What an amazing experience!!! We came here yesterday to celebrate our son's 2nd birthday with our family. Located inside the Aulani, Makahiki restaurant is absolutely beautiful. They offer a character dining breakfast every day which includes a 3 course meal- a parfait, malasada, and your choice of an entree. Keep in mind, it's highly recommended to make a reservation exactly one month in advance. They get booked pretty fast so make sure to book online at midnight (Hawaii time) to make sure you get the day and time you want. If you're not staying at the hotel, you can do valet parking. Just make sure to validate your ticket before leaving the restaurant. Once we checked in for our reservation, we lined up to take a professional photo with Mickey. Our son loved the koi fish pond while waiting to take a picture with Mickey. There was even a staff member who offered to take pictures from my cellphone. After pictures with Mickey, they took us to our table where our server came and introduced himself. We told him that it was our son's birthday and he even brought out a special birthday treat for him at the end of our meal. It was really nice of him. Our server checked on us frequently and always made sure to refill our drinks. I had the punaluu sweet bread French toast with Portuguese sausage, my husband had the kalua pig omelette, and our son had the kids pancakes with bacon. Everything came out delicious! Our loved the pancakes. They were so fluffy! What I loved most about our experience is that the Disney characters came around our table multiple times so our son got a chance to interact with them. Although my son loved every character who came by to wish him a happy birthday, his favorite characters were Chip and Dale. It was so sweet to see him always wanting to hold their hand and hug them. Overall, we had a wonderful time. I do admit that the breakfast is pricey at $50 per person, but it was worth the money after seeing our son smile and have so much fun. This was a non-Disney character dining experience: Josh (and Danny for best body surf beaches - incredible IG @hawaiiwaveimages surf photos that he's won awards for!) were a joyful experience with locals! Had a reservation but the grandsons were starving so we tried walking in - success! Everyone was super nice! The menu is fixed; that said my athlete was able to trade his desert for a salad. Major win! We were so full from exceptionally delicious and beautifully plated steaks, salmon, chicken ... we asked if our toffee brownie ice creams could be boxed. Yes! It's a thoughtfully decorated restaurant, the wall art in particular. It is adjacent to the Disney pool but the inside of restaurant is far enough away you don't constantly hear kids screaming down the water slide. Another major win!! Josh made us feel like family. This review is for a visit on Monday, 1.9.23 My daughter and I fondly remember character breakfasts at Disneyland and Disney World. To get our Disney in locally, we headed to Aulani. I secured a reservation the day before. Though I couldn't get one through the online method, a phone call did the trick and 7 am and 10:30 am cancellations were available. For us a 10:30 a.m. is a perfect brunch time. We parked in the ample lot, where you receive a 2.5 hour parking validation to park free. Enough time to eat and walk the property a little. Upon arriving the hostess asks and records food allergies. You are then directed to a short queue to take photos with Mickey. The charge is $35 to receive a downloadable cache of photos on the Disneyland app. If you like, the assistant takes photos with your cellphone. But as my daughter pointed out the professional photos come out better due to the advantageous angle the photographer has. The photo seller came to our table, took our charge card, and returned with receipt. You will need to download Disneyland app--to view and download your purchase. They also give you a card with a code to access the photos later, if you don't have the app yet. After exiting the queue, you are taken into the restaurant. Here there is an apportioning to take pictures with Chef Goofy. This spot the assistant uses your camera/cell. Then we were escorted to the outdoor lanai to dine. There is a QR code for the menu. As you wait Pluto and Max, Goody's son makes their rounds to diners. The characters are friendly and their hand gestures to convey message of warmth and playfulness--effective. As an adult --I'm still giddy to visit with the characters. They came a wound several times as we dined. My daughter and I decided to get a savory dish --Kalua Omlette And a sweet dish --the Belgian waffles--(which the server asked if we'd like it in the iconic Mickey shape--of course!) and share--in an attempt to emulate the previous buffet style, we experienced here in the past. The portions--generous and filling. We had leftovers. The taste--satisfying. Red velvet and regular waffles. Kind of wish Lilo and Stitch made their rounds--since they are linked to Hawaii. With two grown ups just wanting a bit of the Disney experience (and admittedly a big fan of the parks and character breakfasts) we were happy we came. "Adults are only kids grown up." - Walt Disney Recently, we were ecstatic when our nephew and his family, who we've not often seen over the past two and half years due to the