Bragging of high marks when poor service remains uncorrected doesn't count for much. Imperfect people in professional trades know where the mistakes happen and prevent them in the first place. When mistakes do happen professionals correct the mistake even if it's at their expense. They don't sit at the keyboard and deflect and avoid responsibility while bragging of their high marks. Talk of what you might do does not equal making your customer whole again. Since it appears all I'll get is more talk instead of a refund to offset damages, my rating remains 1 and it would be 0 if it were a choice. Buyer beware - you have the most to loose. Ask for credentials and training before you let hacks in pro's clothes ruin your property and then watch them like a hawk. Inspect every detail and make them repair damage before you remit payment. Take pictures and document unrepaired damage for the inevitable debate that follows. In my case all I got after the fact is excuses, deflection, and more talk. If damage remains unresolved, don't forget about other ratings and small claims court. Better to pay a few dollars more and hire a trained and licensed professional the first time. read more

They came in said they have 3 different services to choose from the cheapest one was over 700.00 and went up to 1600.00 before tax. So we had him leave and i called spokane plunging and heating. In this busy time they still were able to fitted us in for the next morning. That is this morning. They charge by the hour. So they said they would pull the toilet and snake it and it wouldn't be more than 2 hours. It was one hour it cost us $200.00. Im so happy with there service. Its outstanding. They where clean and respectful did there job without a dispatch fee which was 79.00 with mainstream.We are seniors and don't have over $700.00 to 800.00 or more without being in debt. Had a completely wonky plumbing system under my kitchen sink and a busted pipe in the basement. It started with a clogged sink. The first technician could do nothing about it because of the creative plumbing the previous owners put under there including some 90 degree T's that their snake couldn't navigate. My own efforts to unclog it later from a spot in the basement resulted in a broken pipe which turned out to be completely corroded. So another guy came out and gave me an estimate on redoing the entire system from standardizing our sink plumbing to replacing our basement pipes. Some of the work he quoted was work I could do, so he removed that out of the estimate without trying to high pressure sell me on anything. A few day's later the technicians came out. I believe the main guy was Robert. They somehow managed to replace an entire pipeline that was situated behind a bunch of pantry shelves without having to cut, destroy or otherwise alter the shelving. They did it in just slightly less time than anticipated. That was several months ago and it all still works perfectly. They even came back once or twice when I called about a leak. They determined the leak came from the sink hoses which I claimed I could replace myself. I promptly did so and it did indeed fix that problem. They said I can call anytime in the next year if any problem arose from their work. read more

We called Mainstream as our newer A/C unit in our new home was making a rattling noise and cooling poorly. The technician informed us that our problem was that the A/C unit is a 5 ton and our furnace system is a 3 ton...apparently they need to match in size in order to work properly. He told us that we would need a new A/C and the cost would be 6-8k. We called in someone else for a second opinion and they were able to verify with a parts warehouse using the serial and model number that our furnace and A/C are both 5 ton units. Either the technician was incompetent or a liar. Needless to say, we chose the other company to handle our issue. read more

Technician was on time, professional and took care of the problem in 10 minutes! After he left I received a follow up call from Heather! I was shocked with the response I got on all accounts! I called Mainstream Electric to simply remove four existing 8' fluorescent light fixtures in the garage and to replace them with new LED fixtures I purchased. They scheduled me for the 19th. At 1050 Tuesday morning, I received a text from 1-866-411-9277 stating: "Hello, this is Jenn with Mainstream Electric. I wanted to give you an update on your appointment. We have you on the schedule to try and get a technician out there for you and know your time is valuable. So go about your day, and I will reach out 30 minutes prior to arrival. If they take longer than a few hours I will provide you with another update. If you have any questions feel free to contact us." At 3:30 I called to contact them and the person who answered took my information for a call back. A few minutes later I received a call and was told that it was now too late in the afternoon for them to do my work and that the next opening was next week. She blamed it on the wind storm damage throughout the area. I had to call for my update, only to find out I wasted an entire day waiting on their business. I wouldn't use Mainstream Electrical if they were the only electrical contractor in the state. They called it a "Flex Schedule". I have a different word for it........... read more

