Walking into Desi Accent felt like stepping into a space filled with echoes of the past. We used to spend time here decades ago, when the space was The Living Room, and the moment we entered, those memories came rushing back in the most joyful way. The space is inviting and comfortable, easy to settle into. Service was exceptionally friendly. We were warmly welcomed and had a lovely conversation with Sara, the owner, which added a personal and heartfelt touch to the evening. Our party of four included a vegetarian and someone with gluten-free needs, and both were accommodated effortlessly. Always a sign of a thoughtful kitchen. We started with Aloo Paneer Tikki and Papdi Chaat, both excellent. The tikki was crisp and satisfying, and the chaat had that perfect mix of textures and tangy brightness. For mains, we shared Chicken Vindaloo, shrimp curry, Chicken Biryani, Mutter Aloo, and vegetable fried rice, all accompanied by warm, soft, slightly crisp butter naan. Everything was beautifully presented, well prepared, and balanced in spice without overwhelming the palate. And then... the cocktails. My friend and I ventured into margarita territory, one spicy and one with ginger, both crafted so well that we immediately ordered a second round. No regrets. If I had one small wish, it would be for music that leans more into the cultural experience. A sitar in the background or even Bollywood scenes on the screens would add an extra layer of immersion. That said, the American music playing was tasteful and unobtrusive. If you're in the suburbs and craving good Indian food with warm hospitality, this is your place. We came here to celebrate a birthday. We came with a toddler and infant in a car seat, and staff was able to accommodate us with a high chair and little extra seating. We ordered a chicken curry, chicken biryani, and lamb Rogan Josh. Chicken curry tasted great, chicken biryani had good flavor except it tasted sweet which we did not like, and lamb rogan josh was a solid 4/5 (better than most). We ordered couple garlic naan and a cheese naan. Only issue I have is that complimentary rice should come with curries. This was not the case, but almost every Indian restaurant does this with the exception of a few. Good ambiance, nice wall decor. I'd order again. read more

Came in wanting à la carte, and was super surprised to hear that they have a weekend lunch buffet! The selection is not as expansive, but every dish was so stellar. I don't think Indian food can ever go wrong!!! I'm absolutely obsessed with paneer and can get those cheese cubes for days, so I nearly screamed when I saw they had paneer makhani. This was the best paneer dish I've ever had, and the flavors were just soooo complex and amazing. The owner was soo nice and made a variety of street foods for us, including dahi puri and pani puri. That spiced minty pani (water consistency) was so refreshing ugh. The owner also said Hakka noodles are India's version of Chinese food, so she insisted our group needed to try. This was slightly sweet and tangy, and felt like a Panda Express chow mein but sweeter. (Highest compliment, I loveeeeee Panda) The fried rice was also superrrr addicting, and the way they spiced and cooked the veggies was smart. During a recent work conference in Lombard, Chicago, there was a catered lunch from The Desi Accent on Tuesday and the catering ended up being a very good meal. I had some traditional dishes like garlic naan, rice, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken! There was a variety of options for meal selections. I enjoyed the meal and thought the food was good quality and worth eating! The meals were very well seasoned and the portion size was large enough for everyone at the workshop! The butter chicken tasted fantastic! It was creamy and had bold flavors. The tikka masala tasted as if there was just the right amount of spice in the dish, therefore each bite tasted so yummy! The garlic naan was warm and soft and worked extremely well when dipped into the sauce from the curries. There was a lot of rice with the meal, which allowed you to build a full plate too! We received a lot of food for the catering order and everyone left satisfied! It is hard to find a catering service that has such fantastic food and travels well. We were able to get seated after walking in on a Saturday evening without a wait. Nice ambiance inside with upscale decor and formal seating, located right between oak brook and Lombard. The food was just mediocre. We liked the chicken curry and lamb Rogan Josh was just ok, the chicken biryani I would skip as it was sweet and not seasoned well. This is my second time coming here. It wasn't very busy on a Saturday night. The parking lot has a sufficient amount of parking. We ordered shikanjvi, aam ki lassi (mango lassi), dahi bhalla, chicken ghee roast, lamb badami, and