I don't think you can get much better than this place, I'm a delivery driver so I need work done on my car pretty regularly due to the wear and tear of driving miles and miles daily. I've come to them each and every time and they continue to impress. This place feels like a little husband and wife shop that just grew a bit bigger. You get the personal experience of dealing with real honest people that aren't going to try to sell you ANYTHING you don't need. There's no song and dance, a simple "you need *this*, this is what it costs and it'll be done by *this* time". (usually within a few hours). I once came in because my car was running a little warmer than it seems to run, and had them take a look at it to see what it was gonna cost me and when I got a call back for the price here's what they told me: NOTHING. My car apparently was just getting a little warmer because of the weather outside but they told me it was nothing to be concerned about based on what I told them, he simply fixed a brake light that I didn't realize was out and charged me a quick $5 for the light, and nothing for looking into the heating problem. There was another instance where I was having a pretty big issue with my brakes, and I called them up. They were booked out for about two weeks solid, but since it was a safety concern they managed to work double time and squeeze me in the very next day which saved me WEEKS of not being able to work, I would've been in a real jam without them, and I'm just so thankful that I've found such a standup place to take my car to, I've been coming back and I will CONTINUE to come back so long as my car needs to be patched up. read more

I new to the area had no clue where to go to find a mechanic. So i thought i would yelp for mechanic in Manteca,CA. the 1st mechanic shop to pop up was Main Auto repair just down the road from where i live. so i pull in there with my alternator that wasn't charging my battery 30mins before he was to close on a Saturday. As i walk in there to my surprise is my best friend asking me what i was doing there? he told me well your in great hands he has been coming here for years & this guy is not good he is great!!! So the owner tells me I am extremely busy right now but walk with me explain to me your car problem & I'm sure i can help. so i explain to him my issue with this ford taurus & he gives me direction on what to inspect for rather then I'm so sorry if you bring your car back on Monday i will be glad to help you, but you should have come in earlier so i can help you. So i go to my car do as he says & sure enough the various test he had me do indicated that it was a fuse!! So thank God & the owner for his patience , knowledge for his skill & honesty i no longer was worried about why my battery was not being charged? I asked him how much do i owe? he said nothing, you owe me nothing. i simply gave you direction & you did the rest. After this experience with Main Auto repair I NO LONGER WILL EVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE FOR ANY CAR PROBLEMS. your in great care when you stop at MAIN AUTO REPAIR. My elderly Mom's 96 Nissan was having charging issues and was leaving her stranded. We didn't have a mechanic and my mom is on a fixed income. It is hard to know who to trust. We were referred to Brent at Main Auto Repair by a neighbor. I have to say......BRENT IS AWESOME! I have never been so happy with car service in my life. I spoke with Brent on the phone. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and his customer service was excellent. My elderly mom has health issues and cannot be without her car in case of emergency. Brent was able to squeeze her in for service even though he was completely booked that week. WOW.....when does that ever happen! Brent fixed the charging issue and then personally picked my Mom up at her home to bring her to her fixed car. Talk about customer service! My truck broke down Thursday night, I grew up in Oakdale and had no idea what auto repair place to put my trust in, I asked a trusted friend who I should go to and she said that she only trusts her truck with Main Auto Repair and well as luck had it I live right next door to it, which was good because my truck could not make it to any other place, the mechanics came over took a look at my truck in my drive way and looked up the parts and got me a quote! They came over and drove it to the shop, I also needed some parts for my horse trailer and Brett came over and inspected what I needed and talked about all the options with me in my own driveway. Once my truck was completed (same day) he gave me the bill for the truck and asked if I wished to do the trailer that day or wait on it, I had to wait on it but I will be taking all my auto business there! Had to have my VW Cabrio towed to their shop on a Saturday since my car just died on me all of a sudden and started smoking, I didn't want to chance driving it. This was the first place I called because of the high Yelp! ratings. I was hoping they worked on VWs and was so happy when they did! The owner told me to have it towed right over. I did not get it back until Tuesday, but I did tell them to take their time since I didn't need my car for a few days anyway. Well, my repair only cost me $240! I was so happy because when I take it to Central Valley Volkswagen, I never get out of there for under $500. No more dealership for me, I have found my new local mechanic! Oh, and the owner even picked me up at home to bring me to the shop to pick up my car since I did not have a ride! The owners are VERY nice and treat you like you are old friends when you come in. read more

