Popped into here after having lunch just next door. We weren't planning on buying anything but we say they sold seltzers so we grabbed a few to try out. After chatting about the flavors we were easily talked into trying their tasters which can be given in 3, 6, or 9 portions. For the seltzers, I really enjoyed the rhubarb & lime as well as the elderflower. We found the mule to be a bit too sweet for what we like. In terms of hard liquor, I would rank from most to least favorites to be the whiskey, gin, rum, apple brandy, and one that tasted like cough syrup. Overall, we had fun even during our brief visit. The staff are sweet and it's a very comfortable and casual environment you can easily spend hours in. Would come again! read more

There are canned alcoholic beverages and then there is Maine Craft Distillery. When I tell you the second chapter of my life began after tasting what an actual canned vodka drink SHOULD taste like, I mean it. Gone are the days that I am drinking High Noons. Cutwater? Never heard of her. My fiance and I went for the $1 buck shuck night. A dozen oysters, plate of delicious gochujang bbq wings, a hearty burger with fries and two drinks each set us back just under $45(including tip) for date night. I loved the drinks so much I ended up purchasing two orders of the summer drink samplers to take home. It's a great spot to enjoy the summer weather and kick back with friends. read more

I stopped in during vacation to taste some of the spirits. I sat at the bar and ordered a sampler of two gins, and a blueberry spirit. I'm a gin fan in general, and I like, no love - most things blueberry. But, for my palate, I was disappointed. The gins were overwhelming on the juniper front and the blueberry spirit reminded me of cough syrup. I enjoyed the ambiance of the place though. Great open space! $1 Oyster special on Wednesday before 9 pm. We had 2 dozens and it was salty and yummy. Service was fast.

Sat outside, like most peeps. Had to go in and get our own cocktails which is fine, but when a server comes for table service and you order food and Prosecco and he keeps checking- everything ok and you remind him that you ordered food and wine? Not great on the service front. Spirits were tasty, food menu limited and adequate. Lots of outdoor seating but the fires were not burning tonight. Left before the band started playing. Will return when music is flowing an fire is burning, but for this evening there were definitely better options, especially for outdoors in Portland. read more

Perfect spot to have drinks while enjoying the music and decor with a group. The variety of spirits they have is awesome, and honestly quite tasty. Likely anyone would find a suitable option on their menu, unless you don't like alcohol. Even then, there's food to partake. The flights are a great way to taste what they make (before buying a bunch to stock your home bar). I have been to this location twice and each time was so easy and stress free and I have left with exactly what I was looking for. I needed a present for a friend that was Maine made...Blueshine it is! It is a tasty beverage that packs a punch. Yum! Maine spirits with Maine Blueberries. After sampling a bit, I knew it was the right present for her...oh and a bottle for me, don't mind if I do. LOL. I love the bottles they use too. Covid Times - We recently heard they were selling hand sanitizer, thanks to our wonderful Yelp Maine Manager :) Always keeping the community updated. It was only $3 for a decent sized jug! Only one per order, but you don't really need more than this size for one trip. As a normal (non-commercial consumer), it's really all you need. As I was about to submit my online order...I noticed the cans of gin & tonic. Ummm, yes, please. It is so tasty and easy, no mixing no fuss, it's perfect :) Easiest curbside pick up I have experienced thus far. Totally worth it. Went to MCD twice recently for outdoor music events. SO glad to see that happening! The space in back is actually perfect as a small to medium music venue. MCD itself seems to be an affable host and the bartender both times I was there was both overwhelmed (with business) yet positive and awesome! My only suggestion is to maybe (?) expand their food menu with one or two additional items that are not fried and not a burger. Options like salsa and chips or hummus and cut veggies would be SO welcome! read more

