Came for lunch with a group. Was hoping for a craft brewery vibe, and this is not that. Inside is dark and bar-like, but is probably cool at night with a band. Food was average, we all had burgers or chicken sandwiches. Burgers were a little under seasoned and smaller than expected. Chicken was ok but a little dry. Tried their IPA and barrel aged stout. Stout was tasty but the IPA was underwhelming. Service was competent but a bit slow fo an almost empty restaurant. Parking is pretty easy. Wouldn't go out of the way to come here, but wouldn't say no to an invite either. read more

A friend and I went to see the Cocktail Monkeys. One of my favorite bands. Love them to the moon and back. Dinner - I had the French Dip. Went to hear a friends band play and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. It was busy with a birthday party so we found a table close to the door and stage expecting it to be noisy and distracting it was neither. Our server John as great. Attentive, laid back and always smiling. He had a perfect pace for the place often giving us a thumbs up to check in. We were happy to find a tout in tap so we ordered two along with onion rings and garlic fries. The stouts were served in a snifter style glass chilled and great full body flavor. Onion rings were beer batter dipped, crispy and not greasy. The fries were sprinkled with grated cheese (Parmesan i think) hot and fresh in a basket. Great "come as you are" neighborhood feel. Only down side was the mannequin that greets you blocked our view of the stage (the reason we came). And the band was awesome! read more

My Dad and I have been going out for hamburgers together for 30 years, and Main Street Brewery hands down has the best burgers and fries anywhere. Every time we go, our burgers are cooked to perfection, mine medium rare and his medium. Extra crispy fries that are so yummy you will even eat the crumbs on your plate! Matt, the owner is a great host, and Gabriel in the kitchen remembers every detail of what we order. I don't know how we could give it a better rating. We went to see a band play last night, and ordered a pale ale, wings and fried battered mushrooms. Both the beer and wings were mediocre, wings may have actually been borderline bad but still edible. The fried mushrooms were good, highlight of the evening sadly. The ambience is that of a dive bar, not a craft brewery so their name is a bit misleading. If we were to go back, it would only be to listen to a band. read more

I have been coming to Main Street for decades. The wait service was terrible. I ordered a drink and asked for a menu - 20 min later had nothing but watched the waiter walk around socializing never placed my drink order. I then went to the bartender who was great go my drink and placed my order for food. So 2 drinks and food later paid and tipped the bar tender well. But I was driving so I needed to drink water for a bit before driving. So I went to the bar twice more to get water. The 2nd trip the owner Matt was an A$$ to me said I have to buy water and he wasn't going to fill up my ice water glasses again. I thought how rude I have dropped over $60 bucks and this is the treatment I get over asking for water. Good thing the band was good. Just sad. read more

I went there because the name "Main Street Brewery" made me think it was a brewery. When I arrived I saw that "Main Street Brewery" and "828 Bites & Brews" were two different signs on the same place. Well the place did have two rooms. One side was closed, with an unused bar inside, the other side was open. The open side was a Dive Bar. It had a pretty good beer list featuring several regional products. I got the BBQ pork sandwich which was good. The barman was doing his best, he was alone and the place was pretty busy. There were several TVs, not big-screen sharp-image ones like you see in most places, but TVs the size of home TVs, with dim images, the kind where they're only bright if you're viewing them straight-on. Though I was really disappointed in not getting the brewery experience I had in mind, I gave it four stars because it was good for what it was. read more

The worst food. I was incredibly shocked We ordered fried mushrooms and a couple other appetizers and it took almost an hour to get the food and look at what fried mushroms look like. Looks like little raisins instead of mushrooms. We were told after we had ordered that they didn't have pears for their pear salad so they put strawberries and grapes on top of browned lettuce. We decided to take our salad to go because their tables were not clean and an employee came out after we were standing for a long time and cleaned the seats with bleach. We didn't stay because we didn't want our dark clothes ruined by the wet, bleached seats. When we asked to speak with a manager, we were told that no manager was on the shift. Came here for a beer and appetizer. When walking in, there are lots of tables for seating. They also have a stage area that live bands come to play on weekends. We tried their beers, an IPA and a Strawberry Blonde Hefe. The first IPA was not too hoppy but perfectly balanced. The strawberry blonde hefe was not too fruity, full flavor and on the lighter side. The appetizer we chose was the fried ravioli (b/c I have been wanting fried ravioli for awhile now). They were hot and delicious! Cheesy on the inside, crispy on the outside. And the marinara sauce went perfect with it. We had good service. From both the gentleman and the lady working. Would definitely come back again. read more

Been coming here for years with friends and spent thousands of dollars on drinks and crappy food. We came here to listen to live music and it is usually easy to get a table. I will never set foot in there again. Waited 45 minutes along with some other customers to be served watching the server continually walk by all if us completely ignoring us obviously on purpose. Served everyone around us. When we finally stopped him And asked if he was our server he replied with an attitude I can be. We left and never will return. Not worth it. Food has never been good service is horrible. Be sure to read the health violations!!!! read more

