Beef tips over rice, purple hulls, greens, hot water cornbread

Authentic Texas Country Cookin' When you walk in and see pickled pepper sauce on the table for the peas and greens, you know it is gonna be good. We ate off the steam table. Excellent. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, perfectly deep East Tx country cookin' at it's finest. Both myself and spouse grew up in the deep woods of SE Tx in the 60's and 70's when everybody's mama and grandma cooked from scratch. We know southern food. What I ate today rivaled my grandmother's cookin' and that's saying something. I had grilled porkchop, purple hull peas, greens, hot water cornbread, coconut cake, tea. Spouse had beef tips and gravy over rice, purple hills, greens, hotwater cornbread, lemon cake. Tea was fresh-brewed and so was coffee. $28 bucks, including drinks and dessert. Service was good and friendly. I tip my native Se Tx deep woods hat to you, ladies; you can cook, INDEED!

Great food. Friendly staff. Down home taste. Hard to park near. Across the street maybe easier

Chorizo with eggs, l enjoyed my food! A lot of protein in this place!

Food was very good, and portions were big! I had the chorizo and eggs, and it was really good, my husband had the country breakfast, the biscuits and gravy were really good too, he said he enjoyed his breakfast also. Service was a little slow, but worth it. The lady who waited on us was really nice, she was also who cooked our breakfast. The bathrooms could use an update and a more thorough cleaning.

My mother and I happened to be in the area taking care of business and running errands. Not too far from where we were, this was just up the road. We decided to stop and check this place out. We were pleasantly surprised at the menu items and prices in a good way. This place had your typical American faire. Burgers, club sandwiches, breakfast, etc. This place seemed well maintained and our food was brought out rather quickly. My mom hadn't eaten breakfast earlier so she wanted a burger. Much to our surprise, it was rather large for a single patty burger. She said it was one of the best burgers she ever had and the fries were so crispy and delicious. (I had to try one) I got a BLT and it was rather nice and light. I would defiantly come back if I were to ever be in the area again. I'm uploading the menu's pictures for reference for anyone who needs a heads up!

I got all veggie and all meat omelet, it was huge and cost under $13 wow!

Cute little cafe I was driving from Louisiana to Tyler Texas and had to stop for breakfast. Ordered something off menu and it was amazing. Great service, nice people. Must stop in and check out their buffet. My plate was huge, and I got all veggie and all meat omelet. Only cost $13 wow! There is a bit of a wait but only because the food is so good! Well worth the wait!

Makes you feel like you're in a Texas country town for sure! My daughter and I were in Nacogdoches for college visit to SFA and we looked this place up in the hopes that we would find something different than a normal chain stop. It certainly is different and was exactly what you might imagine. Everything on the menu is decently priced and it seems that Tuesday is the place to be with short stack specials for $2 along with the weekday breakfast special at $6.95 On of my daughter's favorite meals is chicken fried steak and what better place to try that than a local diner??? Unfortunately it fell below expectations. The portions were quite large, enough that we could have just split a plate. The idea of sausage gravy on top of the mashed potatos and steak sounds heavy but also potentially fantastic. However both the gravy and the fry were quite under seasoned. I was able to fix mine with some cholula sauce and some salt and pepper was a quick fix as well for my daughter. The side of green beans and carrots she got were actually pretty good so perhaps there was just a disconnect in flavor at the meat station this day. I did very much enjoy the side salad I chose instead of the veggie medley. Came with home-made ranch which brought me back to my East Texas family gatherings with the freshly shaken ranch.....it was great. The portion size was pretty fair value at $13. Like I said we could have just split it between us. Very hit or miss flavors leaves this at a 3-stars for me. But no doubt some of the nicest folks in town work here.

I am a guest at the hotel, and unfortunately, the service I experienced in the café and poolside…read morearea on August 21 was extremely disappointing. After helping our daughter move for school, we returned to the hotel exhausted. We had already had an early dinner, so we decided to have a drink and order a light appetizer and dessert poolside. The bar was crowded, and although three different servers came through the pool area, not one stopped at our table to ask whether we needed menus or anything else. We eventually had to flag someone down ourselves. Unfortunately, that interaction seemed to set the tone for the remainder of the evening. The staff we encountered were consistently unwelcoming and inattentive. It gave the impression that they were simply there to complete their shift rather than provide the level of hospitality guests should reasonably expect. The atmosphere was also frustrating. A toddler was repeatedly screaming at the top of her lungs while a musician was performing, and the child's father made no apparent effort to address the situation. While that is not necessarily the hotel's responsibility, the combination of the disruptive environment and poor service made for a particularly unpleasant experience. The situation became even more frustrating when we accidentally left my arm brace on the table as we hurried to finish our nightcap and leave. Within approximately five minutes of realizing it was missing, my husband returned to retrieve it. Since it had been left on the table moments earlier, we expected that the server or another staff member would be able to locate it easily. Instead, he was sent from the bar to the kitchen and then to the front desk. After approximately 15 minutes, he returned without the item. That experience reinforced the impression I had already formed earlier in the day: there appears to be very little communication or coordination among the staff. No one seemed to take ownership of a simple guest-service issue or make an effort to resolve it efficiently. When guests are paying nearly $600 for two nights in a small town such as Nacogdoches, particularly at a property marketed as one of the best accommodations in the area, there is an expectation of professional, attentive hospitality. Guests should feel welcomed, recognized, and valued. Unfortunately, I did not experience that during my stay. The attitude of the waitress who ultimately served us was particularly disappointing and significantly affected the overall experience. Her demeanor was not appropriate for someone working in a customer-service position, much less one at a property presenting itself as a higher-end accommodation. I strongly recommend that management take a closer look at staff training, communication, accountability, and expectations surrounding guest service. Tipping is part of the hospitality industry, and guests should not have to repeatedly seek out employees for basic service. Based on this experience, I will not be staying here again. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and uses it as an opportunity to improve the guest experience for future visitors.
