Got a box as a gift, looks beater fresh and delicious, steamers the same! So much food in the box and everything was fresh!

This company blocks reviews from customers who have had a bad experience! I ordered a 4-6 pound Canadian lobster, and they sent a 3 lb lobster instead. It was also, incidentally, dead. I did everything they required, including explaining the situation and sending pictures, which they require that you do within 4 hours of receiving the items. No response for a few days, then, "your return has been resolved." Ok, but what about the courtesy of an apology for sending the wrong item? Then, a day or two later came an email with links to review the other items in my order, but not the live lobster (!). After reviewing one of these other items, I was then able to follow a link to review the lobster. I left an unhappy review, based on the poor customer service I had received. Then it gets worse! I just got a call from them saying that since they refunded the cost of the wrong lobster, I cannot leave a review for it! He said sending an underweight lobster was "human error," as if that makes it okay. It absolutely does not make it ok. He said that they basically just grab a lobster and throw it in the box if it looks about the right size (paraphrasing, here). The guy then asked if that answered all my questions, and I told him that, without a doubt, no. If this company is blocking reviews from customers who received the wrong item (dead or not), then that is very, very shady and is clearly being done to artificially inflate their star ratings. I would avoid this company at all costs because they do not care about honesty or integrity. I am a business owner and very careful when I write critical reviews, but I think this company deserves to hear the truth. read more

Horrible packaging of contents. I opened my package the moment it was delivered and the inside was warm (which when you buy seafood is not a good thing). I called customer service that moment, took video of the filet mignon "bonus" that came with it, which was completely thawed/warm to touch and bendable. Been a week and absolutely no response. I received my third 3 lb. lobster order from Maine Lobster Now, last week. My previous deliveries were excellent, thus the two stars. The last ordered lobsters arrived underweight, tasted bad, and were tough. The remnants in the pot were brown glop and smelled putrid. The meal was a complete expensive flop. I have tried to make contact with the company on three occasions, without the courtesy of a response. When I called, no one ever picked up the call - on hold with ocean sound and seagulls for 25 minutes! I sent images and filed a complaint. A few days after I called, but no one has responded! I ordered mussels and scallops from MaineLobsterNow for Valentine's Day. I paid an extra fee for delivery on a Saturday. The order never shipped and we ate leftovers for Valentine's dinner. What is worse was that there was no one available to give me information about my order until Monday morning. They canceled my order and said they were going to refund the money. Let's see if they can get that right. It looks like there are several other companies that can send fresh seafood to your door from Maine. I received a couple of lobster tails as a gift from my sister which were shipped to Texas. One of the tails was very nice and very good, however, the other tail was green and still had the organs intact. It was also much smaller than the other and was partially opened in the packaging. I contacted lobsternow and never received any kind of response. This is not a company I would recommend doing business with since their customer service was horrible and the product was 50% bad. read more

Except the order was wrong - I received 2 one pound packages of Lobster Claw and Knuckle meat, $20 lower price from what I ordered. They refunded the $20, but that is not the point. In 2020, I ordered 3 packages of frozen lobster meat from Maine Lobster Now at a value of $80 each. One of the 3 packages was received not vacuum sealed, with air in it, ice crystals all over the meat as well as freezer burn. I wasn't going to eat it in that condition. I contacted the company and requested a replacement. They refused to ship me a replacement, but offered me either a refund or a credit toward a future purchase of a greater value (with no conditions). I took the credit as I planned to order again. Unfortunately, COVID really hurt my small business and I wasn't financially in a position to order lobster meat. My birthday was this month and their lobster made happen to be on sale. I remembered I had a credit, but I was unable to log in to my account (you're not able to reset your own password) and requested help. I exchanged several emails with Samantha. I forwarded copies of the email exchange with customer service and proof of the credit. I heard nothing back for a couple days. I think they're hoping I would forget about it. But, I followed up and they claimed they "couldn't find" the account that they created for me. That was fishy- pun intended! After more emails, they finally located my account, but then proceeded to tell me that they changed their policy on credits over a year ago and any credit not used within a certain time frame would expire. I received no notification of this, which isn't surprising considering they couldn't even "find" my account even though it showed it was under the exact email address I told them it was. I asked for reinstatement of the credit multiple times. I was willing to give them another chance and this is money I was owed. Now they refuse to respond at all. I find it highly suspicious that first they couldn't locate my account and wouldn't even acknowledge the credit which I sent them proof of, then they had a mysterious "policy change" that rendered my credit expired even though I was never warned or notified about an expiration. This company has poor customer service at best and is frankly, deceptive at worst. I wish now I had just taken the refund 5 years ago. Do NOT order from these people! I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for shipping damaged product because mistakes can happen, but failing to honor a credit for that damaged product by claiming first that you can't find it, then claiming it expired with no notice is unacceptable. read more