Be causious of this company. They wanted to charge me $69 for an electrical estimate and $79 for a central air estimate. Credited back if they did the work. Went with other companies that didn't charge for estimates. You get multiple phone calls and texts from different staff members that give you different information and don't know that you have talked to someone else in the company. read more

Never again! Saw their ad on TV to do a AC tuneup and then a furnace tuneup in the fall for $80. Called them up and they had someone out the next day to check it out. The person seemed professional, wore a mask and polite. He came up with a crazy list of items for repair on a system that seemed to be working fine though, such as the fan was pulling too many amps, the capacitor wasn't working right and it was low on Freon. He said the costs to replace the fan and capacitor would be about $2,700 and the Freon they couldn't top off, which meant we may want to consider replacing the entire unit for over $6,000 since it was so old. Asked for the info in writing, which he wouldn't do (first red flag), then when I questioned him about the Freon which i've had topped off for our commercial systems as work, he gave some dubious answers. I then paid another company that I've used in the past and know to be trustworthy to check the AC and verify the results. The Freon wasn't low and if it were, they would have topped it off right then. The amps on the fan were exactly where they should be and the capacitor functioning as expected. Furthermore the unit is only 10 years only, basically still hasn't another 10 years of life in it. I asked what would be the cost to do the repairs Mainstream was recommending. Around $500 with labor he said. Nowhere near the $2,700 Mainstream was trying to charge. I called Mainstream, and said I don't want them to come back again and I want a refund for the waste of time since they did nothing but make up false claims. Technician didn't even clean the fins on the AC unit. They were very apologetic, said they would handle it right away, i would get a call back and a refund. Nope. Nothing. Must just be the way they do business I guess. Never again will I work with Mainstream. read more

Avista informed that no paperwork had been filed even though I was told that Mainstream would handle all that. When I called they did send me information but it was for the wrong equipment. We recently moved into our house and had severe electric issues that needed to be taken care of. According to the technician who came out, it had to be fixed immediately or the house could burn down if the wires sparked. They quoted us a whopping $14k which is $6k more than anyone else to do the job, but we couldn't get anyone else to come out for at least 3 more months so we went ahead and went with mainstream. Not only the inspector require them to come back to fix an issue with the work, I had to take yet another day off for them to get it fixed. They never give you an estimated time, just whenever they feel like showing up and sometimes they don't show up and don't even call, waste of time especially if we had to call off work to be home. We also needed other things done like replacing our furnace and a/c. Was quoted $3k more for just the furnace when we went with a company who did great work in half the time, installed a furnace and a/c unit and poured a concrete slab for it all for $3k less than what mainstream was asking for (for half the job). They charge 4x as much for a simple duct cleaning ($1,000 for our tiny 900sq foot house with minimal registers) and 3x more to install wiring in our shop for a garage door opener. Every time we get bids, this company is always the most expensive and honestly, work was subpar/average at best. The inconvenience of the many times they've cancelled on us and didn't even contact (which they said they did but no calls and no voicemails) or wait to make it their last call of the day while we have to keep taking off work to work around THEIR schedule is atrocious. Nice people but a total rip off when lots of other companies could do just as good work for a lot less. Seems like they get emergency calls a lot which means that there is a really expensive job somewhere else that they'll make way more money from so they'll reschedule all the little jobs to accommodate because money is obviously more important than their customers. We had major clean up when they were done, left the place a mess. They honestly took advantage of the fact that it was an emergency call because if not, we never would've used them in the first place. All their reviews on the website are 5 star reviews but I should've looked on yelp first because we would've went another direction. It seems like a lot of other people here are saying that mainstream misdiagnosed their situation for a much more expensive fix, so who knows? Maybe we wasted $14,000 for nothing... read more

