Amazing ice cream. It's made on-site.. And you will go back. Many, many times. Family-owned. Try not to miss the art mural on the left wall which goes all the way back to the rear seating area; it blends in so well you might not notice. Local artists were commissioned, and I believe it's a rendering of the Henry Hudson-era Hudson Valley. I strongly recommend Cookie Monster. (Vanilla ice cream, blueberry juice, and perfectly textured cookie dough bits.) No plastic accepted here. I thought the ice cream was pretty good. Sweet and creamy...maybe lacking a little flavor in my 'cupcake' flavored ice cream. However what bothered me was this place was out of EVERYTHING! I mean we wanted coffee... they did not have it... we wanted apple cider...they did not have it.. we want other food and sweets...they did not have it... I really like Main Street Sweets: tasty flavors generally, and friendly service. I've been patronizing the place for over 10 years. Yesterday was my first time back this season. My Nutella ice cream cone was tasty, but the portion was noticeably smaller than in previous years. Also, the server did not push it down into the cone to "anchor" it, so it almost popped off as I was eating it. And believe me, I would've cried like a little kid if that had happened. As a former ice cream shop worker, I can say that it's a must to get that ice cream properly secured to the cone, to keep kids and adults from bursting into tears. read more

they had a deal on living social, and before i decided to buy it, decided to check yelp for the reviews. well, i didn't buy the deal (since it was for soft serve and all these reviews were raving about the own-made ice cream), but i just stopped in here yesterday to try it. wow, i walked in to the delicious scent of waffle cones and sugar overload. i couldn't decide what to get so i got a sample cup of the main street special, sweet temptation, raspberry truffle (i think?), cupcake, and ... damn, forgot the last one. but i guess it wasn't that good if i didn't remember it, haha. favorite was sweet temptation (coffee ice cream, reeses, and some other peanut butter stuffs). definitely going back and getting a single cup of that. i haven't decided if i like this better or longfords in rye. main st definitely has a better variety and more seating, but i just can't seem to get over longford's graham slam flavor. either indulgence... i'll still need to go on a run after... shucks. read more

Stopped at Tarrytown on our way to Sleepy Hollow. After having a great lunch we decided to stop here for some ice cream. It's a cute little shop that gives you that small town feel. All the ice creams are homemade. they even have no sugar added ice cream and some frozen yogurt options. I have to cupcake ice cream and it was pretty good. Even had real pieces of cupcake in it. The prices were reasonable. I have a small cup for around $2.25 and it was the perfect amount of ice cream. Just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth and not too much to make me sick. Classic ice cream and sweets shop with great service. Delicious ice cream too (tried the mint chip, black raspberry, peachy peach and rocky road). The staff are friendly, attentive, and helpful and the owners are even nicer. The seasonal ice creams are my absolute favorite, especially the pumpkin spice or caramel cookie cold brew. Has definitely gone down over the years..frozen yogurt machine has been out of order ALL summer and they do not replenish their dairy free/vegan ice cream as quickly as they should..went tonight and they did not have any dairy free/vegan ice cream; only their ice pops that they can dip in chocolate..:if you see your vegan ice cream is popular and selling quickly then continuously make it!!! Plus they charge more for it so they'd be making more money! Never see adult workers/owners there anymore; just run by a bunch of teenagers. read more

Love love love this place, and I find it difficult to keep myself away from it during the warmer months, even the slightly warm months! They have wonderful flavors and the staff is always nice. Ice cream is homemade on the premises and had a smooth, fresh and creamy texture. The flavor combination was perfect and was NOT dominated by fake or artificial flavors which I've sadly become used to in many other ice cream parlors. There's a lot of flavors to choose from which gives us a reason to keep on returning. Choosing a flavor wasn't easy since there were several compelling choices. I'm not sure how, but their ice cream seems to have gotten better and the variety of fun flavors offered has too. Staff is very friendly and are willing to give their favorite flavor recommendations, even with a sample or two! I don't know why I was expecting more, it's basically just an ice cream shop with some extra treats to choose from. The nutella ice cream was good but I was charged for a full scoop when she could barely get 1/2 a scoop's worth from the bottom of the box. If you're out, just say you're out, don't give me the scunge off the bottom with other ice cream flavors you dropped in there mixed in. Both girls working that day were completely stone faced and rude. Wouldn't go back unless they had a full container of Nutella ice cream. read more

Very cute little spot on Main Street in Tarrytown. As soon as I walked up to the front door you could smell all the baked goodies and sweets inside. This place is CASH ONLY, which is tough to ask for these days because everything is done via debit/credit cards but it was fine because the group I was with were prepared. The orders were done very quick and the ice cream was really good. My girlfriend and I thought it would be cute for a little dessert date.