pandemic, invited us to celebrate our great niece's First Birthday at the Disney Aulani Resort & Spa. We're also longtime fans of the wonderful world of Disney. Our islands were fortunate to see the opening of The Disney Aulani Resort & Spa in late Summer 2011, where many local and visiting families play or cavort while surrounded by friendly Disney characters clad in Aloha wear. Although we wandered around this resort several years ago after golfing at the nearby Ko Olina Golf Club, this was the first time we had eaten in one of this resort's restaurants. Our nephew's family treated the group of 10 adults and a baby to the Makahiki Character Breakfast. The character breakfast included great photo opportunities with Disney characters while dining and a family portrait. Our server was engaging, professional, and attentive with adults and 1-year old. We never had to ask for beverage refills or replacement eating utensils (when one of our members accidentally dropped their fork) from our server. It was as if she had "eyes on the back of her head" and had an extraordinary hearing. However, even with the attention of our group, she was not obtrusive. We enjoyed the three-course breakfast menu as each entrée started with a bread basket and a plate of fresh sliced fruits and berries. The beverages included fresh fruit juices, hot or iced teas, and coffees. There were ten entrées to choose from the menu, and our server inquired if any of us had any food allergies before taking our requests. During our breakfast, a couple of the Disney characters came by to wish our great niece a Happy Birthday, and we got more photo opportunities. We also were serenaded by local talent during the celebration. At our table, there was another couple who ordered the Hawaiian Style Loco Moco and the O'ahu Farmers Omelet (see photos). Both my husband and I ordered the Smoked Salmon Plate. All of the breakfasts were tasty, seasoned well and generously portioned. We were impressed with the flavor and texture of the smoked salmon, which by the way were not paper-thin slices. The lightly toasted bagel had crunchy edges and a nice chewy inside. After spreading the cream cheese on half of the bagel, putting a slice of smoked salmon and topping it with the accoutrements, I could only eat half of the serving. My husband also didn't finish both halves and our server noticed and inquired if we weren't pleased with our breakfast which quickly denied but asked for a doggy bag since we were so full. Our server returned with takeout containers and even asked if she could assist us in packing up the food. I was invited by my son to join them for breakfast at Aulani's Makahiki Restaurant. The only parking that we found was the valet service at the entry of the hotel. The parking ticket said that parking was $40, but I asked the Makahiki desk about it and was told that parking was free with validation from the restaurant. After checking in we were guided outside to take pictures with Mickey Mouse before we were seated. When we were seated there was a lovely lady that roamed the dining room singing and conversing with the patrons, she had a nice voice and was very good at whet she does. Also, the Disney characters also roamed and visited every table. The menu came and I noticed there were no prices listed. That is when I learned that every meal was $50 no matter what you ordered and it includes everything including beverages. We were served fruits and a malasada each. The fruits were very generous and tasted in season and sweet. The malasada (fried Hawaiian donut) seemed house made and was light airy and delicious. I looked at it and I thought that I shouldn't eat it so I can save room for my meal, but once I tasted it I couldn't help myself and ate the whole thing. My granddaughter had the Mickey Mouse waffles with bacon from the kid's menu and I believe she ate the whole thing. My son enjoyed the loco loco while his wife and I enjoyed the veggie omelet. The breakfast plates were good, but not great. You pay for the experience and that is what makes this place great. Yes, it is a little pricey but when you have grandchildren it is worth coming. We took the leftover fruit home because they gave each diner a very generous serving. If you have young children this splurge is definitely worth it. We made reservations for the character breakfast at Makahiki during our recent staycation at Aulani to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The three course breakfast is $50 per adult and $30 per child. When we arrived, we lined up at the hostess stand to check in and were given a ticket to go take pictures with Mickey outside. Then, we sat in the waiting area for our table. The breakfast meal started with your choice of drink (coffee or juice included, espresso drinks are an extra charge - FYI), a malasada, and a yogurt parfait. There were a variety of sweet and savory entree options, our party tried the kalua pig omelette, traditional omelette, eggs benedict, and loco moco. There is a separate kids menu and we ordered the Mickey and Minnie Waffles for our daughter. During our breakfast, there was live ukelele the whole time as well as circulating characters (Pluto, Chip, and Dale). The entree food itself was standard breakfast fare, and I was already quite full from the malasada and yogurt parfait. The