my spouse and visited the restaurant 9/30/25. it was our first visit to this restaurant..we ordered onion rings, baked stuff lobster, and a boiled lobster. The onion rings came out first and they were OK but surely were not homemade. My wife's baked stuff lobster was served Luke warm at best. We sent it back and it returned a short while later with the manager telling us the temperature was 160 degrees. I guess he disputed us telling him if was not hot enough. The stuffing had very little crabmeat and the shrimp were cold, just laid on top of the lobster. The stuffing was very dry and had little flavor. My lobster and butter were Luke warm but I chose not to send it back. The lobster flavor was fine but hot butter would have enhanced the flavor. Our server was excellent and had a great personality. The lady taking orders was far more friendly than the waitstaff. Lobster was fine if not small portioned. Kept thinking I would have been better off doing it myself at home. Drive by other places advertising lower lobster prices. Plain cole slaw. Plain fries. Calamari looked like it came out of the frozen food bin at Market Basket. Tasted fine. Kids got a burger, chicken strips, and hotdog plates. Nothing to write home about. Whole shack was just that... a worn out tired shack. Bathrooms were clean if tired and forlorn. Tables were cleaned with cursory wipe of a damp towel. The outdoor seating looked newer/nicer but were closed because of rain. Better off making the trip to Portland. The good: Enjoyed a pound-and-half lobster with cole slaw and red potatoes. It was very good. My girlfriend had a huge rack of ribs that she couldn't finish (of course I did though). Also very tasty. Friendly wait staff and we were sat right away outside on a very pleasant night. The bad: Had to keep giving them our credit card when we ordered beers from the bar. Kind of awkward. So we were on the hunt for our first lobster roll in Maine. We chose here since the pictures of the food looked great. Seemed over priced but hey we are willing to pay more for great food. We got the lobster roll meal and cup of lobster bisque and clam chowder. The fries and coleslaw were great. The lobster roll was not tinder or seasoned and very small for the price. We tried a lobster roll at another location and we enjoyed it much more. The stars are because service was great and everyone was so friendly. We took our food to go since we wanted to try some other places but the inside was nice looking in case you wanted to eat inside. We moved to the neighborhood right as they closed at the end of the season so I've been waiting to try this place for a while. I got the broiled haddock and my boyfriend got the broiled scallops. Both were good, but my only complaint would be that they have amazing waffle fries but limited veggies-cole slaw or pickled beets. We also didn't get rolls as per the menu, but it's probably better that I skipped the extra carbs lol. Ordering was easy and the staff was super friendly. We were greeted by a woman who , we are unsure if her lack of personality was due to working short during a pandemic with miserable customers or just her personality. Luckily the server more than made up for this less than positive first impression. Not only was she friendly and accommodating, knowing we are from out of state, gave us many recommendations for things to do nearby.! The steamers were good. Lobster roll was delicious and full of flavor (a little pricy for the quality) but consistent with other restaurants in the area. The "clam cakes" weren't what we were used to (a formed ball-shape as we get in RI), but they were still good. Mudslides were weak, but tasty. The baked haddock was oily and flavorless. Love this funky lobster shack! Plenty of parking and the freshest tasting seafood I've had in years. This is a mom and pop, "DownEast Style" restaurant. Meaning guests order their food and drinks. We had a table of six, the food was great, after ordering and everyone but 1 person got their meal, we waited and the wrong dinner came out. who we thought was a manager came out and said we ordered one thing when we ordered something else and said we owe another $18 on that ticket. She continued to say that we were wrong and we owe the difference. We didn't want something for nothing, but she was really condescending and rude. Come to find out she was the owner. We paid the difference, but won't be back. Our server and the others on the floor were passionate about their job and cared for the customer. I feel like the only thing this place has going for it is the location and the kitschy interior of the shack. We ordered two lobster rolls for about 17$ each (jeez!) and they were the standard palm size rolls. You can probably customize it a little bit, but the lobster rolls came out with a giant dollop of mayonnaise on top. I don't mind mayo but I do prefer my lobster buttered over mayo'd. At least I had the option to scrape it off so I was happy about that. What I did forget to ask for was butter, but my friend liked their rolls so much she ordered a second with butter. It's too bad that she did because I would have left thinking my roll would have been better with the butter...but instead, it was the the most plain Jane of butters ever! Other places I've been, I would much rather be drinking the butter than eating the lobster, but here I wasn't so sure about that! It was just really disappointing :( I came here out of lack of other options. The line was long but it wasn't suuuuper long and the view really can't be beat. Pretty solid seafood shack in South Maine. The food was good although it's not cheap. The bisque and chowder were both very good. Stay away. This place is shady. We should have known to walk out when the place was empty at dinner, but we went in anyway. The cashier baited us with a lobster deal, and then the kitchen delivered lobsters clearly smaller than promised. My husband tried to discuss this with the manager, and the