*Home delivery review* Was craving some light dumplings and decided to go with Mai Xiang Yuan to relive some old memories from my student days... and that was a great idea! Ordered: Fungus salad -5/5. Portion was huge ! fungus mushrooms were fresh and crisp, perfectly seasoned. This is exactly how I remembered the salad to be! Beef curry dumplings -5/5. Tasty beef filling in light dumplings wrappers. Porc coriander dumplings -5/5. Fresh coriander explosion at the first bite. This is my favourite filling. Overall, was super happy with my order and would definitely recommend MXY ! #supportlocal

Tried this place because it is the same restaurant as the other one in Chinatown (1082 Boulevard Saint-Laurent, Montreal, QC H2Z 1J5) It was around 10pm and the waitress let us know that they only had 4 dumping choices left. We ordered the pork, shrimp, and leek fried which adds 1.50$ to the price. Food was served really fast. The dumplings were decent, quality was the same as the other restaurant which is a really good sign. The service was quick and rushed (because they were closing at midnight and they wanted to close the kitchen early I guess.) I enjoyed my time here and think the dumplings are good enough given the price. I can't really vouch for the authenticity of the cuisine but I liked it and would go back. Tip: Cash Only, there is an ATM and it adds 1.50$ to withdraw

4 stars for the fried beef dumplings, the regular pork soup dumplings and the siu Mai. All were tasty! Best beef fried dumplings ever. 4 stars for the service- all attentive and super nice (even when my dad complained). The 3 stars for overall review because idk, there wasn't anything in particular about the overall experience I guess. Should really be a 3.5 (really wishing yelp had half stars for this review) -the sweet soup dumplings I wouldn't recommend getting. Although it is something different I've never had before, I just think the sweet XLB is not something that should exist. Didn't really go together -the hot and sour soup has a kick to it that isn't in a good way. The chili left a bad aftertaste that made people cough -the noodles that came with the siu Mai combo- the soup is too salty with the noodles but the actual noodles were ok (even tho my dad complained the noodles are undercooked)

Amazing place. We went here on a friday night at 5:30pm and we were lucky to be seated. Only thirty minutes later, the whole place was packed! We had appetizers, steamed dumplings, xiaolongbao's and fried dumplings, and they were ok. The pork/beef dumplings are amazing, but the vegetable dumplings were a bit underwhelming. Pay them a visit, it's worth your money.

Great dumpling place in Chinatown. Many options fried, steamed or in soup. Family style. Fresh and delicious! Deceitfully filling food! Walked in and the family was eating together. I welcome this environment and vibe. Owner also didn't even need my change when I payed for the order--he rounded to the lower dollar! You can even order homemade frozen dumplings for later!

Taking the price into consideration, 'mai xiang yuan' gets the upper hand on 'qing hua' by ~2$ on 15 fried dumplings. I had pork and cabbage fried dumplings at both places and they tasted quite similar although I found mai xiang yuan's pork tasted fresher and not frozen. So far the best dumplings I've had in MTL

this place has surprisingly good reviews. However, when I tasted their dumpling soup it was pretty much like old sock water with little chunks of lettuce floating in it. The dumplings themselves were aight, nothing special. Perhaps they have better dishes. No hate tho. The Staff was moderately nice. I invite you to try it.

One of several Chinese dumpling places in what I like to call the "China-town west" neighborhood (AKA Shaughnessy Village). Nice place, pretty empty at four in the afternoon... My server was very friendly and was easy to communicate with. The menu offered many of the familiar varieties of "traditional" fried or boiled/steamed dumplings with pork, beef, lamb, shrimp, tofu, and various vegetables. I was pleased to note that they offered several vegetarian (5 varieties) and vegan (4 varieties) friendly dumplings, although, it should be noted, that as with most of the other Asian doling places I have been to, shrimp is considered a "vegetable". I also double checked for my vegan friends, and can confirm the wrapper of the non-meat dumplings contain NO EGG. I sampled two of their boiled vegetarian dumpling offerings: #46, Tofu & cabbage and #47, corn with edamame & carrot. I preferred #46 personally in both texture and flavor, but both where very good, much better than other dumplings I have had in the past that where filled with bland glass noodles (I mean *really* who wants a noodle filled with noodles???) They took a bit of time getting to the table, but I assume that it just meant they where very fresh! And they where piping hot when they arrived. The order had 15 dumplings and the bill came to under $12 with tax. I would go there again.

    Delicious steamed dumplings.

We had an adventure into the city and stopped to try dumplings at Mai Xiang Yuan. The place was cozy and very quiet. The waitress seated us and served water as soon as we came in. I wish I could say the water tasted wonderful, but we ended up ordering sodas to go with our dumplings. We ordered the shrimp and cilantro steamed dumplings, beef and cilantro fried dumplings, and the beef curry fried dumplings. Our party of four enjoyed these tremendously! We had a wonderful time and the atmosphere was very comfortable. We took a vote and although, we enjoyed the fried dumplings, three out of the four of us voted the steamed dumplings to be the best! Happy eating!

On a friday night, not too many clients. We sat and they serve us an interesting Green tea. We ordered fried dumplings (Pork chinese cabbage and pork & shrimp). Quick after-supper snack. LOL The waiting time was incredibly long for some reasons. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the 2nd serving of tea and great conversation. The dumplings were tasty :D . I especially like the pork & shrimp one. I am bias. I don't usually eat dumplings, but when I do, the fried one tasted damned good. Relaxing place. No one seems to be in a hurry. I would go again for Tea and good price dumplings.