egg dishes all came with potatoes, some peppers/onions, and a shishito pepper. We ended up taking most of the entrees to-go as lunch during our pool day. My daughter loved the waffles, but they don't travel well as takeout as they get soggy quickly! The servers/kitchen were very vigilant of food allergies, taking care to ask specifics and mark dishes with an "allergy" label. As a special treat for her birthday, they also brought out a slice of chocolate cake for my daughter, which we were definitely too stuffed to enjoy at the time! We ate at Makahiki once for dinner and once for character breakfast. Food wise, I preferred the dinner but, I'm partial because I'm not a huge breakfast person. For the memories and family fun, the character breakfast wins. I feel like this is a given but, it's worth mentioning, the staff were all friendly, welcoming and engaging. For dinner, I had corn soup and Caesar salad for my appetizer, which I found to be equally satisfying; well seasoned and delicious. For my main course, I ordered a ribeye with a side of shrimp. I thought the shrimp was bland, but the ribeye was perfectly cooked and flavorful. For dessert, I had the pineapple tart with ice cream and tried the brownie with ice cream. My favorite out of the two was the tart. I liked the crumble and that it wasn't insanely sweet. The cost of dinner was approximately $230. The character breakfast, experience wise, feels opposite of the dinner experience. Dinner was formal and quiet while breakfast is loud and silly. It starts off meeting Mickey Mouse. Families get a private opportunity to take photos with him and now that Covid is less of a concern, even give him a hug. As staff walks you to your table, you make a stop to see Goofy and take more pictures! Throughout breakfast, different characters stop by to say hello and engage your party. Again, pictures. There was also someone playing the ukulele and singing during the entire breakfast. Our entrees were, veggie omelet with potatoes, pancakes with bacon and French toast with fruit compote. First of all, we didn't realize it is NOT A BUFFET anymore. Apparently that stopped during the pandemic. I recall years ago the buffet was special and I remember the chef coming out to walk us around the buffet to show us the gluten free options... and back then they brought a basket of fresh gluten free baked products. It used to be a really nice experience. That all was back in 2012 or 2013 and I actually felt like the value was there. Now, in 2026, it's $57 for bacon and eggs! The menu is limited. You have a few choices - pancakes, bacon/eggs, omelet and maybe one or two other options. You also get a donut, a cup of fruit, and a coffee/tea/juice. It's a "3 course meal" as they call it. The food is fine but it is outrageous to charge $57 per person for an ok breakfast. It's fun to have the characters come through but that price is just way too much and we will not go back. Service felt rushed and VERY institutional. I like Hawaii for casual and relaxed. This was neither. The photo guy at the front takes your photo with Mickey, which was fun, but when they took it with our camera they rushed it and gave us bad and blurry photos - intentional!? So you can pay $45 to buy their pictures if you want photos with Mickey! So a family of 4 becomes about $300 for the food with tax/tip PLUS $45 for the photos so you're at around $350 for breakfast. Ouch! We still like Aulani overall but the prices are really getting to be too crazy for us. We may or may not go back to Aulani but will definitely skip the character breakfast! read more

Not bad, but not good either. The wait staff was good, but the front area staff were downright rude. We arrived to dinner at 7pm. Our reservation was for 7pm. When we arrived the front desk girl couldn't find our reservation. So we said okay a table for two please. She said without a reservation we would have to wait 1.5 hours and 'hope' a table opens up. When I reminded her we had a tea they she was unable to find, she just said wait off to the side and I'll get to you when I can. 30 minutes later someone calls our name and we got seated. Walking through the entire restaurant, it was only 60% full. So clearly reservations are for staff, not actual tables. We ordered a meal to share, and the waitress said everyone must order a meal at the table. But we said we weren't that hungry and only wanted one meal. She said she couldn't do that. I asked to speak to a manager. After a 15 minute wait, someone else came to our table and asked if we had ordered. We said no, and he took our order for one meal without incident. The steak was good, cooked properly and the potatoes were good. The brownie dessert was good. I would go somewhere else then here when I return. read more

