Visited 8/07/2016 Brunch Time. I give this place a 3 1/2 Star Rating for the one breakfast I've had here. The mixed drinks were tasty but could stand to be a bit stronger. Prices are average for a gastro pub. The French Toast was not to bad but a little over cooked. The eggs were cooked a perfect over easy. The sausage was not your typical breakfast sausage. Gust Ok. Swung by here after a game of badminton to celebrate Mr. W's birthday along with his close friend. They both ordered the special of the day, while I got a entree which I redeemed with the check in offer - Seared Ahi. Drinks - White Sangria, Mule, etc. I liked the White Sangria I got. Specials - if you want the special such as the Prime Rib which is a Saturday night thing - unfortunately you can't get it on Friday. That's the reason they are called specials I guess? Food - Garlic Fries - fried and garlicky - with sauces to boot (ketchup and ranch I believe) Seared Ahi, pretty tasty - light and just so good with the salad. Specials which they both ordered rare/medium-rare was pretty tasty. Though the first time around, it was way too cooked, and the waitress checking took it back in to get another one as requested. Tasted nice and tender (had a few bites). Was pretty secluded on a Friday night - there were groups of people/families, but not as crowded as I would have thought. Service was pretty quick. Appetizers are good, food was decent. I had the sea bass, it was okay. The husband had the jambalaya which I tasted and it was pretty authentic ,flavor wise ,but could of used some heat in the form of cayenne. I'm from New Orleans so I know my jambalaya. I will say most California places mess up the Cajun dishes but I would order the jambalaya here but just bring some smoked cayenne to my liking. Nice place. read more

Great decor and plenty of seating in bar area and dining areas. We had the prime rib special and the Blackened Ahi bowl. The prime rib was melt in your mouth delicious however it could have been a bit more on the rare side. The blackened ahi bowl was tasty but again, looked more like seared ahi rather than blackened. Still, no complaints on the taste of either dishes. Portions were pretty decent. Prices are a tad high but again, quality and serving size were both on par. Staff were pleasant and always on hand checking in on you! Plenty of parking in front and back. They offer plenty of daily food specials so be sure to stop in for a bite! read more

I've tried eating here multiple times and the food is just not good. The meatloaf is mushy, the mashed potatoes gooey. The fish n chips is overly breaded and the last time I had it it was cold as were the fries. The tomato for the burger wasn't even ripe and the lettuce wilted. Those fries were cold too. The mud pie was not traditional mud pie and just didn't taste that great. As I've said, I've tried multiple times to enjoy the food but nope. Won't be back. read more

This place is usually good and we enjoy coming here every 3 to 4 weeks. Today we came in for lunch at 12:30 with only three occupied tables. It took 27 minutes to get two tacos which came out ice cold, out of the fridge cold, absolutely unacceptable. My daughters chicken nuggets came out with some white grease on them, not sure what that was but it was disgusting and she wouldn't eat those either. The only thing that was decent was the drink. Not happy with the service today hopefully the manager sees this and the kitchen staff, and larger waitress, get an earful of now that it's unacceptable to serve cold tacos with slow service on empty place Not sure how soon I wanna come back here again... read more

YOU DISAPPIONT ME MAINSTREAM I actually really like this place...as a customer. I'm not a regular but have been coming here for years. and always recommend this place. I live down the street. I leave a good tip because it is deserved. They have good wait staff and bomb food. I honestly like this place.. which is why it is really disappoints me they treated me like this. I started doing uber eats on the weekend. I have never been treated so rudely. I walked into a bar that was NOT BUSY, stepped past the stools...at least 2 on each side of me...so not very busy the bartender( a short blonde) was making A drink...not drinks. A drink. ONE. After reading the uber eats notes. it says go to bar and tell the bartender you are from uber eats...the restaurant writes these notes mind you. I walked up to the bar and kindly said "hello I'm here for a UberEATS ord..." before I could finish she looks up like i just spit in her face, holds her finger up and says loudly annoyed "YOURE GONNA GIVE ME A MINUTE". well...I've been around. so I just chuckled and pushed further...nicely. "uh isn't this where i go to pick up the uber eats?" as I look around. she says snotty "yea!".. like duh. I guess I said "oh ok...so I talk to a bartender right?" she gave me the meanest look and said again pretty angry this time...YEA! and walks away to serve the drink and then goes into the kitchen. lol. So I see her go into the kitchen and as the doors are swinging shut I can see her point to me making out the words "make him wait". She's 10 feet from with the door swinging. Yes lady I can hear and see you. Mind you...I don't know wtf just happened or why this lady is so mad. So I put in a complaint with UberEATS. A older woman who looked as though she may be the manager was walking by. I told her "hey tell the kitchen I'm canceling the order"...she was surprised and said "hold on ill go get it." She go into the kitchen...and of course, the first lady with the attitude comes right out with my order. I give a nice loud "THANKS". not mean but aggressive. She seemed off put....I turned and as I got 3 steps from the door I hear loud banshee shriek "FUCK YOU!!" I just laughed and got on with my job. Not sure what I did wrong. Or why she was so snotty with me when I first came up and said I'm with UberEATS. I mean. I didn't cut any one. I wasn't mean. she was mixing one drink...one lol. did I break her concertation? I guess don't talk to bar tenders when they are tending bar???? shame. I like this place I live down the street. I cant believe they treated me that way. Ive been coming to Mainstream for 3 months. Looking for a local bar. Mainstream exceeds my expectations. The staff is friendly and interactive. Food is amazing. Get the mozzarella sticks ; you won't be disappointed. Honestly everything has been great. They have bands that are pretty good; pool tables and an outside patio!! They consistently miss items on orders and then tell you to call to ur delivery service for a credit..even after someone from their establishment admits they missed it on the order. Pros-they offer live music and the new dining area is really nice. Cons- it's as if you stepped into a bad Vegas lounge. The band plays to the bar and the dance floor is off to the side. I'm hoping they will make changes soon...but if not- maybe some less costly improvements. Consider removing the band platform, it's huge and awkward. Replace with something smaller, angled to the dance floor and double decked. Replace the booths leading into the dining areas with tables you can easily remove for an additional dance floor/ use for busy times. Change lights on dance floor to dim. Pool tables are always a great idea, but maybe one or both on the outside patio for those who don't want to bumped by dancers. Distributes the crowd more. Heaters keep it warm enough at night and creates an area for a more casual crowd...even for daily meals. Use the outdoor tables inside to replace outdated booths. I have eaten here twice, both times outside due to CV-19. I look forward to the day that I can sit inside. The servers were very nice. One complaint I have is that I asked for my beer to be brought to me when my meal is served to ensure that my beer was cold. I prefer to drink beer with my meal, but just have water before. Well, my beer was brought out very quickly & then the server hurried away to another customer. I should have asked them to take it back, but at other places, they just leave it on the counter and gets warm, so I did not ask that they take it back. OMG! Jon Taffer, where are you...? We need Bar Rescue! Gave it a try once again and it was just like a scene out of a Bar Rescue episode. Bartenders were talking it up with the regulars, one server for 10-20 tables. Other servers talking it up with the regulars... new customers like myself wondering when our next chance at a drink would come... band setting up for way too long... not sure how to explain the atmosphere. Sat there for two hours and was served two drinks each for a total of $30. Empty cups sitting on our table for 15-30 minutes. How is this place making money? Food doesn't look or smell that great... not sure about the 5 star ratings, maybe friends of the staff or band?? Looking forward to hearing the live band but couldn't stand hanging out any longer without another drink or some type of service. Sorry guys.. 4th time giving you a chance and I've been a Poway local for over 20 years. Time to make some changes. read more