manager used language not appropriate for Yelp. My mouth felt like it was submerged in an orgasmic pool of voluptuous seafood. Terrible customer service! We like to eat where the locals eat , so we tried it. There was no line at 6:30- should've known. Servers were seasonal- no problem.. the gal that took our order was wonderful, downhill from there... Friend ordered his meal , asked if they had Whole belly clams, response was yes dear, you betcha. We got our meals he didn't , then his came out - clam cakes. We all looked at each other and said we'd never heard of clam cakes. He sends back meal and mentions he wanted the whole belly clams, kid was confused . Next thing you know the" OWNER"! Comes out and says " You are not getting whole belly clams" if you want those , it will be $18.50 more!" Now I've worked retail for 35 years and don't remember seeing that response in the playbook. She said she heard our friend order, not sorry , not we will make it right, nothing. Instead she mentioned repeatedly and loudly , at least 3-4 times that she needed the $18 . It was embarrassing all the people around us were gawking at us , like we were trying to rip them off , like we didn't just drop almost$300 By the way, the portions came out on salad plates. I haven't remembered ever being treated this way at ANY establishment before. Food was fine , only fine ambience was nice . Cannot believe the owner would say the girl put order in correct and he was wrong! Wouldn't you think she would understand a miscommunication , and try to fix it? My husband and I went for dinner last night and we were truly disappointed in the food! We ordered steamers and 2 boiled lobster dinner and a cup of chowder. Wish we took pictures my husband always does but he was so disgusted and couldn't wait to get out of there. I would've given zero stars but the waitress was the only saving grace for this place! Let me start with the girl at the order window, I was talking through thick plexiglass with a speaker mounted outside the window, she obviously didn't hear a word I said but got the food right because you can point to the pictures on the menu. I wanted a large steamers (got a small luckily) and the large 1 1/4 lb lobsters dinner. They were out of rolls, but apparently this doesn't count as a replacement item nor a discount on the meal price. We were supposed to get coleslaw with our meals that never arrived. I payed 2.50 more for an ear of corn that was the best part of meal, red boiled potatoes were diced like home fries and very bland, our lobster was so overcooked or maybe it was old, definitely not sweet and juicy like we get in New England, our steamers where so sandy I nearly broke a tooth on the second time they brought them out because first batch was inedible the sand was so bad. The waitress was sweet and said that's what the water is for like we don't know how to eat steamers (we're from RI!) she kept telling us they're right out of the water that's why so fresh and the sand is just as fresh! lol the chowder had 1 clam and mushed potatoes it was almost 10 dollars, I never use the crackers but this cup definitely needed them! We paid 86 dollars for the worst seafood dinner we have ever been presented in all of New England and they didn't even offer us a refund on the steamers. We left our waitress 8 dollars, she brings out your order after you place it yourself at the window and it was unfortunate she had to serve us this garbage and that's why we didn't leave our usual 20%. No offer of a refund on inedible food and we didn't even get everything that comes with our meals! I know it's been around for over 60 years, but the food shouldn't look or taste 60 years old! BTW it was an empty restaurant on a Friday night at 730pm should have read that huge FLAG! For the 20-ish years my parents have been taking me and my sister to OOB, it's been a tradition that at least one night of our usual week-long trip be the designated Lobster Night. My folks used to buy live 2-3 pounders at the local farm stand and a bushel or two of steamers, and we'd boil 'em up ourselves in the cottage. A few years ago, they finally threw in the towel and realized the convenience of not cooking, so the tradition was changed to dining out for Lobster Night. That way, the mess stays behind for someone else to deal with once we're all in buttery lobstery food comas. At the Lobster Claw, there's all types of lobster decor covering the walls, which adheres to the honky-tonk atmosphere you come to OOB to experience. Once you've made your way past the red & white striped lighthouse, you order and pay for your food & drink at the window, similar to how you would at an ice cream stand. You then seat yourself at the picnic tables outside or in, and wait for your feast to be delivered. The average plate is about $22, but they give you a ton of food (baked potato or fries, coleslaw or corn, cheap rolls of bread, warm drawn butter, etc. in addition to your main course) and it's all scrumptious! Leave a cash tip on the table and you're set to go home and nap for hours. I'd give it 5 stars, but I'll always be a sucker for eating lobster in the comfort of my own home in PJs. Dining out can get messy, despite the abundance of Wet-naps they give you. You're bound to splash at LEAST one drop of butter on yourself, so don't wear your finest garb! read more

We recently stopped in here on Labor Day weekend for a seafood meal. We drove by earlier in the day, and it looked promising. When we arrived, I was surprised that it is an order at the counter restaurant and was not a sit down w/ service. Well. its both. We ordered at the counter, and a waitress brings it over and checks in frequently. Thanks to Yelp.com, I ordered the famous "stuffed lobster" which was a fantastic choice, even at $20.00. Hubby got the fish and chips, and it was very fresh and a very hearty portion. Service was good. The dining area was a bit dirty and tired looking. The men's room hot water did not work.