Review for dinner experience. This was probably one of the top dining experiences I had in Hawaii. Hands down the service was impeccable from waiting to be seated to checking out. It was fast service! We didn't have to wait long for each course. The staff was super friendly and really made you feel welcomed and not rushed. I believe it was the manager but he came to our table greeted us and offered to take several family photos and was just an overall delight. Our waitress checked on us frequently as well. We booked for Wednesday night dinner reservation for 5:30. We arrived about 10 minutes before and only had to wait 5 min or so to be seated. We were seated in the inside - although patio would have been nice I was glad since it was a bit windy. The interior was spacious and open and colorful. They spaced each party out which I thought was nice. Food I'd give a 5/5. For $70 a person I felt we got what we paid for. The dishes were not only presented in appetizing way but the taste matched the look. Tomato soup was very comforting. I like the texture not too runny and not too chunky. They offered a small grilled cheese triangle - I would have liked more but the rolls they provided made up for it. The rolls were soft and chewy and perfect for dipping. I got the local catch which they advised would have a peppery sauce and may be spicy but I felt I could go for more heat (personal preference). I devoured the entire plate and perfect pairing with couscous. My other party members did not finish their entrees as it was a lot of food. Drinks were super yummy and pretty. Just the right about of sweetness, tart and alcohol. Now desserts were incredible. I got the roasted pineapple cobbler and it was very unique texture. I feel like I should have gotten a coffee to go with it as the crumble was a little bit on dry side for me and the pineapple wasn't as juicy as some other cobblers I had (cherry, berries). It felt like some of the juice got absorbed in the macadamia nuts/crust (?) But the haupia gelato is a star on its own - so refreshing and not too sweet! If looking for character dining, go to Makahiki. We were able to meet Mickey and Minnie, Stitch, and Pluto. They did a great job organizing a photo shoot with the honorary hosts. We were able to get great pictures with them! The esthetics wasn't so bad, from detailed wall decor and rustic island tables. It gave me vintage vibes. It would be nice if they add natural lighting. Felt more like dinner than breakfast morning. In general, the live ukele singer was truly a treat. Mahalo on a great performance. As for the dishes, the loco moco was filling and it could be shareable. The pancake was delish however it may not be shareable depending on your appetite. The omelet was also hefty and shareable. We've been coming to Aulani for the past 5 years and every year we give this place another try. We always book a 1bedroom villa and stay a minimum of 7-10 days. Out of the 5 times we've came we've only had 1 cast member with great service from this restaurant. The servers are mostly rude and do not demonstrate the Disney personalities we've normally grown to love. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant unless you have children under the age of 7 wanting to meet the characters. For a 300 dollar bill I would expect at least a kind interaction from our server. Don't worry the other cast members outside of this restaurant are much better. The food was good but this will be the last attempt with this restaurant because of the rude service from our waitresses. read more

We came here to celebrate a birthday. We reserved for a party of 7 for 5:45pm and had no wait time once checked in. We were greeted by friendly host and staff while walking to our table. The ambiance was very nice and felt fancy with a pinch of local vibes. As we browsed through the menu, we are able to choose a starter, entree and dessert for the three course menu ($70). Before starting off our course menu, we ordered some drinks. I went with the tropical itch ($15) and the other half got the true blue Hawaii ($15). Both drinks came out fairly quick. The tropical itch was pretty good and a bit strong. I did like the true blue better but both are enjoyable to drink, especially with good company. Now it was time to order some food. For starters I went with the corn soup and the other half got the Caesar salad. I opted for the rib eye steak (14 oz!) and chose the chimichurri sauce and the other half got the shrimp and fettuccine. We skipped dessert for now since we were indecisive. Starters: The corn soup was refreshing. I was expecting it to be like corn chowder with corn floating around but I was pretty impressed. The Caesar salad was no different than any other Caesar salad. Their croutons felt stale or just didn't have a crunch to them. Not sure if it was supposed to be like that. It was flavorful though. Entree: Time for the good part. First off the ribeye was huge. Bigger than i expected! The steak was plated with mushrooms, broccolini and potato purée. My steak was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The chimichurri sauce also went well with the steak. It was flavorful and not to overpowering. The mushrooms were good and I wished there was more than 2 pieces. The fettuccine was good. You can add on extra cheese and chili pepper flakes that they provide on the side. The shrimp was a decent size. Not to small but not jumbo as well. After the entree we were pretty stuffed. I managed to clean my plate but I still had some room for dessert. Dessert: Since we had a large party, we decided to share all 3 desserts. We got the roasted pineapple cobbler, waialua chocolate toffee brownie and the Kona coffee cheesecake. Again, quick service and dessert came out quick. We also got an extra dessert for our birthday celebrant. My favorite was the Kona coffee cheesecake. It was so