Was at MCD for a work related reception. This was my first time visiting and was very impressed. The space is fantastic for small and larger group events. It is also great for just a couple of people. They have a nice outdoor venue with corn hole and tables. The inside offers all types of seating options and space to stand and talk. The food, which I would imagine is available outside of special events, was incredible. The sliders were awesome and I had enough to give this review. ha ha The bar options were also plentiful and the staff were great. I definitely will be back with friends and on my personal time to truly enjoy Maine Craft Distilling. I look forward to checking out the many options at the bar and hopefully on the menu. There seems to be some off street parking in the area, though a number of the spaces were marked for other businesses during normal business hours. Oooooh I liked it in here. If I ever opened a bar/restaurant/brewery, this is EXACTLY how I'd want to decorate it. It's rustic, but upscale, and somehow relaxed but you feel like you're in someone's barn - it's just so well decorated. Whoever came up with the idea of the little closed off wooded in room, to the violin and saw on the wall - kudos to you for making this truly unique. Stopped in here on a Sunday evening about an hour before they closed - it was quite clear some of the servers were not happy about new customers coming in, but the person who served us was quite friendly once we talked to her. They have a serious menu here - like, there's a liquor or mixed drink for everyone. I went with a $5 ginger/whiskey slushie, expecting it to be more slushie than booze - LOL I was wrong. It was super strong but super delicious and for $5 an absolute steal. My boyfriend got a whiskey mule and loved it. They have cornhole here, prices are pretty reasonable, and there's plenty of seating. Overall it's a relaxed and beautiful spot. You gotta check it out if you're into specialty drinks! read more

Good drinks, thanks to their own crafted spirits. Vibe was hopping, with folks watching the live music outside and a bachelorette party inside. But we sat at the bar and had a nice time, thanks to our super friendly bartender, who was busy experimenting. He was testing out something he heard, that Coors Banquet mixed with Disaronno tastes like Dr. Pepper. We got to be his taste-testers, and that's exactly what it tastes like. Great distillery, and I don't even drink! My boyfriend loved the blue shine and the staff was kind enough to provide complementary samples of whiskey. He ended up leaving with two types of gin and a bottle of whiskey. The food was very good! Veggie burger was definitely made on site and was very tasty. The french fries were great. Fish was fresh. Disclaimer: I didn't get enough of the food items at Maine Craft Distilling, just their drinks so take my review for what it is. This place is so conveniently located next to other great restaurants/drinking places. You could grab a sandwich at A&C, some oysters at The Shop, or a glass of kombucha down the road. I came here on a Tuesday during happy hour (during COVID, they offer happy hour from 1 to 4 pm). They have $5 alcoholic slushies during happy hour and $5 draft beers. Their normal priced slushies are $8 though, so they're not incredibly expensive and are pretty strong and sweet. There was only one waitress/cashier helping everyone, and she was really polite and nice. This place is also pretty safe as far as trying to prevent the spread of COVID, they have bottles of hardcore hand sanitizer at each table and tell you that you need to wear a facial mask whenever you're not seated at your table. And all of the tables are outdoors. They also have a separate booth if you want to order some of the canned alcohol that they make. I took home a four-pack of the Maine Mule and was glad that I did. Although if you prefer a less sweeter drink, then I would recommend maybe looking at the other options that they offer. Would definitely come back again! read more

MCD 2.0 is absolutely fantastic. Need four quick reasons why? 1. They have off-street parking. 2. Their (strong and flavorful) cocktails are $10 or less. 3. They have a patio. 4. The space itself is the epitome of Maine cool (think lots and lots of wood - it kind of feels like you're inside a hipster's log cabin [the bathroom handles are axes] in the forest that also happens to have an industrial vibe with it's cathedral ceiling, skylights, and Edison lightbulbs strung up). I like MCD more than I used to because of this updated location and space - not only does it fit them so much better, it also makes them so much more accessible. The spirits themselves are solid (try something before committing!) as are the craft cocktails across the board, so you won't be disappointed if you know what you like. It's important to note that they change their drink selection up, so don't fall in love with anything. I will say this: because they take such pride in their cocktails, every time I've come here it's taken ages for my drink to get made. The bartenders are very, very meticulous about measuring each and every ingredient out to perfection. Don't be surprised if - even on a slow night - it still takes 15 to 20 minutes to get your drink. What a gem I stumbled upon during my trip to Portland, Maine. Damariscotta oysters, whiskey, and live music made for an ideal Saturday. Oysters were only $1.00. I was thrilled to try seawood infused scotch cocktail here. I hadn't see this on a cocktail menu before: added a briny forward taste to this adorable fishing town. The spirit tasting was my personal favorite for a boozy day. Would recommend trying the Cannon Shit cinnamon flavored vodka. The outdoor seating area had wood fire pits for a cozy stay on this sunny yet cold day. read more

