Only negative, I don't live in Memphis BUT you can order online, which I definitely will. I know why they're world famous now, and totally deserve that. My gang wanted something sweet but not necessarily some cake so we decided to make a stop here. I have to say I was a little skeptical because of the tragedy that happened here however the customer service of this black owned business totally made up for that. As soon as you stop into this business, it's almost as if you have stepped back into time. What I mean by that is the smell of baking butter hits you like a truck. That smell takes you back in time so when you were a kid and your mom was making a cake or something. That smell just brought back beautiful memories. The lady at the counter is one of the owners I think it's a mom and pop establishment. She was so welcoming to us when we entered the store. She greeted us with love. This is rare! She genuinely seemed happy to see us as if she knew us. We automatically started ordering cookies, and more cookies, and more cookies. Not only did we order cookies we also ordered sweet potato pie. I am so upset with myself that I did not get more than one slice. We wanted some peanut butter cookies as well but they didn't have any out in the display. Her husband was filling the display and we asked him did he have any in the back. He said yes I do. Eventually she asked us where we were from because she could tell we were not from Memphis. We told her we were from Atlanta. She advised that they were thinking about opening up a store here in Atlanta but in due time. We will definitely visit again if ever in Memphis. This is a Memphis staple! The business is owned by a wonderful couple and is named in honor of their late daughter. There's a reason their cookies are so famous - they taste homemade and high-quality at the same time! We felt so welcomed and loved by the owner, and loved trying a few of the cookies. On a recent trip to Memphis, my son and nephew had one request. They wanted to come to Makeda's Cookies not only for the cookies, but also see the Young Dolph tribute inside the store. This was one of his favorite cookie spots and unfortunately his life was taken right outside of the store as well. The store sits on the corner of a little shopping strip. Parking was easy. Customer service was ok. We got chocolate chip, peanut butter, sensual strawberry and the famous butter cookies. The cookies itself looked great and my brain was telling me they were going to be nice and soft. In reality these cookies are more on the hard side. Followed only by her daughters place downtown, but these are my favorite, and this location is super convenient for me to get to. I live in Alabama, so I placed my cookie order online on Wednesday. A couple of hours later, I received an email stating that my order had shipped, along with tracking information. Unfortunately, I had some delays with my FedEx shipment (I received my order over a week late). I reached out to the business owner and spoke with Raven. Although it wasn't her fault, she was very apologetic and accommodating. She's the epitome of Southern hospitality. She offered to send me a fresh batch of cookies. Fast-forward to when I received my order, and I got my original order, and they even threw in a few extra cookies. These cookies are incredibly good. The cookies are individually wrapped, so they're very fresh. The quality is unmatched. They literally melt in your mouth once you take a bite. If you know these are the cookies Young Dolph loved the chocolate chips. I got 2 butter cookies,2 chocolate chips,2macadamia nut and 6 peanut butter cookies for my dozen. I'm going to give my mom some she loves peanut butter cookies. I purchased it was $40.00 for the cookies and like $6.00 for shipping. My sister lives in Madison TN. It might be better to go in person and get some from the grocery store in Memphis for $5.00 butter cookies. Quality is great. I think the cost of a dozen cookies is around $20.00 I think it is like maybe $18.00 on the website. The cookies are great I might try the other flavors I didn't get this time in the future. We definitely bit off more than we could chew but out of the dozen we got my favorites were the #1 iced oatmeal and #2 strawberry (and I don't even like iced cookies/icing). The banana pudding is better than most I've tried. I'm real particular about my banana pudding bc nothing ever beats my mom's style (thin liquidy pudding with soft yet firm cookies). My family is from Bermuda and I always thought of selling their famous butter cookies. Now I found Makeda's cookies. The first time I ordered both butter and chocolate chip cookies, a dozen each for Christmas. They are pretty expensive if you order online versus going to the store or Krogers. I live in NYC, so no Kroger's here, so I had to order online. The chocolate chip cookies were just ok but those butter cookies gave me new life. I can make them since I know my family's recipe, which is the same as Makeda's. I'm just being lazy not to make myself, so I ordered again at $40 per dozen. That's a crazy price. But the second time the cookies did not taste as good as the first batch I got. Not sure what happened but at that price I wont risk it again. I will bake my own this weekend. read more

Well, after my son and his dad traveled to Nashville, on their way back to Dallas,TX they finally were able to get some cookies.
