A group of us enjoyed lunch here on a day out. They had outside and indoor seating and we appreciated their Lunch specials. I had a Cesar salad which was plentiful and kept me full for quite a time. I have been to the Willard many times. So this experience was shocking to say the least. My son and daughter took me here for Father's Day'. We ordered on menu (nothing special) App arrived in a timely fashion However my daughter's food didn't arrive until both my food and my son's was done. Never filled our drinks unless we asked. They apologized but it took over 30 additional minutes from when our food arrived to get hers. Tonight, we started our adventure with a couple of drinks - Rum & Coke, and a Leinenkugles draft. For an appetizer, we selected the jalapeño pepper cheese cubes. I visited here for lunch for the first time today. They had indoor and outdoor seating. Since it was nice out, we opted to sit in the outdoor seating area. The area was beautiful with interesting architecture and flowers. Our server was quick to assist. I ordered the tuna salad sandwich with side of chips and a lemonade to drink. We arrived here on Saturday night about an hour before they were closing. I didn't realize they closed so early but they greeted us with smiles and got us taken care of with no issues. Overall the service very friendly and great. My wife ordered their Rueben sandwich and I ordered their Pork Tenderloin sandwich. It came with your traditional sliced corn beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and thousand island dressing all in between a grilled rye bread. The sandwich was really good. My wife thought it was delicious. My pork tenderloin sandwich was huge. It did lack seasoning but was cooked perfectly. It was very tender and of course filling. Ate at The Willard on Sunday (late lunch). Perfect day to sit on the covered patio! A small problem: a bird nest (by a light box?) almost over our table had a noisy upset bird, so we kept a close watch for a "bird accident" but it didn't happen (luckily!) Service was a little slow, but it was crowded & they were short-staffed so we were patient & enjoyed visiting with our friends. The food was SUPER SLOW...not just ours, but most of the tables around us too. One table nearby left before their food came. After waiting about 35-40 minutes I asked the waitress if we were close to getting our food. She said she had ckd on it & it would be here soon. I asked if we could get some fries or something while waiting & she said ok- but she never brought them. It was prob 75-90 minutes that we waited on food. NOT great customer service! When it finally came out-our food was really good! Our group of 4 had a ribeye steak sandwich, an egg salad sandwich, a grilled chicken salad, & a grilled chicken pesto sandwich. Everything tasted great. I would probably go here again, just not at a busy time. The place is beautiful & we love the atmosphere. It just wasn't a good experience this time. Had lunch with some college friends at The Willard in Franklin, Indiana today. Whenever we play golf at the Legends in Whitestown, we swing by the Willard for lunch. Today I tried the breaded tenderloin. Omg I can't believe how big it is - a family of 4 could dine on that sandwich. It was huge, tender, juicy and flavorful. At first I thought they forgot the bun because I couldn't see it under the meat. I ended up taking over half home for tomorrow's lunch. We waited for refills and condiments almost to the point that they were no longer needed when delivered. The chef salad was fresh but waiter was told of onion allergy. Two days after the New Year we celebrated a birthday luncheon in Franklin. My sister, the birthday girl, had selected this bar and grill in downtown Franklin. I understand that the building had been an old hotel and is host to a certain "ghost". Our table of six were expertly served by a friendly and very efficient server. He was friendly and funny but serious when recommending menu items. First, I can not believe that the quality of food costs so little. They are known for their chicken wings and pizza. I selected the in bone wings with sweet chili sauce and wow were they amazing, I will go back for pizza because my mouth watered with the pie that was delivered to a table near us. We just left this establishment. We sat in the bar and ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fish dinner along with a soda and a beer. The waitress never smiled, said hello, or answered in any sort of way. She had a scowl on her face that never changed. We came into contact with other waitresses that appeared to have the same demeanor. The burger was dry and terrible, the chips were stale. I sat with an empty beer for a while. We entered at 4:00 and there was not that many people there. W should have sat anywhere. I had been to this place about 7-8 years ago and remembered it was an ok/good experience, so that is why we decided to try it again. Stopped in at The Willard with my girlfriend this evening and we left rather unsatisfied. The service was fairly mediocre - but to cut them some slack it was fairly busy. One major bummer about this place is how packed in the tables are. Made for a very crowded feel and was very noisy. Felt like we were eating a meal with everyone in the restaurant. The food was also pretty middle of the line, mediocre. It wasn't bad but nothing really wowed us. Granted - we shared an appetizer, a 12 inch specialty pizza, and boneless wings and the total bill was $45. Relatively cheap pricing but the price definitely reflects the quality of the food. The boneless wings were the highlight of the meal because the hot barbecue sauce was pretty solid. I did want to note that the food did come out pretty quickly and we didn't have too long of a wait on our food. We were in the area and decided to give it a try, but personally would not come out of my way to try it again and would likely go with another option in the future. My family waa visiting from out of town for my granddaughter's 16th birthday. My family from Iowa went ahead of the rest of us to secure seating. They have 2 girls ages 6 and 3. We have been to the Willard many times in the past with kids. The server was rude to my daughter and SIL. They were shoved in a corner with not enough seating for all of us. The bar room across the hall opened up so my daughter and SIL moved to that room with girls. Thank goodness Aiden was working. Nice. Fun. Attentive. Maybe he could give customer service training to some of the staff. If it wasn't for Aiden we would definitely not o back and it would have been 0 stars! We went to the Willard to celebrate a family birthday last week. We've always heard good things about it but can't believe we've never eaten there. I'm so glad we did. The interior of the building reminds me of a bar of the past and the beautiful stairway at the entrance must be where the old hotel was. The room we were seated in had windows halfway around with a great view of downtown Franklin outside. Our server did a great job of recommending foods and what to expect. He was attentive and able to keep our 3 bills straight. They had a full bar and I had a tasty margarita. I had a special of the day which was turkey manhattan. It was yummy and so filling I had enough for lunch the next day. I've heard great stuff about their pizzas and was going to order a carryout to sample some but was so full of turkey that I'll have to come back for that. There are many pros and cons to The Willard but I'm not sure the pros outweigh the cons. Pros: -easy to get to with plenty of parking nearby -near old building with a rich history -you can seat yourself with plenty of options, so there's no wait to get seated -there's a nice outdoor patio -food is cheap Cons: -the food is cheap for a reason. Got takeout from The Willard and the food was good. It was standard bar food. I would probably go here again. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with the takeout process. I called the takeout line on the website and when someone answered and I requested to order takeout, they aggressively said that I had to call the carry out number (which I did) and wanted to give it to me. I was in no place to write a number down (I had no pen or paper and I was driving). I awkwardly was able to get the number down and call it... it was the same number I just called and it was the same number their website had for their takeout order. Just left this lame establishment which looked like a cool place to grab a drink and lunch. We quickly selected a table, as the outside patio was maybe half full. Our male server came our and took our drink order. 5 minutes later, they delivered our neighbor's food. He said they are changing a keg and he'll bring our drinks later. It has been 22 minutes and this is the first I've heard of this. I asked how much longer it will be and he smirked and said, "when it's done." I stood and said we were leaving. He said, "patience is a virtue. What about your food?" I said cancel it and he went crazy, screaming that I was childish and how dare I? Sorry.