What a hidden gem! At least hidden from the street view while walking in. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon. It looked busy but it's a seat yourself situation and we took some chairs outside. The servers are very friendly and prompt. My friend and I each ordered a tasting flight. There's so many to choose from and it's quite affordable, so it's worth doing more. I just did the $3 one because there was a cocktail I wanted to try with the blueshine blueberry liquor and wanted to make sure I'd like it. It was delicious, as was the dry gin and spiced rum. I then ordered the blueshine lemonade. It was massive and because it was happy hour, only $3. Amazing find! read more

I can't even begin to describe how awesome this place is, granted it's outside seating, but they have gone to some pretty serious lengths to make it comfortable, from little heated huts, to picnic tables to fire pits. The service is awesome, every single person I have met there is awesome and after a dozen visits I think I met everyone and have had great chats with all. The food is ridiculous, it's so good I'm starting to think that they're putting something in it (just kidding). I live 40 minutes away, but it's worth the drive, I have had 99% of the menu and the attention to detail is just perfect. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

What a great place! At the moment Portland is under Stay at home orders due the Co-vid19 virus. I ventured over to Maine craft for some of their hand sanitizer they are making from their alcohol production. The parking is great plentiful and and clean. The entry being used at the moment is around the back of the building with a wrought iron gate. A really nice patio/garden area of outside enjoyment perhaps this summer? There was a pleasant young woman who greeted just inside the doorway. Behind the counter their products are on display, for full menu visit their stir or Yelp! Page. I LOVE all things Blueberry so to help support them further I purchased the Blueberry lemonade as well as the hand sanitizer which comes in a fifth bottle for $3! They also gave me a small purse sized hand sanitizer for free! ***Note: they only sell one bottle per customer of the hand sanitizer *** I am looking forward to stopping in one summer evening to enjoy their patio and Blueberry liquor! read more

We are ready looking for a place to be outside and not be too cold . We saw they had individual fire pits here which looked like a great plan, we were also able to bring the dog. Unfortunately all the pits were occupied so we went to a hut . The huts are a good idea some are decorated with twinkle light each has a picnic table . Sort of felt like being ice fishing without the ice. The menu was interesting with not a huge selection we got the fries with horseradish Mayo, the grilled cheese with fig and fontina, the seared tuna and the chicken wings. The Gilled cheese on sourdough was unusual but delicious it came with a generous portion of fries. We loved the bbq chicken wings bursting with flavor and cooked just right. The soup was shot and sour soup that got good review not to spicy. The fries were slightly disappointing, luckily we like them crispy as they were very crispy but they were barely warm. The tuna got a good review. We like the fried wontons and the presentation was beautiful, really colorful and extremely appealing. We we did not really do much beer drink just a Allagash white and some hot chocolates . We will go back it looked very nice inside. read more

(Food and service review). Had two visits. First was a five star experience. The second was a three star. Pros: the burger did not disappoint either visit. Really really good. First trip, we had a beef stew. Again really really good. Perfect winter experience. Server was awesome. Very on his game. PARKING!!! Use the lot right next door. It is a plus for sure. Cons: Second visit. No wait staff. Order at the bar. Run a tab or close out. Odd method but I understand the times are changing and help is hard to come by. I opted to close as I was only ordering lunch. Tipping before service is weird. I would have preferred to wait but this was the system in place. Tipped 20% for no real service at all. Food Cons: potato salad was way off. I know everyone has a recipe but this did not fit any of them. Also skip the pretzel app. $15 for pretzel bites. Not the best value or look. Skip it. MCD never disappoints and our most recent visit was great like every other one. I love the fact that any question I have in the distilling process can be answered while there by the staff. Quality cocktails, take away bottles and their shop are all great. Their prints for their different products are also unique and look great. The only decorations in our sunroom at home are eight of their prints that we love framed and hung. read more