soft and the Oreo cookie crust just went so well together. The brownie was warm and with perfect with the dulce de leche ice cream. The pineapple cobbler was also served warm and adding the haupia gelato with every bite was chefs kiss. We weren't able to finish all the dessert but luckily we were able to take some home for us to enjoy later. Overall, great experience! Loved the staff as they always checked up on us. I had the 3 course dinner with my boyfriend. Overall, the food was great but not spectacular. To start, the Casear salad and caprese sald were good. Our entres were good but not amazing. The NY Strip Steak tasted like a pretty solid steak, but it didn't exceed our expectations. We wished they had had chimichurri sauce but they didn't have it anymore. The fries were not good - it was thin and a bit flavorless for me. My boyfriend liked the fries though. The steak sauces were good but not amazing. The catch of the day was Ahi steak, which cut very nicely, and it was tender. I really liked the green tea fried rice. Again, not the best ahi steak - i liked Monkeypod's ahi steak much better. The highlight of this meal was the jumbo shrimp -- but you have to pay an extra $20something for it... anyway it was amazing. Is the shrimp in Hawaii just different??? They were SO good. It tasted so fresh, and the garlicy sauce on it was AMAZING. We dipped the NY strip steak into the jumbo shrimp sauce and it was chef's kiss. We went here for the character dining for the kiddos and we had a great experience. The second you sit down they already plate you with our favorite sugary powdered hawaiin donut, and it's followed up by a colored fruit bowl. The characters walk around and interact and take pictures with you and the children. My loco moco was very good. The rice was even flavorful and complimented the gravy. My wife ordered an omelette. Not to be biased, but Disney always surpasses my expectations! First, this restaurant is located in Aulani Disney Resort. I love how the restaurant isn't overly Disney decorated. They have character breakfasts in the mornings, but at night they serve a pre fixe 3 course meal without the characters, perfect for date night! I ordered the corn soup, shrimp pasta, and chocolate mousse for my meal. The corn soup was to die for! So creamy, sweet, and delicious! The shrimp pasta was also very good! Big plump shrimp is always a great entree! This restaurant was one of my favorites during my trip to Hawaii. Great quality food and genuine customer service! I noticed servers all around stopping by tables to make small talk, ask where everyone is from, and also engage with kids. We did a character breakfast. As of Nov. 2023, characters come out only at breakfast time. We were 10 min. late and we were the last customer for breakfast time. The front desk was nice, Mickey was waiting for us to greet and take pictures. I asked for some different shots and dance moves for my video. Mickey and the cast members are nice to accommodate my requests. Inside you get to see Minnie and take pictures. Our server was very friendly and she did a great job of making sure we are happy and enjoying. We got to meet Pluto, Stitch as well as Mickey, and Minnie. They all came at least 2 times and played with us! The food was good. It was a filling breakfast. I love their malasadas. It is worth the price! The setting was pleasant , with nice murals on the walls and views of the property. We dressed up a bit knowing it is a more upscale meal. The server was very kind and we enjoyed talking with her about things to see and do in the area. I ordered a beer and it was nice and cold. I had seared ahi tuna for my entree and it was good. I was mostly just disappointed in the cost. A $150 meal was $300 for our family of 5 (3 small kids). Two of the kids had very small personal pizzas, which only cost a few dollars to produce. It was a nice one time experience but I would not return merely because I felt like a sucker paying that much money. read more

Makahiki is the main restaurant located in Disney's Aulani resort. This is the place where they have the character breakfast. There have been some changes since the start of Covid two years ago, including the character breakfast is no longer a buffet/all you can eat, and the characters do not come around table side. You still get the opportunity to have a family photo with Mickey Mouse, however he is in a roped off area behind you, but still present in the photo. After your photo session with Mickey Mouse, you are seated at your table. Pluto and goofy were present, but they do not come and walk around the tables as was previous. Also the character breakfast used to be daily every morning, but now only on certain days. The character breakfast is now a set menu including pastry items, a fruit place and then a choice of one breakfast entrée, which could be pancakes, French toast, omelette, eggs your way, smoked salmon bagel. It does include juice and coffee. It's still a really fun breakfast and our server was Ku'u. She was extremely friendly and helpful. My son had ordered the kids waffles, but did not like it so she was able to bring him out pancakes instead. Really friendly service which is what you expect from Disney. Expensive, but worth the smiles on the kids faces!! read more