We ordered a lovely lobster dinner from soup to nuts for my in-laws Years Eve. We have done this for 15 years, but this is our last. We were notified 24 hours that they couldn't deliver on time. We agreed to have it delivered the following week. My in-laws received a shipping with dead lobsters, open steamers and that's just the beginning. When my in-laws received their shipment, for their postponed dinner party it was hideous!! After many phone calls, the company only agreed to refund one half refund. ZERO STARS IS BETTER!!! We ordered 2 2-1/2 Fresh lobsters for New Years Eve dinner. They arrived on-time. We opened the box, and the Lobsters were almost dead! The next day when we went to cook them they could barely even response to touch. We cooked them as normal, and when we took off the first claw a TON of water came out... because there was very little meat left to them. They had been without food for so long they survived only on there own meat. They basically were starved to death! I have been cooking and eating lobster for 50 years. This is the WORST I have ever had or experienced! $150 wasted! Tails and claws had less than 1/2 the meat they should, and the little legs had so little we could not even get them out with a roller. Every year for either Christmas or New Years eve we ALWAYS do fresh Seafood. WE would have been better off going to the supermarket and getting frozen Lobster meat! Dear Consumer, 11/28/2025 On November 5th 2025 we placed an order with Main Lobster Now for 5 pounds of steamer clams and half a dozen 3 pound lobsters to be delivered the day before Thanksgiving. We had family flying in and were really looking forward to having them. We followed up with MLN a few days prior to Thanksgiving to confirm the order. We first tried to call but no one picked up so we sent an email on 11/25/2025 at 9:50 AM requesting conformation on the order and extra cold packs to ensure the shipment would arrive in good condition. We are on the West Coast and were concerned about extended delivery times and warm temps. At 9:55 AM we received confirmation that the email was received and the order was all set. On 11/25 we received a second email stating that our order #609949 for both the clams and lobsters had been picked up by the carrier and was on its way with a tracking number. So far, so good. On 11/26 at 11:41 AM California time UPS delivered one package which contained only the clams. We called MLN and spoke with Gin who said that the Lobsters had been "Miss Packed". In other words, not even packed for shipping. We were then transferred to the manager, Ricardo, who said nothing could be done but that he would contact UPS directly and find out if, by some chance, the second package made it out and would be arriving separately. Ricardo called my wife about 20 min later and stated that the second box containing the lobsters had in fact been delivered to our neighbors next door. He even referenced their blue front door and address. We immediately checked with the neighbor who did not receive the shipment. A video of the UPS driver was captured on our door cam confirming only a single MLN delivery to our address. The video also showed the UPS driver speeding away after delivering the clams and not going next door to deliver anything. At this time, my wife called UPS who confirmed only a single package, containing the clams, was delivered to our door. UPS also confirmed that there were no other packages from MLN delivered anywhere along our street. With my wife still on the phone with UPS, Ricardo called me and again stated that our neighbors had received the shipment of lobsters and again referenced the neighbors blue front door. I asked him three times if he was sure and his response each time was "YES" and that he had personally confirmed it with UPS. This was an outright lie and an attempt to either blame UPS or the neighbor. What I believe Ricardo had done was Google Street View our neighborhood to reference the neighbor's door to cover up his lies. UPS confirmed his deceit since there was no delivery record or image to corroborate Ricardo's claim. Ricardo repeatedly stated that he speaks for the owner and how the company holds to the highest standards of customer service and honesty. This statement couldn't be further from the truth. We understand that shipments can get lost and there are no guarantees on delivery but to outright lie about it is unacceptable. We strongly recommend you avoid this company. They completely ruined my holiday - sent me $500 in dead lobsters and refuse to respond to any communication. Their phone system is just a message voice mail they don't answer, Chat - is a bot... Support email is a black hole. They rip people off and don't respond. By far the worst company I've ever dealt with. This company is trash!!!! Read reviews from BBB and other online reviews. They are literally a 1-2 star rated company. My daughter gave me a gift certificate for my birthday. I ordered two lobsters and one arrived dead. The tail from one of them came completely apart after cooking and was disintegrated in the shell. The company refused to remedy the situation because I contacted them outside of their 4-hour window. I notified them as soon as I cooked the lobster and saw how the meat looked. I ordered the lobster roll kit for 6. Everything arrived on time and was well packaged. Problem was the lobster meat itself. It was like eating rubber it was that tough. As much as I regret devoting additional time to this, I feel compelled to share my experience with others so they can make informed decisions before purchasing from this company. I ordered two pounds of lobster to surprise my daughter, who was returning home from camp. The shipment was scheduled to arrive on Saturday by 12 PM. Before the package had even been picked up in Maine, with the heat index exceeding 100°F, I opted to redirect my package to a nearby location 3 miles from my residence to ensure the lobster remained cool in case I didn't retrieve it immediately from my doorstep. I frequently redirect packages containing wine shipmenor items I prefer not to leave unattended at my front door. Never before has redirecting a package to this facility resulted in a delay. The entire day Saturday, the tracking status displayed an expected arrival time of 12 PM noon on Saturday. - which was perfect! However, by 4:30 PM, I had yet to receive confirmation of delivery. I contacted my local UPS store who closed at 5 pm, and they informed me that they had received two packages, neither of which belonged to me. At this point, I realized I would have to wait until Monday to receive my package. I notified Main Lobster Now of the situation, and they instructed me to file a case on their website, which I did. I retrieved the lobster on Monday, and upon inspection, found that the internal temperature of the lobster had reached 82°F. I contacted Main Lobster Now again to inquire about a possible replacement or refund. They informed me that due to my decision to redirect the package, I was ineligible for either. I fail to understand why this situation was deemed my responsibility. As a result, I have incurred a loss of $170 + and did not receive the lobster. Upon further research, I discovered that Main Lobster Now has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau, with 19 unresolved complaints and a total of 24 complaints filed. This company appears to prioritize neither customer satisfaction nor quality service. Furthermore, the customer service representative I interacted with was condescending and unhelpful in the least. I highly recommend going with another company if you are craving lobster! read more

