I will not be returning to maki maki. While I absolutely love the food at maki maki, in fact, it has been one of my favorite places to eat in all of bend since they opened, after the experience i just had, i wont be back. I had a crazy interaction with the two people running the cart who were both incredibly rude. Specifically the lady that was working at the time. I ordered the wrong menu item and when I admitted my mistake and asked to get the other item I meant to order, the lady scoffed in my face and shut the window on me. I even said "you can be nice about it" wich she then YELLED at me that it was "my fault" as I walked away with my food IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS. Very sad how people can be so quick to jump to negativity and anger. Maki employees if your reading this, i think you'll find your lives to be much easier if you choose kindness. This review is long overdue as I have probably eaten here 20 times now, but I can say that Maki Maki is consistently delicious and some of the most legit sushi you will find here in Bend. The rice-to-fish ratio is spot on (they don't use a ton of rice on their rolls) so you really taste the flavor of the sushi as opposed to just filling up on rice. My favorite rolls are the Edison and Sunshine rolls, both of which are gluten-free. They have also accommodated a GF salmon poke bowl, which had a delicious sweet sauce and loads of fish. Went to lunch with my daughter, son-in-law and their newborn. It was a beautiful day in Bend - 60-ish degrees and sunshine! We were craving sushi and thought it would be good to get some fresh air. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous about sushi from a food truck, but the reviews don't lie - and Maki Maki did not disappoint! (Might even have been fresher than some restaurants I've tried!) We ordered the shaggy dog roll, the crazy tuna roll, the hawaii roll (which my daughter loved!), the california roll (which had real crab), and a few pieces of nigiri (which was amazingly super fresh!). I was so pleasantly surprised! Bend has a few sushi places, but maki maki is worth the trip if you like sushi - especially if you want to enjoy the outdoors as well. read more

We stopped by for some dinner this weekend. Maki is in a cute little truck court in a good location with a decent amount of street parking. Business was steady but not slammed, and our food was ready pretty fast. We each ordered a roll (Hawaiian, sweet potato, avocado) and some crab Rangoon. The rolls were small, but what they lacked in size they made up for in taste...very yummy. The Rangoon were cooked perfectly with a nice amount of stuffing...again, very yummy. Sure, I would've liked to see larger pieces, but I wouldn't hesitate to return anytime I'm in town...highly recommend. read more

I'll admit to some hesitation concerning raw fish from a food cart but that's probably not based on any real issues. With the positive reviews for Maki Maki and that The Lot is one of my go-to beer drinking spots, I overcame my hesitation and got me some dang food truck sushi. Very glad I did. Yellowtail and salmon nigiri - excellent Spicy tuna roll - very good, could be spicier Prices are maybe a bit high but in these uncertain economic times, not out of line. Speaking of spicy, the little wasabi condiment packets available on the side of the truck are killer. Wasabi is something I use fairly often at home and almost always with sushi. Typical outdoor food cart seating. First come first serve. Not a huge seating area. The beer offered was craft and locally sourced (if you know Bend, you know that is a good thing). I got the Hazy and it was delicious, as always. I had been craving sushi, and when we knew we were coming to Summit High for a football camp, I knew right where I was going. This place was amazing. Food was quick and delicious. Spicy tuna roll was perfectly balanced, and not too spicy. You could tell it was fresh also. Hawaii roll was new to me. I got the California rolls here on the 5/28 and I am just now feeling better 4 days later. I definitely got some sort of food poisoning. Had to miss work and everything it was awful. Sorry, I didn't take photos. Loved this place. I had a crazy tuna roll (the peppered tuna on top tasted like steak) and the downtown roll (?) and both were delicious. We also started with the Yellowtail jalapeno which was beautifully presented. Next time I would add some ponzu over the top, a little splash. It was my first time at The Lot and loved the space. I've heard that it's really hard to find good sushi in Central Oregon, so I was excited to try this place out. I got the salmon poke bowl, and the fish was really good and fresh. My main complaint is that there was barely any rice, and what was there was completely drowning in sauce. It comes in a small to-go box, and while I appreciate that my food came out really quickly after I ordered it, I'm not sure that I'd order the poke bowl again. I was left feeling hungry afterwards which is disappointing for $17. read more

It was a decently busy night at The Lot but they gave us a buzzer and we had food in no time.
