I got a nail in my tire and was trying to find a place that could patch it. I went to another place down on Chapman, but they said it would be a 45 minute wait. I meant to drive to the place next door to Main Auto Care, but made a wrong turn. It was a happy accident I suppose. The service adviser was very polite and approachable. He said it would cost $15 and it would only take a few minutes. He was right about the time, it only took about 10 minutes to plug the tire. I knew I was overdue for an oil change and asked him how much time it would take for an oil change. He said not long, so I did that as well. I think I spent only 25 minutes there and for a tire plug and an oil change. This place is so much better than those chain oil change places or dealer ships. It is more affordable, the people are friendlier, and it is faster. I will be taking my Honda Element to them from now on. read more

Came in for an ac service. They said it's $25 just to check it. Then 35$ per pound of freeon. Which I thought was not that bad. Turns out I only needed 2 pounds. Charged me around $70 total. My question was answered and Troy was telling me to hurry and bring my car in because they weren't busy and they closed at 3, it was almost 1. We got there and dropped my car off to get all of the brake pads and an oil change done. Took a walk up the street for lunch and came back an hour later. They were almost finished, probably another 30 minutes. They charged exactly what they said and didn't try to convince me to get other work done as well. Really nice, honest, guys. Check your oil filter! It may not have been changed! I have been going to Main Auto care for over two decades, and the original owner was low-key and honest. When he sold the place and retired a couple of years ago, the change seemed OK because the young guys in the shop were friendly enough and quick about the work. But my husband was becoming suspicious about their service, because the oil in my car was getting dirtier and dirtier. Last Friday (10/6/12), he put an inconspicuous mark on my old oil filter and I took my car in for an oil change. When I got home, he discovered that they had left the filthy old filter in there. No wonder they were so quick and cheap! It looks like I've been driving around with same old filter since August 2010. No reputable place does an oil change without changing the filter. If I could give a zero I would ! This place is a joke. I pulled in because I needed an oil change, the 4 men on the dock were oogling me and basically thought they saw a sucker coming. The boy who was manning the cashier desk came in not even after having my car 10 mintutes to tell me that my 2010 car with 30k miles needed a transmission flush, an air filter and a major inspection. REALLY ? I know im a pretty girl but really ? I said oh no, I just want an oil change. I paid my $22 and as soon as I drive off the lot, guess what light came on - thats right the CHECK ENGINE light !! And to top it off, my car was making a whirring sound. Unbelievable! I took the car back and the same little boy at the front told me that it would be $45 to hook it up to a machine to tell me what was wrong with it. My brother usually does my oil changes but since he was out of town, I waited for him to come back and check for what was making that noise and more importantly to turn off that stupid check engine light. He opened the hood and right away saw that a tubing was not in the right place ! For what they were going to charge me $45 my brother just put back on ! NEVER AGAIN - stay away !! read more

I really feel comfortable bringing my vehicles to this place for regular maintenance items. Troy is a straight shooter and really tries to take care of all his customers. I recently overheard someone came in complaining of the most ridiculous oil service issue and there is no way it could have possibly happened. Yet to my surprise Troy listened and explained very well that the story was not logical. Then amazingly he credited the person for the service. This is shocking because the story sounded bogus. I was impressed. Also I challenged Troy on the markup of parts and he had a good answer on that, pointing to the warranty that came with the part. I don't like the markup on parts, but if it is reasonable and comes with a warranty backing, then its fair (argh). I would definitely recommend this pace to anyone trying to get good work done, at a reasonable and fair price. I hope all my experiences here will continue to go this way. read more

These guys are awesome. Saved my butt the other day! I was on the freeway when out of nowhere, an excruciatingly loud sound started coming from my front left wheel. My dog Oatmeal and I were so bummed and thought we'd never make it to the dog park. We used yelp, searched for the closest mechanic and found main auto care. They could have swindled me and told me the problem was as bad as it sounded but they didn't! Instead, they brought the pebble to me that somehow became lodged between my brake bad and disc. My car is a 2011 Mercedes E350 that needed the auxiliary battery to be replaced and serviced. The car is no longer under warranty so it was very important to me to find an auto shop that was knowledgeable and fair in price. After reading a few of the yelp reviews I decided to bring my car here. It was more important to give my business to a knowledgeable auto shop vs price. If that weren't true they would have gone belly up long ago.(est.1977) Their shop is also very clean and is indicitive of quality service and professional upkeep. They do all repairs on foreign and domestic vehicles too. Their prices are very very fair and I would highly Rx them to everyone. I sure know that my whole family will be going here from now on! I first saw a previous Yelp about them and even printed out a discount coupon on their website before coming here for an oil change. When I got here I quickly discovered that everything said about them was all true! No high pressure sales pitches for overpriced air cabin filters, fuel filters, and windshield wipers where you'll get rimmed! (you know what I'm talking about...we have all been there) And best of all no long lines! My oil and filter change only took ten to 15 minutes and there was another customer right before me!