My Wife and I have eaten here 3 times. The first time the food and service were good, enough to warrant a second visit for sure. Second visit, the service was not super good, they got my order wrong and we were kind of ignored the whole time. Personally my food didn't taste very good either but my Wife liked her food (she loves their country fried steak). If it were 100% up to me I wouldn't have gone back but I was convinced to give them another shot, so we went a Third time (big mistake). We got the order to go, when we arrived at the restaurant the place smelled strongly of chemicals/kind of skunky. It smelled bad but we paid for our food and took it home. The food itself smelled the same as the restaurant, and was so potent that it lingered in our house for over 8 hours even after taking the food out to the garbage. It was so potent that it literally haunted my dreams when sleeping. Never going here again, extremely sad. read more

Let me start by saying, Molly was a fabulous waitress! She said it was only her third day, and she was running off her feet! We went on a Saturday evening and it appeared she may have been responsible for the entire back area herself. She was still learning, but so friendly and had great customer service! Our only real complaint was with ordering drinks. We were told there were no drink menus, but she would be able to relay to us some beers that they had. We even had one of our party go to the bar to check, and he was told they did not have a drink menu. so strange as we had no idea of wines or beers that were on tap. We ended up just ordering house wines and draft beers as we didn't want her to have to spend her time running back and forth to the bar to let us know what beers, wines and mixed drinks were available. Beer/wine/cocktail list would be helpful! Our party had burgers, sandwiches and salads and everyone loved their choice. Mainstream has the best onion rings in town! Overall a good night, but drink menus would be helpful. And I know staffing issues are a problem everywhere, so can't count that against Mainstream. Loved that the stage was moved up closer to the bar and dining room in back, seems a better use of the space. The band that was playing sounded great and we're hoping to get back from some live music soon! read more

This place has the best mozzarella sticks you will ever have in your life hands down. Let me open with that! My family and I come here atleast twice a month. They always treat you like family. The staff is patient and kind with kids, the food is consistently good and affordable pricing. I always love the special treatment they give my daughter- always making time to chat with her. BAIT AND SWITCH. Went to the "Tequila Fuente" side of the restaurant. Tequila Fuente menu food decent, but we were lured there with a "Grand Opening Special" coupon. Went there on a Tuesday, ordered fish tacos right away while we looked over the menu (we were not there for their cheap "Taco Tuesday"). Placed order, including high-end tequila (completely aware that we would pay full price for the beverage), enjoyed the food, and at the end we were told that THE 20% OFF COUPON DID NOT APPLY BECAUSE WE HAD TACOS ON OUR ORDER. WHAT? Okay, simple: let us pay for the tacos, full price, separately. Answer: no, no-can-do any time there are any tacos on your order, you can't use the coupon. There is no such comment or even hint of such an exception on the coupon. "GRAND OPENING SPECIAL/20% Off/Your Next Meal/Beverages & taxes not included./Available Only in Tequila Fuente and Tequila Fuente Menu Items/Expires 9/30/21." Tell me WHERE it says, "tacos not included." We were in Tequila Fuente and we ordered off the Tequila Fuente menu. It's clearly a BAIT-and-SWITCH scam. The only person who could know that back-out-of-their-offer "rule" was the wait-person who emphatically declared it after-the-fact. NO CUSTOMER should have to suspect a scam and ask in advance if there are other exceptions besides what is specified on the coupon. read more

I left no tip because I figured that paying for the the extra beers was my tip. Horrible food. The queso was greasy and the cheese was separating. Sent it back once to get the same thing back. I come here about once a month with my wife for breakfast. The food is always hot and fresh when brought to our table and the portions are very good size for the money. This place definitely can get busy on game days but the waitstaff are always attentive and don't let he crowd slow them down. Additionally, the waitstaff is always very happy and friendly based on the interactions I've seen.
