Im not sure if this place had a change in management or ownership but now the service is terrible. First time I went in, they told me they couldnt do anything because the lights were not on when I brought the car in. Okay. Understandable. I drive the car over at almost 1pm because the lights were on this time and even more lights came on. I was told the mechanics were at lunch. They could not tell me how long they would be back and then told me that I probably need to come back tomorrow because they are too busy anyways. Well I will never return at this point. LOL what a great response. If you read my review you would have seen they didnt give me a timeframe. It was almost one and the person at the front would not answer when they would be back at all. Dont try to gaslight me. In addition, you didnt check anything. I doubt they even tried. Then they couldnt find my keys. Just be honest. read more

Daniel is one of those hard to find honest mechanics. Went in for a Pre-purchase inspection for a car I was looking to purchase and man did Daniel look out for me. Pointed out cleared codes and leaks/repairs needed to be done that the seller was hoping buyers wouldn't find. Gave me great documentation and video evidence from his findings. Highly recommend going here for PPI as he's very thorough and a true car enthusiast! read more

This is one of those gem in the rough repair shops. I take my Lexus GX470 to him for all my big repairs (timing belt, alternator, struts, etc). My car is at 228,000 miles and still going strong. Although the shop seems a bit messy like a repair shop out of the movies, they do quality work at very affordable prices compared to dealers. read more

There have been many changes at this shop. This shop was my go to. Since the change, I don't feel the level of customer service I once did. Or the quality of work is there. I had a routine brake change done and within a week I took back to tashmo for "squealing and grinding noise". Daniel told us give it time to wear, a week later we went back and was told it was "a bad batch" as they had other customers complain...so they replaced for free which I was grateful for. But the noise didn't stop. It got worse. I took it back and Daniel said it was the "protective plate" grinding by the brake so he pushed it with a screw drive and said that should help. It didn't, so we took it back again. This time we were told "they're new brakes, give it a few weeks to wear". Not once did he take the car back to look at the brakes. We felt "shood away". We finally took it to the dealer. Dealer revealed brakes were put on upside down. How does that happen? I'm happy to report, noise is gone and braking is smooth. I didn't bother going back to Tashmo as I no longer felt confident in their work. After going back 4 times for the same issue and noise not going away it made me wonder if they really changed the brakes after the "bad batch, we'll change them"? I brought my car in for a check engine light, and this shop misdiagnosed it multiple times. First, they said the issue was the wires and distributor. When that didn't solve the problem, they told me it was the ECU. Eventually, they suggested an engine swap an extreme recommendation that made me doubt their diagnostic process entirely. I decided to take the car home, and when I received it, it was returned in worse condition. The interior carpet was lifted where they had pulled out the ECU, and they didn't bother putting things back together properly. It was messy and careless. I then brought the car to a different shop, and within 30 seconds, they correctly diagnosed the problem: a bent exhaust valve. No guesswork, no parts cannon, just a quick, accurate diagnosis. To make matters worse, I noticed my brand new spark plugs had been swapped out for old, heavily worn ones. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and shows a lack of attention to detail and respect for the customer's vehicle. I do not recommend this shop due to their poor diagnostic approach, hasty recommendation for a full engine swap, and the sloppy condition in which they returned my car. EDIT: this person claims I sent a message on July 1, 2025 asking for a diagnosis but the message on fb he claims I sent was in 2013. I had him do work in 2015, so for him to say I did not bring in the car for diagnosis is simply not true. read more

The owner, Daniel revived my NC miata with a full engine rebuild. The car was basically brought back to life and is working better than ever. There's not that many trustworthy engine rebuilders in orange that give a fair price, but he's one of the few that works on all types. Went in for a basic service and it turned into a total waste of time. I was offered a free inspection and figured sure, why not. Next thing I know, I'm sitting there way longer than expected while they worked on something I never agreed to. No heads-up, no confirmation. Just went ahead like I had approved it. When I pointed it out, the front desk got defensive and borderline confrontational. Instead of apologizing or owning the mistake, they basically implied I was lying. Totally unprofessional in my opinion. Eventually I got what I originally came in for, but not without wasting a chunk of my day and dealing with unnecessary attitude. What really seals it is checking out the other reviews every time someone leaves anything less than 5 stars, someone replies with sarcasm or gets straight-up hostile. It's a pattern. In my personal opinion, this place is run by people who take criticism personally and handles it poorly. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere that respects your time and doesn't try to upsell you on stuff you never asked for. read more

