I recently went to Main Event when my family was in town. We went on week night and it was DEAD - which was great. But it also meant that some of the activities were shut down. We weren't able to do the ropes course because it's only open specific nights. That was kind of a bummer. We loved the laser tag! We also had food there and it was pretty solid. The fries were great and only Diet Coke lovers will get this - but it was perfectly sweet and super crispy. I think going on a week night is the move because I could see this place being super overwhelming when it's busy. read more

I got there and used the bathroom, the first stall had poop all over the toilet (unfortunately people are gross so I didnt blame the place). I reported it. I went to the bar, had two drinks, ordered food, got the food, ate. Went to use the restroom again before playing games and there was STILL POOP ALL OVER THE TOILET AN HR AFTER REPORTING. Games dont work. Sanitary pad on floor. Empty drinks everywhere and trash. Bunch of kids working that obviously dont care. If I could give 0 stars, I would. They tried to say the rope course was "full" until 6pm (it was 4), yet it remained empty. Then when I asked about that, they magically found an employee to staff it. Then they said one of my kids was too short, demanded they actually measure him (crazy, he was plenty tall enough). To top it off, we were 50/50 on the arcade games actually working and not just taking our money. This place is ran by lazy idiots who actively find ways to not do their jobs while simultaneously taking as much of your money as possible. This space can take a toll on your wallet - but there are ways to help. I often see coupons for their game cards (buy $20, get $20) and you can take advantage of their deals for bowling and games. I've also found it helps to set the timer when hanging out, making it part of the day instead of the ... main event. Many games earn tickets and redeeming them has typically been fast and easy. My teen son enjoys grabbing candy. If you're not interested to eat off the restaurant menu, we appreciate the pizza. It's not life changing but we enjoyed it as a quick snack. Huge parking lot so never an issue to find a spot. Service at the counter to purchase game cards and bowling times runs well, even when the line gets long. read more

I'm now a fangirl of Main Event, going from my original review of 3 stars to 4 and now 5 stars. Lemme explain ... We hosted my son's 6th birthday with Main Event over the weekend, and after hosting all of his other parties at our house, this birthday was a breeze! I was able to easily book online and also reach someone at Main Event to ask a few questions of. For the birthday party option, you pay by the kid, not the adult, which definitely helped with costs. For roughly $350, we got an hour of arcade time with $20 arcade cards for each kid, two tables near the bowling lanes that we could decorate, several pizzas, sodas for everyone, a plate of watermelon slices and some other extras. We were able to bring in our own cake and goodie bags, and we could adjust the number of guests up to three days beforehand. We were given a party coordinator when we arrived, Cadence. She was great, getting us all that we need. The party time flew by. My son and his friends had a blast. And best of all, we weren't left with a house that looked like a tornado went through it. We would definitely book this again! read more

Part of me really wants to like this place, and another part wants to absolutely hate it. My kids wanted to go bowling and we decided to go here. The part I like: They have a pretty legit section of video games. Lots of ones I've never seen. Cool place to cash in your "tickets". The credits that you have to use are extremely frustrating though they aren't in five increments. What I mean is, when we left I had like 4.6 credits to play which no machine in there takes. What the hell is that The part I hate: bowling. We waited two hours for a lane! They have some goofy rule that when the weights this long you have to pre-pay. No idea why I don't know why it would be hard for them to take your name off the list if you went back and changed your mind. It's a money grab and it's annoying. What's your name is finally up you do get to bowl for a whole hour for the mere cost of $36. The shoes were extra, of course. The walk up to the lane itself seemed extra slippery and made bowling harder than it should be.. The lanes appeared to be unevenly waxed. You can tell that bowling is just a feature of this place and not something that they really care about. With all the other entertainment places in town I don't think I would particularly be inclined to go back here. It was fun, but it was expensive and I'm not entirely sure it was worth it. read more

Let's be clear, one doesn't come to the main event for fine dining. Not even great bar food. This place is about fun & games and cold beer. We came for our grandson's 6th birthday. As far as that goes, the night was a grand slam. Kids running amok skipping from game to game and running to mom or dad (or grandpa) for more $$ for the games. There's a nice bowling alley for "adult" diversion along with air hockey and disc games. I didn't see a billiards table anywhere. Party food for the kids were 2 mini burgers, fries and a drink. Burgers were dry. Fries lukewarm and sodas were nice and sweet. The kids loved it. My wife and I ordered nachos. Pretty much ballpark stuff. Chips doused in cheese with a few pieces of chicken (they were out of beef). But watch your food carefully. Put down your glass and the young waitress will swoop in and clear the place setting before you can say a word. Lost a burger, fries & a drink in a 10 second span. We went on a Wednesday night, so it wasn't crowded like on a weekend. The facility was nice and clean and they had staff polishing and disinfecting everywhere. Kudos for that. So, if you want games and aren't afraid of digging deep into your pocket, you can have a fine time. Just don't set your expectations too high. read more

