This is a great shop in my hood, in the Helms Bakery shopping area. I have been in here a million times and always loved their stuff, but never bought anything substantial. Shelagh and I had been shopping at H.D. Buttercup around the corner to no avail and were in the car about to leave the area. Then I spied the La Bella Cosa sign and we screeched to a stop and bopped into the store. I found my dining room table!! I have been looking for months and have never found anything that hit the mark. Walked into this shop and there it was right in the middle of the store. It's solid walnut (like the floors in my new place) and really heavy. Should seat 6 comfortable and comes with an extension leaf. They make the tables and you can choose the finish and either walnut or alder. Yes, the people at the counter are the owners and they're great! Turns out the husband, Brian, designed the table!! He's an LA boy and got into this kind of stuff when he was a teenager. His wife runs the shop with him and they are both adorable and full of information. They have an amazing collection of stuff, and on the other side of the shop is an entire store for upscale children's clothing and furniture. Thank you La Bella Cosa! Dinner is served. read more

La Bella Cosa! Where do I begin...? After the ordeal we've experienced over the past 3+ months, I'm compelled to write this review. On April 1, 2012, my sister and I bought FOUR identical dining chairs (that's 8 total) that cost $600 a piece or over FIVE THOUSAND dollars. I must say, the owners Brian and Heidi Adler were very helpful during the "BUYING" process. Their smiles and laughter was most evident, while we placed our nearly six thousand dollar chair order. Unfortunately, when my sister and I placed our order, we never expected what we would experience in the following 3 months. The amount of aggravation we experienced from this store was outrageous and all Yelpers should be aware of La Bella Cosa Oh by the way, the owner, Heidi Adler said that this was the first time in owning their store, La Bella Cosa that someone bought EIGHT identical dinner room chairs at the same time. Given we were the first in their 14+ year history of owing their store, that such an order was placed, my sister and I assumed that the manufacturing and delivery process would be as seamless as the buying process. BOY WERE WE WRONG. Unfortunately for us, the fun ENDED with the buying process. Not only were the chairs not delivered in the 4-6 week time frame that Heidi promised, but when they were delivered at the 7 week mark, SIX of the CHAIRS WERE DAMAGED Yes, that's right SIX of the chairs, was DAMAGED or DEFECTIVE. SIX of the chairs had such significant PROBLEMS, i.e. DEFECTIVE WOOD, POOR STAINING AND SLOPPY UPHOLSTERY work that I wouldn't accept these chairs if they cost $100 a piece let alone they're one of La Bella Cosa's "FLAGSHIP" CHAIRS. Rather than bore the reader with the countless phone calls to Heidi over the past 2+ months to rectify this situation, it took until JULY 4th, that's right, Independence Day to freed of this aggravation and finally have all eight chairs. These chairs did NOT come from Italy or Europe, they were manufactured in Los Angeles, and yet it took THREE MONTHS to deliver all chairs. OUTRAGEOUS! Oh by the way, when Heidi and her husband delivered the chairs (in multiple deliveries) they EXCLAIMED that in 14 years they have never been to someone's house 4 times. Well, since my sister and I have never bought SIX HUNDRED DOLLAR CHAIRS before, we were outraged that it would take over 3 months and five deliveries to finally deliver chairs without gauges, poor staining, black marks, amateur sanding and shoddy upholstery work. Unbelievable! Despite being paid nearly SIX THOUSAND dollars Brian would arrive and like a mute wouldn't even say hello. Very different from the buying process when he was so effervescent. Heidi enjoyed hiding behind her sun glasses, rather than apologizing for making us rearrange our schedule on not once, but five times to finally take delivery of our chairs. As I've remodeled my place, I've bought thousands of dollars of furniture from various stores and NONE were like La Bella Cosa. Deliveries on time, furniture was in pristine condition and NO ATTITUDE from the owners. How dare them! My sister and I chose to buy at La Bella Cosa instead of HD Buttercup or countless other large furniture stores, because we like to shop at independent owner operated stores and not just large furniture stores. We will NEVER shop at La Bella Cosa and I advise any folks to do so, to use a designer and not come in as a retail buyer. Maybe the designer will have a relationship with Brian and Heidi so that the delivery process is as enjoyable as the buying process. Who knows...? Or better yet, check out all of the furniture in HD Buttercup, or the many furniture stores on Melrose Ave and Beverly Blvd near the Design Center or on La Brea Ave. We will NEVER shop at La Bella Cosa again. Just received our last chair! Brain ignored my sister, Heidi marched in and hid behind her sun glasses. No I'm sorry for all of the inconvenience, no thank you for your business.... There is one thing that will always earn my repeat business, great customer service. Brian and Heidi make you feel you are their only customer when they are with you. They were truly invested in meeting my needs. There was no sales pitch, just taking the time to learn more about what I wanted, how it would be used, and where it would placed. By asking all these questions, and really listening to my answers, we were able to find the perfect dining room table. I now have a beautiful and functional table. Not only can it comfortably seat 16 with both leaves installed, but it also serves a great everyday table as well as a place for my kids to do their homework. To top it off, we get tons of compliments on it. Having been so thoroughly pleased with our experience and the table, we had them design and build a custom vanity for my wife. This was not the largest project, but again, they were so attentive to our needs and the design details. They were able to design a vanity that fit perfectly and also matched the existing wood work in the bathroom. "You have such a lovely shop!!" my mom to the woman behind the cashier as we left. Its rare that you feel the need or want to say such a thing to a business owner or employee as you leave, but this one warranted it! This store is hidden in the shadow of HD Buttercups' massive warehouse of furniture treasures. I have been lunching at Café Dijonaise and playing at HD Buttercup for almost a year now and had never thought to step into this baby store. Honestly, I had had enough of baby stores. But yesterday my mother said, "Lets just stop in and take a look." I answered, "I already have EVERYTHING I NEED for this child. What ELSE could I possibly want to buy at this point?" Truth be told, I was overwhelmed with the desire to buy so so so so so many cute things there! They carry 'Under the Nile' clothing line, made from organic cotton from Egypt, pricey by it's nature ,but cute. My daughter has more clothes than she needs, so what I'm going to rave about is their incredible selection of exquisite bedding, art and toys. They have such a variety in their styles of bedding that I found a few that I could have fallen deep in love with had I not already bought my bedding. They have old school wooden toys and hand sewn dolls. But my FAVORITE was the art. So much art for the baby's room! Among others, they carry work from an artist named Jill McDonald. They were INCREDIBLE. I wanted them all! They were all printed on canvas which gave it such a nice feel and look. Later at home, I went on Jill's website to show my husband how amazing they were and they weren't on the website. That makes me really feel like these selections are even more special. The salespeople behind the counter seemed like the owners. They were kind and offered to help me right away but were not pushy. Plus, they conversed with my 5 month old, and that always makes me happy! There was only one thing missing that kept me from buying something - My husband! I was so enchanted by all of it that I wanted to share the decisions with him! Next chance I get, I will take my husband there and hopefully we will leave with a piece of art, an old school hot-air balloon to hang off the ceiling, and some wooden toys to start my daughter's collection. La Bella Cosa is our go-to store whenever we need great, quality furniture. Their products are beautiful and designed with such quality and care in mind. And the attention to detail is truly exceptional. When I couldn't find the dining room table and chairs that I wanted, Brian Adler helped me design the perfect set based on several small details I showed him pictures of. It turned out better than I could have dreamed of...and was delivered perfectly within deadline--with 3 days to spare before Thanksgiving! The 8 dining room chairs are the most comfortable chairs we own, and are wearing in perfectly. We recently had La Bella Cosa re-make a piece of furniture and they did it expertly. I can't recommend this L.A. gem more. We don't furniture shop without going to La Bella Cosa first...and usually, we never go elsewhere! read more

