Let me preface this with saying that Covid is extremely real and masks are vital and I wear one. However, it is perfectly reasonable to briefly remove a mask to blow your nose, eat, drink or perform other bodily functions. Apparently the b*tchy hypocritical control freak who is the chef here thinks otherwise, as she accosted me twice for having my mask down whilst I was drinking tea whilst waiting for my order from the other restaurant in the food hall. Also worth mentioning that if you're going to criticise people for not wearing their mask, you should have yours on correctly--over your mouth and your nose. This has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in South Shore. Everything is go delicious and fresh! I look forward to seeing what their daily specials are. The only negative is that the space is so small, but it's actually quant and part of its charm. I certainly recommend this place to anyone that enjoys fresh food and vegetable options. Moved nearby and wanted to try this place out since I'm a vegetarian. Let me just say wow!! The food was delicious and so perfectly flavored! The employees were super nice also. Tried the sloppy joe, falafel fritters, and jerk tofu sandwich. The sloppy joe with lentils was amazing and the tofu was some of the best I've had. Excellent vegan food. The barbecue cauliflower is to die for. Greens good and not bitter but could be more highly seasoned. I also prefer softer cornbread. I shared these with a friend. We also ordered the mushroom and lentil wrap but portions so big that we each took home our half. Had it later. Very tasty. Too bad no Diet Coke, but I guess it's not healthy enough to be available. Let me just say this in the most Professional way possible. The food is outstanding, don't get me wrong. I worked for Majani's on the South Shore location for about a month since July. I was a cashier there, anyone looking for a job..... DO NOT APPLY HERE!!! Here's why. For about a couple of weeks when I started it was smooth it wasn't all bad I was even given compliments from my customers stating that I was doing a good job and was even making great tips. As time started to pass, the own of the restaurant was starting to nit pick about any and EVERYTHING. Nothing was ever good for him and it was like I was walking on eggshells whenever I went in to do my shift. I was doing things that weren't even in my job description. They would make me do so much in the morning so they won't have to do anything at night and when I come, nothing is swept nothing is stocked and I'm the one to do what they didn't the night before. They are so understaff because of the way they treat their employees and the employees either leave or they just fire them for no reason, which is in my case. I was just fired yesterday and the owner didn't explain why I was being terminated. I didn't let it phase me but my friend use to work there and was a great employee as well, she told me that she was harassed by the male workers and that the owner tried to flirt with her and he is married. She got bit by a dog one day, the same day before her shift. She could've went to the hospital but didn't, and chose to go to work. He fired her because he said she wasn't a good look for their establishment and the wife assumed she was stealing from them because she was making big tips!!! The wife is also jealous of the female workers that comes in as well, I found this out from a previous worker that use to work at the Majani's on Pullman she said they can't even run a business and they are so unprofessional. Last weekend, a mother her ignorant son came into the business and began threatening the entire staff because we didn't have cheese. That same day, the owner texts me telling me that the salads and the soup cups weren't stocked when I KNEW for sure I was stocking everything all morning before the night shift walked in. He was worried about a damn salad then his employees safety! I had a personal matter I needed to take of at home and told him I won't be able to make it to my shift, he told me to take an entire week off to sort it out. I was so confused and also upset cause I won't be getting paid for that entire week. I asked him why, he didn't give me ANY answer and soon fired an hour later. The cook and I were the only two in the morning, and when we would receive product from them alot of it is expired and we would have to send it back to get fresh produce. They refuse to hire anybody and just fire the ones he has and get new employees because he simply doesn't want to pay anyone. I've never witnessed ANYTHING like this in all my years of working for anyone. So unprofessional, so unappreciative, and so greedy. He even tried to imply that I was stealing from him and when it was true that I wasnt, he didn't even apologize. The sanitation area, looks gross! They don't mop not sweep or wipe anything down in the morning and I'm always being swamped with everything once I get there. I even get there an hour early to make sure I got everything in place. All in saying is, for someone whose built this place from the ground up you should more compassionate for someone who wants to make sure your business stays open. Within a week or two about five to ten people have walked off the job or just never came back. These are the people guys are spending money with. They don't care about their employees, they just want to look good for their fans. I'm upset I didn't take pictures o show how bad the upkeep is in their restaurant because they expect two people to do everything in the morning when they have at least five people at night helping them and they don't do shit. read more

