Good old comfort food from. Zippy's! We had to stop in for a Zip Pac but in order to get Mac and Chilli you've got to upgrade to the deluxe. So, we did and it was just over $20. No bad, and good enough for 2 for a lite lunch. You order at the counter, they call you over, pick up your food and bus your own table. Restroom available, they give you the combination at the order counter.

I wish I came here sooner! I loved the food! We got fish, mixed bbq, rice and mac salad. The service was average. There was plenty of seating. Unfortunately restrooms are limited to single stall. I'd definitely come back!

Zippy's has a large menu, almost to the point of being overwhelming. There are so many combo choices that ordering became a bit confusing, even for the cashier. If it is your first visit, expect to spend a few extra minutes deciding what to get. That said, everything we ordered was tasty. It is a solid diner with a variety of options, so there is something for just about everyone. They also have a fun selection of desserts that are worth saving room for. Another plus is the spacious dining room. There was plenty of seating, so it never felt crowded.

It's been a long time since I been to a Zippy's. I was excited for my kids to try this place as it brings back so much memories for me but the food is definitely not how I remembered. Cashier was really nice and inside is spacious and clean. We ordered the korean chicken plate, chicken katsu plate, spaghetti, cheeseburger, Portuguese bean soup and custard long john. Out of our big order the only thing we liked was the Portuguese bean soup and mac salad. The cheeseburger was so sad it came with only a dry patty and cheese, there was no lettuce, onions or tomatoes or mayo it was so bland and plain. The custard long john's looked better than it tasted, they were dry and stale. Was a big disappointment

You can get a awesome deal this August at Zippy's. They have the spaghetti/fried chicken plate for $10.99 at the takeout counter, online or in the app. I got this plus the digital deal of a chili frank plate for $11.55. Zippy's also has a digital deal of a spaghetti plate for $11.55 and Barrel of chili for $48. Prices maybe more on the restaurant side, but ordering through the app was painless. You can see all the different substitutions you can do and I chose fries instead of rice for my chili frank plate. For the spaghetti you can get the regular meat sauce or opt for one of their chili options. The wait was about 10 minutes longer then the estimated time on the app, but I blame myself for ordering at peak dinner time. The staff was kind enough to keep me updated on my order. #bigboyproblems

Never felt so sick in my life after eating at a restaurant. My husband was so excited to try a local favorite so we made it a priority to visit. My husband and are were violently ill afterwards and for the following day and a half, it was awful. While the people here were so kind and nice and welcoming, both the workers and the customers, I was so sad that it did not live up to the hype. I had their stir fried noodles that smelled and tasted off in the worst way. Like very stale and like garbage. The burger was supposed to be a deluxe cheeseburger with teriyaki sauce, and it was a tiny horrible tasting disk. The loco moco seemed off and I did not even want to take a bite. It was also a bit gross and dirty in the restaurant. I have been recovering ever since. We have had all of those similar foods all over the island before at several restaurants (not just this trip), and it has all tasted fresh and never made us sick until eating here at Zippy's, so it was not our bodily constitutions or food preferences, it was the food at this place that made us so very ill. It makes me really sad to report this because everything looked good and the people were so friendly. They have so many things on their menu and the sweets looked fire but unfortunately, I can never visit this place again.

This place was okay! It was super hyped up on TikTok but I think the meats were kind of dry. Had this after landing in Waikiki and I would say that it was slightly disappointing. The service was okay and the atmosphere inside was dim. There was not a lot of customers inside, which is unexpected as it was hyped up on media. Fried protein and carbs. Overall, if u are looking for Hawaiian food, I think there are better stops to be had. However, it's worth the experience if u wanted to check out the hype on Zippy's for urself

We heard Zippy's was like a Hawaiian fast food joint, and we were indeed looking for some fast food at the time. We found parking easily and went inside to order. There was plenty of seating opened. We decided on some kids meals and the surf pac deluxe plate. Food came out fairly quickly. The kids loved the spaghetti and burger. The chicken and chili were our favorites from the plate. Hawaiian chili and rice is a must, you're missing out if you don't try it. And the fried chicken was really juicy. Service was pretty good. The restaurant itself was pretty clean. There was also a bakery section but we didn't get a chance to try things. The kids meal came with a token to use on their toy machine, which the kids loved.

