Believe the reviews on this place! I ordered vegetable dumplings and they were basically all dough and no vegetables. They also give you very little food where as other Chinese food give you better potions for the same price. I used to go here as a kid and the quality was so much better back then and now its just a disappointment! I won't be returning. read more

They screw up orders constantly. I literally spelled out the item I wanted from the menu and they STILL delivered me the wrong thing. I ordered eel over a bed of rice, an ENTREE and I received a 2 piece order of eel. Both are spelled differently, both are from different parts of the menu, as well as different prices. The funny thing? The person taking my order also screwed up my credit card number and they put someone on the phone to verify that correctly but not my order. Great customer service. Food-wise this is an above average Chinese restaurant. In terms of customer service, they are awful, plus they rob their customer. Mai's Place is very overpriced. 10 dollars for plain vegetables, or 8 dollars for chicken wings is a rip off. Their "let's rip off Americans who like Chinese food" philosophy extends to their customer service. I ordered an entree and they said it included a full order of white rice. When I pick it up I am told it is not and they proceeded to charge me 3 dollars for it. First, they charged me for a mistake they admitted they made, 2nd, 3 dollars is a rip off. Other places include rice with your entree. Guess when there is no other Chinese restaurant within a 4 to 5 mile radius, you can be like this. This penny wise pound foolish will catch up with them. If you want a great alternative, go to Chinatown on the Canton/Sharon line in Cobbs Corner. Great service, large portions, and great food. read more

I have eaten here a few times I would recommend there food but not for a large family there prices are a bit steep. The good is great quality and presented well but as far as American Chinese goes I'm more of a quality and taste person because a lot of it looks very similar. read more

I'm just gonna give mai place 4 stars because of how much i used to love this joint. I don't really go anymore because their options are not the friendliest to the figure, but i definitely had lunch and dinner/takeout here at least once a month for about 6 years. the sushi is great. always fresh, always creative. the baked scallop and seafood shell is bomb. Dumplings are out of this world. That shrimp dish with candied walnuts is really good too. All the fried rice is yummy. Lo mein is interesting. Very thin noodles. Idk if everyone loves that, but i do. The special mai tai will get you hammered in about 1.8 servings. The staff is so sweet and polite here, always refill the waters and ask if you are doing alright with your meal. The owner is a really nice guy as well. They have a second location called "Mai Pearl" in Foxboro and it's pretty much the same thing, but much bigger. I personally like it better, but i know some of my friends disagree. read more

