A new lunch spot in the Times Square/Garment District area. I like a place where I can grab a filling lunch for $8.17. Ordered the (3) chicken tacos (grilled chicken) w/ complimentary salsa (4 to choose from) and select add on's. The portion sizes are healthy (large) and the flavor tastes pretty close to an authentic mexican cantina---quality. I enjoyed it and plan to add Blue Maiz to my lunch rotation. Blue Maiz is so far my favorite quick Mexican spot to go to in the city. I salute the chef for making such exquisite tacos and burritos, but oh the Guac!!!! My steak burrito was literally love at first bite. I genuinely recommend this restaurant to anybody that wants to taste amazing Mexican cuisine. The staff here were all friendly and efficient. The food however was not as good as I had hoped, very bland. The strips of grilled chicken portions were so small it was like having none at all. In addition the strips were cut into the smallest strips that I have ever seen in this type of fast food restaurants. All the the options to add into the bowl were nothing more than average. We went to Blue Maiz and had a quick delicious dinner that was not only incredible, but also affordable in Times Square.The food is fresh and flavorful. We had two naked burritos. Mine was with Beef carne asada and my husbands was with pork Carnitas; they were both delicious. I added guacamole on mine and it was so flavorful I loved every bite. If you are looking for a delicious and healthier alternative to chipotle. This is the place for you. This place has amazing food with just the right amount of seasoning on their items. I always get the naked burrito with the tortilla on the side. The ingredients are always so fresh and flavorful. I have been there a handful of times and to be honest every time I visit the food just gets better and better. The guacamole is so fresh and delicious and my favorite part is there chipotle crema. It has the right amount of tangy and spice. Let's not forget the staff in there. EVERYONE IS GREAT WITH AN AMAZING ATTITUDE. It makes you want to come back. They treat you like family there. They are always smiling, always willing to answer questions and explain what the items they sell are. They also rrecommend things you should try based on what you order which is cool too. I don't know why this place has a 4 star and not a 5 star because they truly deserve 10 stars. Non-chain version of Chipotle. High quality but nothing mind blowing. Chips were a mediocre mix of stale and fresh. Chicken seasoning is not as good as Chipotle in my opinion. Salsa Verde was solid. Chipotle's cheese has an edge, not sure what the difference is there. Desire to support smaller businesses aside, overall probably wouldn't choose this over Chipotle if they were side by side. We had such a delicious meal at Blue Maíz yesterday! The quesadillas were amazing and the salad so fresh! The food is prepared with care and nothing is pre frozen. I've been looking for an alternative to Chipotle for a while, so I'm so happy to find this place. I got three blue maiz tacos - one chicken, one pork, and one steak - with lettuce, cheese, brown rice, and salsa verde. It was gone in less than 10 minutes. Everything tasted so much fresher than one of the fast-casuals- especially the corn tortilla, which was flavorful and delicious. Plus, there's ample seating so it's perfect for a rainy day. Was not sure what to expect. Ordered delivery and pleased. We ordered naked burritos. Exceptional. Quality and the taste was great. Not to mention I swear they were at our apartment in 10 minutes. After shuffling back and forth, when I told the woman where I ordered from, she said "oh that's why. We have had problems (although she found my order) I was then told that the order had not even been made. Are you kidding me???? I had a friend with me and now we had to wait how much longer? She told me 10 minutes. I asked her then why is the link on their site even there? She was very kind but come on. Yes, I will still order from them, but beware. Very different from our first experience. Just received the order (fast!) with a soda included, very sweet. However, with beans on my burrito which I am allergic to. I ordered a vegetarian quesadilla -- I find first chicken inside (I am highly allergic to chicken) and I also find hair inside my meal. I brought the meal back and whoever takes orders and the cook literally looked at me like I had two heads when I complained. They did not say a word to help me feel better they just stood there.
