They were both supposed to be spicy, but the only flavor, let alone spice, was the crushed red pepper. Now lets talk about the fried rice. To start, we ordered small fried rice, as that was described to us as what would normally come with a meal, rather than a larger fried rice, which usually is it's own meal. Small is an understatement. I wish we had measured it before putting it on the plate, because if it was a third of a cup, I would be surprised. There was absolutely NOTHING fried about this rice. It was white rice, with scallions and a little scrambled egg (and pork in my boyfriends as ordered). No soy sauce, no veggies, no flavor, whatsoever. Because the portion was so small (it did not come with any other white rice), we will need to make more to finish the amount of food that came with the dinner portion of the meal. Fortunately someone knew that there was no flavor in their food because they put enough Soy Sauce in the bag to drown out the taste of just about anything. I also ordered a side of Spring Rolls, which is 6 of the smallest fried dough with barely any veggies in it. I chose to snack on one in the car, and it was horrible. I thought maybe I would try a second dipped in the duck sauce- MISTAKE! My bad because the car moved, and I spilled some on my hand, but it was HOT, and I totally burned the palm of my hand. Who serves HOT DUCK SAUCE? YUCK! I truly feel bad (or envy?) all of the people that wrote reviews indicating this is amazing Chinese food, because they clearly have never tasted good Chinese food. The best part of the meal? The pre-packaged fortune cookie. Literally the only thing that tasted like Chinese food should.

Then someone else ordered at the drive-through and they were also asked to wait, as they proceeded to park next to me. 10 minutes later they brought out their food. Deciding to go check inside and ask about my order it seemed it was already bagged and ready. Noticing she shared a knowing smile with one of her coworkers and proceeded to laugh. As she brought it to the front of the register. Did they have me wait on purpose? Would I have received my food at all if I hadn't walked inside? I waited a total of 32 minutes for what seemed to be an order that was already bagged and ready. On a good note they did fill the plates a good amount.

My wife and I love Chinese food but finding an excellent Chinese restaurant in southeastern Idaho was difficult at best until we discovered the Main Moon. The restaurant is very clean and quiet. Just the basics in atmosphere but it works. The Main Moon has been in business for seven (7) years. The food is the best we have had in years and it is very reasonably priced. I had the Sweet & Sour Chicken dinner and it was perfect and I mean perfect. There was a lot of food and I had to take half of my meal home which I enjoyed later. I also had a bowl (Big Mistake) of the Hot & Sour soup. The soup was excellent but when they say a "bowl" they mean a bowl. Only going to do a cup of soup the next time we go. I had to pack half of that up as well and take it home. The key to the food there is that each dish tasted different and nothing was bland. The food really stood out and even the nuts used had an excellent taste. If you're visiting the Idaho Falls area make it a point to eat at the Main Moon. You won't be disappointed. read more

We live in Ammon and go there because it is close. That being said, we go at least once a week and if I had to drive further I would. The Broccoli Beef is out of this world and I would eat it more often if I could get away with it. The Mandarin Chicken is lightly coated compared to the Sweet and Sour Chicken and the serving is huge. The lunch menu is a good deal since you get a choice of soup or spring roll along with it. I recommend the Main Moon to all my friends and several of us go out for lunch I steer them there. I support this local business and feel it would be a loss if they closed from lack of customers. read more

Best fried rice in town! Having lived in Taiwan I can say the flavors are authentic and the menu has something for everyone. The fried rice isn't full of soy sauce. Ham or egg fried rice in China is generally white not brown when it comes out of the wok. If you like soy sauce you can always add it! read more

The sweet-sour pork was okay, it was hot and crispy. There was no color to anything: no peppers, carrots, or anything other than the celery and that colorless sauce. Visually, it was not appealing. Once I got past that, it wasn't bad. It hit the spot but didn't set off any flags -- good or bad. The Christmas ornaments on the ceiling are odd, but probably no odder than the music playing in May -- Jingle Bells on repeat -- until someone must have said something, because it stopped. WHAT HAPPENED: When they're busy, they don't have enough servers on. This was something we had already been warned about, and got to witness first hand. Also, without informing us, they charge for soda refills! Seems the server was padding the check, thanks to two teenagers with us, and they drink soda. I had a couple of beers that I expected to be charged for, but my other half's coffee refills?, mann come-on. The place is overly priced to begin with, the food was not fantastic. They were riding on their legacy name. Surviving by tourist seasons of the unsuspecting. I gave it two stars because the food wasn't bad. I can say that the experience was not worth the bill. I did see the prices before we ordered and did not hesitate. However, those prices raised my expectations. To top it all, the atmosphere is dark and cramped. Never again! It might seem petty to not give a second chance if you think that only the bill is the reason. The lack of transparency, price to quality, and shoddy service combined. I think there are equally if not better restaurants in Idaho Falls. It's not worth the price here. UPDATE: with a vengeance! Mitch and Justin at The SnakeBite showed me just how much things can change under new management/ownership. My first review stated that it was a couple of years ago, lol Mitch helped me sort out the timeline, and it was actually close to 6 years ago. Guess I'm a little out of the loop, because I was informed that 100Proof Hospitality bought the restaurant about 4 years ago, long after I had sworn the place off forever. I know some might not appreciate an old experience popping up like brand new in a review. I get that in hindsight, but these new owners didn't flinch, and they are savvy--I tell you that. They turned someone (me) who would've never returned, into their regular customer. To start, the two teens have grown, it was only the two of us, which didn't matter because they no longer charge for refills under the new ownership. We were hosted by..well, a young man who was a little less than personable. He wasn't bad, typical in fact, but after experiencing the management and our server--the rest of the team outshines him a bit. It was late lunch, so they were still busy, but had enough open seating for the two of us. Laney--our server, is the coolest lady to ever walk the planet. She was hustling, laughing, smiling and talking with everybody. Just magnificent ambiance. She handled my undecidedness in style, answering every single one of my questions with complete honesty. "So if I put pepperjack on this, will it ruin the flavor of the cheese sauce." Direct eye contact, slowly nodding with a cringing look, "yeahhh probably." Great pallet to boot cuz she was so right. The Blue SnakeBite Burger--mann that sauce!, is what "zesty blue" is all about! I also got a Stuffed Mushrooms appetizer. I hope I remember this exactly, but it's basically a spinach and artichoke dippy sauce stuffed inside of two very large portobello crowns, a fantastic drizzle and roasted red peppers on top! I would eat those every meal for the rest of my life! My other half got the Haddock with Waffle Fries, added Coconut Shrimp and Salad. She was too busy eating to tell me what she thought lol--loved it all. We sat, had met the dazzling Laney( who can bring people back all herself) ordered, and--get this--I ordered through Laney, a beer from the bar. The bar shortly later poured the wrong beer (think person ordered wrong), which was the same draft that I ordered. So over to our table comes the smiling and booming bartender with the beer out stretched to me, "You want a free beer"--well, yeah. The kicker: Nobody knew yet, including management, we were the "2nd look" couple. SnakeBite and 100Proof Hospitality, unknowingly pulled off a mic drop. Prices slightly higher than chains, and worth every cent! We will be back. So should you!

If I was fishing all day on the Snake River, this place would absolutely HIT! (....do I fish? No…read more But I imagine if I did, SnakeBite would be peak post fishing day food!) if you're a fried pickle fan, you have to order these! I'm pretty sure they lightly sprinkled some ranch seasoning on them and now I'm refusing to eat them any other way! The other highlight was the skillet cookie, which we downed like a pack of hungry wolves! Warm, gooey and yet crispy with creamy vanilla ice cream! chefs kiss