New to this town and found this place on yelp so I've been wanting to check it out. I ended up bar hopping on a Saturday night and this was the second of the three stops. The first impression as I walked in was that this place had a nice ambience with many people on the dance floor. I sat at the bar and checked out their beer menu. I tried a couple of samples but I was indecisive of what to drink. So I went with what was recommended by the bartender. I didn't enjoy the beer I drank nor the service the bartender was providing so I walked next door and had a beer I was familiar with and I had a better time there. Overall experience goes as follows; service, beers on tap and restrooms sucked. But I am just reviewing based on my observation so the 3 stars goes to the ambience since the crowd that was there seemed like they were having quite the enjoyable time. read more

A good, old school neighborhood bar and grill, with lots of space and live bands on weekends. Given the 'older dude' crowd, there is often someone with an in-your-face political shirt, hat, or viewpoint--but the regulars seem to be good at ignoring them--or trying to pivot to lighter conversation. With all the new brewpubs I'd like to see more consistency in their on-site brews, but they have plenty of good name brand taps to choose from. Most of the bands are 60's-90s cover acts, and I like to look out for the occasional ones with a unique and original sound. read more

I've stopped here a few times and each experience has been decent. Sometimes they have a band playing inside. Other times, we've just grabbed drinks. The last time I visited, I ordered food with a friend. You get a decent sized portion and it's pretty reasonably priced. My turkey burger and salad was just the right amount. The vinegarette was a bit on the sour side but other than that, I enjoyed my meal here. I'll ask for honey mustard or something else next time. read more

My husband and I came to hear a great band we heard about "Rubber Soles". What a treat Main Street Brewery was. We started with our drinks, made perfectly from the bar, with a yummy appetizer of various sausages. Main Street Brewery is known for its great hamburgers and fries so we each picked out the hamburger we wanted from a large selection on the menu. I had their famous fries my husband had the salad. The hamburgers were large with excellent meat cooked the way you wanted it and the plain fries were the best fries I have had in years, no kidding. Food is just OK, and expensive for the quality. The food is sometimes dry and some of the house beer is below average. The management is a bit prickly too. Servers are generally OK but there are a few with attitude. One time a waiter grabbed the drink out of my hand and said "we're closing" - good thing I wasn't in the mood to tango. Lots of places to go in Pleasanton besides here. The best time to go is if they have a good band playing - probably what saves them from going under. read more

So called "bar tender " needs to get over himself and treat people like patrons instead of nobody low lives. Went to dance and he took my drink. Asked why and he brought me half a drink and said I was lucky because it was free? Really? You take my drink (not gone) and act like you're doing me a favor??? Ok. Even though they say they have happy hour they don't . They advised because they have a live band they dont have happy hour. So it says they start the live music a 6PM they soon changed it to 7PM and then music changed it to 8pm. All-around, one of the most unpleasant restaurant experiences, characterized by hot, muggy-aired ambiance, decorated with office space style ceiling tiles, slow food service, and awful, arguably misleading food. The sausage sampler was split hotdogs dried out on the griddle, and the wings were a marvel--fully cooked and yet completely limp and jiggly. Came here for my partner's bday. He wanted live music and they had a band playing that night. It's on the medium size, only one bathroom for each gender and they have a good amount of beer selections. The menu for food is larger which is cool but the food was alright. we had a few appetizers to eat and they were just okay.. the only reason why I gave them 4 stars is that it's so hot in there. There isn't much ventilation inside and it gets a little stuffy.. They do have outside tables in the front but you don't get to enjoy the live music that way. But all in all I would recommend this brewery for a night out with ur friends. The employees there were really nice, we had our server who was very nice and she would come check on us very often. Beware of this place- NO REFUNDS AND POOR SERVICE! I went to the Main Street Brewery for my first time this weekend. My girlfriend and I walked in and thought this may be a good place to hang out. When we tried to get a drink from the bar, the bar tender was extremely rude to us (short guy with blonde hair) and he said we were sitting at the waitress station. We apologized and moved over to accommodate his request. We attempted to order our drinks again and then we were told that we were still blocking the waitress pathway to the bar. Being this was our first time, we weren't sure of the bar rules. The bar tender was very rude and shouting out at us which was very embarrassing and somewhat harassing. I asked to speak to the manager. When I explained the incident, he promised to refund my $20 entrance fee but needed to meet him outside and removed our wrist bands which was proof of cover charge payment. We waited for about 1/2 hour but the manager never shows up. As I tried to get back into the club the bouncer wanted me to pay another cover charge! REALLY? My girlfriend was very upset as the bartender and the bouncer seemed to be very threatening to us! Is this a way to enjoy a night out at a club? BEWARE OF MAIN ST BREWERY! Please don't go there anymore as a sign of protest of treating their customers badly! read more

I used to come here quite frequently with friends but, due to Covid, I haven't been in quite a while. Went last night and had the rudest bartender I've ever encountered. Ever. What a nasty man. If it wasn't for the great live music I would never step foot it this place again. I haven't been to this Brewery in about ten years, as the food and service was so poor. I heard it had new ownership and have been meaning to drop by, as it's a great location. I came to see the Marshal Law Band ( great as always!) The house IPA was undrinkable. Had a friend try it and the said it tasted like it had rubbing alcohol in it. Service was great and didn't flinch and exchanging it for a guest tap beer. Nachos were tasteless and soggy. Sad showing even for pub grub. Mixed drinks were fine. Staff was short handed and overwhelmed. Saw several groups leave without ever being served. Long waits for service. Great spot for live music, which is hard to find in the Bay Area. No need to go unless your going for the music. read more
