After calling almost all bakeries in dallas/plano area and devastated that fondant cakes cost way more than I expected, I finally found Melissa. She was the nicest, most caring baker who also offered half of what other bakeries asked for. I volunteered to pay all the cost up front because I knew right away I could trust her (she needs money to go buy the supplies before starting). She kept me updated, did exactly (if not above and beyond) what I asked for. My mom loved the cake and I can't thank Melissa enough. She is truly the hidden gem among other bakeries who try to rip you off. Definitely ordering all my cakes from Maka paka from now on! Thank you!!

I had the pleasure of finding Maka Paka Bakery (Melissa) via a google search for an impromptu birthday weekend getaway and her customer service was definitely top-notch! She was very accommodating to a customized cake with short notice. The cake received was picture-perfect - exactly the image sent or even better! And the taste was exceptional.. Taste and presentation - Aced! She even went the extra mile to deliver the cake at a later time when plans were not going in our favor. 1 star for this Baker. Would have given zero stars but yelp doesn't allow that. Absolutely the worst cake experience I've had. Melissa called me 20 mins prior to a scheduled pickup asking for more time as the fondant wasn't holding up. I requested a full refund given the appearance of the cake. I had to hide the multiple areas of missing fondant with moons .. It was a big disaster, absolutely disappointing and upsetting. She had the audacity to respond back in capital letters and refused to provide a full refund -despite claiming that she holds customer service at an excellent level. Needless to say, I will not be using this baker again !!! read more

Do not use this bakery. I paid a deposit and she wanted me to pay for the rest of the cake the night before sight un seen. I was more than willing to pay for it but she said without full payment she wouldn't do it. She never communicated this. TERRIBLE! Do not order from her, she's a scammer. read more

I was tasked with finding a birthday cake for my boss and was pleasantly pleased with finding Melissa and the Maka Paka Bakery. Melissa was absolutely wonderful from the moment I first made contact and gracious all the way through to delivery and setup. She was quick to respond during the initial cake design process and created one of the coolest cakes I've ever seen. Not only did Melissa perfect every detail but the cake tasted AMAZING!! A number of people in the office commented on how a lot of times you see a gorgeous cake but flavor is sacrificed for a detailed exterior. This cake was SO GOOD!! The German chocolate was unbelievably delicious! I look forward to the next opportunity to work with Melissa and experience other yummy flavors she has to offer. Thank you SO much Melissa! Even though the kids kept reminding me I put off ordering my wife's birthday cake until the last min. I called Maka Paka after searching Yelp with 3 days to spare and spoke to Melissa. Based on the picture of the Don Julio cake I asked if she could make a cake that looked like my wife's favorite beverage bottle. Melissa asked for a photo of the bottle and she is such a perfectionist that she wanted multiple angles so she could work the bend in the bottle the exact same way. The cake blew me away and everyone we shared the photo with!! Oh and when I went to pick up the cake and we couldn't get it stable in my trunk Melissa rode home with me holding the cake! I really cannot say enough good things about this place - you will not be disappointed. read more

My top favorite were the cookie dough and the amaretto raspberry. The raspberry filling has the perfect balance of sweetness, but a slight tart (like a hint of acidity). My boys loved the mudslide as it is a chocolate lovers DREAM and the French toast. My plan was to try 3 different businesses however the Divas have given me exactly what I was looking for. I was looking online for a bakery to order cake for our 1 year old and came across Maka Paka Bakery.I reached out asking if they can replicate the cake I had in mind and send a picture.I got an immediate friendly and a polite response that indeed they can.
