It is going to be a STRONG. NO for me!! I had my heart set on eating at Salalta - but when I arrived on a Saturday afternoon I discovered they were closed. I needed something in my belly and this spot was open so I decided to give it a try. First - service was basic. I felt like I was being a burden by walking in and patronizing. I've tried this restaurant twice and had two different experiences when it came to the food. During my first visit I was in the area on a Tuesday afternoon around 2pm and figured I would stop for a quick healthy lunch before getting on the road to head back home which is a two plus hour drive. There are so many restaurants in the area so it's very hard to choose based on radius. I chose Mahana Fresh due to the high reviews and close proximity to where my appointment was at. Their website to order online was user friendly. You can make your meal as healthy as you would like, giving you the option of several bases like sesame noodles, cauliflower rice, or spinach to name a few. I chose the Mahana bowl, and it came with spinach, shrimp, Brussel Sprouts, and broccoli. My meal was ready in about 10 minutes. When I arrived a friendly staff member greeted me and handed me my bag. The restaurant was empty as to be expected at such an odd hour. The ambiance was very casual, with a walk up counter and open seating. My meal the first time was surprisingly delicious. The shrimp and veggies were prepared well and the cilantro ranch sauce paired well with my bowl. My second visit was similar to the first with the same time of day on a Monday. Same great service and my meal was similar but this time I ordered buffalo cauliflower and brussel sprouts with shrimp over spinach. The veggies were excellent, I probably should have gotten a Veggie bowl. The shrimp were mushy with a fishy taste, I tried one and removed the rest of them from my meal, they were clearly not fresh. If you are looking for fresh well made veggies then this restaurant is worth giving a try. read more

This one was hit and miss for catering a work buffet: the proteins: tuna was GREAT, chicken was a tad dry but tasty (think catered wedding chicken); the sides of broccoli were solid and not as spicy as expected, so devoured quickly. The citrus ginger sauce was a HUGE hit and I almost brought some of it home with me! The add on sides were just weird - the tomato & cuc salad was not uniformly cut making some pieces shriveled and some as they should be still with some bite. That was the major disappointment. The pickles were straight out of a jar, as were whole / pieced almonds. Someone called off my review response from the restaurant and shared that I misunderstood that they would be any different as they are meant to be added to meals not eaten on the side, which makes perfect sense, just helping someone else not make the same mistake. The food is always fresh and delicious. They have several rice bases. I cannot eat the coconut rice but the other rice flavors set the tone for my meal. My favorite veggies are the spicy cauliflower and roasted sweet potatoes but I am never disappointed with what ever vegetable I receive. I also am very fond of the cilantro vinaigrette. Occasionally, I get a Mixed Berry Smoothie which is so tasty. This is healthy eating at it's best. Whenever I arrive, I am greeted by a smiling, welcoming face. I had pretty high expectations based on many of the reviews I saw on Google as well as Yelp, so I decided to give it a try! I wanted something healthy for lunch. I chose a green smoothie and asked to sub Mango instead of Banana as well as add vanilla protein powder. I had a hard time finding the smoothie ingredients on the website but found it in a picture on their Facebook page. That's how I knew what I wanted because the UberEats page doesn't say what's in the smoothie and as I said, I couldn't find it on their site. I also got the Big Mahana Bowl and selected what I felt to be a good mix of proteins carbs and fats. I got sesame noodles because I was feeling that over rice today and spinach as my base, with sesame ginger broccoli, roasted sweet potatoes, avocado smash, tomato cucumber salad, Key West chicken, spicy ahi tuna, and citrus ginger dressing as well as coconut sweet potato dressing. I can't speak on ambiance because I ordered through UberEats, but service was quick and accurate on getting me everything I selected. Everything was packaged safely and nicely. My drink was secured in a plastic sealed bag and my food was stapled inside a brown paper bag. I drank my smoothie in a flash! It wasn't the best I'd ever had but it got the job done. As for the food, it was just okay. The portions are huge which is nice, but I wish the quality/tastes were better. The noodles were very over cooked and soggy, the chicken was pretty tough, and the tuna had several chewy pieces (but also several tender ones). However, the broccoli and sweet potatoes were perfectly cooked and flavorful. The spinach was standard, as was the avocado. The tomato cucumber salad was tasty. I preferred the citrus ginger dressing to the coconut sweet potato dressing, but I chose to put both on my meal. All in all, everything was just... okay. Perhaps I chose the wrong item(s). I would be open to giving a second chance, perhaps rice next time with maybe more veggies or the tofu instead of a meat option. A mixed bag, or so it seems. 