Also, this is not my first make up artist I've hired so I have done this multiple times all without hiccups. My prior make up artists were in the bay area or LA area. This was the worst experience ever. I submitted a yelp submission back in October for my graduation ceremony on 12/14/23. The contact information has name, email, what type of an event, date of the event, phone number, location address. My email, phone number and location address are all correct. Shana wrote a draft response on 10/27/23 but left it in her drafts. She finally sent me a reply on 10/30/23. I reply same day on 10/30/23 asking for a 10:00 am appointment. Shana replies on 11/01/23 asking if I can do 11:00 am. I respond on 11/01/23 with a yes and ask if anything else is needed. Shana replies on 11/01/23 putting me down for 12/14 @ 11:00 am offering hair services as well. I response on 11/02/23 asking to please book both. I receive no response after. I email on 12/05/23 asking if she received my earlier email and asked for a confirmation of the make up session on 12/14. Shana emails me on 12/07/23 with time and date and finally rate. On the day of my appointment as I am getting ready to go to her studio she emails me on 12/14/23 saying she "assumed" I don't need services. I send three emails and have called but she did not answer. #1 My understanding is that a make up artist goes to the location address inputted. Also, prior make up artists I have hired have done so. But apparently not at this one. #2 If you really wanted to do make up at 11:00 am you would have answered the phone. It would have been better if you just were honest and told your clients you couldn't do their make up. #3 There are technology issues. Hiring an assistant or using a different way to schedule would work. Who knows how many others had issues like this. I find it odd there aren't any real recent reviews as well. I did not want that and was worried I would not find someone like that. My friend forwarded Angelina's yelp page to me and as I looked at the photos uploaded, I was pleasantly surprised. I quickly reached out to her and her response to me was within a reasonable time. Months prior to my wedding, whenever I had questions and asked her, she was able to answer me. Comes a day before the wedding and she gave me a quick reminder of my appointment. Very kind of her. Gave her the address to my hotel and my room number, and the next morning, she arrived on time. I was still getting ready with my mom and she was able to wait a bit for us to get settled in and set up her stuff. It was my first time seeing her and her first time working with my hair and face. Due to budget restrictions, I was not able to do a trial run with her. She asked me what make up and hair style I liked and she was able to execute what I wanted within 2 hrs of time. She also did my mom's make up and finished everything on time. She was super duper kind to both me and my mom. Made good conversation with us while doing our make up and my hair. When I was done, she showed me how I looked and I was so shocked to how beautiful I looked. My parents, brother, and guests all said I looked very natural and beautiful. My husband who saw me during the first look could not look away and also said I looked beautiful. He was so satisfied with it! Angelina is reasonably priced, quick, and does an amazing job. Overall, a good experience and would recommend to everyone needing make up and hair done. Would book her again for a special event. I even tested crying in my makeup (just in case!) and it held up hours later. It was storming morning of my wedding reception but Lisa stayed in contact the day before and arrived right on schedule day of. She did hair and makeup for me, my sister, and my husband. I watched for months, studied the styles, and finally decided to pull the trigger. From the moment I reached out, the team was helpful, clear, and direct, which I immensely appreciate. I won't lie, the price did give me a little sticker shock at first. But then I remembered: this is a tattoo... on your face. And when you factor in: 1. The quality and expertise of the artists 2. The high-end products they use and how long it lasts 3. The time, money, and daily frustration it saves you PLUS the fact that it won't smudge or wash off in water... It was a no-brainer. My first appointment went great. The artist really took time to assess my face and skin type, and we decided on the Ombre Brow technique. I've never looked back! Now I go in every 2 to 2.5 years for a refresh and see Sara, who I absolutely adore. She's patient, detailed, and always makes sure I'm happy with the shape and color before we start. Now, let's talk pain. Yes, it's a tattoo on your face, so no, it's not completely painless. The outline and initial scratching definitely sting. But after that, numbing cream is applied and it's honestly not bad. It is more pressure than pain. Full review: As a bride who doesn't typically wear makeup or do anything with her hair, the idea of finding someone to do hair and makeup and then having it be hundreds of dollars was difficult for me. I've heard (and seen) how some wedding makeup could easily go wrong, so I knew I was looking for two things: I wanted someone who was familiar with a variety of skin tones and who specializes in more of a natural look. Affordability was also a must as I knew I wanted to pay for at least makeup for all my bridal party. At first glance, the pricing seemed a little high, which I understood since she comes with a lot of experience. I spent a lot of time reviewing and deliberating if I could afford/wanted to spend that much on hair and makeup. Christi and I then discussed what I really wanted done, who else needed hair/makeup done, and how I could work within her packages + add ons price structure to have the services I wanted while staying within my budget. Christi was very easy to talk to and we were able to work it out. She even offered to do complimentary touch ups on my mom (who insisted on doing her own makeup) to help elevate her look, to which my mom accepted. The Trial is a must. I'm sure everyone tells you this, but do the trial. The trial went well, but it was definitely needed. It gave me an opportunity to talk to Christi about what I wanted and what I liked/disliked. It also gave her an opportunity to see what did and didn't work with my hair. Not going to lie, the trial makeup was beautiful but not perfect. You could see a little bit of darkness under my eyes (mostly from wiped away makeup) and she used a lip color I had brought but didn't love. I talked to Christi about this and she reassured me that neither would be an issue on wedding day. Just in case, I made sure to bring a couple different lip options for the wedding, but she had her own and it looked great. She also gave me a little lip present to keep and use throughout the day. I was also worried about my hair holding since it typically doesn't, but both the makeup and hair lasted all night! One more thing to add that was a really great about Christi, she stayed until after the ceremony. A lot of hair and makeup artists leave right after you're done getting ready in the morning. She didn't. She met us at the hotel and did the bulk of it there, and then she traveled to our venue to do finishing touches after we were all in our dresses. THEN she did additional touch ups after our ceremony and helped me replace my veil with a bow. Overall, that helped so much with the nerves and everything. Oh, and everything was right on schedule! First off, Jesse was the key reason why the shoot had such a calm and fun atmosphere. He was incredibly professional and personable. He made every single person on set feel welcome. He had an amazing ability to stay out of the crew's way yet when I felt I needed him, he was somehow right next to me. His work was beyond what I could ask for with the little time I was able to give him. We had changed mid-shoot and he was very flexible, solutions-oriented, and just was loved by all. He was always 5 minutes early, always prepared, and I will be hiring Jesse every chance I get and cannot recommend enough.