Unfortunatly our first trip to main event, will probably be our last. We understand that being a Saturday night it would be busy. However, we were greeted with someone who acted like they didn't want to be there. We put our names in and were told a 20 minute wait. 45 minutes later, we finally got a text. Once we came to the stand, we were told she had to speak to the manager to see if we actually had a table. Thankfully, Edwana (so sorry if I got your name wrong) was able to take us. Again, we do not blame our waitress AT ALL. She was slammed, with absoluetly no help, and we are very grateful she took our table of 2. She took our order quickly, and made sure our food came out at a decent time. The cheesy bread, and burger were great, even though they came out wrong. Nothing he couldnt just pick off-- we even saw her put in "plain". As for the games, half of them didn't work after taking our credits. We raked up the points the best that we could with what little games were available. Once we at a zero balance, we selected our items. This was another awful experience. The worker didn't seem to give two shits. Swiped our cards, said we didn't have enough points for what we had, then left. WITH OUR POINT CARD. He disappeared for 5-10 minutes, and seemed even more annoyed that we were still standing there waiting. Overall experienced, we will never be coming back. I'm surprised by everyone's ratings for main event. I enjoyed visiting this place! The food and drinks are definitely over priced but that's kind of expected for a place like this. They offer a variety of activities including bowling, pool, arcade games, and more. The staff has always been friendly and helpful if I needed anything. I will say, for a large place, it isn't as noisy as I'd expect. I had no problem talking to the people I was with even with a crowd there. I'm surprised at how late this place stays open, but I like that it can be a late night activity that isn't just a bar. read more

My husband and I stayed after and utilized the gaming besides just the bowling alleys. It was christmas with many large parties. Went and took my three boys (all 10 and under) to a birthday party here. The parents for the birthday boy appear to have taken the party option to allow 2 activities and a 60 credit game card per person ($22 value per guest). The high ropes course was one of the activities but only half of the kids were allowed to take part because "they ran out of time" at 4pm. They only had the course open for the party goers for about 10 minutes total. It was cruel to measure my kids, tell them they are tall enough to participate but then turn them away because the staff was too slow to get the kids ready to take part. They did get to take part in laser tag and that seemed to be for a while. The arcade was alright, several different types of games to play but I'd recommend you watch someone else play something before you swipe your card as it's disheartening to see 15 credits go to a game that doesn't function properly. Additionally, skeeball has a sign that reads "9 balls per card swipe" but it only provided us five total balls when we played, two at a time twice and then one single ball afterwards. They had fun, but surely this isn't worth the amount that the parents paid as they didn't get what they were sold. I wouldn't do a birthday party for any of our kids after seeing how my kids and several others of this party weren't able to take part in one of the paid activities. This seems like a rip off to me and clearly false advertisement to charge an amount per head and then not allow the partygoers to take part in the activities purchased. read more