Not only was the repair completed in a timely and professional manner Mike answered and explained everything I asked in details anyone could understand. He also gave me options (4) with prices on upgrades that need to be done and he stressed safety more than anything (this work was part of a recent electrical fire repair). Super unreliable! Our ac unit went out in our rental right when summer decided to come in strong. We scheduled their soonest appointment (which was almost a week out), and my husband confirms 3 times the date and time, including the morning of to let them know he was there. Our appt was set for 9am, so my husband drives an hour to the house and waits. He calls again to confirm around 1030 that they were still coming as no one had shown up. At 12:30 (almost 4 HOURS past the appt!) they call MY cell phone to tell me that they "unfortunately don't have any available techs, and no available appointments until mid July".... What?! Okay- so the confirmed appointment is just for giggles? Do not use them if you have any hope of your appointment happening. From reading the reviews after I can really only be thankful they didn't show up- what a scam company! The president of the company doesn't seem to understand customer service either from her responses to her companies reviews! Doesn't matter where you're from- scammers gonna scam, and seems a lot of people think that being born and raised and raising their family as a part of the community means people will overlook all the shadiness they do. Our shower backed up on Sun. 12/22 & I called Mainstream on Monday morning 12/23. The soonest appointment was 12/24 between 11 am & 1 pm. On 12/24, twenty minutes before the appointment window was to begin, they called to say they were on a job that would last all day & couldn't get to me until 12/26 between 8-10 am. I asked why they wouldn't have known yesterday or first thing this morning that the job they were doing wouldn't be finished. To say I was unhappy would be an understatement. I ended up calling Roto Rooter. Although they were expensive; they were courteous & had someone to my house within the hour. The technician, Taylor, was prompt, courteous and had shower fixed within 20 minutes. I will never use Mainstream again. I guess you get what you pay for. read more

We were having water pressure issues and Mainstream Electric came out and diagnosed the problem for $99. They were very responsive and accurate in their diagnosis of the problem. The plumber was also friendly. My negative review is the result of the multiple bids they wrote up that ranged in price, giving us "options". They recommended that we replumb our entire home which is 23 years old ($22k). Their lowest bid ($8,500) included replacing nearly every valve in the house because they said the fixture valves may all fail under the pressure of flushing the lines. As the issue was not an emergency, we said we would like to get a second opinion prior to getting the work done. At that point they offered to lower the price of the "lowest" bid by over 20%. That was still very expensive and we wanted another opinion. The only work needing to be done was to replace the water softener and flush out only those fixtures impacted by low water pressure. We paid another plumbing company to replace the water softener. My husband did the fixture flushing himself in about 4 hours (no valves leaked - and why would they?). Total cost was under $2,200. I know someone else who had a better experience with this company, but we were extremely disappointed with our experience and feel the bids and suggestions presented were honestly shocking. read more

Service follow through is consistently not reliable. They no showed my first appointment to do a maintenance service on my two AC/Heat duel units. No phone call. Nothing. I called the next day. They apologized and rescheduled. That 2nd appointment went ok. Weeks later I called to set up a repair service. That appointment was yesterday. No show. But I did receive an apologetic phone call around 4pm. It was rescheduled for today. It's after 3pm. No show and no phone call yet so far. I've been warned they are the most expensive ac/heating/plumbing & electric company in town. Perhaps they should hire more staff in the field, improve telephone customer service procedures and follow through on their word. (That's a statement not a question.) read more

My furnace went out so I called mainstream to come out. The tech guy took out the tester and said he tested the circuit board and it was bad. 5 days later without heat part wasn't there. I called Banner and that day he was out. 5 mins after he got there we had heat. Definitely wasn't the circuit board. Thanks to the other guys for saving me money I didn't have to spend. *I CALLED STURM AND SAVED $29,833.33USD* I called Sturm out to my home to look at the unit the Mainstream person said it wasn't worth scrap. The tech (from his words) used to work for Mainstream and knew of their tactics. He fixed the issue within an hour for $171.67 USD. Please tell everyone possible do not use MAINSTREAM unless you own the company. I so want to call them back out here so that they can fire the rude tech that refused to do the recommended repairs. I had the fire dept, Avista, and Sturm come here and they all saw the situation as a easy fix OBTW: did I say Mainstream did an inspection of the same unit two months prior and found no issue? This company is the WORST! Fake good reviews submitted by friends in my opinion. A company this bad doesn't care about their community they are here to make money at any cost. Not one call from management to discuss my problem, no second tech to verify what the other guy said, and this is the kicker now that I have it fixed without buying a new AC unit or furnace. Sending a manager to my home to looking at the solution would provide an opportunity to train the employee or move him to something non customer facing. This company will do nothing with this review. Extremely overpriced and pushy. Called to get a quote on a new furnace. They came out and gave me a quote but were trying to get me to sign paper work to start the work before getting other companies opinions. Come to find out they were double other competitors in the area for the same equipment. When they did come out to look at the furnace, I was told that the furnace was leaking natural gas and that I would need to replace it before winter or my family would die due to breathing in the natural gas while we sleep. The three other companies that I had come out and look at our furnace told me they were wrong and said it is a common thing with Mainstream to do so they get more, overpriced business. Would not recommend if you want to pay a fair price and not get lied to. read more

