We arrived about 30 minutes before closing. The server let us know we could be seated in around 15 minutes since a table was about to finish. While the information was helpful, her demeanor felt quite tired and unwelcoming, which was a bit off-putting. We were seated shortly after. My husband ordered the Penang Curry, and I decided to try the Thai Pasta. The wait for the food was fairly long. I would recommend the Curry--the soup was very flavorful and comforting. Unfortunately, the pasta had a strange, overly sour taste and wasn't enjoyable for me. On a positive note, this place seems to be one of the more affordable dining options in Sedona. Many other restaurants charge extra for proteins like chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp, but here there was no additional charge for chicken or pork. We ordered take out after a long day of hiking, and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the fried wontons, tofu Panang (medium), tofu pad see ew (medium), and mango sticky rice. This place was okay for a some takeout on NYE but it was a long wait. We were originally told our food would be ready in about 30 minutes but it was more like an hour. Fresh rolls were nice with a great peanut sauce but the other entrees were rather unremarkable but we were so grateful that they were open and able to provide us with food because we could not get reservations for sit down dining at our preferred restaurants. Went here because of the reviews after a day in sedona looking for a nice place to eat on the way back to las vegas but the food wasn't good at all. Got the Thai Boba and the Boba was not soft but like little marbles not edible. It was over $7 you would think it would be better. The pad Thai which is simple to make and you can't really mess up was really bad. The noodles were so over cooked it stuck together like a giant ball of starch. Do not let the unassuming outside of this restaurant discourage you from trying Tara Thai! It is soooo delicious. We got the Duck curry, coconut chicken soup and a noddle dish. (I wish I had memorized the Thai names for the dishes so I could share...) they had lots of vegetarian options and an extensive menu. The mandatory gratuity was not clearly stated on the menu or visible signage. 2. The service did not justify the charge at all -- no water refills, and we had to ask multiple times for napkins before getting any. As for the food, the Thai dishes were just average. The prices are understandable for a tourist area, so I don't really mind that part, but the hidden service charge and poor service experience were disappointing. We will also be submitting complaints to the Arizona Attorney General Consumer Protection Division and the Better Business Bureau (BBB) regarding the undisclosed mandatory gratuity and deceptive billing practices. read more

Tara Thai is still one of my favorite restaurants in town, my go-to place, and some of the best Thai food I have ever had in the US. The staff are always kind and friendly, the place cozy and casual, and the food delicious. My favorite dishes are gang curry, Sedona Heatwave (loaded with vegetables, complex and yummy flavor), chicken satay, and the fresh rolls. They do get busy, especially during heavy tourist times, so to-go orders and getting a table can sometimes mean waiting, but it's worth it. read more

This place was recommended to us by our airbnb host. It's small but mighty! One gal was serving all the tables, and she was incredible!! One of the best servers I've had all year. My husband and I shared an entree and an appetizer. For our appetizer, we got the tempura shrimp. I was a little apprehensive to pay $13 for 4 shrimp, but it came with other fried veggies too! Delightful! For our entree, we ordered the Kao Pad Prik with pork, and we got it at a medium spice level. It was really yummy! The spice wasn't as hot as I was anticipating. The flavor was excellent. We inhaled both of our dishes! We came in a little before 2pm on a Saturday, and it was steady. The restaurant was almost full, and as tables left, more people came in to replace! I have eaten here many many times and the food is always delicious. I don't know if they have a new cook, but the orange chicken was overcooked, my tea was cold, the table was dirty like they had wiped it with a dirty Rag and you could see where they had wiped everything and it was absolutely freezing. The sweet and sour or hot and sour soup was so spicy we couldn't eat it and we asked for it to be a two and the service was horrendous. Not sure I would go back and it was a real disappointment because it was my friend's birthday. I do know that this place sold a year ago and I feel like it's gone downhill. That they fry tofu!!! they ruin the vegetable dish with rice a healthy meal with Fried Nasty tasting tofu in oil. Disgusting who does that in America. It completely ruined the dish! I had to go to the kitchen to get Soft tofu and I just should have returned the whole dish and made them do it over,but no I didn't I just got a bowl of soft tofu and they charge me $3.00 more $ on top of 14.95 Plus 5.00. so 23.00 outrageous It's not my fault they do not know English and they r in our country.my last dinning experience There. Tara Thai did NOT disappoint! We placed a takeout order over the phone and our order was ready within 20 minutes, just as the restaurant had suggested. We enjoyed our delicious chicken noodles and pad thai at the top of the Yavapai trail while simultaneously enjoying a sunset view. We ordered to go on Sunday night as we were driving in to Sedona. Their online ordering platform is super easy to use and a nice way to know your order is correct. We ordered Tom Kai gai, princess chicken and pad Thai chicken and shrimp. Soup was perfect. Princess chicken was like a curry with the liquid and delicious. The side of rice was very very small though. Pad Thai was supposed to be medium heat and it was so spicy we couldn't hardly eat it. Thai tea was kinda weird tasting (it was a little minty for some reason) and food was okay. Kids had pad thai, crab fried rice & chicken satay (forgot to take a pic) and the rest of us had green and yellow curry. I have a wimpy tongue so I asked for mild but OML my curry was SO HOT I cannot fathom how other people like that feeling of pepper pain on their tongues. Not fun for me. Husband & kids liked the seafood fried rice; the rest of our party just kind of picked at our food. Strange because like I said, we really live Thai cuisine. If I could give 0 stars I would. The service here was terrible. We waited 2 hours for our food. Meanwhile people who sat after us were getting their food before us. The waitress didn't write down any of our orders. I thought helpings of the food would be larger based on previous pictures. But doesn't matter bc the food wasn't good anyways. The pad Thai had some noodles that were way undercooked in it. The yellow curry was over salted and didn't have potatoes in it and the veggies were undercooked. The chicken satay was under salted and rubbery in texture. The Tom yum was the one decent thing. They also never told us until we waited for over an hour that they were out of the veggie rolls, feel like they could have told us that way earlier. Overall just really bad experience and yes it was understaffed but there should be some sense of prioritization of orders that were placed before. Would never come again and would recommend against coming. They also charged us after making us wait for a dish we didn't order. Wow! I'd say I know a pretty darn good Thai food and despite how the impression of walking to a quiet and empty inside appeared initially, the food was 8-9(out of 10). I had a Drnken noodle and it came with varieties of fresh veg and just right noodle(not oily or weird taste). It was simply seasoned but all of the ingredients bursted with flavors. I wasn't a big fan of the Pad Thai as it had an unique (prob single seasoning)that stood out that created a bit of imbalance for my liking. In a matter of a few minutes, several "regulars" showed up as both the servers and the customers acknowledged eachother and the table started to fill up quickly.