Love La Bella Cosa! We have bought a custom dining table last year that is beautiful. Then we were so happy with Brians work, we had him redo the pantry in our kitchen- building shelves and pull-outs into the existing cabinets. Then he built a custom vanity in my dressing area to match the existing bathroom. Throughout all the purchases, Brian and his wife Heidi were helpful and professional. Had something custom built and while it took a while i was happy with the product until it wasn't very well made and scratched up easily after having it for very short time. They didn't seem concerned with fixing it or standing by their work, which was clearly inferior. When you have something custom made you still expect it to hold up like a piece that was bought from a store. It's too bad as i need a lot more pieces of furniture but i'm too scared to have them do anything else and have it not be good quality that will last. read more

Bought a crib and a glider/ottoman after 2 times going into the store. I asked information about the crib twice and basically was told a general answer thinking it was a little like pulling teeth but thought little of it. I took pictures of the tag which said "name= tyler crib; dimensions; colors it came in." and paid $499+tax When i got the crib in the box, a part of the box said "Hudson Crib" and the "Letto" part of "Babyletto" and the wherehouse address was scratched off. When i saw that, I knew it was the hudson crib from babyletto which i had seen everywhere and which had been $399 everywhere as well. I was lead to think I bought a custom furniture crib or perhaps I automatically thought that because there was so little information I was offered to by the saleswoman. Nonetheless, I felt that this crib was totally misrepresented and felt it was so shady of them to scratch the name out of the box. The saleswoman said she didnt mean to misrepresent the crib and that they scratch off the wherehouse address only for privacy. I still felt that I'd been HAD. As a token, they did credit me back $100 for the price difference. I just wonder why they name it "tyler crib" if it in fact is a "hudson crib"... new ays, I have a bad feeling about this store and will never again shop there. because they mislead me one way, I kinda do regret buying that glider and ottoman from them too although there is nothing wrong with it except the hefty $1600 price tag -includes ulphostery...
