TLDR; (See bottom for summary). Want to be disappointed on the day of your wedding? If so, then you've come to the right person. Let's start off by dusting off the positive reviews because Preston LOSES credibility in ALL aspects of his business. The lack of ownership for the work he presents, the recommendations (even from family) and the positive reviews he receives... ALL LIES. Imagine planning an entire wedding for over a year, having all your vendors in place, confirming everything left and right, not once, BUT MULTIPLE TIMES, and only to receive the short end of the stick. My wife presented Preston with many photos of potential hairstyles for her bridesmaids, which were approved by him via text (Yes, I helped plan the wedding). Come the day of the wedding, Preston's hairstylist was unable to follow through on the hairstyles presented prior to the wedding day resulting in hairstyles I could have done if you gave me a video from youtube, a couple hour, 5 bottles of hair spray and a blowdryer/curler. Pretty much, his lack of professionalism resulted in him hiring someone who was inexperienced to take on the job (RED FLAG). To make the situation worse, my mother in law's touch up was cancelled last minute. I only found out by receiving a text from my wife saying that the make up guy is cancelling last minute (30 minutes before his appointment time). It was clear from the start that all communication from our vendors were to contact our wedding coordinator. He totally disregarded that only to cause more stress to the situation (Yes, Chinese weddings can be hectic/stressful). Summary (in all seriousness). - Preston presents as someone who is talented, but NOT reliable (In our situation he wasnt, but you can decide for yourselves) - Unable to assemble a team to carry out hairstyles wanted. - Risk the chance of a last minute cancellation (Increased stress) My opinion: -Not worth everyone's headache. I have to write this review to warn brides looking to get their makeup done by Preston, BE AWARE OF CANCELLATIONS! My sister spent months looking for the right MUA for her wedding, along with a hairstylist. She chose Preston to do our mom's makeup, as well as one of the bridesmaids. We thought that Preston would hire a hairstylist that was capable of doing the desired hairstyles, but we were WRONG. Hailey, the hairstylist that worked with Preston, styled the mother of the brides' hair and the bridesmaids. Preston and my sister previously communicated on what hairstyles were suppose to be done on the day of the wedding. My sister told Preston that she wanted an updo hairstyle for my mom and the bridesmaids. To our surprise, Hailey showed up and couldn't do the updo hairstyles! She didn't even have the materials to put up the hair. This was so disappointing because the other bridesmaids had updo hairstyles, styled by a separate stylist (not associated with Preston). Lastly, Preston is very unprofessional. He was scheduled to touch up the mother of the bride, and cancelled 30 minutes before due to being ill. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. So even if Preston was ill, I think that it's really unprofessional for him to contact the BRIDE about him not showing up. He could have contacted the wedding coordinator and she could have dealt with it! No bride should have to experience even more stress on her wedding day! I cannot be more shocked and disappointed about how the situation unfolded on my sister's wedding day. read more

So disappointing! So UNPROFESSIONAL! When I first hired Preston for our wedding day, I was excited because I saw his previous work. Little did I know when it came the big day, it really wasn't going to be HIS work. Preston previously asked for pictures of the mothers and bridesmaids so that he could be prepared for hair and makeup. I also sent him detailed pictures of the exact looks of hair and makeup. Preston approved it and even explained another hair stylist was going to be able to do the hairstyle for the rest of the girls. Come day of, Preston brings a "hairstylist" by the name of Hailey. Every single girl that Hailey styled, she complained and explained why she couldn't do the hairstyle. The hairstylist that styled me (not associated with Preston at all) even tried to give Hailey some pointers. But Hailey basically failed every single hair style. We basically just got charged for getting the bridesmaids' and mom's hair curled. Throughout the whole time that we were trying to figure it out and explaining to Hailey our disappointment, Preston was just quiet and unhelpful. How can Preston unfairly hire someone who basically had no hair experience and took no responsibility for the poor job she did. She even had the audacity to charge us for updos after failing all of them and just having the girls curl their hair. To make matters worse, Preston canceled last minute on my mom's touch up. I understand that people get sick. He claimed he was sick, but the way he handled it was so wrong. He called me, the bride, 30 minutes before the touch up appointment to say he can't make the appointment. I actually had a wedding coordinator and all the vendors had my bridesmaid's number for emergencies. He failed to respect that. I found out he was going to go to Vietnam the next couple days. This was interesting information because my friend that booked him for her wedding also had an extremely disappointing experience. He canceled on her two weeks before the wedding due to his Vietnam trip. Do not book Preston! read more

I will preface my review by saying, in the end, Preston did a great job. My birdesmaids, my mom, and I all looked fantastic for my wedding. The reason I'm not giving Preston a good review is that his communication and work ethic are terrible. The day before my wedding he changed our meeting time at the last minute. Then on the day of my wedding, he was FORTY minutes late. That is, forty minutes late from the new time he insisted on, which was already 30 minutes later than the original time we agreed on months ago. Forty minutes is an unacceptable amount of time to be late, ESPECIALLY for a wedding. This set us behind for our entire photography schedule and made the first few hours of my wedding extremely stressful. I guess it shouldn't have been that much of a surprise since, throughout our entire work encounter, Preston's communication has been terrible. Whenever I contacted him I waited days, sometimes weeks, for a response. Most of the time I had to message him several more times, after waiting weeks, before he responded. Bottom line: Preston does a fantastic job with hair and makeup. I cannot fault his work. But after what happened on my wedding day and the days leading up to it, I cannot recommend him to other brides. read more

Preston is definitely nice. He did a decent job during our trial run. One of my lashes was a bit crooked though, and the hair didn't hold completely in the back along the left side, but he stated it's most likely because my hair was a little oily that day. All in all, it was very good work! I originally gave 3 stars because I paid the deposit as well as the trial to lock his help in on my big day, but he wasn't responding to my texts, emails, or phone calls while I was only one month away from my event and needed to know if he can travel to do the hair and makeup at my house. No responses left me worried he would even show up. But he finally responded after I got in touch with his assistant, Quyen, who is very quick in responding and is very friendly and helpful. Thus, I'm updating this review, as I don't feel his work deserves 3 stars, but 4 stars currently since professionalism in responding to customers needs to be considered here as well.
