I have never been compelled to write a negative review about a business, but I feel that its important to let people know what a corrupted business establishment this is. I spent $6,900 for a white outdoor sectional, which bled glue and had pink spots throughout. After a fierce battle - Maison Bertet acknowledged that the problem was in the furniture, and after fighting over freight charges finally agreed to replace the furniture at no cost. Within 6 months, the pink spots had reappeared throughout my white furniture, at which point, Sophie the owner refused to speak with me, look at their defective furniture, or replace it in any way. My experience with Rhonda was very good. Her advice for my patio furniture, color, & size was on point. The quality of my patio furniture was AMAZING b/c my house was surrounded by fire & flying embers. I thought for sure my house was going down due to the patio furniture catching on fire & it didn't. Instead the embers melted holes right through the entire sectional and covers but it didn't burst into flame. Even the FD said if my yard caught on fire GAME OVER. Maison Bertet offers the absolute WORST Customer Service I have ever experienced! I have furnished an entire house at this point and my furniture has always arrived in the time frame I was promised. I have now been given 4 different delivery dates (each one I re-arranged my schedule to accommodate) and I still don't have my patio furniture. The owner has zero integrity and I think the warehouse and the salesgirls work together to give their customers the run around. If and when I ever receive my furniture (it's 3 weeks late at this point and I've lost most of the summer!), I will tell all my friends that the company I purchased my furniture from is out of business. As beautiful as I think the couch may turn out to be, the service after you've given them your money makes the store unbearable to work with! If you choose to buy from this store anyhow, as they do have beautiful furniture, DO NOT PAY in full, up front. The sales and design team was great. Marissa in the El segundo shop was a huge help. I can't say enough about that experience. However, it's been about 2 months since I placed my patio furniture order and I'm still getting the run around. Initially I was told the set was damaged in shipping, then it was on back order, then it was lost and would be re-ordered. Now I'm being told its in the warehouse and to schedule delivery with them but no one has the warehouse ph# and no one calls back with the necessary info. I had my entire house painted and kitchen redone in the time frame its taken to not deliver the furniture, what a complete disaster. Bottom line, good with design and decoration...DON'T order any furniture from them. Horrible customer service when it comes to shipping and delivery. read more

But let's assume that it is the person I met responding to this review (and not Sophie, his wife)......Joel, you were cc'd on numerous emails sent to your wife and Rhonda for which you chose to ignore ALL of them. You did NOTHING to help rectify the problem. I was told that you, Joel, have no say in anything pertaining to the store, that Sophie is the one that makes all the decisions...which is totally in line with my experience. Your staff is not the problem, their hands are tied, you and your wife are the problem. I also was never rude to your staff.....now your condescending wife is another story. Furthermore, it is completely untrue that my contractor (which you are not) broke the vanity and the faucet. As I stated, they were more than qualified to install a vanity and faucet...what a joke. Yes I did expect your company to fix the vanity and refund me for the faucet, since I was forced to buy a better quality faucet. Ultimately, months later (after I posted my original review) your staff made good on repairing the vanity...probably without your knowledge since it was handled after I made a visit to your store while Rhonda was the only one working. I think I'm pretty fair with my reviews...more than half are 3 stars and above. I feel like it is my duty to let people know of my experience and it's up to them to decide if they'd like to risk purchasing from your store. I do see from Yelp page that there are quite a few negative reviews from other patrons of your store...so obviously I'm not alone in my negative experience. It would have been so easy to prevent all of this; Immediately send someone to fix the drawers and refund me the cost of the crap $300 faucet. