Main Street Citgo is my go to spot for inspections in the area. They start everyday at 8 am but I would highly advise getting there around 7:40 to get "in line." Be prepared to bring your registration and $35 in CASH. They use to accept checks but when I visited this morning they were cash only. They have two seats in their waiting area and it only takes about 12 minutes for them to complete the inspection. I have tried to go in the afternoon before and they've told me to come back in the AM. There was one car in front of me in line this morning when I arrived and I was still out of the place by 8:30. They aren't the friendliest but they are efficient and no nonsense. read more

Yes, the gas isn't the cheapest around, but this is a full service station. I've had my truck and my wife's car worked on there and the interactions are straightforward and no-nonsense. Several months ago I had to get my master cylinder replaced, and going in I had a good guess of what it might cost. When the estimate came in, it wasn't far off. Ditto on new tires for my wife, and most recently a new battery for her car (the aftermarket one I bought was bad). Dealing with cars is usually a hassle anywhere you go, but the location is convenient, and the owner is very knowledgeable and direct. Cars don't always work, and when they don't, I like to minimize the amount of hassle that I have to deal with. So far Main St. Citgo has been great to work with. I've recommended to others...and I find Dick to be a pretty good guy. read more

Han an unneighborly business experience today. Cold, sleet falling this Saturday afternoon and I pull into their empty lot and ask the manager pumping gas if I can run into the office next door to drop off a file - 60 seconds I promise! Nope. Business only, the manager said. They weren't busy and I wasn't going to block anything - parked way over on the side. He wasn't rude about it. Fine, so I get back into my car and park someplace else. Drop off is the 60 seconds as promised.(writing this review has taken longer.) I agree totally that I had no right to park there - just looking for a little favor so I wouldn't have to walk so far in the sleet. And it was the manager's absolute right to turn me around. In fact, I also get that they really don't want people parking there to do their shopping. But it was a crummy cold and wet day - and a little courtesy would have been a nice treat. It would have engendered some good will as a good neighbor. So why should I buy gas there - the Mobil next door has the same price for gas today. I will pull into the Mobil instead of the Citgo next time too. read more

I just had a tune up and snow tires put on for my Saab. The bill was $430. I was a little taken aback by the tab so called the owner. He was pleasant but blunt that this was the going rate. I called the Saab dealer i bought the car from and he verified that this was pretty consistent with his dealer rates. One of his main points which gave some of this context is that auto parts today cost more but last way longer which actually has been my experience (with synthetic oil I have not had more than 3 oil changes in 70k miles). I guess the days of $150-200 tuneups are long gone. I feel old. read more

My car developed a clear 'this muffler is dead' sound on the Friday evening drive home from work. Since I knew these guys had a good reputation, I drove to their shop, figuring to walk home. (we are a one-car household and live locally). They not only got my car done on a Saturday to save my having to rent a car for Monday, but one of them dropped me off on his way home, and another gentleman picked me up. And the repair cost was quite reasonable--less than a dealer would charge. These guys rock! read more

Upon the recommendation of a friend I brought a used car to Main Street Citgo to be checked to see if it was worth purchasing. That was over 4 years ago and since that time I have been bringing my car whenever something has come up. Last year, my car failed to pass inspection because of an emission issue. They fixed it (a bit costly) and the engine light went out but came on again months later. Didn't give it much thought until I had to get the inspection sticker this year. It didn't pass again due to the same emission issues. I brought it back to Citgo and they fixed it at no cost as they GUARANTEE their work! I know very little about cars and really appreciate the honesty here and that they back their work. I truly feel like they care about having me as a client. Starting from Richard (the owner) to the young mechanics, they are professional and courteous. It's well worth the 13 miles I have to drive to have the peace of mind that I won't get ripped off and that the work is guaranteed. Can't recommend this place enough! read more

My car was towed here at the recommendation of AAA. I wasn't sure what to expect because as a young female I always fear being taken advantage of by car repair shops. My car was left in their parking lot late at night, so I called at 8:00AM on Saturday morning to inform them of the piece of rubber I hit while driving and to see if they would have time to look at my car. The guy said he would call me back in 2 to 3 hours after looking at my car. I was immediately thankful that they were able to look at my car that day. Surprisingly he called me back in an hour. He told me my car was fine except for the plastic protector piece under it. He gave me the option to not replace it or replace it. He also said my car sounded like I needed oil. I decided not to replace the piece under my car so he said it was ready for pickup. When I picked up my car I was only charged $12 for the two quarts of oil he added. I was so shocked they did not charge me anything for putting my car up on the lift. I will be back! read more

I brought my Honda CRV to Herb Chambers of Burlington to have them replace an air bag. It was a recall, so they did it at no cost to me. I also had oil and filter change. After they finished the work they told me the car needed rear sway bar links and bushings. I asked for a written estimate and they gave me one of $553.00. A few weeks later I had to get an inspection sticker. I went to Main Street Citgo and asked them to also check the rear sway bar links and bushings. Dick told me they should be replaced so I asked him for a price. They did the work and charged $257.00. They are good mechanics and honest. I absolutely recommend them. I have brought my car to Main Street Citgo for repairs for many years and will continue to do so. read more

I had my ten-year-old Acura repaired and it is running better than it has in years! I thought that I needed new brakes and an alignment and it turned out that all I needed was two new tires and a few bolts tightened! Recently moved nearby, stopped for gas on my way home. $3.17X/gallon for regular, filled it up, paid $29.30 cash. Thought that was high but I was lower on fuel than normal, however, I noted the # gallons = 8.345. The way I do math that comes to $3.51X/gallon. Called the station and asked the price of regular gas and was quoted $3.299/gallon which = $27.53. I got took! Don't you! Don't go here for gas! Or anything else!!!!!! Based on this experience, I think they're disreputable. read more
