Was hungry for Asian but really haven't been searching for a new eat in or take out for a couple of years so I did a Yelp search and found Mai's this last weekend. I read several reviews about portions and price and flavors so i checked out their menu. Prices seemed really good as well so placed an order for their Drunken Noodles with pork, Veggie spring rolls and egg rolls and seafood stir fry. Well the Yelp prices were from pre covid days so way off to start. Not really surprised with that, as so much in pricing has changed, i wanted great flavor most of all- there I was disappointed: the spring rolls and egg rolls were just tasteless, really. The drunken noodles were ok but just seemed batch made and not hot and not fresh tasting. That left the stir fry and although a bit spicy, it was the only real winner. The restaurant was cute, comfortable looking although I just did take out, I'd go back to try their Pho as i saw a bowl on a table and it looked goood! But really, they need to take a lesson from Mylee's egg rolls or just stop selling theirs. read more

Came in on a whim. This lil eatery did not disappoint. We really went for it here. Stuffed chicken wing, spring roll, egg rolls, Crab Rangoon, combination Pho, and Pad Thai +Chiken. It was all very delicious. The sitting area was clean and comfortable. I can tell that the secrete is out on this place because the cashier was moving and shaking. but no one was impatient because it's worth a little standing time. While in the area I drove past this place that states above the door, best stuffed chicken wings so I filed it away so I could come back for lunch and how I spotted it from the street is beyond me. The place is on a dedicated right turn only street with the tiniest parking lot so I had to wait for a car to leave because I really wanted to dine in and not do take out. There was a small wait for a table because the place is tiny/narrow with maybe eight small tables all in service with two that just opened up but not cleaned, I will wait for one. The place is obviously very popular because of the range of ethnicity's and ages, half asians by the way with non stop take out in the waiting room and the full restaurant room with phones ringing. This is the soup nazi style, walk in and read the menu on the wall, move to the register and order/pay, move to a table or back to the front waiting area for take out. The menu is small with apps, noodle bowls, curry bowls, rice dishes and stir frys. I opted for the stuffed wing and requested one that just came from the kitchen and put in the hot case. I also went against my norm and had a spicy green curry bowl with beef that comes with a side of sticky rice. I will be honest and say that I have had stuffed wings maybe twice in my life and thought that they were ok but this was the best one that I have had. It comes with a sweet sauce and a spicy sauce and the spicy was the winner. The stuffed wing was very hot with crispy skin and super moist/tender meat and filling, man was this fuc%#ng good and I should have just ordered five of them and skipped the green curry. The green curry with beef was good but the stuffed wing was the clear winner here. The spicy green curry was not that spicy compared to the spicy sauce for the wing but it was on the sweet side and it was silky/smooth/creamy/milky with mushrooms, thin sliced beef, bamboo shoots and egg plant. I threw in some of the perfect sticky rice for some extra texture which worked well. The menu is small and limited but my lunch was very good so the limited options on the menu are done well. THIS IS A MUST STOP FOR STUFFED CHICKEN WINGS and I'm glad I stopped. read more

This time we decided to try The red chili curry with chicken and shrimp and noodles, In some appetizers including stuffed chicken wings a girls and crab rangoon. We found that the service was superb and the food was excellent just like last time. I seriously wish Stop these restaurant owners would consider opening another location up in Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin where we live!. On the surface it looks like a dive. Walking in I was a tad concerned. Dark, the new card machine was down so it was a cash only situation. Known for its stuffed chicken wings, folks in line highly recommended them so I ordered two with Chicken Pad Thai. When asked whether I wanted it mild, medium or spicy I said medium. The stuffed wings were interesting. Filled with noodles and cabbage, the skin seasoning was good, with just enough chicken to add nice flavor. It's crispy outside provided a nice contrast to the noodle we innards making it an enjoyable appetizer. The Chicken Pad Thai was tasty. Although the noodles were a tad sticky, they were generous with the cashews as well as the sauce. The only challenge I had was ordering it with the "medium "heat. My hint should have been when the gentleman taking the order told me that it was "Asian spicy". I like my Pad Thai with a little heat; this was flaming. Despite that, it was still quite delicious. This indeed is a rare find - a small establishment in a small community meeting the needs of a community desiring authentic Asian cuisine. read more

They are habitually consistent on all fronts: food quality and taste, customer service, time to prepare order, and price. I've ordered food here countless times and not once have I been disappointed. I've never had a bad meal or menu item, had an item wrong or missing, or had any type of customization or special request not followed thru with. I've never been treated in any way other than pleasantly and respectfully. I've also never had to wait for my food. It is always ready exactly when they say it will be. Both of the top-rated restaurants in the area were closed for vacation, so I decided to take a risk and try some Asian food in this small Midwestern town. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't anything to write home about either. It's a tiny little place at the edge of the main drag that does a brisk takeout business and has fewer than 10 tables for people who want to dine in. Order at the register and then seat yourself. The Thai iced tea was good. The egg roll and crab rangoon were both tasty but greasy. The rangoon had way too much wrapper and not enough filling for my taste. Since it was a hot day, I ordered the vermicelli salad because I normally love bun. This was a fairly close replica but not the same. The noodles were overcooked, they used iceberg lettuce instead of romaine, the chicken though tasty was way too salty, and the accompanying sauce was like straight-up fish sauce - not what I'm accustomed to getting. It's possible that their pho and Thai dishes are better. You could tell that the staff were working hard and that they cared about what their customers thought. The prices were great, too - I only paid about $12 for my entire dinner including tip and tax. I'd be willing to give this place another try but I wouldn't be chomping at the bit to come back. read more

Front line worker was friendly and helpful. We ordered the basil fried rice and pad Thai chicken. A bit pricier than other similar restaurants having identical items. I was a bit turned off by the owner or boss sitting in the back dark corner talking loud on the phone while the others were working hard on getting the orders put together for a back up of customers. This is my comfort zone and I have visited this place numerous times only for one dish - Stuffed chicken wings I have had it hot at the restaurant, packed it to have it at home and on the way to theatre in the car. The stuffing in the wings is noodles and meat which is perfectly covered with the chicken. This is the kind of food which makes me smile. The spicy sauce is one of the best sauce I have ever tasted. The menu is short but perfect. Enjoy the egg rolls too. They are great and so are the various curries. The portions are good considering the pricing at the place. It is not a fine dining restaurant. Visited Mai's for dinner after hearing numerous locals raving about their food, specifically the pad thai. We started with 2 stuffed chicken wings and spring rolls. The wings are huge and really good. The spring rolls are huge and for me these could fill me up. We ordered the red curry and pad thai. For 2 people, we had enough leftovers for another meal. Portions are very generous. Service is good and the place filled up quickly for dinner. My partner loves pad thai and really enjoyed this one. For me the curry could have had a little more flavor, but the choice of vegetables were good- thai eggplant, mushrooms, and bamboo. Wish there were some carrot in there.
