Everything is always so fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared homemade with love. Our server Karina is the best! She's always so happy, sweet, and attentive. You can tell the whole team there really cares because everyone is friendly and provides great service. Some of our favorite starters are the fresh rolls, vegetarian rolls and chicken dumplings. Oh my what happened to this restaurant Mai Thai on Main? We used to love to come here but will NEVER return!! Consider other options for Thai in Cottonwood or Sedona. saving your dollars and choose another Thai restaurant, this was an awful experience! First let me start with the ambience the atmosphere absolutely unwelcoming so don't believe their website generous portions of curry is false advertising and another disappointment. We had a small bowl served to us on a larger plate of the Massaman Curry with chicken. and an order of shrimp rolls. I did not order off the lunch menu. Next this person by the name of "Lucas" (I asked him his name that's how I know) definitely shouldn't be doing the job as a server, (a better position would be in the kitchen washing dishes with no face-to-face contact with customers), might have given him a pass thinking it was having a bad day but not so. We were the second table in the restaurant at 1:30 and what I witnessed was unacceptable! Hardly anyone in the place and we should have known and gotten up and left then. This Lucas person posing as a server had an attitude with a grudge or something. When we finally got our food delivered 25 min later by a Kitchen worker (not our server) we got these fried vegetarian egg rolls when we ordered shrimp rolls. When I finally flagged him down to let him know, (he was sitting at the bar watching TV) I was told oh I must've hit the wrong button did you want me to order you those shrimp rolls...? Duh! No manager on site was told they don't have a manager just an owner. Sheesh he was sitting at the bar. ( sidenote Lucas should be retrained or replaced, No exceptions) Restaurant shame on them... Additionally a fee of 3% is charged if you use your credit card they want cash only. I understand that most places are doing this now but was never disclosed anyway. I could go on but will not. Since I'm enjoying my own home-cooked Thai meal. Do yourselves a favor, save your dollars or spend it with someone more appreciative and with those who enjoy their job, have a little pride, and more importantly respect the customers that come in to spend their money. Mai Thai prepares good Thai food. I have enjoyed all of their curry dishes. The Tom Kha soup is delicious. Recently I ordered the Chicken Satay Skewers. Those were good and the peanut dipping sauce was an excellent accompaniment. The crispy Fresh Rolls were so good that my daughter ate the entire order, not sharing a single one! I came into this location on December 21, 2023, with a companion to try some Thai food on our last evening in Cottonwood. Based upon the location of this restaurant, we didn't expect the highest caliber of food but did expect more of a resemblance to authentic Thai cuisine. Let's get to it, shall we? What I got: Tom Yum Hot Pot with shrimp For those who have read any of my previous reviews on Thai cuisine or of Tom Yum, it is known that I am particular about this dish as I have enjoyed it in various parts of Thailand as well as the globe. This Tom Yum included many traditional elements such as lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves and bamboo shoots. However, what was added to this dish and was unexpected was cabbage and broccoli (insert confused face). If making a vegetable Tom Yum, one would use galangal, lime leaves, lemon grass, and hot chile paste, mushrooms, bok choy, etc (not broccoli or cabbage). The cabbage and broccoli in this hot pot seemed to act as a filler in this dish and not a welcomed one. Aside from the ingredient faux pas, the flavor was muted on this dish. Garlic Delight with Shrimp This dish did have garlic indeed but was light on shrimp. The dish was pan cooked as opposed to fried. The garlic used on this dish seemed as if it was pre-minced and not freshly chopped. The dish was an okay shrimp dish but it was not a "Thai" dish as it did not include any traditional Thai elements. The service in the location was prompt as we arrived when the location opened for the evening and the service remained prompt as the establishment began to fill with guests. However, the food isn't authentic but will please those who may have not experienced Thai cuisine before. If you are in the Cottonwood area, this location is one that can wait until you've experienced other dining experiences in the area. $110.40 with tip for two for this experience. read more