garlic mozzarella naan. Btw you'll have to order basmati rice separately since it does not automatically come with the entrees. Prices are competitive with other Indian restaurants. Portion sizes are not tiny but adequate. You'll definitely leave full after your meal. Service was great. They do add 3% if you use a card. -shikanjvi 5 - North Indian lemonade with lime, mint, and black salt. This is very good. Not sour just right. I wished there were refills on this. -dahi bhalla 5 - they're like fried dumplings with yogurt sauce. It's pretty good and worth trying out. -chicken ghee roast 5 - just a fair warning but mild is still spicy. I don't recommend it if you can't stand spicy food at all. The chicken pieces are very tender and can easily be cut up. It has a nice aroma. -lamb badami 5 - I like that it has a strong almond taste mixed with the very tender lamb. I've frequented the business next door but never got to stop in until yesterday. Traditional Indian food with great options. Free parking lot, Bar, fireplace, and great staff. Lots of seating...great for parties and single guest. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The greeters were friendly and quick to seat me. The menu options were plentiful for both meat eaters and non-meat eaters. Great selections. Because I was a first time visitor I had to sample some of everything despite knowing I couldn't eat it all. I started with drinks: Dum Maro Dum- tequila with lime , pineapple, and mandarin (perfect drink and well balanced). Very refreshing. Tradionally I prefer beer or wine with Indian food and they had nice options even for cocktails. I also had a small Taj Mahal .. my favorite Appetizers: Mulligatawny soup ( the lentils and flavor were perfect) the temperature was also great as many places seem to have warm soup these days. I also had Momos- vegetable dumplings although chicken was an option. The chilli sauce that came with it was delicious. I think I would have liked the dumpling slightly pan fried but it was still good. Dinner: cumin rice side (very large portion in my opinion) and Lamb Chilli Masala. I am a spice heat kinda of lady but this definitely has th heat even when placing peppers to the side. Very very good. The rice and naan helped balance the heat. I would reorder and ask for less heat. The Naan was the star of the show as it was garlic mozzarella and it was perfect most places warm the naan and just add minced garlic however the oil of the garlic, actual garlic with the cheese on naan...I mean it stood out as the BEST that I have ever had. I must say that I believe this has become my favorite spot in the Lombard-Oakbrook area!!! We walked in and were surprised by how large the dining area is inside. It looks small from the outside. Nice quiet ambiance and polite, attentive wait staff (shoutout to Melvin). We had 2 mocktails (I highly recommend the "Soul Cooler"), followed by the delicious vegetable samosas. We shared a basmati rice and a chicken tikka masala, along with an order of garlic naan. Flavors were very good and we were unable to finish all the food. Service staff were always ready for anything we needed, without being intrusive. Superb food and service! I've driven by here many times and just didn't take notice. Which is my fault. This is a hidden gem. A group of us went and ordered a lot off the menu with help of their amazing owner. While everything was great, the highlights were the shrimp tandoor, Chicken tikka, their Naan's. The Desi Accent is intriguing. I always walk into Indian restaurants wondering what I am getting into. This is based on, um, prior experiences. I have to say, I like this place. Without knowing the back story, I can tell they have a passion for Indian cuisine. A nice, dim setting in the evening with dramatic lights showcasing their art. I like the color coordination, love the deco! They have plenty of specialties, both veg and non veg. They have great snacks within their "First Course", as listed on the menu. The food was fresh, rich, delicious, presented nicely, and made to order so it can, understandably, take a little time to arrive. In my opinion food has the perfect spice level. They did not tame it too much for non Indians and it doesn't make you blow smoke. Heads up butter chicken snobs, there version is a little sweet, tomato based, but with a very smokey flavor, likely because they actually use tandoori chicken from a real tandoor. I'm usually not a fan of sweet butter chicken but I understood their interpretation and finished it all. I enjoyed their lamb rogan josh, no morsel was left behind! Kheer and kulfi for dessert and they were good. For those who aren't familiar with black salt, try the Nimbu Twist. For those who like black salt, try the Shikanji for palette-pleansing refreshment. Black salt has a sulfuric smell and the taste is acquired, but definitely