This is a fun, evidently trending, restaurant in downtown Anderson. The menu selection is quite good. (I didn't post the menu because the online menu is better.) The sushi was delicious. I went with a friend for dinner on a Wednesday evening. It doesn't hurt to call ahead just to make sure you don't need reservations. We went specifically for the sushi. We decided to share four rolls. I chose the Ranger and the Philly roll. My friend chose the Rice Crispy and the fried California roll. My favorite was the Rice Crispy but they were all good. The service was excellent. They did have outdoor seating. If you like sushi, I definitely would give it a try. read more

First, we waited way too long on our food and then the food wasn't brought out together, we got one roll and like 20 min later we were still waiting on our other rolls. Ran out of my drink and had to wait. Food finally arrived and the chicken teriyaki was pretty disappointing as it was not cut into pieces and no knife was provided so my son had to cut it up with a butter knife and had way too much garlic on it. The portion sizes here are very small as well. The crab meat on the TNT roll was super fishy and we couldn't eat it. All in all, not terrible but I think this is our only visit here personally. This is our regular sushi spot. I should get more pics but I just happened to snap a few when we stopped in for a couple of bites during the Anderson Soirée. Food: Always excellent! They even have Uni!! We do a lot of traveling and that is usually the first question my hubby asks at any sushi place we go is "Do you have Uni?" We recently moved from Atlanta and to find it in small town Anderson is just wow. Uni is not my preference but it's one of my hubby's favs. Anyway, we've tried a variety of options from the menu and have always left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. The drinks are good the food is good. This is one of our hot spots for a reason. Service: Always had great service! Even when they were busy during the Soirée we sat at the bar for a couple of drinks and bites and had a great time! Ambiance: Nice ambiance, a lot of the restaurants around Anderson have similar vibes (which we love) and this is no exception. Everyone is friendly and there's always something happening. Tonight we had the Tonkotsu Ramen special. I'm a ramen geek and had high expectations because no one in Anderson SC has ramen. I would have to say it was very bad. Salty beef bouillon taste. No mouth feel and the toppings were bland. Egg was not marinated. Tasted like instant ramen consistency. To tell you the truth I've had much better instant ramen. The pork was good. Only good thing I can say. Not good ramen. I think it was 25.00 a bowl. Not happy with Maki which has a better reputation. read more

Dear Dana Left your restaurant tonight and had the worst experience because the staff wanted to stand around the bar and talk leaving this nearly empty restaurant customer to go to the sushi bar and get his own food after it sat on the counter for 15 minutes. It was shocking the long term employee, a short young man with beard and arm tattoos, moved my food and stood by talking and talking to the sushi bar staff. I asked why he didn't deliver my food to me and he said it wasn't his table. It was shocking our waitress Samantha was training a NEW HIRE to stand around the bar and talk. She knew my food was sitting there and didn't delivery it to me, for no good possible reason. I asked to speak to you Dana as the owner and thought you might be concerned that I left no tip at all because an empty restaurant at 5:16 PM proved the staff doesn't care. I was told in the past the crew pools the tips but was told tonight they do not pool the tips, justify the "not my table" lazy attitude. When pointing out these faults or errors I was repeatedly told I'm Sorry so incredibly void of feeling. A new low is customers having to self serve themselves. Expensive $100 dinners ruined by lousy staff. The front of house young women wearing the off the shoulder oversized sweater with exposed bar straps and the tattoo covered staff are not representative of fine dining experience. Nope. Will not be returning. Sorry Dana I wish you had come to talk to me instead of leaving me at the door and contacting you this way and warning other customers. Very good food and exceptional service by Ryan! We had dinner here while we were visiting South Carolina and we had such a great time. We went on a Thursday just before 8 and we were done by the time they closed, which is 9:00pm on Thursdays. Place is clean and staff are friendly. The service was superb. We ordered the seafood dynamite for appetizers and it was delicious. The rolls we ordered were very good, with the Dragon roll and Tiger roll tasting amazing and the Philly, Boston and Spider just ok but still good. I do not eat raw fish so my options were a bit limited but still good. Prices were average. We paid a little over $100 for 3 people and 7 rolls & appetizer. We will be retuning the next time we're in Anderson, SC. read more

I, like most of America, immediately jump to a head scratch when you hear- sushi in Anderson, SC. Well, slow down on moving that hair. We ordered edamame, steamed shrimp shumai, and four different rolls. The fish was very fresh and tasty- the spicy tuna that adorned the most expensive item was a miss. I ended up scraping it off. The menu had several choices- I will complain here that many of the specialty rolls came with "crab salad" which is non Japanese speak for that dread fake spray painted fish product shredded with mayo. Please just cost out the roll for a profit and delete that unappetizing slurry. I will pay for real fish- including fresh crab. There is a missing star because the service was very slowwwwwwww despite there being several employees and few customers. (That's the real head scratcher). read more

Then we found some very bad reviews on our first choice special occasion place that made us not want to take a chance. So we went to Maki as we knew it would be perfect in every sense. Ordered to go due to covid and my Original place was closed. The phone service wasn't the best. The Initial person would say they will take your order in a few minutes and transfer you. Both times I sat on for 10 plus minutes waiting to order. The sushi was good, not the best but good for local sushi. The people are what got it for me, they weren't the friendliest and enjoy giving good stares to your not "fancier" dressed customers. Seaweed salad - mounded tablespoon of seaweed in top of a small handful of spring mix salad that was dredged in a mouth puckering "dressing" of rice wine vinegar Lumpia - probably the one decent item of the night but literally just spring rolls cut on a bias Miso soup - Lukewarm. Flavorless Sweet potato roll - potato very underdone so it was starchy. Very poorly rolled with a lot of air space Veggie roll with tofu - completely flavorless and 20% larger than a standard roll making for an awkward bite Beef teriyaki - foul. The owner is one of them and you can see the level of attention he puts into the restaurant, it's visible on his face. The service was excellent. This place has the location. On Main Street. Looks real nice and clean inside. But it really missed the mark when it came to the quality of the sushi and the education/knowledge of the wait staff. Perhaps this place is good for the area. But if you've traveled around a lot and are familiar with sushi and the like then you'll notice this place is not up to what will be your expectations for a sushi joint. The wait staff didn't know what was a Temaki (hand roll), or what was fresh wasabi. The rolls were slightly smaller than what we've experienced elsewhere. I would think to attribute the current hi ranking star rating of this joint to perhaps many locals that simply don't travel much around the US.