They then call me and tell me that the guy that's supposed to come to my house wont be able to show up because he is stuck on another job. Why do you schedule work if your not sure you can get to it? I'm an average 38yr middle class male and Spokane native.. long story short - even if they seem nice, DONT TRUST MAINSTREAM. My 6yr old furnace stopped working, Kenny from Mainstream came out and told me it would be $3K to fix and parts were backordered for months, and I should replace the furnace. Same day Alex came out quoted me $8K+ for the lowest option furnace. Luckily had Banner Fuel come out for a second opinion, he blew out one hose and had it running within 5min. Will NEVER use Mainstream again for anything. Not sure if it's a quota they have to meet or a commission structure, but they are shady and I wouldn't trust a word they say. Sad. Come to find out, they charged us $11.5K for a $2500 job that wasn't even approved by the city inspector. After waiting two days for a call back, they finally returned the called and said that we had signed something so they weren't willing to help in anyway. I gave them one star not for their work which was great. We've had them do several electrical things for us and they did a great job. A little more than a year ago they installed a water heater and a Anti-scale Device that we were told would stop the rust looking water in our pipes. It did clear it up right after we bought it. We went south for the winter, when we returned it started all over again. I ran the hot water until all the hot water ran out and ran the cold water in several rooms all day but we are still experiencing the lightly colored water. I even cleaned the toilet bowls. A year later when I needed them come check out the equipment they install. I call and told them my problem and they said they would call set an appointment and get someone out to look it over. I waited a week for them to call me, finally I call again and that was at 2:00pm today and it is now 5:30 pm and still no call. We are both seniors and my Husband is a disabled Veteran. They have left us with the feeling that they just thought were old and they can take advantage of us. We paid over 5 thousand dollars for the project. BV read more

