Really bad customer service from the main woman who seems to be in charge. The other woman/hostess was very friendly though. I had tried calling in an order so I can pick up some pad thai after work, but could not get through. Called several times for 2 days and no answer. I came in and the restaurant really was not very busy. I asked if the phone was not working and she said "I am the phone person. And the bar tender. And everything else. And I cant do everything at once." I said ok and that id like to place a to go order. She was pretty flustered by this asking me abrupt "for how many dishes?? Its going to be a long time!" She very politely greeted and seated people coming in after me. I said "would it be different if I ate here?" She said "there are no short cuts! How many dishes do you want? Its at least an hour!" Great place. Good ambience. Modern and clean venue. Love the tasters they bring out when you come in to help people are not familiar with the cuisine understand the basic broths. They even bring out warm towels to clean your hands and face with! Dishes are huge. From soup to appetizer to main courses, portions were plenty. If anything the side order of rice was minuscule for the amount you pay for it. All the food tasted very good. We got several different plates and the only critique is the salt and pepper shrimp was very soggy. Traditionally it should be crunchy. Otherwise cannot complain. Do plan to be back. I literally am so thankful for this place being so close by! Atmosphere: Nicely decorated and clean, including the bathrooms. Seating is spread out but it still gets quite noisy in here. I love how they give you steamed towels to clean your hands when you sit down! Food: Just YUM. I have ordered at least 7 items off the menu and all of them have been a dream. My mouth is watering just thinking about the food here. They give you a free sample of three different broths when you come to the table and I could drink a gallon of each. The Yelp description at the top of this page does not do Thai Ginger Bistro justice by saying g it is in a strip mall. True, there are three or four businesses adjacent to it, but the restaurant's serene interior conveys much more atmosphere than the term "strip mall" implies. The service is excellent. The menu is extensive and leads to amazing meals. Don't miss the Thai coffee or tea, which are served elegantly in tall glasses. It was lunchtime, so we brought friends from out of state to enjoy some Thai cuisine. Both my wife and my friend's wife (both Thai and excellent Thai cooks) said their expectations were met. We each had different menu items. Even though the wait staff was a bit challenged with the almost full house, the wait time was not too bad. And, given we spent several weeks exploring Thailand just six months ago and have tasted from the Grail, we have very high expectations. Even our forays into Chicago have been hit or miss. Forget Madison or Milwaukee for Thai. This is it. The green curry had flavor sorely missing from the typical blandness one usually gets. I got the the red curry and it was absolutely fabulous and the portion size was generous. Entrees I saw ranged in price from $13-$20 with most being ~$18. For the quality of food and the experience, I think this is a more than fair price. I'd even dare to call it a good deal. The restaurant itself seems to specialize in their soups as they give you a sample of their three available soup bases prior to ordering. They were all excellent and I would recommend trying the soup though I didn't get the chance to. The server also asked if we had any allergies as we were ordering which is just a polite policy. We get together with friends every year on January 4. I call 4 weeks ahead to make a reservation, I said my name 10 people 5:30on that date, the owner said ok. Then she called on Dec. 23 or around there and said she had to change my reservation because they were closed on December 24. I reminded she who I was and that my reservation was on the 4. I then talked to her 3 more times after that including 4:00 the night before. She even repeated it to me. We got there the next night. And they said I didn't have a reservation. I tried to talk to the owner who I talked to all 4 times and she would not talk to me. The hostess was very nice and tried to talk to her, and she wouldn't talk to her either. So we were lucky that we got 10 people in at p.f. Chang, they were great. I just feel that's no way to run a business. She just lost 10 customers. read more

There are a few things that could make this restaurant better. First, it's pretty nice and open inside and the staff is friendly. The prices for pretty much everything is a little high. I'd say everything is about $1-$2 higher than expected, all things considered. The portion sizes aren't any bigger than similar restaurants. I ordered the steak salad ($18), pad thai ($14), green curry ($15), crab ragoons (4 for $8) and summer rolls (4 pieces, not rolls, $8). I was instantly annoyed when I got home to find out I didn't get 4 summer rolls, but 2 that were cut until 4 pieces. I felt cheated and misrepresented, especially since it cost $8. The green curry (more like beige in color) was really good. The pad thai was ok. The crab rangoons were soggy from the start and just ok. Their sweet and sour sauce had a strong ginger taste to it. The summer rolls were standard. The steak salad was pretty good but hard to justify at $18 in my opinion. I know some people are concerned about COVID, but I'm really not; however, it is worth noting that the staff member I interacted with wore a mask on her chin only the whole time I paid and got my food... the whole time. It never covered her mouth or nose at all... if that matters to you. She was friendly though. I'm not sure I'll be going back any time soon. There are so many great restaurants in the area to choose from. If the prices came down, I'd recommend it, but for now, the best thai food around here is Bangkok in Oshkosh. read more

Amazing food and service! I was very surprised walking into this place. It didn't look like much from the outside, and it was very empty on the inside, but upon walking in, I was immediately seated and given a warm towel + 3 delicious soup samples. Talk about classy! I had the Lychee Duck, which was a little expensive but well worth it. Definitely one of the best and most unique dishes that I've ever had and it made my day. I have so many great things to say about my experience tonight! The health protocols, including ample spacing between tables and clean feeling overall, made us feel comfortable dining in. Their kitchen was well-lit, immaculate, and FULL of fresh veggies. The chef said their veggies are mostly locally grown and he tries hard to provide as many fresh ingredients as possible. Shortly after being seated we were served water and sampling's of three soups. All were amazing! Their menu is extremely detailed, so if you don't like something (like fish sauce, for example), you know to order something else. I also wanted to try about twenty different dishes because the combination of ingredients got me so excited. We ended up with chicken satay, a soup (#10), veggies with peanut sauce, and a orange chicken type dish. The chicken satay was good, but the entrees were beyond flavorful.
