    Pho dac biet

This is a small place that serves up some fantastic pho. There's 5 or 6 tables in the establishment so you might have to wait a bit if you go during a busy time. I got pho dac biet. The broth had some complexity to it and was the perfect amount of salty. The meat was all very tender - no stringy or tough bits which I really enjoyed My friend's banh mi to go looked and smelled delicious too.

If you want to look at the inflation closely, look at the old menu that's posted on yelp for this restaurant and look at the picture of the menu that I'm posting - the price essentially doubled. By the looks of it it's a husband and wife team running and managing this restaurant. Both seem to be very involved and super sweet. I live in California where Vietnamese restaurants are on every other corner and to my surprise this tiny hole in the wall Mom and Pop place was more expensive than most of the Vietnamese restaurants in one of the most expensive states in US. My Pho #5 was $18 and this particular soup is $15.99 at most on the West Coast. Of course they can charge anything they want, but I know that rent prices are more insane in downtown Los Angeles than they are in downtown Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, the amount of meat was not impressive and for $15.99 in Los Angeles or San Jose you get much more meat in this particular soup than I got here for 18 bucks. I asked for my rare steak to be on the side. They said "no". The only reason why someone would say no to this is if their meat is not visually appealing or not as fresh. I asked for Nuc Beo, which is skipped Fat with green onion and that also gave them a pause. The flavor of the soup was heavy on the spices, but I don't think they're boiling their beef bone as long as they could, as the broth was not as fragrant from the beef. Nevertheless, I had a really great experience and they were very polite and I still ate the soup so giving them less than three stars would not be fair. I ordered a Bahn Mi sandwich to go. Here it's called a hoagie. So they're definitely serving white people in this neighborhood. It was very dry, not visual, appealing, and I was disappointed in flavor. The prices are a disappointment.

It feels like you're sitting down for a family meal. Quiet and welcoming atmosphere. The most kind people. Pho is delicious.

I'm a big Pho guy, visiting Pittsburgh from Los Angeles, and I found Maiku and wow was it good! The noodles and broth tasted great, the service from the young man and young lady was professional and fast , good job guys, this pho location is small but worth the wait .

The pho was amazing Will definitely be back. This is a gem in Pittsburgh. Thank you for the free chocolate

Best pho in the area. Very unassuming, tiny shop in the heart of the strip district. There's probably 15 seats max in this shop. Quick, fast service and the Pho Dac Biet was delicious, I wish there was a bit more toppings but highly recommend! Apps were fresh and great too!

The best pho I've ever had in Pittsburgh! Not a big restaurant but the staff is very friendly! The grilled pork banh mi was also 10/10!

Fresh ingredients to put in the Pho

This is the 2nd time we've been here. My daughter LOVES Pho and she says this is the best she's had!! I love all the fresh ingredients they give you. It's always nice and hot. Quick and very friendly service! You can tell the owners care a lot about their food and their customers! Quaint little spot that is a special little secret! LOVE LOVE!!

Ate here today with my parents and sister to try this place out for dinner. We had gotten different kinds of pho soup to eat and enjoy ourselves individually. It was absolutely delicious and yummy that the pho soup was rich and not too salty at all. We couldn't agree more. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time when I visit Pittsburgh.

We picked up takeout on a Sunday afternoon and tag teamed it because parking is pretty slim pickings near the restaurant. I ran in and my better half circled the block. We tried the Banh Mi Pork hoagie which was a little too heavy on the bread and not stuffed enough. The flavor was good but the ratio was off. Their Com Ga Nuong (grilled chicken over rice) with a cuke salad and delicious fish sauce was really terrific and healthy. We also tried their Chicken and Beef Pho dishes which came nicely packaged for take-out so everything didn't get soggy. The broth had nice star anise flavoring and the jalapenos and bean sprouts were fresh. The Goi Cuon shrimp spring roll was very tasty too. We enjoyed our meal from this place and would try it again.

Hands down, this place has the very best Vietnamese Pho in Pittsburgh! And the rest of the menu is outstanding, too.

The pan fried pork buns were good, but could definitely be crispier on the bottom, and I wish there was soup inside! I liked the sautéed green beans because they seemed very fresh and weren't overly fried/salted. The shanghai stir-fried udon was actually udon. I thought it was just translated wrong and that it would be shanghai cu chaomian, but it wasn't. It was still super tasty though! I just wish the noodles were a little firmer. The cold soy milk was very yummy too. Not sure if they add any sugar but it was pretty sweet! Service was super quick! And there was no wait on a Thursday lunch :)

We shared an order of the Lucky Six Soup Dumplings, Pan Fried Pork Buns, and Green Beans. All of it was so tasty and filling. If I could only order one thing next time it would be the Pan Fried Pork Buns. We tried our hand at making our own dipping sauce with the ginger strings, soy sauce and vinegar. That was fun to try. Dining area has tables and chairs, bench seats, and a bar area. Definitely coming back here to try more food. Attached: 5 photos

They have a series of vegetarian appetizers, but that's not their focus. In terms of the overall experience, the staff is very friendly and on top of things. We ordered takeout, but the online ordering site didn't give us a confirmation of our order. A quick call to the restaurant confirmed that everything was received and already in process. In terms of the food, the wood ear mushrooms and tofu skins was a clear winner. The broccoli was fine, but I would have preferred Chinese broccoli or watercress if they were available. The five spiced eggplant was fine: steamed to a custard-like level of softness, then paired with a salty sauce and served cold. The dan dan noodles were probably best suited for a dine-in experience and didn't really travel well. My partner tells me that the stuffed pork buns were good, but the solid piece of pork in the center was less optimal than something shredded or thinned out with some vegetable matter. All told, this was a good experience. The vegetarian appetizers were good but not exceptional. The various noodle and bun dishes were very nicely crafted. The hand made noodles were a particularly nice touch, with a lot more flavor and texture than I would have ever expected. If I have any requests, it would be for more vegetable centric noodle options.

I wouldn't really call this a supper club to be honest but the place definitely carries a house music bar vibe and the back bar area and seating is very dimly lit, perfect for cozying up and enjoying a drink late night. The ladies' room was so dark, I mistook it for a storage area because I could only make out a white ladder in the corner that was being used as cute shelving. The place is seat yourself. Our waiter was not super friendly and didn't offer to give us napkins or anything when our wobbly table caused our drinks to splash all over the place. The cook served our chicken with a big smile and happy interaction and we really loved his personality. The bartender also stopped by to bus our table and he was very pleasant as well. We enjoyed the perfectly fried small plate cauliflower with the plum sauce and the fried cheese/garlic wonton bites with the sriracha mayo spicy dipping sauce. The fried chicken breast on the large plate was slightly overcooked with a maple gochuchang sauce that was very bland. We were so thankful that the large plate fried chicken came with a side salad to offer some respite from the heaviness of the fried dishes. It would have been great to have some side acidic or fresh vegetable options like Kimchi or something. Maybe we tried the wrong dishes and there are other not fried things that are delicious? The dirty martini cocktail was just so-so, not really much flavor at all, but the mojito was very good and refreshing. It's probably a good late-night place for a bite and drink.