The worst customer service ever. I had lobster meat sent to me as a birthday gift. The packaging and info inside did not state whether the meat was pre-cooked or not. In reading the fine print on the vacuum-sealed package, it said, "Do not allow to defrost above 38 degrees prior to cooking." One would assume that means it must be cooked, right? Wrong. We cooked what had apparently already been precooked, and the lobster turned out tasteless and rubbery. The worst part: it is impossible to complain to the company. Their chat bot uses canned answers ("go to our website for cooking instructions."). Their website email form responds with the same canned answers. I finally got a 'human' email response, which then repeated the same canned answers, claiming I should have used their website prior to cooking (who consults a a corporate website to cook food? Even that wasn't mentioned on the packaging), and now 'consider the matter closed.' They simply do not want to deal with customers, even when a simple "pre-cooked" wording on the packaging would have changed the entire experience. But they don't care. read more

I have been a customer for a few years. I sent a gift to some friend's in NC. Although the order arrived on time (2 days before Helene), due to the hurricane, they lost everything including power. All of the order was lost due to no eclectic and refrigeration. I sent an e-mail requesting a discount to replace the order and I was told "Thank you for reaching out, and we are sorry to hear about your friends' situation but glad to know they are safe and sound. Bought 20 4-5 oz lobster tails, lobster bisque, crab cakes, clam chowder, shrimp and lobster mac and cheese. The lobster tails and bisque were excellent and far better than the stuff you you can get at local stores, Costco, etc. I would give both the lobster and lobster bisque a 5 out of 5. In contrast, the crab cakes, clam chowder, shrimp and lobster mac and cheese were ordinary at best and all rather tasteless (we served these as starters.). I would give these a 1-2 oout of 5. Bottom line ..... stick with lobster stuff they offer ..... the other stuff is not worth the price and if served together with the excellent lobster ..... deflates the quality and taste of the entire dinner. Gave them a shot twice, was not impressed either time. The first time I ordered two live lobsters among other items. They both not only arrived dead, but they were dismembered. They were in a very large cooler with the rest of my order (which included some heavy things like lemons and frozen soup). There was not extra packaging to protect them, so I'm just they just bounced around until they died and fell apart. They did give me a credit for the first order, so a few months later I placed a large ($200+) second order. My box arrived without a lid on the cooler and missing half of the items I ordered. It did not look tampered with. When I called, CS asked if I was sure that I counted the lobster tails correctly. They asked this even after I told them I was missing a package of lobster roll buns, a pound of clams, and a dozen oysters in addition to the 4 lobster tails (I ordered 12 and got 8). They reshipped the rest of my order, and it arrived ok. Several of the clams were smashed and had to be thrown out, and the oysters were tiny. I can go to a restaurant and pay $3 each for oysters, so I was expecting at least standard sized ones. read more

We ordered 16+ full lobsters for a family reunion dinner tightly choreographed with a wedding event the next day. Arrangements were made and confirmed with a very pleasant customer service rep to have the order delivered to an Airbnb we were renting. 5 families were involved in this event. Morning of our expected delivery there is a text message alert that our order has been delayed in shipping and will not arrive until the following day. That totally threw our plans for both days out of sync. I called the company first thing that morning and spoke with a customer service rep who plainly did not care in the least that our plans had been ruined. Devin was rude, unapologetic and had an attitude that should be removed from any kind of customer interaction. I told him to refund our entire order which he promptly did and I hung up with a very poor opinion of this business. But it doesn't end there. I'm not one to let a situation drop if I feel there is a lesson that can be had so I wrote a letter to the business owner and relayed our family's experience. I took the time to type out, articulate, print and stamp a letter and I NEVER received any kind of acknowledgement nor reply from the business. I can only advise that you