We had the unfortunate experience of losing our transmission while driving down hwy 99 and became embroiled in what is clearly an opportunistic towing and storage scheme (if your car is with Yollies Towing I suggest having it brought elsewhere immediately). Nonetheless, Brent, the owner at Main Auto Repair was fantastic. Having never met me, he cut a check to pay the towing company's ransom to release my vehicle and allowed me to keep it at his garage until we could figure out what we were going to do with it. He did a quick assessment, confirmed it was destroyed, and hasn't yet charged me a dime! This is an honest and very decent business man. I'll complete my review once we've determined where the car will go, but thus far I could not ask for a more helpful, honest, knowledgeable mechanic. read more

I called Main Auto Repair and left a message on the answering service. I wasn't aware at the time that I was calling on a day that the shop was closed. To my surprise, I received a phone call from Brett, the owner. He actually called me on his day off. WHAT? Who does that? I thought he called to tell me that they were closed but his response was,"What can I do to help." I told him about the problems I was having with my car. He then proceeded to tell me what he thought the problem was and why he thought that. He then started to instruct me on things I can do myself to try and fix the problem. He stayed on the phone and put me at ease because we all know how stressful car problems can be. All this and he hasn't even received a penny from me. Customer Service at their finest. read more

They are truly there to help you. I had just bought a car and was having some concerns about the engine and stopped in to have him do a compression test and really check the car over. I told the mechanic what was going on with the car and he told me that it could just be bad gas because the car had sat for two plus years and didn't want to take my money when it could just be that. Run it out of gas and then put some good gas in it and if the problem continues then to bring it to him. Honesty is really the best policy and I don't think you could beat that for honesty. Turning down my money instead of just doing what I asked and taking it. I will never take my cars anywhere else. read more

Went to a dodge dealer paid 1200 dollars to fix my truck the dealer. They pulled my truck around and my truck died on them.really They offered me a free diagnosis. I paid 1200 for my truck be fixed and then it died on them while they were pulling it around to me. Fed up, I took it to main auto and after 5 min Brent was able to show me it was my computer that was bad. 300 dollars later and the truck ran like a champ. They do not believe at throwing parts at a problem. They find it and fix it right the first time. It's a fair and honest family run shop. I called this repair place to schedule an appointment to bring my Yukon in for a check-up. I was put on hold, no biggie, I understand there may have been a customer in person they were dealing with. But I was on hold for 20 minutes, then I got hung up on. Called back and they were at lunch I assumed because it rang forever and eventually went to voice mail. Left a message. Never received a phone call back. I waited 3 days for a response but ended up taking my Yukon as a walk-in and wait to another repair place because I couldn't wait anymore. I was passing through Manteca when my engine started running rough and the check engine light came on. I did a quick internet search for a local mechanic. Based on his stellar Yelp reviews, I called Brett at Main Auto Repair. Not only was he able to squeeze me into his busy schedule, he also gave me a ride to and from my hotel (I had to stay overnight). He said he only made some adjustments, but whatever he did worked! This place is the only place I take my vehicles to get serviced. They are honest, fast, and have great prices. The dealer told me that i had to get my brakes replaced on my car. I took it to Main Auto and he said the brakes were good and still had plenty of pad left. Then the price he quoted me was only a fraction of what the dealer was gonna charge me. I was driving home from work when my Accord suddenly lost power. I was able to drive it drive it to Main Auto and have them take a look. After a couple of attempts to find the problem, it came down to a faulty oil pressure sensor. Throughout the process everyone was courteous and helpful, and they got my Honda back to me very quickly.
