I am helping someone manage her rental house (a two-story duplex) and she told me to call Victoria at Mahogany to arrange for the house to be cleaned. Victoria was very friendly on the phone and making the appointment was a breeze. I was told to request Clifford. He and Curvin (sp?) showed up on Saturday morning and cleaned the whole place, both units, top to bottom. They did an AMAZING job! I've watched other house cleaning crews work and they are not nearly as thorough. If I lived in a bigger place (as opposed to a studio apartment) and wanted to hire house cleaners, I'd call Mahogany in a heartbeat. And I'd definitely request Clifford & Curvin! I don't usually trust anyone else to clean things as thoroughly as I would (I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to cleaning) so that's saying something! They asked me questions (did I want the refrigerator cleaned?) and listened to my requests (please clean the laundry room!) and they wanted me to walk through and approve their work before they left. They were also very conscientious...making sure to turn off all the lights as we did the walk through and even reminding me to lock the door of the downstairs unit. I really appreciate that. Very disappointed in this business. Attempted to redeem my Livingsocial voucher in October but was told they were "booked for at least a month." This was unfortunate because we wanted to have our new home cleaned prior to move in but I knew redeeming these vouchers can be challenging at times. So, I tried to be understanding and decided to schedule prior to my housewarming. BIG MISTAKE! They were scheduled to come between 11 and 11:30, but by 12:50 they were nowhere to be found. My housewarming started at 1 which I informed them of during scheduling and yet they were a complete no-show yesterday. They then complained about my living in the San Fernando Valley but per the voucher, services are to be honored within 30 miles of their address and I am within that radius. They knew where I lived when I scheduled the appointment! We were not accommodated, offered something to make it up, just a sorry but there is nothing they can do because the crew is still in Los Angeles cleaning a different house. Businesses out there: Don't bother with Livingsocial or Groupon if you can't keep your word and honor your commitments! read more

So... I called Mahogany again. And once again, they saved me. Not only did I only give them one day notice, but my apt was even dirtier than before AND Courtney, the lovely business owner was able to fulfill my request of having the same guys I had last time - Clifford and Darel - because they were so amazing. They showed up early, went WAY above and beyond the call of duty and did so with a smile... AGAIN! I love these guys. They're so good at what they do that the amount of cleaning they get done in 2 hours is the same as I can get done in 2 weeks. That wasn't an exaggeration. And last but not least... because I started as a living social customer, they kept the price really reasonable. SO AWESOME!! Thanks again Mahogany!! read more

Excellent all around. I purchased a groupon for this company long ago and thought I wasn't going to be able to schedule a cleaning before my voucher expired, but Courtney was nice enough to call me and schedule a time that worked for me. The two men who cleaned my apartment, Jamel and Clifford, asked what specifically I wanted to be done with the apartment. They were able to clean out the grime and rust that's been sitting on my stove and in my bathtub for years. I haven't been able to clean this out despite rigorous efforts on my part and they cleared it all in 1:30 hours, and had the time to clean my tile floors, the rest of my apartment, and vacuum. My apartment has never been this clean. I highly recommend this company to anyone who would like a cleaner apartment. Well worth the groupon I spent and I will definitely use their services again. read more

i booked (and confirmed them the day before) for 10:30 am...they showed up at 11:30 am, which was annoying to say the least. then it took them an extra long time (did i mention they get paid by the hour) to clean my place. when they left i went into my bathroom to find the floor super dirty, so i literally had to run outside and make them come back. i have no problem cleaning my own floor, but when i pay someone $180 to do it, i expect it to be done. you know what i'm saying? pros - my place was really really clean, victoria is really really nice on the phone cons - slooooow moving, ridiculously late, and not through unless you run them down. read more

I hired Mahogany strictly by zip code to clean an empty house a family member had bought. The hourly rate was higher than the others, but Victoria said all the right things about getting a good cleaning. The two workers were thorough, but seemed to stretch the work to make the quoted time. I inspected the difficult jobs, but did not go over every inch - imagine my surprise to find out that no cupboards had been cleaned! They were empty - how hard is that! So I had to do it, after things had been moved in when it is much more difficult. Victoria's attitude was that I should have checked everything - since they work by the hour, if I had noticed before they left, it would have meant paying them an extra couple of hours on top of what was a generous amount of time for an empty, 1100 sq ft house! Victoria did not acknowledge that they should have done the work, nor did she offer any compensation in time or money. I know the workers know that cupboards must be cleaned, as they were very thorough otherwise, so I figure it is a way of making more money: use up the allotted time, then when the missed tasks are noticed - and they are obvious, like the dirty floor mentioned in the previous post, you must pay more. At least that's the only reason I can figure that major, obvious tasks would not have been done. Even if I had demanded they come back and finish, we had no time before the move - if people allot time based on Mahogany's estimate, it is a real inconvenience when they don't perform as promised. If you have to use Mahogany, I would specify each task in writing - I did it verbally - and then hold them to the quoted price and finish the job without billing more time. And tell them you expect all the job done in the amount of time estimated. It's too bad, as they would have had a regular cleaning job with us. read more

We used Mahogany to clean our home's carpets and area rugs before we put it up for sale. They did a thoroughly wonderful job and all of the rugs and carpets were super clean when they left. Everything was finished to our satisfaction. They were timely as well in so far as keeping their appointment schedule (I really hate it when you make an appointment with a company and they show up two hours late). This was the worst cleaning service I've ever experienced. The two (male) cleaners reeked of cigarette smoke and seemed like they've never cleaned a house before. I was supposed to get 1.5 hours with two people, but one of the guys immediately disappeared for 40 minutes apparently "looking for parking," even after I told him he could park in the driveway. They used the cheapest, most chemical-smelling cleaning products, and a filthy mop to clean my floor. When I wiped the floor with a paper towel after they were "done," it came up black and dirtier than before. They were extremely sloppy and I had to ask them several times to go over areas they missed or ignored. They acted put out when I pointed things out to them and still didn't clean sufficiently. They also didn't stay the full time -- they came at 9 a.m. and left at 10:20, not to mention the 40 minutes the one guy missed. I didn't bother to ask them to stay longer because their attitude made me feel so uncomfortable. I spent the rest of the day re-cleaning the house myself. Never again. read more

I am beyond pleased when I called Mahogany Cleaning Services last minute in the morning and Victoria was able to book me a crew right away in the afternoon. The crew did a phenomenal job and went above and beyond my expectations. The professionalism of this company was what impressed me the most and they were diligent in their services and took the time to really listen to what I needed and surpass my expectations. I will DEFINITELY be using their services again for follow up cleaning and am so thankful to have found them! They are so thorough! read more

Purchased a Living Social coupon. The deal said the "crew" would show up for 3 hours. When I called to book, I was told a single person would come for 3 hours, or a crew for 1.5. I was concerned about that short time frame. The woman said it would be no problem. When the guys showed up, they said there was no way they could clean my whole house. So...I asked to have three bathrooms and the kitchen cleaned. They said they could do that, in the time allotted. Although they did a great job in the bathrooms, they didn't finish the kitchen, and once their timer bell went off, they left. Not the "deal" I paid for, or that I expected. I spoke to them on the phone afterward, and the woman said no one else has complained. Just know you're not gonna get what you paid for. read more