Had a lot of people recommend zippy's. Nice parking lot. Plenty of parking. We waited about 6 mins to be seated. Our food came out pretty quickly after ordering. We got the Korean fried chicken and the Korean fried chicken w chili platter. I got mac salad on mine and my friend got corn on hers. Overall, this was so good and such a big portion. Had to take leftovers to go of course. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

Zippy's is Hawaii's version of fast-food, so we were curious and wanted to try! We ordered the deluxe plate and the mini deluxe plate. The fried chicken was a bit dry, but tasted yummy when you dip it in the gravy. My favorite was definitely the beef and mac salad! The service wasn't great, but we chalked it up to it being a fast-food joint. The restaurant was fairly clean and reminded me of an KFC stuck in 2013ish.

My first fast food experience in Hawaii is here at Zippy's! They have everything you would crave for in comfort Hawaiian food, as well as sweets and desserts like cake, pastries, and malasadas. Although I didn't try the sweets, they looked promising and fresh. What my group ordered was their Chicken Katsu Plate, Loco Moco, and Korean Fried Chicken Plate. Each plate came with a scoop of white rice and Mac salad. The food order took time but we had a huge group order and we were told beforehand each loco moco plate would take around 8-10 minutes. To drink, their Lilikoi Drink is amazing and perfectly sweet to counter the heavy foods we were already eating. It was a delicious meal and I liked the Korean Fried Chicken plate the most as it was the most flavorful and went well with rice. So glad to have tried Zippy's in Kapahulu and try out their popular plates. They are an easy choice when it comes to finding a location that serves most of your favorite Hawaiian comfort foods. They also serve breakfast for dinner so an all day breakfast is another bonus for me!

We ordered the chicken trio meal that came with chicken katsu, Korean fried chicken, and Zippy's famous fried chicken with a side of mac salad and rice. This meal was definitely affordable and worth it since the portion was huge! Our favorites was the Korean fried chicken and original fried chicken. The Korean fried chicken had a lot of flavor, not too sweet or salty. The original fried chicken was very juicy and crunchy - maybe an in between of Jollibee and Popeyes. Overall both were really great. The chicken katsu was a little dry. Also can't go wrong with the mac salad. The staff here are really friendly as well. Nice diner style spot to stop by!

Visiting from LA. the food portion is good, an older lady at the counter was nice, clean inside and out. Nothing to complain about. I will be back.

I didn't expect much from this small corner diner, but everything turned out real solid! The exterior is especially entrancing, with its bright, rainbow neon sign that glows out the darkness of the night! The hooded interior was clean and followed well with the rainbow theme, especially with its rainbow pastel, title wallpaper. I would also like to compliment the workers, who were very nice and approachable! We ordered the loco moco plate, mixed plate, and saimin. Both plates were very filling and came in huge portions! The plates are for sure a top choice if you want a nice, hearty dinner! I especially enjoyed my loco moco! The saimin was less filling and came in an instant noodle cup. Still yet, it wasn't half bad--and it actually seems like a fairly good piece if you are on a diet or budget; it wasn't as expensive as the other dishes and only came out as 220 calories! I also want to note that they have a variety of tasty dessert pastries and icee treats if you are looking for a treat after your dinner. Overall, I would say this is a great diner to try if you've got a big appetite and are looking for something to share with a friend or family! Great vibes and great Hawaiian plate meals!