I love their new location, even has parking! The inside is quite spacious and has beautiful tables, if only their was comfortable seating! Not a fan of the tiny uncushioned metal stools with no backs, after a few minutes of sitting you're forced to stand because your butt and back are aching. However, I am a fan of the house made liquor. The cocktails here are great. My favorites are the Tangled up in Blueshine and Maine Mule. You have to try the Blueshine, and you can for free because they'll let you sample anything for free. They are serving food here now, mostly snack/appetizer type food and I haven't tried any of it because it didn't really look good to me. This place has always been a pre-dinner spot for me. My last visit here I came with a group of 10+ friends, and I'll tell you the service was very slow because there was only 1 guy working the bar. When I wanted my second drink it took about 15 minutes to get his attention at the bar. I don't think that's the norm here though. read more

I have a small child with food allergies. I brought a small container of fruit for him to eat after we ordered some drinks. The server came over and berated us over having food out for him. Saying "this is a restaurant, you can't have food on the table it's a liability for us," then proceeded to roll *their* eyes. We were all taken aback at the tone in which we were scolded for giving snacks to a small child. We finished our drinks and didn't bother with dinner. Instead went next door for a great dinner, wonderful service, and a staff that said it would no problem for our son to eat his dinner with us. Certainly will not be back. read more

Do yourself a favor and don't underestimate what Maine Craft Distilling has to offer you. Their new location and restaurant far surpasses what it used to be. This has become a staple for me and my wife when we are looking for something without a wait, worth the price, a chill vibe and solid food. Every time we come here, we order the following items: 1. MCD burger 2. D.G. Wedge The last item is usually a basket of fries for $5, you can't beat that. Last time, we tried the tater tots, and we will not be ordering them again. As for the food, The MCD burger is a relatively small burger served with special sauce, pickles, onions and cheese. We always opt out of the onions. One thing I wish they'd change (but it doesn't change my review) is that they'd heat the bun before serving it. There is just something about getting a warm burger with a cold bun. Or is that just me? What you DO NOT want to miss: D.G. Wedge. Now let me tell you why.....The cornbread (croutons). The wedge comes fully in tact topped with tomatoes, ranch, brown sugar bacon, and the cornbread (croutons). After you cut it, you'll be dying to eat, did i say, cornbread? Sometimes I wish I could come here and ask for a bag of these to-go. They're that good! They do have happy hour specials with drinks and "bites" off their menu. I always appreciate places that make their own spirits and then come up with unique cocktails for their alcohol. Maine Craft Distilling is one of those places that really takes pride in what they produce, and it's exuded in their facility and offerings. Maine Craft Distilling is located on the East End in a really neat, and spacious facility. Throughout the distillery, there are modern light fixtures, wooden hightop tables, and antique-like pictures throughout the venue. The subtle touches, such as the axes as the door handles, make this place quirky, but fun and modern, which is something I really enjoyed. They also have a decent-sized parking lot, which is also a huge perk in a city where parking can be a rarity. As far as the offerings at Maine Craft, they provide a variety of cocktails made from their liquors, some food options, as well as some beer options. The cocktail list wasn't extensive, but there was a decent amount for everyone to find something they might like. My first drink was "Protector of the Realm", which was really floral and strong. I really enjoyed it. My second drink was called "Daily Dose" which I was not a fan of, however, every drink was made strong, and for the price, you can't go wrong. I also sampled a taste of their apple brandy which was smooth and good! I really enjoyed the new tasting room location! Ample parking, lots of space and a cool vibe. We went on a Saturday night and they were getting live music set up. I had a gin drink, which was a lot like a negroni. It was really tasty. They offer tours of the distillery but I didn't do it that time around. They also have a patio outside, which seems like it's going to be really great in the summer! We didn't try their food, which is new, but we saw someone eating the chicken and waffles and it looked delicious. We'll definitely be back!! read more