My husband and I came in on a Wednesday evening and were seated right away. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. As a very picky vegan.....I have high expectations. Preparation and presentation are key and Majani's nailed both. We ordered the taco salad and daily dinner special (bbq cauliflower, black eyed peas, rice, greens, and cornbread) and were literally seconds away from plate licking status but chose to play it cool. The hour drive is worth it from west suburbs definitely! When I first tasted their food my exact thoughts were " what greatness is in the food". I couldn't resist their different vegan items dishes and desserts it is highly delicious including the drinks too. Also the produce is local and fresh as well (big A+). I'm overjoyed to find Majani, the South Shore community is lucky to have Majani's near them. My first time visted here I was impressed with the articulture work that the owners put together. I recognize beautiful art when I see it. The art designs speaks volume it spoken peaceful words, positive vibes and I felt relaxed. I didn't want to leave even the working women in the kitchen brought memories of my grandma, mom and aunts used to cooked together but not anymore. I was glad to see that. The customer services was excellent yes even on a busy night, very worth it. I appreciated having my food cooked fresh and I know its vegan. I ordered the gyro(perfect flavoring), sweet potatoes and dessert and had a sorrel drink it was GREAT,. I then understood why the greatness was in the food cause Majani heart is in the right place. I ate here last night with my friend! I am vegan and my friend is far from vegan and he loved the food. As people are becoming more conscious of food's impact on their health, he liked that the food being plant based was easily digested and tasted very good. Me being a particular vegan lol I loved that unlike almost all the vegan restaurants in Chicago, this place offered gluten free and soy free options. Its new and the food was very good and very affordable for a vegan or non vegan restaurant for the type of food they sell. Great food as usual. However was in the restaurant today and was disappointed not by the food or service, but the bathroom. Toilet was stuffed with tissue and smelled of urine. Apparently the toilet hasn't flushed for days. The server says their solution to that was an "out of order" sign someone forgot to place on bathroom door. Unacceptable. After a delicious meal, really hadn't expected that. I hope this is addressed. Just call a handyman. read more

Soooo, I gave Majani almost a month off because they kept forgetting items. I have only ever purchased via uberEATS. Ordered tonight and as normal they forgot my Ginger Lemonade! The carrot cake is $8 a slice, I loved it, it WAS filled with walnuts any other time I ordered from them....today true to form no nuts! I'm done supporting black businesses especially VEGAN black businesses the consistency is not there but the EXPENSIVE price is and this place doesn't even have the courtesy to call you when they forget something. I hope the manager or the owner decides to respond to this post, like he did my last one. I will have no problem posting what I ordered as well as the refunds received by uberEATS. read more

Majani is a small, cozy and casual vegan restaurant located in south shore. Our family recently went to Majani to treat my daughter for her 18th birthday. Our waitress Mariah was very nice. She gave us a great description of the foods that are offered and the presentation was simple yet sent with statement. We tried the fried black eye peas dipped in bbq sauce, the gyro, the lentil and black-eye pea burger with sweet potato fries, their natural juices and everything was delicious. If you are looking for a Vegan restaurant, I would highly recommend that you go on a weekday when it's less crowded to get the most of your experience. I also received a message from the server for this review. Completely unprofessional to write an entire soliloquy explaining yourself instead of just apologizing and moving on. I'm an assistant vice president of a major company in Chicago and I'd be very upset if my employees responded that way to a complaint. This is a sad trend amongst certain types of retail businesses where the customer service has a condescending undertone. Like if I knew anything about restaurant service I'd understand why he was unable to properly serve me and my husband while properly servicing the table next to us. My 1st time ever writing a negative review! "majani's vegan restaurant" the waitress was kind & knowledgable of the menu & beverages. Ordered 2# sides of cabbage & jerk tofu both were tasty however tofu was charged as an entree. I kindly expressed my dislike for the crabcakes & she ask me did I want her to remove the dish. Please do, was never asked may I offer u anything else? After receiving my bill with the cost of the crabcakes too. The waitress said there wasnt a chef there to make the decision to remove the item off the bill. Never, never again! read more