RUN BY CROOKS! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT bring your vehicle here!! We brought our truck here for transmission issues (truck would only drive in reverse). Was told a refurbished transmission was cheaper than a rebuild. Spent $3,000 on a refurbished transmission. 91 DAYS LATER the transmission went out, doing the EXACT SAME THING (only driving in reverse). Daniel only offered a 90 day warranty and refused to take any accountability. Told us we now need to rebuild the transmission he claims he just installed for ANOTHER $3,500, wouldn't even consider a price break. We asked for the paperwork from the vendor that he purchased the refurbished transmission from and he still hasn't provided it. I don't think he ever replaced it, just tweaked it so it ran ok for a few months. We fell for a scam and ended up taking it somewhere else. This will happen to you if you bring it here, look at the other reviews. They will be out of business soon, so run the other way. UPDATE: see Daniel's response. No accountability whatsoever. He's a CROOK!! He never fixed the issue, and wants to charge me another $3,000. This place is a complete scam, save yourself and go somewhere else. read more

I have taken my cars to Tashmo for when I wanted good maintenance service done at a fair price. I like that they have a labor-only option, where you can bring your own consumables or parts. This is a sure sign that the pricing is fair because their business model is dependent on car servicing compentently more than markup on car parts or fluids. On this last visit, I had them perform an oil change. Daniel was nice enough to take my car with 15 minutes before closing. Oil used for this oil change service was Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage 5W-30 along with Mobil 1 Oil filter and new oil drain plug gasket. They used 4 of the 5 quarts and returned the remaining unused oil to me. Oil is rated for 20,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. The new next service sticker added 5,000 miles my current mileage for their recommended next visit. This is a typical mileage suggestion for car service shops. When the service was done, Daniel was preoccupied on the phone with a customer escalation but I paid him in cash and was on my way. Thanks Tashmo Team! read more

After researching for a good mechanic for quite some time, I decided to move forward with Tashmo. I took my Honda here for its regular maintenance and was able to get everything completed quickly on a Saturday morning. I was able to get my coolant checked, replaced my timing belt, change transmission oil, and get spark plugs changed. All done with a reasonable price. My 2014 Mazda CX5 turned 100K miles before I stopped going to the dealer for service and started using Tashmo. I love my CX5 and want to keep it as long as possible. They always service my vehicle quickly without any glitches, prices have been reasonable (the cash discount is nice) and best of all my vehicle still has plenty of compression and still drives great. Like most people, I absolutely despise car maintenance! It's stressful, confusing, and often very expensive. I'm so lucky I found Tashmo when I did! So far, I've gotten a tune up (new spark plugs), an oil change, new wheel brushing, new clockspring, new wheel hubs, wheel bearings, and speed monitors. I know, that's a lot! Even though it was overwhelming to have to get a fair amount of maintenance done to my car, I really trusted the Tashmo team knew what they were doing and that everything was priced fairly. It's walk in only so I highly suggesting dropping your car off first thing in the morning. They're located in a small business center, which has other car related businesses around so it's easy to find. They also offer a cash discount, which has saved me at least $200 at this point! They're super fast, very communicative, and will provide detailed breakdowns of the services needed. I'm no longer scared of car maintenance and always recommend my friends and family to come here. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. This place is unorganized and customer service is not the greatest. I always felt rushed when talking to the front desk. They diagnosed that my car needs an engine replacement due to a misfire (which is a very costly repair) or just get rid of the car all together. I got my car inspected at other auto shops, found my engine is not misfiring and it doesn't need a replacement. It's only experiencing minor issues, which can easily fixed. In addition, they forgot to put my engine cover back and I had to stop by to pick it up. Complete inconvenience, waste of time, and money. If you do go here, just keep in mind to always get a second opinion somewhere else!! read more

Update on our horrible experience with this auto repair center & the owner Daniel: After Tashmo halted all work on my husbands car (they said it was an electrical problem) and making us pay $3,000 cash to get our car back, having it break down on the way home, ...we found out from 2 other places, that it was actually an internal engine problem. Tashmo kept our car for weeks and couldn't figure that out....they just kept trying to work on it, charging more & more. The reason they stopped work, is because I had called the owner to talk & was frustrated (never raising my voice) over the time it was taking with no end in sight. The crazy thing is, i only was allowed to talk to the 'front desk' kid. I told him I was upset & if the work wasn't done at some point, I would maybe have to file a complaint. Now, a good business owner with great customer service skills would have come to the phone and helped me understand the issues. Instead, he did not like my 'vibe' (again, never spoke to him on the phone) and stopped all work immediately. Note: I have NEVER, in my life filed a complaint with any business. I had simply wanted to know when we were getting our car back & why it was taking so long. Now we are in the hole trying to get the car 'engine' fixed - still. I consider myself a very calm - nice person. For Yashmo to say (as a response to my earlier review) they didn't like my vibe? They didn't like me? I've never experienced that in my life! I came out to Santa Ana to look at a used Miata, and had booked an appointment for a pre-purchase inspection at the local Mazda Dealership. When I got there, they suddenly told me they don't do inspections, despite booking me over the phone for one. Luckily, I found Tashmo after calling around a bit, who despite being quite busy, took a look at the car as soon as I brought it in and gave it a quick but thorough inspection for way less than the dealership quoted.