The maki rolls are the best. I keep trying new places for sushi in and around Boston, and we always end up comparing the food to Mai Place's (it's that good). If I had to narrow it down to 2 dishes it would be the Mai Dragon Maki and Arizona Maki. Their Seafood 3 Delight is good too. New to the area so I figured I'd try Mai Place. I wanted to love this place soooo bad but the service and food was beyond disappointing. Delivery was took well over 1hr and 30mins! I ordered chicken and broccoli. It was so watery I literally had to pour some of the watery broccoli juice in the trash. I asked while placing my order if each meal came with a mini white rice she said yes. We ordered two meals and got one rice. Sadly, 18 months later, a group of us went for dinner and had, at best, an unpleasant experience. Though the brightly lit dining room was fairly empty, we were seated up front with no option to move and a draft from the front door. The waitress was evasive, then annoyed, when asked about MSG. Turns out most appetizers have it added or included. Food was blah. It's really sad when the best dish you get is steamed vegetables. Maybe it was an off night. Went on Saturday for dinner. Very cute place, awesome ambiance. We ordered the Tidbit B (eggroll, crab ragoon, chicken wings and spare ribs), chicken lo mein, and general gau's chicken. The appetizers were great: the eggroll had real pork, the chicken wings were perfectly cooked to crisp perfection and the spare ribs were meaty. The chicken lo mein was fantastic! The portion was huge which was great because I got to enjoy it again on Sunday! It was a tad bit oily so if you're sensitive to oils I say eat less of it. The general gau's chicken was REAL chicken, not the mystery chicken you get from typical Chinese restaurants. Best general gau's chicken and lo mein i've ever had! I guess im a fan. Love their sesame chicken, boneless spareribs and crab rangoons. Its maybe a tad more expensive than your typical Chinese place, but its not that over greasy, all you can eat buffet type slop that seems to dominate our obese American culture. Sushi is made fresh and quite tasty. Highly recommend the pineapple fried rice also On a side note, they really need to get some more experienced servers. Each time ive dined in there, the waitresses seemed clueless and needed to be reminded several times of several things. not a deal-braker but pretty annoying Also, the owner/manager? of this restaurant is a little rude. I ordered takeout and asked for a duck sauce. she told me duck sauce only comes with appetizers and explained to me I didn't order appetizers? wow ok. first time for everything I suppose. what Chinese restaurant doesn't give you duck sauce if you ask?. I understand my sesame chicken is coated in sugar. but I want MORE. MORE. (like the little girl in the commercial) MORE. Walked in and ordered take out for one dish, then changed my mind and asked to be seated--expected standard service and fully intended to tip (I'm no asshole). Received no service at all . Even had to ask for a glass of water. Strange, but fine. Asked to get what I had remaining packed--manager then chastises me for trying to game the system, thinks I was trying to get away with not paying tip for an 8 dollar meal. (Read above--I'm no asshole). I can get where he's coming from if I actually received some service. Terrible, essentially non-existent customer service at Mai Place. Wonderful restaurant. We usually order delivery as we are in the next town, but recently stopped in. We were greeted by multiple smiling faces and a woman saying "welcome!" The bartender Raymond hooked us up with a couple of his special Mai Tais that did the trick. The food is always wonderful, we recommend the boneless honey spareribs, Soft shell crab maki, Basil fried rice with shrimp and Hong Kong noodle (crispy noodles with vegetables and chicken beef and shrimp). Ordered lunch here for work this past weekend. Had the chicken teriyaki bento box, which was pretty good. Especially loved the miso soup! Also had spicy tuna maki and that was good as well. The only thing I would complain about is the $3 delivery fee that was added on. I think there should only be a fee if you order under a certain amount. I had about $17 worth of food that became $20. $3 might not seem like a lot, but it'll deter me from ordering for delivery next time because I wouldn't want to pay it. Yelp comes through again! Although not much to look at from the outside, inside the atmosphere is relaxing and friendly. It's much larger than it looks due to large room in rear. Food was very good and not run of the mill Chinese. Husband had sushi assortment and said it was good. Pad Thai had fresh delicious pea pods but could have been spicier. Well, now I have been to Mai Place twice. I would give it 2.7 stars if possible. It was decent, but rather, well, meh. Last night we started with some appetizers (there were three of us). We got the Scallion Pancake, which was okay, but could have used more scallion. Very few scallions. I don't know about you, but I don't order the scallion pancake just for the wrapper-bread. We also ordered one of the tidbit platters. Not usually my thing, but it was about what I expected. The usual terriyaki, chicken fingers and boneless spareribs. Nothing outstanding here, but fine. For dinner, we ordered a Spicy chicken and String bean dish and the Mongolian Beef (at least a decent amount of scallions) Only problem with the two dishes is that the sauces were nearly identical. I wasn't expecting that. I was hoping for two rather distinctive dishes, and I could have mixed them both up and not noticed. So, the food was edible, but unimpressive. I saw a lot of people eating sushi, and it seems that is their big thing here, perhaps that is their strong point. On the positive, the service was friendly and prompt. They did forget to pack up our leftover appetizers with our leftover food, but hey, I don't fault them too much for that. Also, the restaurant is clean, which is important, especially in a sushi establishment. read more

The staff is friendly but even when it's not particularly busy, you'll definitely wait awhile for service. If you're in a rush, I'd look elsewhere. I'm so happy to live close to Mai Place. The food is excellent, the portions are gigantic, and there's so much on the menu it gets hard to pick sometimes! I've never actually eaten in the restaurant, but my family gets take out from here very often. We feel great that $40-50 can feed an entire family, for at least 3 days. Mai Place has decent sushi and Chinese food. My husband and I would have never tried this place out but I read reviews on Yelp and decided to try it out. We've only gotten take out at Mai Place. Their sushi is fresh and delicious for a Suburban restaurant. We've gotten the shrimp tempura maki, California maki, Rainbow maki and soft shell crab maki. But this past weekend, my friend and I decided to do Chinese takeout. The place was pretty packed but their restaurant is also fairly small. We ordered seaweed salad, sweet and sour chicken (the batter was crispy on the outside but a little undone in the inside), crab rangoons (very good!), and vegetable fried rice. Overall, we really enjoyed the food. It was the perfect take out for a girl's night in on a Saturday night. I would recommend this place. Ordered take out here 2 weeks ago for lunch. The service was great even with just take out service. We ordered only appetizers but it was delicious. I couldn't find one thing to complain about. The beef teriyaki was flavorful and the crab Rangoon filling was very good as well. It wasn't too clumpy or powdery like some places are. The spareribs were juicy and full of flavor as well. I have no complaints considering what we ordered. Was gonna order here last week for delivery but when we saw that there was a $3 delivery charge not including tip, it was a downfall. I think that's just a little overprice for delivery fee. I can understand if someone ordered less than $10 and they wanna charge $3 but it's a lot if someone was to order here often. read more

Definitely a hidden gem for sushi lovers. My dh and I would drive 30min to eat sushi here. Their price is a bargain for what you get and the sushi is very fresh all the times we've gone there. I know they go into Boston for their fishes so it might depend on the day of the week where you get the most fresh fish. We usually order the sashimi plater which comes with 18 generous pieces, a salad, soup for less than $26 or 28 (I can't recall). The makis are also delicious. Can't go wrong with this place for sushi. They also serve Chinese food here. I can't say much for it since we've only ordered items from the Chinese menu once. read more