Took the kids here for dinner to check out the Aulani Resort that we were staying near. We have stayed here before and ate here when this restaurant was a buffet. No after Covid it serves a 3 course Pre Fixe menu. Service was fantastic as you would expect from a Disney resort. The food was very tasty and I like the 3 course menu over the Buffet that they had before. I would have liked to seen another option for a starter. Otherwise the food selection was pretty decent. I thought the catch of the day (Ahi) was fantastic. My Kona Coffee Cheesecake was to die for. Wish I had ordered coffee with it but I was stuffed. read more

CHARACTER BREAKFAST Spontaneously decided to walk-in for brunch one morning. When we arrived at valet, we explain to the staff that we are trying to walk-in to the restaurant. They understood it was highly likely we weren't going to get in so they let us leave the car at the valet desk and waited for us to tell them if we were going to get in or not before we had to pay for them to valet the car for 5 minutes. At the restaurant, there is a long line you might assume is for walk-ins but it's not. Just go straight to the host desk and ask if they have any openings. The wait for us was only an hour so we took it. The long line is actually for those with reservations waiting to check-in. So hop in line maybe 10 minutes before your reservation time to time it perfectly. After you check-in then you wait in a queue and are then called to see the characters. After the photo ops, you are seated at your table. Our 3-course meals consisted of pastries, fruits, loco moco, and dessert. All throughout brunch, characters come around and interact with each table. It was a good experience for the price but what I would suggest is they make signs telling people where to go and what line to stand in to avoid any misunderstandings as there are many protocol to go through and it does get very busy. Been to Makahiki many times over the years and have never been disappointed. Service is top notch and you have the best views of the Waikolohe Valley. The photos accompanying this review are from the 2023 New Years Eve Dinner Menu. That dinner was amazing and the regular menu is just as good. My only issue is that I hope one day this place goes back to being the buffet style dining spot like it was originally before 2020. read more

We've been lucky enough to enjoy a few meals here. We've had about six months or so between visits and it's probably just enough time to feel like you miss it and to appreciate some of the small changes every time we've gone I felt like there was just something a little bit new that made the experience, unique, and worth booking again. I think it's a great portion size I'm absolutely stuffed by the end of the breakfast, and usually have some to go. Service is always so attentive and go above and beyond you - get your main cast member, but honestly, they all seem to check up on you if they're even a little bit nearby. On our recent visit in December 2023 the change that we saw was that they swapped the assortment of pastries and have replaced it with a warm and fresh Malasada - this was such a fun treat. Another thing is that they don't give you a small bowl of fruit any longer. Instead, you get a fruit parfait ours had a pineapple base. I'm not sure if it's always going to be pineapple, but it was yummy and the granola even had bits of mochi mixed in. I've had waffles in the past and a few of their omelettes, but on this visit, I went for the loco moco at Minnie's recommendation - and it was delicious. I love that they use a fried rice as the base. The characters were so fun and just as fun was our waitress, Lilioukalani. All of her recommendations were on point you can tell that she is such a foodie. She really helped to make the experience great! read more

What a treat to be in Hawaii and the beautiful Disney Aulani and a better treat to be dining at Makahiki. The prix fixe menu worth $70 a person is well worth it. All our dishes came out tasting great. The servings are good and you will not leave hungry. We brought our own Napa Valley wine to share and there is a corkage if $25. Makahiki is a great place to grab breakfast while staying at Aulani or when your in the area. What makes it even better is during breakfast time you get to experience a character breakfast. The characters were very interactive and made the experience amazing. They even came around more than once. Our server Jason was awesome. He was so friendly and personable. He answered any questions we had and made really good recommendations. We ended up going with his recommendations and didn't regret it. The restaurant is a beautiful Hawaiian themed and sitting outside is my favorite because of all the gorgeous foliage that surrounds the outside seating. For starters you are giving a basket of pastries. All the pastries are delicious and our favorite was the guava pastry. They even brought out more upon request. Our second course was an assortment of fruits. All the fruits were very fresh my favorite was the pineapple. For entrees we had the loco moco, kid's Mickey and Minnie waffles and the kid's eggs with bacon. The loco moco was so delicious! The yolk from the eggs mixed with the beef and portuguese sausage rice made for a flavor-bomb in your mouth. My kids enjoyed the Mickey and Minnie waffles and the eggs with bacon, you can't go wrong with those choices for the little ones. For drinks we had pog juice, a Bloody Mary and pog juice spiked with Tito's vodka. Those drinks gave us a good kick start to the morning. I absolutely love drinking pog juice while in Hawai'i. This was my second time going to this restaurant and it won't be my last. I enjoy my experience every time. read more