steer clear of these folks and their seafood. I surprised my honeyl, this afternoon, with a big box of lobsters, clams & lobster bisque tonight. It's a great company, these lobsters are fresh caught, the clams are fresh dug, they make the delicious lobster bisque right there in Maine & then it's overnighted to your door. Time to cook it all up. Here's what I do, get a big pot and add water, sea salt, Old Bay seasoning & dash of Tony Chachere Cajun seasoning & bring my to boil. Then a couple medium sized peeled onions, several washed small potatoes & several pieces of chourico (Portuguese sausage) & in my case 4 small frozen niblet corn on the cob. Let that boils for 15 minutes then add 4 hot dogs & 2 pieces of link sausage. Boil for 7-10 minutes then dump in your clams & lobsters & cover. Cook for 5 minutes or until the clams are open & the lobster is bright red & everything is fully cooked. I divide it up & serve it with hot hard rolls, drawn butter & juice from the boil. OMG it's so darned good. BTW I just heated up the bisque & added some cracked pepper & we ate that during the longest boil period. Mmmm Maine Lobster Now is a terrific company that is very reasonable & they don't gouge you with inflated shipping fees. I got a 15 pound box overnight via UPS for $19, yep & I've seen other companies charge over $45, seriously?! My orders come in sturdy styrofoam boxes with multiple big freezer packs. All the shellfish are super fresh & as advertised & very well packed. They put your order in a thick solid styrofoam container with 2 or more big freezer packs so the overnight shipment arrives nice & cold. Every one of my 3 bags of and steamer clams arrived unopened (alive) and lobsters were very feisty. (sorry PETA) When I order late in the day or at night they usually have it packed & shipped by the time I have coffee in the mornings. Those folks in Maine are all about getting the job done. I have been all over Maine & traveling up the coast I have eaten on docks & tiny little lobster huts & this is as close as you can come to that. Ayup! Bottom line: I love, love, love the fresh Maine stuff I get for this place. I just ordered another big box for us and am surprising my daughter (Catherine H. - a newly minted Yelp elite) a big box. Horrible customer service. When everything goes as planned customer service is easy, when it doesn't, is when you find out an organizations commitment to their customers. Maine Lobster Now shipped a package without sufficient ice and the lobster was spoiled on arrival. Their failure to communicate and show any ownership in the problem was frustrating. They never offered solutions to fix the issue, even when I offered to meet them halfway. SHAMEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! My brother wanted some clam chowder and I decided to order from here. I was able to get free shipping with a $100 order, so ordered some lobster dip and lobster pot pies as well. The food arrived still frozen, yay! I received lobster mac and cheese instead of pot pies. I was disappointed but they were quick to resolve the issue when I called (I got a store credit). The mac and cheese was okay but overpriced for what you get. Plus the lobster was tough and I ended up picking it out. I personally wasn't a fan of the clam chowder but my brother loved it. The lobster dip was good, but again I think it's overpriced. It tasted like smoked pimento cheese. Really happy with our lobster dinner delivery. Since we couldn't go through with our trip to Maine for our wedding anniversary this year, we found Maine Lobster Now online and decided to try a delivery! The dinner included two lobsters, two crab cakes, clam chowder for two, two whoopie pies and even included bibs, cooking salt, butter, butter warmers, a lemon and instructions on cooking and eating the lobsters! Everything was delivered as scheduled, on the morning of our anniversary date. Packed perfectly and in freezer bags, it stayed really cold in the box for hours. I believe we spent around $100 (maybe a little bit more) including shipping/delivery, and it really made our third wedding anniversary so very special and unique. I ordered from "Top Maine Lobster" (the same address as Maine Lobster Now) on October 28. They are supposed to come from Maine. I tracked them and the orders are in Singapore. Kind of the long way around to get to Florida from Maine. Here it is November 13 and no Lobster or crab legs and, according to tracking they are still in Singapore. I don't think they are still frozen if indeed the company is real. I did find a phone number and I am sure that I will be told that it is not Maine Lobster Now. read more

