My group of three sat at the bar, and though there was a walkway directly next to us, we never had issues with eating space. I'll shoutout the service, because our bartender was seriously the best. He gave us great recommendations and was super attentive of us. If you're looking to try any cocktail, get an absinthe cocktail. Our bartender recommended the Inverness and it was such a good drink. I've never experienced worse service while dining in NYC. The experience was so appalling that I feel compelled to warn others. Five friends and I were seated at a corner table, directly under a blaring speaker. We were chatting and laughing--it's what you'd expect from a group of women in their 30s enjoying a night out. But were we obnoxiously loud? Absolutely not. Yet, the manager rudely demanded we quiet down. This was completely uncalled for and frankly insulting. We ordered over $500 worth of food and drinks, and everything arrived at a snail's pace. Each round of drinks took upwards of 20 minutes, with not a single apology from any of the four different servers who attended us during our two-hour ordeal. Every time we asked a question, it was met with attitude and disdain. The final straw was when we were still waiting for our lobster rolls and a bottle of wine, and a hostess came over to inform us that we had to leave in 25 minutes because they needed the table. I canceled the rest of our order and asked for the check. When one of my friends asked to speak to the manager--yes, the same woman who had shushed us earlier--she offered not a single word of apology. It's clear they simply didn't want to serve us. I have been to Maison Premiere a number of times, both before their closing and after. I most recently went on Sunday with a group of 5 people. The restaurant is small, so definitely make a reservation. There is a large bar in the center of the room in the front, a small number of tables in the back, and a garden / backyard area. It is decorated nicely, in the spirit of an old school New Orleans style bar / restaurant. Service is generally good, although be aware that food and drinks come out on the slower side (but not too slow). Oyster happy hour is a great deal here, but they're currently not offering it. They have a number of oyster options available, and have a great selection of West Coast oysters. The drinks here are great, with tableside sazeracs, tableside martinis, and a number of other drinks. This is definitely a place to try a couple of cocktails. The food menu is a bit more limited, but there are a lot of great (primarily seafood) options. I have had some of the crudo options, which have all been good. At my most recent visit, I had the scallop crudo - 4.5/5, bread and seaweed butter (from She Wolf - 4/5), and cod andrade (tasty but very rich - 4/5). I also recently had the caviar service, which was pretty standard -- my one complaint about it would be the toast that comes with the caviar, which is strangely long and thin and did not hold the caviar or other accoutrements well at all (see picture). I honestly wouldn't order the caviar service again because of the toasts. I like Maison Premiere a lot, and will return in the future. I do wish they would change their toast to make the caviar easier to eat. read more

My Aunt wanted to take us to her favorite local place and this was it! We had SO much fun sitting at the bar having cocktails and small bites. The bartender was not only funny and friendly but extremely knowledgeable. Love the 20's vibe from ambiance to staff outfits (suspenders & fishnets). Needless to say they make an incredible classic cocktail (from French 75s to Tom Collins) but I would recommend adventuring through their specialty menu cocktails. I go for gin, so I had the Peacock Throne and it was divine (must love orgeat - common in Mai Tais). We also had the cod small plate which I quickly finished off - it was so creamy and delicious! Their bread comes with seaweed butter so if that's not your thing, ask for regular butter. Probably best to make a reservation if you want a table on a weekend night but the bar is such a great spot too. What a phenomenal experience. I made a reservation for my partner's birthday and boy did they go above and beyond! Both of us are hospitality professionals with fine dining experience and I can't tell you the last time I was so blown away with a restaurant's food, cocktail program, and service like this. Places that do hospitality like this are few and far between these days, from the nice little touches and complimentary things they did for my partner's birthday, down to the floor manager introducing himself to us upon being sat. Some of, if not the best oysters I've had in NYC, the food was just spectacular. Probably the best cocktail I've had since sitting at the EMP bar. Our server, Morgan, was a delight and attentive in the best way. The concept is brilliant and the atmosphere was perfect, making you feel immersed without being overbearing. We sat at the oyster bar, super cool to see them shucking right in front of us but still intimate enough to enjoy the company of the person I came with. We ordered 18 oysters between the three of us, which was honestly a perfect amount. They were fresh and juicy and were served with a vinegar, hot sauce, and horseradish. We also ordered the beef tartare, which was on top of an olive tapenade that was super tasty and had a good amount of salt to balance the beef. It was served with 4 pieces of a seeded-wheat-type bread. To finish, we ordered the rum crème brulee. The top cracked nicely, but the custard had a pretty strong rum flavor. Maison Premiere has been on my radar for some time and I finally wanted to give them a shot. Upon entry, it's