Still no buffet but still definitely a fan! This past weekend we did both the character breakfast and the dinner and learned some pretty cool things. Certain beverages like the soda and juice come with the meal and include free refills. So I might have gone a little bit crazy trying the different fruit juices (POG, apple, orange, pineapple) at breakfast. This is cool when you consider how much it costs for a itty bitty cup of juice in Waikiki. Our server was great in bringing refills plus we could even ask other servers for refills as they passed by! We were able to do side orders of the cinnamon bun french toast which was great. We also learned that you can actually do side orders of the soup at dinner! Which is great if you are like me and have a hard time deciding. Oh and were able to do with a side order of french fries that came out perfect. On my bucket list is the character breakfast at "Makahiki -- The Bounty of the Islands" @disneyaulani !! Uninterrupted & longer characters Interactions w/o long lineups are the main benefits of characters breakfast!! The bonus was their food was also outstanding & absolutely enjoyable!! We were greeted by Mickey, Chef Goovy before we entered the restaurant. Shortly after we sat down, Pluto came by few times and finally the mischievous Stitch joined us!! We were served w/: fresh fruit & pineapple juice crunchy n absolutely delicious pastries Cinnamon French toast with bacon -- w/ some honeyed crunchy walnuts on top Hawaiian Style Loco Moco -- house made hamburger steak, poached eggs, spam fried rice, Maui onion gravy-- pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this dish so much with fresh ingredients, tasty gravy paired so well with this dish with a bed of spam fried rice. Savored every single bite! Butter milk pancakes with macadamia nut-Tahitian vanilla sauce -- The pancakes were fluffy & the macadamia nut sauce made it super heavenly!! This seemed to be the only restaurant that was open while we were in Aulani in August 2021 but we had several good meals there, so it is a good option. We attended the character breakfast where we had the opportunity to get professional photos taken with Mickey and Minnie. Had I known this, I would have dressed for the occasion! Good thing I looked decent and the photos came out ok, and I bought one for $45 with digital downloads of all the photos. Disney knows how to get you to spend money, I tell ya. The first night we arrived, we were too tired to seek other options, and they offered outdoor seating with live Hawaiian music. Very dreamy voice while we enjoyed chicken fingers, fries, salad, sushi rolls and miso soup. The food outside was ok appetizer food. The next morning was the character breakfast, and it consisted of a small basket of freshly baked goods, fruit plate and a choice of breakfast. I am so glad I chose the Loco Moco! We had just spent over a week in Honolulu without trying Loco Moco and it was my last chance! This Loco Moco had fried rice, which made it tastier than other Loco moco (I actually got a chance to try another one at another restaurant a few days later). If you go for the breakfast here, I highly recommend the Loco Moco (reminded me of the rich obnoxious guy in White Lotus). We also had the opportunity to have the three course dinner with appetizer, entree and dessert. The food was great. Very good service and the waitress had a flower in her hair that I saw were all over Hawaii but no one knew the name. I asked her what it was, and she said that it was Tahitian gardenia. I recently came back from a vacation in Hawaii and stayed at Aulani. Our first night there we ate at Makahiki. The restaurant was beautiful while listening to live music right outside. The staff was very entertaining and making us laugh. She brought out a back scratcher along with a drink called the Itch. Hilarious. The food was delicious. read more

We had a 3 dinner course and it is priced at $65 per adults and $29 kids under the age of 9. Dinner is from 5PM-8:30PM. For that price, I think it isn't that bad, we had a great time and our food was great. Cocktails were sooo good! Had the character breakfast and dinner and honestly wasn't really impressed with either. Not horrible but food wasn't up to par with price or typical Disney standards. We do characters breakfast at Disneyland a lot and this just felt lackluster. There were only 3 characters and they came by our table 4-5 times each but honestly how many interactions can you have with Stitch. And unlike other Disney character dining the picture at the beginning with Mickey wasn't included so it just felt like being nicked and dimed. I would have rather just had the breakfast cost slightly more to have that included. I doubt we'd do breakfast here again if we came back and we always do character breakfast on our monthly trips to Disneyland. Dinner actually made me have stomach issues and tasted like reheated frozen foods. read more