You know the saying "Life sucks and then you ..." Noooo. It should be "Life sucks and then you do business with Maine Lobster Now". You would understand the depth of disappointment that life can offer. I LOVE lobster and have for more years than you can imagine. I ordered four 6-7 lobster tails for a special dinner for four people. Lobster tails arrived in a timely manner and in the proper condition. They were kept frozen until needed. When I was ready to prepare the dinner, I realized that I had received two tails that were 6-7 oz. and two that did not meet the criteria. Disappointed - Yes; but I wasn't going to make a complaint and just enjoy my dinner and my guests. My preferred method is to steam them. Three of the four tails were cooked perfectly, the fourth tail (one of the smaller ones) was what I can only describe as mush. Never saw anything like that. Has anyone else? Four people, three tails, I am screwed. I was able to stretch the remaining tails by preparing a lobster thermidor rather than just tails. At least I could fake it by adding some shrimp. I emailed them and ended the email with "Unless I can be convinced otherwise, I won't be ordering from your company in the future." Leaving the door open to purchase from them again, if they could rectify the blunder. To their credit Nicole from their Customer Support Team responded within an hour. I was duly impressed and expected a positive response. After apologizing profusely, I was offered a $70.00 store credit, and asked if this was acceptable. On the surface it seems like a reasonable offer. Until you really think about it. I responded that I would consider the matter closed if they would instead send me two 8-10 oz. tails. In my mind I'm thinking it's only a $15.00 difference that really wouldn't cost them very much, but it would keep a customer happy and insure repeat business. CRICKETS! NOTHING! NADA! NO RESPONSE! Remember, Nicole asked if the offer would be acceptable. She just couldn't deal with a "NO" response. I'll break it down. I spent $165.00 for the four tails. That included $40 in shipping costs ($125 + $40). The $70 offer would allow me to purchase two 3-4 oz. tails and pay for shipping AGAIN! ($30 + $40). I didn't consider that equitable. Would you?? Here's the bone we're throwing you - take it or leave it. I didn't receive the product I ordered, two of the tails were undersized, I had a ruined dinner because the tail disintegrated and turned to mush. I will never buy from Maine Lobster Now ever again and dissuade anyone who asks my opinion of their product and customer service. read more

As part of our Crystal Anniversary, we ordered food from the crystal cold waters of Maine (see what we did there?). Their items are fresh, never frozen. We ordered in July but requested delivery on 08/15. We got 2 lbs of the cooked lobster meat (tail and claw only), the special Lobster Roll rolls, a lb. of Maine's fresh churned butter and a fresh Maine blueberry pie, which we baked.
