts through the entire transaction. The kids meal was very basic and although the mushroom burger was skimpy with the mushrooms, it was ultimately a good burger. 3 stars. Mahaloha Burger wasn't bad but it wasn't exactly good enough to HAVE to come back. Came on a Sunday evening and ordered the slider meal with a drink. We waited over 35 minutes for our food and it still was not ready when my husband went to check why it was taking so long. We saw people who ordered after us get their food before us. Turns out, they lost our ticket. They offered a refund, so we took that and went elsewhere. The food was good. The service was fine for a fast food spot where you order at the counter. But that's where the positivity ends. Here are my major issues. First off I wasn't allowed to order my burger MR. Why? Wtf?? When did Rare and Med Rare become obsolete? If your worried about giving someone E-coli than maybe you need to buy and sell a better meat product. Don't tell customers that they can order only Med and above temps. Anyone with any food savvy doesn't order anything over Medium. And most will order it MR. Secondly why am I being charged $1 for tap water?? I didn't order a bottle of water. I got tap water out of the soda machine and you're gonna charge me $1. Total fail. And lastly, this "restaurant" is in a food court. This is not a sit down restaurant. So why am I waiting 20+ minutes for a burger and fries?? And I don't care what time of day it was or how busy it was. Even at a nice sit down restaurant an entree at dinner should take no longer than 18min. And I waited over 20min for a burger and fries at a food court restaurant. Major fail. This ownership needs to straighten stuff out because I was very disappointed in my entire experience at Maaloha Burger. And that's too bad because I was excited to finally try it out. read more

This is the first time eating at a food court in many years. We had low expectations and were pleasantly surprised how delicious and juicy and fresh our burgers were. I had a mushroom Swiss and beau had a blue cheese burger. They were quite large and filling and I would rate it 5 stars except... We waited a really long time for our meal. Sipping on a coupla beers helps to while a way the time, but I think it may have been 20-25 minute wait and they weren't particularly busy. We had tix to see show and although not in a rush, we were aware of the lengthy wait. The onion rings were not greasy! We would definitely go back and recommend to others. read more

Did you I now that that it's nearly impossible now to find a decent hot dog in Waikiki these days? They have so much invested in the high end of tourism, that most of the small locally owned businesses are gone. Sometimes even in paradise you want to eat something simple and basic. Tired after a long day of adventures we decided to eat in... something simple burgers. We ordered a couple of Loco Moco burgers... we are in Hawaii the birth place of the Loco Moco.  You are suppose to get a beef patty with a sunny side egg covered with brown gravy.  The patty was juicy...but there was very little or no gravy at all.  I was hoping for a messy get the bib and mop out type burger.  What I got was a 2 napkin burger.  But I would still reorder this burger again. We also got a Pineapple Burger.  I guess here in Hawaii everything is a Hawaiian burger.  The sweet pineapple and teriyaki sauce went will with the savory juicy beef patty   I really liked this burger over the Loco Moco.  The sandwich has a better balance of flavors. We also ordered a side of truffle fries.  This tasted like the same type of fries like the ones garlic fries without the garlic.  If there was any truffle oil in there I cannot taste it.  When I ordered, I requested some ketchup... no ketchup in the bag. read more

I wish I can give this place 5 stars, but let me tell you why I gave this place a 1 star. We paid $19 for a mushroom Swiss and cheese fries. My husband picked it up because I stayed in our hotel because my toddler was under the weather. When my husband brought it back, there was no top bun! I called and asked a partial refund because this is not what I paid for. Max told me that she couldn't do that because her boss is out of town. I told her that she can look at her cameras so she knows I'm not lying. My husband even said that while he was eating his Panda Express, he was like the only customer. He did not see anyone order from there and I guess we know why. She told me to come back and she will make a new one, but why would I want to come back? I have a sick child and I told her I wouldn't be able to come back. She told me to save the burger and to come back when I was able to. So she wants me to leave the burger on our counter and bring it back when I'm able to. Lol. It sucks that we gave this business our money expecting they would know how to make it correctly. TL;DR: The signature burger is okay. The fries are great, but you cannot upgrade them to specialty fries with a combo. The signature teriyaki pineapple burger did not have a teriyaki taste to it. It was closer to resembling barbecue sauce and flavoring. While it did not resemble much of a teriyaki burger, it still had a good and clean flavor. Note that I added mushrooms onto the burger. Also, the patty is only 1/3 lb, so it is not the biggest burger. A double patty option would be a nice option to put on the menu. The fries itself were good. There was a crisp crunch, and the seasoning was fantastic. The downside for the fries is when ordering the combo, you are not able to upgrade the fries to any of the other choices, even if paying a premium. All in all, this place is good, but expect to pay about $20 for a 1/3 lb burger combo, so if you are a heavy eater, it will not keep you full. I would recommend trying this place and their other burgers as I have only tried the one burger. There is nothing special to note about the service, but this is a place I would return to if I wanted a burger in Hawaii. read more