She did everything possible to correct a situation that happened, she probably wasn't even supposed to be my server but due to a misunderstanding she ended up taking care of my party. Main event Lousiville is your classic and stereotypical eat, drink and play in the same vein as a Dave and busters. It's an arcade, bowling alley, laser tag, bar and eatery that is aimed for adults and kids alike. This location in the Jefferstown portion of louisville is rather large. They have a huge bar, some bowling lanes, a good sized arcade, it's own pizzeria called la Bella's, a obstacle/jungle gym course at the top and a laser tag. Like most of these places it is over priced on the arcades and not monitored. So you know on a Friday or Saturday night this place is baby sitter to some peoples kids. There isn't any one here to tell the kids to quit acting crazy and running and banging on arcade machines and stuff. So if unruly and loud children bother you then you may want to make a school hours visit. I came here this past Sunday night with my daughters for a classmates birthday party. The place was a hot mess. Trash over flowing and understaffed. The arcades instead of saying 50 cents or a dollar do thaw Credits system and have weird credit amounts to were it impossible to spend an exact amount. I get the marketing tool behind it because you aren't likely to do the math to figure out the value of a credit to the game and they want you to come back. But I hate it. Also they charge you a $2 game card fee which is rough for a guy like me who has 4 kids who don't want to necessarily stand over top each other the whole time when playing. So I'm out $8 min on game cards that I know we won't keep track of when we leave. The arcade games I will say are updated and new and have some cool and unique games. While I did not do the laser tag here my 7 year old did at her friends birthday party and she loved it. So it may be fun. We dined at the la Bella's place instead of eating main events normal bar food. It was just ok. It like the whole overall place was and very filthy and understaffed that night. Overall these places seem like a good idea and you absolutely can have fun. You just can't think with your wallet when doing so. It's gonna be pricey. My biggest pet peeve here is they don't set boundaries. Yes the place having a bar is geared for adults but you know you are gonna get children here. People will treat it like a Chuck E. Cheese. Except it isn't. Chuck E. Cheese supervises the kids and has the arm band or stamp system for kids safety and also monitor the kids. So if would be nice if they made sure the kids are being supervised. Especially with adults at bars drinking. Who knows what can happen? They also have moving sliding glass doors. My one year old made a break for one. Anyone of these other unsupervised kids could of ran out in a parking lot with a automatic door system. So I'd like to see this place monitor it's arcade a lot better. read more

We had several hours to kill while we were waiting for a friend's flight to get in. We were looking for something fun to do on a Monday night and we figured we'd try Main Event, with my husband having good memories from here. They had an all-you-can-play special on Monday nights that seemed too good to be true, so we decided to give it a shot! The Monday all-you-can-play special was a little underwhelming. It included table games (pool, shuffleboard), laser tag, bowling, and the ropes course, and none of the arcade-style games. These were fun, but they got old really quickly, especially with the flashy lights of all the arcade games that would cost extra. We found a bowling partner who gifted us what was left of his all-you-can-play card (different than what we got, but still restricting some of the cooler-looking games like the Star Wars VR). We used it to play Guitar Hero. We ordered some food as well. Nothing to write home about, but it did satisfy our craving. Overall, this was alright. I would consider coming back if I'm in a similar situation with some extra time on my hands. read more

I didn't read the other reviews as we are going to give ours. Let's just say wow! They were so kind and generous without asking for anything in return except our happiness while being there. We had so much fun, we came back the next day to do the rest of the activities they offered! Food and drinks were good as well and our server Edwina was pleasant to have and Mike the manager was very welcoming and kind to my family and friend. Very clean environment and looked great! Wish we could get some old school arcade fun family games (The Simpsons, GI Joe, TMNT, Avengers, and maybe one or two boxing machines to relieve some stress for us men, then I'll be set Great for dates too with a nice bar area and pool tables to use. read more

We tried to give main event another chance to celebrate a birthday. We decided to choose Main Event to have dinner and go bowling to celebrate my daughter's birthday. A while back we went and we were disappointed in the horrible service we got. But we figured things had most likely changed and new staff was probably there. NOPE! We weren't greeted (again), the hostess was annoyed we were there because we interrupted her conversation. Took her a good 15 minutes of her seeing us to finally walking over. Yes I timed it because this happened last time. We have 8 people standing there waiting. It was not busy at all. There were only two other tables that had people sitting there. Staff was on their phones. Anyways, she sat us and walked away, the waitress came up- never smiled, just stared at us. No "hi my name is...how are you..." she just stood there. Weird and rude. So we said hello and asked if we could order drinks-lol. Took 17 minutes to get us out waters. Then another 15 before she came to take orders. 45 minutes for food and she never brought plates, and we couldn't find her anywhere. So my kids ate on the napkins. Gross. When she returned she still had never once smiled or tried to be kind. But when it was time to pay the bill she told my kids how great they were and how cute. Go figure! I was so disappointed, I've never been that upset at a restaurant. I did tell the front desk staff and asked if a manager was present so I could tell them but we couldn't find them at the moment and I didn't want to wait. Front desk lady was very kind and understanding. Main event is a cool place with the games and bowling and the atmosphere is decent but don't eat there. This place is fun but very pricy! The drinks were good, a bit overpriced, but the bartender was very kind! I played a few of the arcade games, which I think are worth skipping and a bit boring. The laser tag is pretty fun, but I wish it was a bit longer. The bowling and billiards seemed overpriced, especially considering the normal price of those activities. Absolute garbage experience. Screens for bowling didn't work, garbled text so impossible to select settings and write in names. Just pressed the screen to start the game. Nothing made sense. Also no access to virtual waiter so we had to leave our lane to order food which meant our time was running while we were trying to order food instead of taking our turns bowling efficiently because teammates had to leave to order food as well as drinks because a server wasn't showing up and we had to wait for team mate to return each time so they could take their turn. We "played" for an hour (aka we stood at our lane and played somewhat but that clock was running regardless of us actually playing while we had to manage food ourselves. Our lane closed after an hour even after we were told we would get more time added due to the inconvenience of our screens not working and our virtual waiter not working and time was spent running back and forth to the bar. We even had to get our glasses of water for ourselves after waiting 30 minutes and no one had brought the waters that we had requested. Spoke to the front desk turns out out it was only 5 minutes added on to our lane time for the laundry list of problems with our experience. We definitely didn't start playing at their claimed start time and waiting for tech support to show up and figure out the problem. The problem was never resolved and they said they would add more time to our bowling. Since the viritual assistant also wasn't working they said they would call someone for us. Waited and waited and waited. Later we learned that there was only one actual server for the entire place on a Saturday. Seriously? What a joke. This experience was such a disappointment. This is our first time at this establishment and we will 100% never be back. The kicker is the lanes were half empty by the time our lane was closed. The management could have easily extended our time on the lanes to allow us to finish our game and to continue waiting for our food order that hadn't arrived. Instead we had to leave our lane and thus needed to cancel our food order. Just an all around disappointing afternoon. I heard this place was horrible but I guess I had to see it for myself to realize why it wasn't worth the effort to spend time here. read more