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful when I first came in the store. They had great ideas on what I wanted to do with my outdoor patio. After taking my order.. unfortunately it ends right there.. I don't think they know what customer service is all about. I was informed that it will take no more that a week or two to get all the items I ordered. After 3 emails and 4 calls after a 2 week period, I finally got a response from someone who just got back from a vacation to let me know that they are still waiting for the fabric to make some of the items I needed. I really do not understand how a company expects to get any repeat customers or referrals with this kind of lack of attention and concern with their clients needs. The furniture was completed very quickly ( 4 weeks ) and was so beautiful, modern yet classic and comfortable at the same time! My VIP client ( who is in the entertainment business) was ecstatic. However, the true test of their service was when we discovered there was some damage done by the movers and with one call to Rhonda at Maison Bertet, they had someone out there the next day to repair it on site for a very nominal cost! We custom ordered a sofa and chose the Sunbrella fabric that works wonders if you have kids. This wonderful fabric doesn't hold stains, so I am not scared of my kids jumping or messing up my sofas. Be careful of the quality here. We bought two outside tiled tables from them and within ONE summer the tables (both) had totally buckled from the caulk. They agreed to fix them but when we got them back the first time, they were super sloppy. Then it literally took OVER A YEAR to get them back and when i finally tracked them down, the white caulk was replaced with a dirty grey color. Looks terrible. Terrible customer service. Fool me once shame on YOU fool me twice shame on me! I ordered the matching cabinets that go with the floating vanity back in July. The ones that were in stock were scratched up. I was willing to wait the 4 months I was told it they would be restocked. I was told that they were in the first week in September, I go by the store "sorry they are still on the docks" was what I was told. The following week "they are still in customs". I waited until I finally got the call to come pick them up. I went this past weekend and the sales associate was so proud of herself that the cabinets were in. Will sorry to say that they were the wrong color. I told her that I did not order white and that I ordered Espresso and not white. I was than asked "are you sure"?! I think I know what I ordered, yes I told her that I ordered the Espresso and not white. She than looked up the order and found out that I indeed order the Espresso. She than blames the girl at the warehouse for the mistake. I was than told that there are plenty of Espresso's in the warehouse. I was told since I drove all the way to the store that they would deliver the cabinets to my office. I get a call yesterday (Monday) asking for my address from the woman at the warehouse. She threw the sales associate under the bus and stated she was never given the info (she lied). I gave her the info and today I realized that I didn't have the boxes. Called security at my office and was told that nothing was dropped off for me. I call the sales associate and was told she was with a customer. I than call the girl back from the warehouse. She informs me that the sales associate should have called me this morning to inform me that ALL the cabinets are the wrong color and that there are NO espresso colored cabinets. I finally call back to the store and the sales associate tells me that they will send me a refund check. Very cut and dry. The disappointing thing about this store is that everyone throws each other under the bus, customer service sucks ass and that NO one takes responsibilities for their actions. The customer service lacks big time. Bottom line, "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me". Just be warned that you will spend some money here and will not get the customer service you expect too at this store. I am mentally drain from dealing with them and I will never make another purchase from them again. I am done and throwing the "mic" down, Totally disappointed that I wasted several months waiting for something that does not exist. I just read some of the posts here, so mine is going to seem redundant, as the lack of integrity at this place appears to be a recurring theme, but here it goes anyway. Lots of places in town sell garbage. If you want to pay a lot for it, come here. But really, that's the store owners' prerogative. I don't blame them - a business charges what it can get. What I do blame them for, however, is being crooked. 1. They offered a designer discount, which was indicated on the invoice, but oddly failed to make its way to my credit card statement! 2. When I showed them photos of a white tile that they had carried, they explained they had something similar called "White and Clear" at their warehouse. I paid them, picked up the box of tiles several days later, took it home and discovered that the tiles were actually blue! Fine - mistakes happen. But when it came time for a refund, it was less a 20% re-stocking fee! They sold me blue tiles that they had represented as being pure white (even the name implies it), and they had the nerve to charge a re-stocking fee??? Check out what the owner wrote in her email to me (yes in all caps): WE ALREADY WHERE SUPER COOL TO REFUND YOU BUT THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO FOR THE 20 PERCENT RESTOCKING HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND SOPHIE Really Sophie? Sales and design help were great when we were buying, but the patio set we bought fell apart... literally disintegrated... in less than one year, and then the problems started. The set was delivered in