I scheduled and paid $265 for what was supposed to be a deep clean, but the service ended up…read morefeeling rushed and incomplete and caused me a load of confusion.
When booking, I was very specific about what I needed done in my small vintage apartment (only about 500 sq ft required cleaning). They kept making it about the flat fee for square footage to which I kept asking a bunch of questions for add ons like "what if i have vintage tile with grout needing scrubbing" "what if my kitchen is tiny like 2 feet in diameter but tall ceilings so grime gets on outside of walls and upper cabinets?" "will the cleaner be comfortable using my 3 step to get those areas?" I even limited the scope by asking that my large bedroom and bathtub be skipped. I truly wanted the tile and floors and baseboards deep cleaned, no distractions. I also provided loads of cleaning supplies just in case that would deter someone. There were no dishes, laundry, trash, anything left out. I removed all books and clutter so all surfaces were empty.
The cleaner arrived nearly two hours late and seemed in a very bad mood right away. I was very understanding since I really needed the deep clean done today no matter what the start time was. She mentioned not having the proper materials and said certain tasks weren't included, despite everything being discussed beforehand. I showed her the materials I provided since she said she only has lysol and dish soap. I gave her everything she needed, but she was not in the mood to do a deep clean. She also appeared very fatigued from a previous job, which made me question why she was assigned to handle a deep clean on her own on the same day as a difficult one. At one point, she declined to clean areas entirely that were within easy reach, saying she couldn't access them and they are not included. I felt very confused from the start.
After contacting the company, I agreed to pay extra than our invoice to ensure the walls and baseboards were cleaned, as I really wanted the job done properly. Even with that added expense, large sections were left untouched: many parts of the kitchen walls, the exterior of the fridge, all baseboards, literally all dining area surfaces, and even some basic dusting and vacuuming in corners were ignored. There were full sections and mirrors completely untouched. The work that was completed felt hurried and inconsistent. Additionally, one of my expensive personal dish washing kitchen sponges that i had tucked away was used in the bathroom, which meant I had to discard it.
To their credit, the company did offer a small discount and was polite in their response. However, the actual cleaning experience was stressful and disappointing. I had spent significant time and energy beforehand moving furniture, rugs, and belongings so the cleaner could access floors and baseboards. I strained myself trying to give the cleaner as easy access as possible. Given that I had surgery last year, I was really counting on a thorough deep clean after not being able to maintain those areas fully myself.
Even the following day, I continued noticing missed spots. It left me feeling like I paid for a deep clean but received something much less. I have been in tears trying to clean up everything myself.
At first, I wondered if I misunderstood what a "deep clean" includes, but I no longer feel that way since I had been very clear throughout the booking process. It seemed more like the wrong cleaner was assigned, and she didn't want to take on the job from the start. I should have declined entirely when she walked in the door.
She also repeatedly went out to her car due to parking concerns, despite me reassuring her multiple times about the signage and even providing a parking pass that would 100% ensure she would not receive a ticket. I also offered her my off street parking spot to which she decline-- She wanted to leave as soon as possible.
I never leave reviews. I don't like to complain. I'm not an aggressive person and I try to be considerate and supportive, especially since my mom cleaned rooms her whole life. I approached this as a patient and understanding client initially but unfortunately, this experience didn't meet expectations and caused me a lot of unnecessary stress for the amount I spent.
Because of this, I won't be using this service again.
