The honey one is sweet with the perfect acidity and the sazerac is like Thai tea and old fashion with bitters in a perfect proportion. Also got the Thai tea: AMAZING! Food: Pork Ribs | delicious, with hints of lemongrass and great flavors of spicy, sweet, and saltiness. Crab Curry | The flavors reminded me of the best curry I had in Thailand. Delicious. It's spicy. Might be a bit too spicy for some people so maybe ask for adjusted spicy level if you can't handle heat. Grilled Calamari | This was mehhh. The calamari wasn't really grilled, there weren't any charred marks, not enough smoky flavor. Tastes more like blanched. The sauce was pretty good though. Parking/ Transportation : Parking might be a bit challenging. There are metered parking on the street and a parking lot close by ( Kent/Webster Place: behind the barbeque restaurant). This restaurant is right by the brookline village T stop. Very convenient for people with no cars. Service/Ambiance: Very nice people. Waitstaff were very rude. We reserved a table and were told it would take a few minutes, so we sat at the bar. However, apparently our chairs were slightly too far from the bar, and the waiter practically yelled at us to scoot in. Soon afterward, we were told we needed to leave the restaurant and wait outdoors in the cold for our table to be ready, because a new customer arrived and wanted to sit at the bar. YUM! My family went here for dinner last night and we all loved it. I was so pleased to see that the menu clearly labeled what was gluten-free and that there were plenty of gf options! I feel a little bad for the 1st less than stellar review here, but maybe my expectations were hyped a bit. I first heard about the opening on an Eater article and was very excited to try. The location and ambiance: Its mainly street parking, but I had no trouble finding a spot on a Wednesday night. The inside was dimly lit and a perfect setting for a cozy date night. The restaurant was relatively small, I'm guessing 8-10 tables all together, but this adds to the cozy date-night feel. We didn't have any trouble grabbing a table, but shortly after us, there was a small wait. The servers were all very attentive and accommodating, our water glasses were never empty. The food: A full bar, with lots of wine and beer, but only a handful of cocktails on the menu right now, I'm guessing more will be added. I dint get a chance to try the drinks but they sounded delicious. My main concern was with the pork cheeks and the fried chicken. Both were flavorful, but seemingly overcooked. The pork cheeks were a bit hard, and difficult to chew. The fried chicken was slightly drier than I expected for dark meat. Overall, I think this is a cute spot for a date if your'e grabbing drinks mainly, and maybe 1-2 plates to share, but I don't think this will be a regular spot for me. read more

Got crab curry take out. Flavors were really nice and the fresh basil and raw veggies (I think it's a southern Thai thing) were a great combo with the curry and noodles. Portion was perfect for 1 person. They did not adjust spice but provided dried crushed red pepper which dialed it up sufficiently- I prefer Thai hot but few restaurants like to do that. Went hoping to have dinner with a friend - I'm a vegetarian, and when I asked if the two seemingly vegetarian/vegan items on the menu were made without fish sauce, the bartender and server both said no. So vegetarians, vegans, and those with fish allergies be warned, the Plaa Hed (though marked vegan on their toast menu, which seems like a huge liability) is in fact made with fish sauce, as is the Pad Paa. Both employees I talked to said the restaurant cannot accommodate vegetarians, vegans, or those with fish allergies. The Malay daiquiri I had was good though. read more

I came there for a dinner on a weekday with a couple friends. Even with a reservation we had to wait for about 15 minutes to be seated. The place is not large, but they have several tables as well as some bar seats. The service was quick and very friendly. Our waitress knew the menu well and was able to guide us. We have selected several tapas that everyone enjoyed. My personal favorite was crab fried rice. The cherry on top was their cocktail selection. I ordered the Pattaya Drift and throughly enjoyed it. We have been a few times and usually always love it. I will say that in a very busy night the service goes to measurably. Trying to get more food or another drink is nearly impossible. The food is pretty great but a little excessive on the mint in many dishes. Fried Pork Belly w sauce drizzled rice (side of that soy type sauce drizzled) 2. Slow cooked Beef stew type w thin crispy scallions 3. Very mixed feelings after dinning here. Everything we ordered was really good. We really liked the beef panang and the chicken pad thai was pretty good. Service was attentive and friendly. The food came out unbelievably fast which had me questioning if it was prepared ahead of time. The place is VERY small, with tables too close together, and it is unpleasantly loud. The brick and wood interior could use some sound dampening. Even for a tapas place, the portions were small. An order of chicken wings ($13) arrived and there were two of them, totally ridiculous. The chicken pad Thai ($18) was about a quarter of the portion of a pad thai at most other Thai places. Unlikely I will go back. read more

Torn on my review for Mahaniyom, because the food was really excellent (5/5) but the experience overall was just okay (3/5). We had a reservation on Friday night at 8:30 PM. When we arrived, there was a massive group (a few parties waiting to be seated? walk-ins?) blocking the doorway, and no host to inform that we were there. After a long wait we finally were able to maneuver around the group and flag a waiter, who sat us immediately, so our table had been ready the whole time (but with no one to tell, we were just stuck waiting around). The menu is on a QR code which made it harder to decide together what tapas we wanted since we couldn't really converse about our shared choices. We ordered the massaman curry, panang curry, pomelo salad, crab curry, a side of rice, thai teas, and the First Class to Bangkok cocktail. All of the food and drinks were absolutely incredible and I would highly recommend. The seats and table were very small, even though it's a tapas place there was not room on the table for the dishes we ordered so we felt rushed trying to eat them and get the plates out of the way, and I felt uncomfortably close to the tables on either side of me.