November, 2010; by July, 2011 it was a disaster. We took a picture, sent it to the store, visited with the owner and were told the set would be replaced. Whew! As time came for the replacement set to be sent, our phone calls weren't answered and messages weren't responded to. Several times, we were told the set fell apart because we left it out on our patio in the heat and sun. This was an outdoor patio set for heaven's sake!!! What were we expected to do? When we were buying the set, we asked if it would hold up in Palm Desert, and were told that the Eternity set was their #1 seller, and that it was used for commercial (i.e., hotel) use. No problem. Well, it was a BIG problem. Next step: we were asked to pay $700 plus shipping to have the lounge replaced. Our idea was to pay -0- for an entire replacement set as the whole thing had disintegrated; most of the pieces that fell off were less than 1/2" long. The set was a sorry sight; imagine a piece of fruit left out for months: ripped, dried out, ugly, pieces falling off. Next step: more ... many more.. of our calls went unanswered. Finally, when we said they could either talk to us or to our lawyer, we got a call offering replacement with a new canopy - a feature that hadn't been available when we bought the set - for $400 plus shipping. (The full retail up-charge for the canopy was $300, but for some reason the price to us was $400.) We weren't up for spending $hundreds more with no assurance the set would hold up, and there was absolutely no assurance it would hold up. We wanted a 1:1 replacement pure-and-simple. The customer service person offered to have a replacement delivered for $100 as our delivery could be piggy-backed on another delivery. To make a long and painful story shorter, Maison Bertet insisted on a release saying a replacement would be provided only if we would agree that we could make no further claim for warranty. This annoyed us no end, but we said 'yes' so we can't complain too much on this score. We felt we were being held up. For the literally 30-plus phone calls that went unanswered even in some cases when specific time frames for response were proposed by Maison Bertet people, for the failure to live up to the initial commitment to replace the unit quickly and easily, and most of all for trying to blame us for expecting an outdoor patio set to last more than 9 months when used as an outdoor patio set, we would if we could give minus a few stars as a rating if we could. We would happily have settled for less sales service and more real customer service. The replacement came this morning. I wonder if the other delivery in our area was also for a set that fell apart! read more

I went in this store looking for a nice patio set and left disappointed. Not only was the service sub par, but the selection seemed cheap. The staff made me feel like they didn't want my business and I wasn't worth their time. Maybe I'm being a little overly critical, but this is typical with a lot of stores in this area. For the prices I expected so much more, better service and quality selection would have been nice. This store is filled with gaudy outdoor furniture and bathroom cabinets trying to pass off as luxury. It amazes me that stores like this can stay in business!!! read more

The worst customer service ever. I purchased what I thought was a new bathroom vanity and picked it up at their warehouse. It was very dirty but the staff said it was just dusty then quickly loaded it in my truck. I drove it 2 hours where my carpenter was waiting to install it, upon closer inspection there were number of scratches and well as major scuffs most disturbing was you could tell it had been previously installed as there was a sloppy cut out in back as well as marks and indents where it had be screwed to a wall. After many calls, emails and photos guess what they offered NOTHING. Turns out they just pulled the same nonsense with a friend. I'm actually really suprised to see how terrible other Yelpers have reviewed this place. There is nothing wrong with it !!!!!! My mom bought outdoor furniture and the next day asked me to come along. She wanted to upgrade for a bigger couch. The store is beautiful! I asked the staff for help and a nice young lady came to help. She reimbursed our credit card in full with a smile and placed a whole new order. If I was ever a contestant on the Price Is Right, I would want this entire place to be my showcase showdown. Rhonda helped me get the patio furniture of my dreams. And Marilyn helped to get it made to my specifications. I wanted the cushion depth on the seat 2 inches shorter so I could sit without my feet dangling and I got it. Marilyn made the cushion zippers longer in case I ever need to take them off to wash. And when the covers for the furniture leaked at the seam, she fixed it while I waited so there are no leaks now. I got the custom made furniture in 2 weeks, exactly when Rhonda promised. With her expert design skills, she came to my house and helped me figure out what would look best, measured, and pulled it all together for me. We even put the furniture in a friend's car and carried everything ourselves, which made me save in shipping cost!