A lot of variety of dumplings and others kind of foods. You also can have several sort of the famous xiao long bao, but a bit less than others dumpling restaurants in Montréal though. However, it is really delicious and the staff are really kind and welcoming!

The Long Version: I love hand pulled noodles, so my husband and I had lunch here. He's not a fan of noodle soups but agreed to come and just have appetizers, lol. I got the small-sized Spicy Mushrooms and Chicken Noodle Soup ($13.99). I chose the #6 size noodles which is the thickest noodles they offer. My husband got the imperial rolls ($4.50 for 3) and the fried shrimp wontons ($11.99 for 10). I really enjoyed my soup, especially the thick noodles. They were chewy and the right amount of softness. There were chicken pieces in it, mushrooms and a delicious "tofu sausage." It also had 2 pieces of baby Bok Choy and some pieces of kelp. I wished there was more vegetables. The soup also had green onions and cilantro. The broth was a tiny bit spicy from the chili oil. I am happy that this soup does not have sesame seeds in it, so I didn't have to ask them to hold the sesame seeds. Lol. My only complaint would be that the broth was a bit too salty and too oily for my tastes. I still thought it was good though. My husband enjoyed his appetizers. The imperial rolls were vegetarian. I didn't have any, but they looked like nothing special to me, haha. However, the hubby liked them which is what matters. The fried shrimp wontons looked good and he liked those too. Service was pleasant and efficient. The decor is casual with some fun touches. I liked the rotating lanterns with lights on the ceiling and the drawings of a big squid and clams on the walls. I would return to try their other noodle soups and also their handmade dumplings. Review #10 (2026)

My places to see and eat were already listed and Aunt Dai was on the top of that list of the Montréal food scene. After a flight and long day of exploring, the cold Canadian weather made me crave some warm and delicious Chinese food. But due to lack of energy I decided to order it through DoorDash. After watching so many YouTube and TikTok videos of this place I ordered food from here with high expectations only for them to come crashing down. My order of the spring rolls were mediocre at best but edible. The beef broccoli was a disappointment is to say the least. It seemed like they boiled the beef, carrots and broccoli together and dumbed some soy sauce over it. The sauce was runny, I had asked for extra sauce not watered down soy sauce. Flavor profile was completely missing from the dish. Beef wasn't marinated, fried or stir fried and then mixed with broccoli. It was only Boiled!!! No effort was actually applied into creating this dish. For my first Chinese meal in Canada I was definitely left feeling dissatisfied.

The Long Version: My husband and I had dinner here and we really enjoyed it. I initially was going to get their soup dumplings (their specialty), but when I looked at the menu, I saw that they had Laksa ($18.99), so I couldn't resist ordering that instead. My husband prefers pan-fried dumplings over soup dumplings, so he got the pork and mushroom dumplings ($14.50) and there was a $1.99 surcharge for pan-frying (the base price is for steamed). My Laksa was huge and delicious. The broth was so rich with coconut milk and a bit spicy. It was really flavourful. The noodles had a nice chew to them. The soup also contained some decent-sized shrimp, velvetized sliced chicken, cubes of tofu and a boiled egg. I wished it had some vegetables in though because I felt very unhealthy eating just starch and protein, lol. I did enjoy it though ;) I had one of my husband's dumplings and it was good. It had ground pork in it and chopped up mushrooms. There was a slight gingery taste to it. I liked it and my husband liked them too. Service was very pleasant. The server refilled our waters regularly and I like that the water had ice in it and was very cold. The restaurant is not too large and has seating on a main level then up a few steps they have 4 more tables of 4 by the front window. We walked there from our hotel, but as with pretty much all businesses in The Plateau it's street parking only. Review #209 (2025)

I was expecting a more flavored experience and maybe that is not what they do or I could have ordered differently. The menu is huge so it is hard to know where to start. We went here because of the good Yelp reviews. Were we arrived in Chinatown there were many other places that looked great, so we loitered at the door for a minute while deciding what to do. As we loitered a family came out and noticed us and asked if were were going to Keung Kee. We said we were thinking about it and they said just go, it is the best restaurant in Chinatown. Sold. We went in, up the stairs, waited a bit, and got a table. This is the kid of place you need to bring a lot of people because that is whet it is built for, the menu is extensive, and the portions are huge. We puzzled over the menu then ordered our food. We wanted a bottle of cold sake and the waiter brought it in an ice bucket. Nice. We started with the pork dumplings. The dumplings were very goof but came in a hot thick sweet peanut sauce. With a lighter sauce these would have been outstanding. The scallop was huge and had a bunch of stuff on it. There was some good scallop flavor but it was masked with all the stuff that tasted like old oil. The noodle dish was good but also had some old oil flavor coming from somewhere. All the meats and vegetables were nice and fresh but the good sauce I think was the source of the oil. We saw a table next to us had the pork chops and was asked, what are those? So we got that too. The chops were thin bone in with a batter fried then soaked in a vinegar sauce. These would have been good as our only item with a bowl of rice. Our co-eaters there had many good looking things. I would give this a try again but would bring a few more people so we could try more stuff. Total for all that including the sake was $100 Canadian. Not bad!