And we just can't go here anymore unless changes are made! We used to prefer them over Zippy's, but now they are less than 7-Eleven quality, while charging higher-end prices for the neighborhood. We have given them many chances, hoping it was just a fluke, but we have repeatedly been disappointed. Their chicken has become chewy and fatty, their rice is mediocre, and condiments such as mayonnaise are stripped down to the bare minimum quantity. Chile is poured so lightly that it is practically a minuscule amount. And their prices have continued to rise. I don't know if greedy people took over the restaurant who just don't care anymore, or what is going on. I remember when I used to take people here, and they would be impressed with the quality and quantity--plates just heaping with good cuts of meat, noodles, and rice. Those days are no more. As they say in Japan, the price performance is poor. Furthermore, their staff is rude. I can only imagine it was an owner working this day because it was a face I haven't seen that often. An older gentleman who appeared to be of Okinawan descent, working the cashier register, accosted us because I was privately discussing with my family about splitting different items with them. We were all ordering something, so he wasn't losing any money, but he told us about how prices are double in Waikīkī. First of all, it is rude to interrupt your customers that way. Secondly, we don't go to Waikīkī or care about Waikīkī. What happened to serving the locals? Third, Waikīkī has an assortment of restaurants, prices, and qualities, and they shouldn't be how you base your services. Lastly, I guarantee I could find a better deal in Waikīkī if I wanted to. Next time you're in the area, just go get a $6 bento or a $5 burrito from 7-Eleven next door. I assure you, the price performance and experience will be better. If Rainbow Drive-In is in the business of comparing themselves to other things, let's compare them to 7-Eleven and at least try to be better than them, right? I can get mochiko chicken from 7-Eleven for $6.99 that is similar in portion size and better quality. Meanwhile, they are serving their fatty, dry chicken for $16.75. Highway robbery! And they are not fancy, with their dirty picnic tables and plastic cutlery. They are just a step above a food truck, if that. Save yourself from the hype. They have gone downhill like a landslide. Go elsewhere.

Kono's Northshore Waikiki Absolutely Crushed It…read more While vacationing in Waikiki, I decided to stop by **Kono's Northshore Waikiki** before heading out to Waimanalo Beach, and I'm so glad I did. What I thought would be a quick breakfast stop turned into one of the most memorable meals of my trip. I ordered the **Triple Crown Sandwich**, and wow... this thing absolutely delivered. From the very first bite, it was obvious why Kono's has such a loyal following. The pulled pork was incredibly flavorful, tender, and perfectly seasoned. Every bite had that slow-cooked, melt-in-your-mouth quality that only comes from people who know exactly what they're doing. The flavors were rich without being overwhelming, and everything was balanced beautifully. The bread deserves its own round of applause. Too many sandwich places focus on what's inside and forget that the bread is just as important. Not here. The bread was fresh, soft, sturdy enough to hold everything together, and had the perfect texture to complement the pork. Every element worked together perfectly. The overall vibe of Kono's is exactly what you want while you're in Hawaii. Relaxed, welcoming, unpretentious, and authentic. There's something special about grabbing incredible food, chatting with friendly staff, and knowing you're about to spend the day enjoying one of the most beautiful islands in the world. I picked up my sandwich on the way to **Waimanalo Beach**, and honestly, it was the perfect move. After the drive over, sitting down and enjoying that Triple Crown before heading into the water absolutely hit the spot. It was one of those vacation moments that just feels right. Great food, ocean ahead, sunshine, and nowhere you need to be except the beach. As if the sandwich wasn't enough, I also tried the **breakfast burrito**, and it was every bit as impressive. Calling it "good" honestly doesn't do it justice. It was packed with flavor from start to finish. The pulled pork was phenomenal, and finding those smoky little bits of bacon throughout the burrito elevated it to another level. Every bite had a combination of savory, smoky, hearty goodness that made it nearly impossible to put down. It was filling without feeling heavy, rich without being greasy, and exactly the kind of breakfast you want before a day of exploring Oahu. What impressed me most was that nothing felt mass-produced. Everything tasted fresh, carefully prepared, and made by people who genuinely care about the quality of their food. In a tourist destination where it's easy for restaurants to rely on location alone, Kono's succeeds because the food actually lives up to the reputation. The portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the value was excellent, especially considering the quality you're getting. By the time I reached Waimanalo Beach, I was completely fueled up and ready for an amazing day. After a swim in those crystal-clear waters, I found myself still thinking about that sandwich. That's usually the sign of a great meal. Kono's isn't just serving food. They're serving the kind of meal that becomes part of your Hawaii memories. If you're staying in Waikiki, heading to the North Shore, going to the beach, or simply looking for one of the best breakfast or lunch options on Oahu, do yourself a favor and stop at Kono's. The Triple Crown Sandwich is outstanding. The breakfast burrito is phenomenal. The pulled pork is some of the best I've had anywhere. And the entire experience captures the laid-back, flavorful spirit of Hawaii. This wasn't just one of my favorite meals in Waikiki. It was one of my favorite meals of the entire trip. **Mahalo, Kono's. I'll be thinking about that Triple Crown Sandwich long after I leave Hawaii.**