aids in digestion. There are plenty of other drink options fyi. Our candle wasn't lit and my wife grumbled a bit about it. That may have enhanced the romantic vibe? Who knows. I noticed a steady flow of pickup orders, as well as dine in guests, meaning the food is fresh and moving. Lovely dishes with good portions-- highly recommend the Rogan Josh, Goat Biriyani, Palak Paneer, Fish Tandoori (one of our favorites-- so tender; it is fresh mahi mahi), and yogurt Raita. I was in the mood for a spicy and savory meal, and decided to try a highly rated Indian Restaurant in the Oakbrook and Lombard area. TDA is located in a strip mall on Butterfield Road two lights away from Yorktown Shopping (Von Maur, JC Penney) and minutes away from Oakbrook shopping (eg Nordstrom Rack, Nike, DSW). Upon entering, we were greeted immediately and seated with a freshly lit candle close to the fireplace. Our waiter noticed we didn't receive the drink menu and immediately retrieved one. This level of attentiveness exhibited initially began to fade away after the order was placed but it was a bright spot to see a well staff restarting given the all too common staffing shortages in the industry post Covid. We started with the tomato soup and vegetable samosa, both of which were sold piping hot and filled with flavor. As a main dish, we ordered MURGH TIKKA MALAI MASALA (Butter Chicken), CHICKEN CURRY, Butter Naan and Basmati Rice. * We originally requested the Curry chicken meal (it's on the last page of the menu) and was told it wasn't available. Each item was served piping hot EXCEPT the Naan. I've never been served cold Naan but it was decent. Around this time, we didn't see our server so we went with it instead allowing it to derail an otherwise delightful meal. I deducted a star for the following reasons: 1. Pricing - it's on the high end given the portion size and it's location. A meal for two with a glass of wine or cocktail ($13- $17) was approximately $50 person before gratuity. 2. COLD Naan - Naan at $5-6 per order should never be served cold. My samosas were still warm at the end of the main course which suggests the naan was sitting quite some time and should have never been served in that manner. 3. We weren't asked if we wanted to order dessert or coffee at the end of our meal. 4. A gentleman was cleaning the carpet (non electric vacuum) before we finished and at least 30 minutes before the kitchen closed. I'm not a fan of witnessing sweeping, vacuuming and mopping while dining. It's down right distasteful, esp at this price point. read more

Similar to most reviews, food here is banging but the price per dish compared to how much you're getting is off. We had called in for some takeout, and did the Tikka Malai Masala (butter chicken), Rogan Josh (lamb in a nice spicy sauce), Goat Biriyani (herb rich Goat rice), and a order of Keema Naan (naan infused with minced lamb & spice). In general, lots of flavor and spice all around. You can tell there's a level of attention to detail used when developing sauce for both the Tikka Masala and the Rogan Josh. Just a heads up that the Rogan Josh and Goat Biriyani are definitely on the spicy end of spectrum and had me sweating by end of meal. In regards to price, if you're paying $16 - $20 per main course entree, it should really come with a side of rice... Just sayin'. Aside from that, food is good, but pricey. This restaurant is owned by a Gujarati Punjabi couple who are truly wonderful hosts. In the numerous times that I've dined here, the service has been wonderful. The food comes very quickly after ordering, and the waiting staff make sure that all your questions are answered, and any additional food that you have ordered comes in a prompt time as well. The ambience of this restaurant would be considered above average for a suburban set-up. However, the food more than makes up for it. The input of both the Gujarati and Punjabi owners is clearly seen in the food itself. Some of the traditional North Indian dishes truly taste as if you were eating them in northern India. Some of the more western and Gujarati dishes also have a taste which is analogous to that found it in their particular region. food taste was ok. we, a party of 4 people were there on saturday evening prior to labor day. it was crowded as half the restaurant was reserved for a party. service was prompt. ambiance was somewhat dark with no lights in an area on way to the rest room. there is no partition in the rest room between the two urinals in the men's room. no bowl of rice was provided with four or more main dishes we ordered. this had to be ordered separately. the chicken in the chicken curry/chicken tikka masala appeared to be recycled from a tandoori dish as it had red color. we were somewhat hurried out at the end as there were people waiting. overall somewhat poor experience this time. read more