1. I am not gluten free, and I did not know that Mahana Fresh's specialty is being gluten free until I came to post a review. 2. I ordered this meal from Uber Eats. Your experience may vary. I ordered a teriyaki bowl and a side of macaroni and cheese. I got these BOGO through Ubereats. The mac and cheese might have been the worst mac and cheese I've ever eaten and this includes the time I tried to use almond milk when I made Kraft Mac and Cheese. First, this came to me cold. The cheese on top hadn't melted. This is NOT an Uber Eats problem. I could understand if it was cold because of a time delay, but this was clearly never heated through. As such, I needed to reheat this immediately upon receipt to eat it. The joy doesn't stop here. The noodles had no integrity whatsoever. They were so mushy that I did not need my teeth or gums to break this pasta down. I was able to sufficiently mash the macaroni against the roof of my mouth with my tongue. The sauce was flavorless and watery. Despite having a second one in my fridge, I will likely dispose of this. As someone who will tolerate nearly anything when it comes to food, the fact that I'm choosing to not eat food I have in my possession speaks volumes. If I only had gotten the macaroni, this would have been a 1 star. The Teriyaki Bowl didn't have a lot of teriyaki flavor, but it was excellent. I found that the main flavors were from the wasabi cream sauce and the coconut rice, but this was still a great bowl with lots of protein, good flavor, and balance. I cannot emphasize this enough, the macaroni and cheese is terrible. Everything else though? Really good! They're actually perfectly cooked and juicy. I'm guessing they sous-vide it or something to get it that perfectly cooked. They're also not afraid to add some char/color to the vegetables. They cook them with a bit of char, which I like. The sauces give the entire bowl a good flavor. I like them. The place is no-frills. The bowls are no-frills. Mahana fresh is tucked away in a strip mall kind of location near a UPS store. The good online reviews and the healthy make your own, all GF concept lured us to driving to it after a trip to Perimeter mall. We love the healthy GF concept and what seems to be creative bowls. I I was expecting more of a Sweetgreen or Cava feel and was quite disappointed when we walked in. The place was small and cluttered with a printer by the entrance -- seems weird for a restaurant. The back seems to be a prep area where sauces are stacked and where pick up orders are bagged. We made our own bowls vs doing the signature ones - decent servings and food is ok. Our kids had the Mac n cheese bowls. Nutrition facts are available in the store for those that are tracking. That was handy and good. Staff and service were ok. They seem to have not tried anything to give recommendations to first timers like us. Overall, ambiance can be enhanced -- it's a little tired and disorganized. Food and taste is just ok. I was first introduced to Mahana Fresh via the ever so helpful Find Me Gluten Free app. I was starved and in need of something straightforward with the gluten free options front and center. So I stopped in with my daughter who also has a gluten allergy and my husband in tow who gladly eats healthily when with us (and always surprised by how normal eating gf tastes). Mahana has so many great menu options and entrees to choose from. They offer an option to build your own bowl from the freshest ingredients or choose from any of their specials already outfitted with the best selections to compliment the entree experience. The staff behind the counter greeted us with smiles while simultaneously let them know how excites to try them for the first time. The woman even let me sample something I was curious about. She and the gentleman went on to explain how everything is prepared fresh daily, from the purest ingredients sans gluten all the way down to the desserts! After having the bowl that has become each of our standout favorites I've been hooked enough to come back three times in the span of two weeks! I can't believe it has taken me this long to download the app for future savings, upcoming specials via notification alerts and to write this review! Not only is Mahana worth stopping in to for a nice, filling meal it is clean, quiet and worth the trip for us! I really wish there was a location closer to where we reside. This was our first time visiting Mahana fresh and I have to say we will definitely be back. The service was incredibly friendly and we're even willing to give us samples to taste since it was our first time there. It was very handicapped accessible, which is important. They had a 100 food rating and the place was clean And neat. The atmosphere was simple, but it was very bright and very warm and friendly. Some of the family are gluten-free and their menu was almost completely gluten-free. Normally gluten-free food is not as tasty as gluten containing food, but this place was utterly amazing. Your options of, a carb base as well as the tasty servings of protein and vegetables really added up to a nice experience. The gluten-free brownie for dessert was absolutely out of this world.