vey dark in there. I have a love hate relationship for dimly lit establishments. I enjoy it sometimes but others it can be a bit overwhelming. Nonetheless, the restaurant is gorgeous. Definitely has a an old time feel to it. Service is also a 10/10, we had several members come over to assist at several different times so that we're never on the hunt for our waiter. Drinks: The drinks we about a 7/10. I certainly expected a bit more from them but they got the job done. Food: I got the Scallop Crudo along with the Charbroiled Oysters and they were um, um good!! The hype is real. My friend and I visited on a Thursday night early July and were so pleased we planned ahead with reservations. There is usually a wait for walk-ins, and when you visit, you will fully get why. We ordered the chef's selection, splitting a dozen oysters between us. There are so many cocktail options - even one with Malort! There is a section for Absinthe cocktails, and I ordered the Casablanca which included St. George, yogurt, chai, and lime. It was pretty good. I would definitely like to go back and dfferent cocktails. We also shared the steak tartare. The pleasant surprise was how much we loved the bread served with it. I have limited knowledge when it comes to oysters and that didn't negatively impact my experience at all. Such a great cocktail and oyster bar in the area! I love the moody, romantic ambiance of the place, and the cocktails are not only beautiful to look at, but also absolutely delicious. The pina colada comes in a whole coconut with a giant sprig of mint on top- so fun and so yummy! They specialize in absinthe and have a wide array of choices and absinthe based cocktails. The highlight here was trying the rare Belon oyster - a massive oyster (palm sized) that is mineral heavy, on a flat shell. Our server told us a brief history of the oyster as she is from the area of France that Belon oysters are harvested! (Although these Belon oysters here are from Maine I believe). They have a long list of oyster options from the east coast and west coast, and at the oyster bar you get to watch them be shucked for every order. It takes awhile for the oysters which is understandable - however it also took even longer for other food we had ordered. Whenever I venture out to Brooklyn I always have to make a stop at Maison Premiere. The ambiance is beautifully romantic and makes you feel like you've walked into the past. The hosts and servers are always incredible and knowledge about everything on the extensive list if cocktails and absinthe. During the weekday you can probably manage getting a table or seats at the bar as a walk in earlier in the night, but expect a wait if you decide to go later in the evening or on the weekend. The cocktails are all amazing and unique. I haven't had a cocktail that I didn't. My all time favorite is the lambeth walk fizz which is deliciously creamy but be warned the fizz takes quite awhile to make. I usually order a two cocktails so by the time I finish the first, the lambeth is in its way. The oyster and crudo selection are my favorite things on the menu. I usually fill up on the oysters and seafood tower so I haven't had any of their hot menu. All the crudo is amazing and worth getting. The caviar service is also great when you're looking to indulge. Overall, definitely a go-to spot of mine and it never disappoints. read more

I would recommend coming earlier and trying to get seated at a table booth especially if you're coming here on a first date. This place is so crowded and tight ESPECIALLY if you're seated by the bar. We literally got shoulder bumped every minute by someone trying to leave or use the restroom because the walkway is so narrow. We ordered a variety of 14 oysters, and they were all fresh, plump, and sweet. I am no oyster expert so I ate them randomly, and I cannot tell you which ones were which. I thoroughly enjoyed the oysters as a whole. The cocktails are $17; both the High Chicago and Mai Tai were tasty and super presentable (I see mini umbrellas... I like). We walked in to a bar reminiscent of the 1920s that makes you feel like you're in a different era. We were welcomed by Eddie at the bar, who was charismatic and knowledgeable. We loved the cod dish and clam toast. Eddie was so talented and creative that he made a special drink for one of us that epitomized what she told him she liked. To top off the evening he offered us a toast to celebrate my daughter's engagement, gratis. Absinthe is really potent so this was a great place to explore it more as they know what they are doing. Also got oysters to go with the drinks. Bruno, is the workhorse, he can make you any drink you want and the quality, the quality, well there's none higher. Stevie, works the front of the house, but this guy wears multiple hats, it's a good disguise to not truly ever offend. He's working the couples who have nothing left to talk about, the cute row of girls next to me, or making the single girl feel less alone, giving her attention, a true mensch. The gift of making one comfortable comes hardly natural to anyone, yet they can all pull this skill out of their professionalism with ease. They're also, a fun, creative, almost familial bunch of pros. Where one person lacks a skill the other picks it right up, visa-versa, that's called fine dining or drinking lol. The oyster shucker, Rudy, peers out of the window occasionally to observe the madness of the aura which is bombastically predictable given the scene in Williamsburg at this place lol. I envy his observations, as well as shucking ability. Now I got to talk about this lobster roll. This roll only rivals and perhaps surpasses the best Montauk Highway, at any point of the seasons.