Very disappointed. Took my grandson here for a special day over spring break. So many of the games were broken and not marked. Time and again the machines debited his card and nothing happened. I reported the first 3 times it happened, then gave up. I bought the $105 card, and we left with 2/3 of it remaining. The Lexington location was better before. We'll have to try and get there again to spend the balance. Just not a good experience. :-( read more

I have traveled the 64 for years visiting family and have wanted to always give Main Even a chance. I finally had the opportunity. Plenty of parking and the venue looks great. The problem with Main Event is you don't really know what to do when you walk in. There isn't a host or greeter to help new comers and you have to walk about 35 yards in before you see any signage. They use every inch of this place but because of that you feel absolutely smothered. You can't stand in line to get a table without being in the way of someone in line to pay for laser tag or youi are in the way for someone trying to just walk by. Every staff member I spoke to except for one seemed exhausted, overwhelmed and just burnt out. A couple were just zoned out and when I asked a question they just shrugged and walked off. It was so loud in the place it was hard to hear anything. All of the arcade cabinets are stacked flush to each other to the point people playing one game are blocking another. The games were good but they were overcharging for each play. The potential is there but you just have almost too much crammed into the place. The food was sub-standard for the most part. Dry burgers that didn't seem fresh, the fries were stale and the cheese dipping sauce that came with the pretzels was so old it had a layer of skin on it. I will admit the pretzels were great and the house ranch was really good. But the rest of the food needs some serious attention. read more

I told a lady who worked there about the first game being broken and her response was 'yeah we know, I'm sorry, come back next year we're supposed to be replacing all the broken games'. I went here with my brothers and their kids for a few hours to kill some time. Sadly they only had a handful of staff working, so service was incredibly slow. The servers were fantastic and so polite, working their tail off trying to serve everyone, so no fault of their own. The game card machines were also malfunctioning unfortunately too. Haven't been here in years, but it wasn't the greatest experience. However, I know it's an incredibly busy time of year and they're short staffed. Would love to see their staff grow so they can truly flourish as an establishment, and fix a few hiccups, to truly make this a great place to eat, play, and have fun! read more

The staff there was horrible. The only nice and helpful one was our waitress Tiffany. We had never been there before and were with a a friend and her child. We had a couple questions and were treated like the lady at the desk had better things to do and barely answered the questions. Then we tried asking another staff member and we're treated with the same indifference. But our waitress was very nice and told us how things worked. It's clean and the food was good. But the staff left a bad taste in our mouth so we probably won't be back. read more

My group of 4 came here after a long day of bourbon and wine tasting. Bowling was good, but the food sucked. Bowling is per hour, our lane went down for about 10 minutes, we thought management would give us our time back, but NOPE. The food was a miss. My husband had some of the saltiest lemon pepper wings, I don't know how he ate them. I had an order of onion rings, they were good.