Their employee told them they needed a new 50 gallon tank and it would be $2100. He then tried to sell them a tankless heater for $4000. When they called to tell me we called a legitimate company. We had a major backup when hubby flushed the toilet, so I called Mainstream because I knew they had drain clearing special. They came out cleared from the cleanout to the alley. They said the pipe was broken between the house and the cleanout, due to they couldn't clean from the house to the cleanout and the camera stopped before the cleanout. They said the pip was likely broke and we would need a whole new pipe from the house to the alley. The cost would be over $8k. Well if they had done a cleaning from the cleanout in the house to the cleanout outside they would have cleaned out the root ball that blocked the pipe just before the cleanout! I went 3 months bailing buckets of shower and sewer water to the outside cleanout because Mainstream wanted me tonpay for a sewer line we didn't need! Will never call them again for anything! For whatever reason my review on Google isn't public so figured I'd try yelp. I had a "free" camera inspection done by Mainstream Electric on my main sewer line. After this service I was informed my only option to fix the problems found in my sewer line mainly roots would be to reconstruct the entire sewer line. I have never had any issues with my sewer lines, drains or toilets prior to this "free" inspection. Two days after the inspection my basement flooded and my toilets and showers stopped draining. I called Mainstream and they dispatched the following day a technician out to evaluate the situation whom had very little knowledge on plumbing. I was instructed to use as little water as possible and to not flush my toilets until they were able to come out and do sewer work a week later. I had an old water heater which I decided to get replaced with a new water heater from Mainstream as well. The men who installed my new water heater did a good job. However, this is where the company itself fails because its been 14 days and still no one has come out to inspect my new water heater. Mainstream is supposed to contact someone to come out and inspect their services which has not been done yet. Mainstreams employees tried to upsell me and told me certain parts of my house were not up to code and prioritized fixing these "properly" instead of prioritizing the job they were called out to perform. I've realized I've been scammed as Mainstream told me the only way to remove the roots in my sewer line would be by redoing my entire sewer line. I will add there was also a small area of my sewer line pipe missing which could of been repaired without having to reconstruct my entire sewer line. During day one of services performed they flushed my sewer line and literal feces were sticking to the ceiling of my downstairs bathroom. The drains in my sinks, toilets and showers in my upstairs and downstairs bathrooms exploded. The basement was not as bad, there was just sewer water all over the ground. The employees asked if I would "like to have them clean up their mess" which I obviously replied "yes" they informed me they did not have any cleaning supplies so they would have to go into town a 20 minute drive to go get some cleaning supplies. As they were gone I started the cleaning process myself because I couldn't stand the smell or mess. After returning from getting supplies they asked me again if I would like help cleaning and I replied "no thank you I got it" after already cleaning up 90 percent of the mess by the time of their return. They did clean up the basement before leaving to the best of their abilities. Before leaving on day one I asked the project manager when I could expect them the next day which he responded 7am. Come the next day, Mainstream did not arrive to my house until around 10am after I called the company. They did their remaining services, assured me the job was done and left without even testing any of my toilets or drains to assure that they did the job right. One of my toilets now didn't work at all after they "finished" their work which they never double checked. Come to find out while reconstructing my new sewer line they also blocked off where my toilet connected to the sewer line. I called Mainstream, they dispatched someone out to snake my toilet which obviously didn't work which left me with a detached toilet overnight and sewer fumes leading into my house. The next day they sent the original guys back out who did the job wrong in the first place to saw my toilets pipe in the basement and reroute its plumbing to the main sewer line. They "accidently" blocked off the toilets plumbing when reconstructing the new sewer line. They also were unaware that my toilet was detached and I had to ask them to call someone out to get my toilet reattached. Also now my downstairs sink does not want to drain anymore. With all this extra work needed after not doing the job right, my wife have to call out of work as well. To sum it all up my "free" camera inspection ended up totaling to over $20,000 and a barely functioning sink. read more

My normal plumber was unavailable & recommended Mainstream. I wish I would have read reviews first because my negative experience is exactly the same others have had. I was given options of "1) fixing the problem for $300 2) replacing the toilet for $700 or 3) replacing the toilet with an oval toilet for $800." Admittedly, I was rushed & wasn't able to clarify the options (I'm the homeowner so wasn't onsite meeting with the technician). After work was complete, the invoice states "replaced rusted bolt connecting tank to toilet & gasket." We're talking about $10 in parts & 40 minutes it took him to do the work!! Must be nice to charge $600/hr for your labor! I called to get a better explanation & was told this was all done for my benefit because their guaranteed quote means I don't get charged extra if it takes longer than they thought. Clearly this just means they make all their money with extremely high estimates. This should have cost $100 max. I know it. They know it. Everyone knows it. Yet they refuse to fix this. read more

They quote the customer a huge inflated estimate and say they can start immediately in hopes the customer is desperate enough to pay 3 times the normal amount to get the work done. The hook is they charge for estimates up front, if customer rejects the quote they still make $79 for 5 minute estimate. read more

They must have a huge overhead to deal with. I needed a repair on my water heater. They charged me $75+ just to do the estimate. The cost to repair plus fix a water input pipe began at $1,600+ then if I needed a new water conditioner installed that would be another $3,000. They supplied me with 6 quotes that ran from there up to $12,000+. They did not tell me my heater was still under warranty. After recovering from sticker shock I got the entire job with a new water conditioner and repaired water heater for well under $1,500. If I would have gone with their original price it could have been fixed in a day or to. When I called to discuss pricing my voice mail wasn't replied to for over 24 hours. These folks should be looked into by BBB or anyone else in that field who can protect consumers from predatory pricing. read more
