The best new hidden gem in Pittsburgh, hands down. This place is, quite literally, underground, and you would never know they serve up the best Chinese noodle soups! As a frequenter of the Asian restaurants on Forbes, I've been meaning to check out Tasty Noodle (formerly Jian's Kitchen) and right next to Panda supermarket. Walk downstairs and all the way at the end of the hallway (it's pretty easy to spot once you're down there) is Tasty Noodle. The place isn't large but has a couple of large and small tables, and my party of 3 was seated right away. I had been craving Chinese rice noodle soups ever since Dagu Noodles closed and this place HIT THE SPOT!! They have handmade pulled noodles used in either their chili oil noodles or noodle soups. Tons of options and protein choices. I opted for the sliced beef rice noodle soup, my friends opted for the lamb option and the braised beef noodle soup. All 3 of us were so full and happy with our meals! Service was attentive and kind. The owner was pointing out other best sellers he recommends at the end. I think I'd try the 3 treasures chili oil noodles next. They do accept both card and cash!

Great time at Fet-Fisk. Was excited to give this place a try since I had been hearing so much about…read moreit. We had reservations for 5pm on Friday, but decided to sit in the bar area to experience the cool red lighting. We ordered a few different items: Oysters: these were great, easily some of the best oysters I've ever had in Pittsburgh. Not a single piece of shell found in any oyster. Super fresh. Great stuff. Scallop Crudo: probably my least favorite dish of the night, ate the whole thing but wouldn't be something I'd get again. Scallops were almost slightly (metallic?) in flavor. Steak tar tar: delish. Very fresh, surprisingly light in flavor. Paired great with the chips. Grilled cabbage Caesar: honestly my favorite dish of the evening. Flavors were perfect, texture was soft but crunchy. I was tempted to order more but had to restrain myself. Half roasted chicken with rhubarb: totally lived up to the hype. Chicken was perfectly cooked, loads of flavor. The creamy farmers cheese on the bottom paired great with the sweet/tartness of the rhubarb. Easily the best chicken dish I've ever had. Rye shortbread: this was our dessert. Greatly enjoyed this. Flavors mingled perfectly. Overall, great experience. Service is top notch. Drinks were good and we were even given free champagne since we were celebrating. Can't wait to come back again. (Apologies for the bad pictures, the red lighting in not camera friendly)

Some places just know how to make a random night feel important…read more I've been to @fishnorfowl_pgh a few times now and every single visit I leave just as impressed as the last. Chef Drew's consistency deserves its flowers because it's rare to find a place that delivers that level of care every time you walk through the doors. And no-I wasn't invited. I just genuinely believe in spending my own money at places I enjoy because that's what keeps this industry going around. The spots that make people feel something deserve people showing back up for them. The chicken parm will neverrrrr not get ordered at this point and I truly don't think I've ever left without a full belly and leftovers I was excited about later. Huge thank you as well for the duck dish and champagne that somehow made an already good night feel even better. Also starting a little series on the people I share meals with because food's always been tied to connection for me. This dinner was with Ashley ( @burghgourmetgirl ) -someone I met when I first started putting everything I had into content creation. She's quiet but confident in a way that makes people naturally gravitate toward her. And once you really get to know her, you won't stop laughing. She works hard, plays even harder, has seen more of the world than most people ever will, and somehow still stays one of the most genuine people I know. Pittsburgh's lucky to have her, but I have a feeling she leaves a little piece of herself everywhere she goes.

Our waitress was very kind and offered recommendations throughout the experience. We started with the focaccia bread and tomato butter which was a must!! We had plenty leftover and I am still snacking on it at home. For our entrees I got the weekend special, lump crab risotto, and it was perfectly creamy yet refreshing just wish there was a little more crab in it. We also got the chicken parm and rigatoni which was delicious. The chicken parm is massive and definitely a show stopper. Kicking myself for not ordering a pasta, since it's all homemade:), but I guess I'll have to make another reservation!! Can't wait to visit when the outdoor patio is open.

The intimate dining area is beautifully decorated! We never felt rushed throughout our entire experience and were waited on by such attentive staff members. On the menu for us was a starter of tuna tarter accompanied with a gluten free bread option (WINNING!!!) My hubs received a rosemary focaccia that was a great dipping course. Next, I opted for the skate which was perfectly balanced and cooked to perfection. The steak dish was the other plate at the table and was masterfully done. For dessert, I was so excited to try the gluten free passion fruit cheesecake....and to my surprise I also received a birthday celebration with a thoughtful card. Reservations are sometimes hard to come by here, but if you get the chance.....make them and then make them again for your return visit.

The lobster rolls are excellent and better than you are likely to find in a place that claims them as a house-specialty. The lobster filling is perfect and the portion in the perfectly toasted roll is generous. Shrimp Ceviche is lovely: bright and springy. Plantain Soup is delightful: light and dotted with just the right amount of crab. Scallops dish has a sophisticated flavor profile on the spices and seasoning. The lobster and kumquat broth gives this dish perfect balance. Skate: perfectly cooked. The salsify puree was a treat.
