Main Chick has been one of my favorite places to come to for the last few months ever since I found it. I could honestly never get tired of this place! I usually get one of their combos (medium spicy) which can honestly feed me for 2 meals because their portions are so big. I order ahead of time either by phone or through their Yelp page / grub hub and they're usually ready on time if not early. Their chicken is tender and their sauce is amazing! This spot is amazing! I'm always excited to try new hot chicken places in the area and this place didn't disappoint. I ordered the spicy chicken tenders combo and the chicken was very crispy and full of so much flavor. The only thing that I would recommend for them is to maybe kick the "Spicy" level up a bit just because for a Spicy chicken, it was pretty Medium leveled spice to me. My boyfriend that doesn't do well with spice tried it as well and didn't think it was spicy either. HOWEVER, still giving a 5 star review because the chicken was just cooked so well. One of the best chicken sandwiches I've had! I got the spicy level chicken sandwich which was a lil bit of the spicy side, it definitely made me shed a tear or two but so worth it! My first time trying this place, and I'm really excited to get some new places in north Long Beach. I got a #1 combo for $13 which comes with a chicken sandwich, chicken tender, and fries, plus a side of "MC sauce" (basically thousand island sauce). Combos don't come with a drink so I added a fountain drink for $2.50 and added a side of ranch which also came with a charge ($0.60). There are 5 levels of spiciness that you get to choose from for your chicken, I chose the 4th level "spicy" and it did not disappoint! Spicy enough to make my nose run but not to overshadow the flavor. The chicken tasted AMAZING. It was moist and flavorful, and the portions were large. The only part I was disappointed in were the French fries. They were very bland and mushy. I would not get them again. But I will definitely be back for the amazing chicken! read more

I've seen Uptown Commons being built for some time now so I was excited to see what restaurants would open up there! I was excited to try Main Chick and it beat my expectations. I ordered through GrubHub for pick-up and got a Mild Chicken Sandwich with fries. Overall, it was pretty good and the bun added some sweetness to it. And when I come to check a 3rd time I overheard the chiefs say "Were going to start it right now". Marisol is AWESOME!! This was the first time trying Main Chick Hot Chicken. I let Marisol know that I had never been there before. She proceeded to ask what type of chicken I liked - tenders or pieces. She directed me to the appropriate meals based on my preferences. She explained the spicy/hotness level and what the MC sauce was. I found her to be very knowledgeable, professional and with a great personality!! The chicken - she was spot on regarding the level of spicy. It was DELICIOUS!! Giant chicken tenders. Perfect juiciness, crispness and spiciness. The fries were equally good!! Fries are too heavenly seasoned, but you can always ask for light seasoning. Over all the food is great! Chicken is flavorful and their macaroni and cheese is delicious. Went to pick up our online order a few minutes ago and when my husband said he was there for a pickup, the guy rolled his eyes and gave him attitude. If you hate your job so much then quit? It's our first time trying this place so my husband asked if he could try the mild sauce to gauge the spiciness and the same guy gave the rudest, shortest, NO. I've been following Main Chick since they were serving at night markets so I'm definitely a loyal fan despite not being a huge fan of chicken as a protein. Both their white and dark meat are super tender and juicy, which so many other restaurants have trouble doing. I HATE to do this. But I drove famished across town drooling at the prospect of hot chicken. When I ordered, I was told they were "out" off the supreme (hottest) level spice. Excuse me? I don't care how hot the spicy (level 2) is, my pain receptors are going to shut down and i won't even notice it. You can't do that. I may change my rating if I decide to go back. I've been here twice and had 2 very different experiences. 1st visit, a Monday, 11am-ish, they were just opening for the day. I told the cashier this was my 1st time here. She was very pleasant and helpful. I waited about 5-7 minutes and my order was ready. It was great. Nice big juicy tender, the tender in the slider was twice the size of the bun, fresh fries and creamy mac-n-cheese. 2nd visit, Friday, around 8:30pm. Cashier was nice, could have been the same one, but I'm nit too sure. Placed my order, paid stepped to the side, 60 seconds later my order is ready. The bag felt light, so I checked before leaving. They forgot the mac-n-cheese. Got that cleared up with no issue. I get home and get ready to chow down only to find the 2 smallest, most expensive chicken tenders ever. I was so disappointed. I was afraid to eat the mac-n-cheese in fear of more disappointment. So I gave it to my brother. He'll eat anything. So I'm torn. Do I give them another try? Tried the #1 meal with a sandwich, 1 fillet, fries and a pickle chip. The service here is fantastic. Friendly staff and fast considering they make it fresh. They were turning out orders about every 30 to 60 seconds. The common area for the restaurants has a lot of picnic style seating, and everyone was observing Covid rules while I was there. The chicken portions are a good size, fresh and juicy. The (potato?) buns are soft and the pickles are home made. I would have liked a little more dill/sour flavor to the pickle to counter the chicken, but they were good regardless. The fries appeared to be frozen with some of the spice they put on the chicken sprinkled on, but there was not enough for me to taste. They were also a little limp. They serve chicken with 5 levels of heat. I got the mid level to see exactly where they stood with hotness. The mid level had some heat that stuck for a short while, but was nothing that blew my head off. The only problem I had was that they use a rub instead of a hot oil. There was enough rub on the filet that it left a gritty chalky texture in my mouth. Not sure if this is something they are still fine tuning or that is the way it's supposed to be. Overall, it's a good effort. I will have to wait a couple of months to let them get in the groove and settle in before I go back. read more

I'm a die-hard fan of Dave's Hot Chicken (the original, not the terrible franchised stores they've opened). So I really wanted to try Main Chick. The concept, price, and look of it were great! But the tenders just were not up to par. I got the 3 piece and the tenders were so big and thick that the inside tasted boiled. As if the flavors hadn't seeped through. I also got multiple bites with inedible pieces of chicken (kind of like biting into fatty, chewy areas). My husband got the dark meat sandwich and it was too much batter/coating. He wasn't satisfied. I placed my order 24 hours a head of time in person as their website was not working properly to place such a simple order. I clearly requested and repeated to the supervisor that I needed this order ready no later than 11:30am and he assured me that it would be ready as I was taking this large order to 45 employees working a project for me. With a great deal of disappointment and frustration this order was not ready. I had to wait until 12:15 until the order was completed. When I asked why was the commitment not met, neither the cashier or anyone else could explain to me a reasonable cause. As a matter a fact the supervisor did not have the decency to come and speak with me when requested. Needless to say the food upon delivery to my project staff, the food was cold, the amount of French fries per box were less than a kids happy meal and the sauces on the side were not provided as specifically requested.