First visit. I wish I never tried this place. Ordered Tom Yum hot sour soup. It had so many items in it that you couldn't even chew and if you swallowed any of it, you may have ended up in the ER. There were bone pieces and these noodle colored noodle looking things that were oblong with sharp ends. Little sticks and pieces of sticks.I tried to research what they might have been but seriously no clue. I'll try to attach a picture of it. Then the entree was sweet and sour with chicken. No where did it say it was tempura chicken. Yuck! Terrible flavor and it soaked up all the juice which made it soggy tempura chicken. I'm sad it was this bad. Guess I ordered the wrong items. Believe me, I tried. Just horrible. The place was fairly nice looking but dirty. One waitress told a youngster to stop yelling. Our waiter was a zombie. He stood 2+ feet away from the table while taking the order and some else delivered the food. I'm mad that we didn't say something. I just wanted to pay and leave. In retrospect....I think the pieces of non food items were added was intentionally. 2 people sharing a soup and one meal probably pissed them off. I was traveling through Cottonwood Az with a couple who (amazingly) had never eaten Thai food. Tried Mai Thai on Main for their first Thai meal. Pad Thai was pitiful. A one-inch snip of green onion seemed to be the only vegetable. A few thin slices of chicken and bland sauce. It was basically a two-pound container of noodles. Also, we nicknamed their Spring Rolls "Lettuce Rolls." We ordered takeout. Perhaps dine-in is better, but if so it is a bad commentary that they would serve worse food for takeout. This was our first visit since purchasing our vacation home in Cottonwood in 2019. We don't know how long this restaurant has been in business, but we have been visiting the Verde Valley every year since the 1980's. Although it is evident we passed by its location several times, we simply never noticed this restaurant. The exterior is very unassuming. We very much enjoy Thai food. We dine at a few restaurants near our primary home, as well as many other Asian restaurants that blanket our and neighboring cities. Our favorite Thai restaurant in AZ is The Wild Thaiger in Phoenix. Anyway, I suppose we had been hesitant to try a Thai food restaurant, or any other Asian food restaurant in Cottonwood or in the rest of the Valley given the demographics of the communities. So we never searched them out. This changed on Friday, May 24, 2024. A friend of ours, and also a full-time resident, invited us to join her for dinner at this restaurant. We gave in to our hesitations and accompanied her. Upon entering, we noticed the interior to be quaint, leaning towards the more homely side. The persons working were certainly reflective of a home visit. Particularly those working in the kitchen. Which isn't necessarily bad. But don't expect the look of a polished restaurant. However, the staff members were friendly, and welcoming. So anticipate a warm greeting. We ordered two No. 38 Garlic Delight (Chicken), one No. 42 Spicy Basil (Chicken), one side of Shrimp Roll, and one side of Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura. The reviews of the Garlic Delight were mixed. One person enjoyed the dish, and the other thought it was okay. The opinion of that person was the dish was a bit over garlicky. I enjoyed the Spicy Basil, medium spice. I thought the taste was a nice blend of sweet and spicy. The protein servings were large, as they were in the other two dishes. The servings also offered a nice helping of vegetables. The Shrimp roll was nicely prepared, the roll being flaky. However, the Tempura was nothing like Tempura. The entire dish was burn't. The color very dark, and the texture like sandpaper. The items were very difficult to eat. Tempura sauce is not offered with the dish. Only something more in-line with a thicker sweet sauce. Consequently we didn't enjoy this dish. And upon reflection, the server did apologize for the wait on our appetizers as she mentioned something about a fryer problem. At the time the group was engaged in conversation so we simply advised her not to worry. Maybe the state of the Tempura dish was a rarity? But they should have never served it the way we received the dish. All-in-all, the visit was okay. My wife advised she does not want to return, but I will be prompting her to give it another try. I am sure there are other offerings that will be pleasing to the both of us. But this restaurant deserves one more try. We do appreciate their effort so we left our customary 25%, and my wife also handed the worker cleaning up at closing a generous tip for being so friendly. Prior to returning, we will try the other Thai restaurant in old Cottonwood. We are hopeful between them, one restaurant will become our go-to Thai restaurant. We do miss eating Asian food during our stays in the community. read more

This is not authentic thai food. We were traveling thru and picked up these two dishes: spicy basil chicken (rice) and a noodle dish (pad kee mao). At the first glance, both dishes looked exactly the same. And taste wise, they are really just stir fry vegetable, except one with rice, the other noodle. I am not a local to this place but I have had enough thai food to know this restaurant is somewhat deceiving their customers. Their customer service is also in need for improvement. Recently ate lunch there. They renovated and the place looked good but the food was not. Ordered the vegetarian curry with brown rice. The "curry" tasted like it was watered down and sugar added. There were only a few veggies and the dish wasn't filling at all. My partner said his dish was just okay. There's not much of an Asian food scene here in Cottonwood, so this place pretty much is it. The restaurant needs a makeover for sure as the inside is outdated and looks clustered. Everyone is always nice and friendly. We got seated right away and the server was there in a second. So we got our normal go to stuff and it was good.
