Recently I bought a rifle at the Fredericsksburg location, intending to pick up the weapon on 30 June. Upon arrival, my weapon was ready but the Va State Police check was not processed due to horrendous volume of checks being done before new VA laws went into effect on 1 July 2026. So, I had to go home, driving back 50 miles to where I live, and then returned a few days later when Sportsmans called me and told me my VSP check was complete. I picked up my weapon in a few minutes and went home, as these guys are very fast and efficient in their processes to buy guns. Two days after I got home, I received a credit for 50 dollars for my purchase, which I can assume was due to not getting my weapon when they told me to come to the store and pick it up. I did not ask for any refund nor did I suggest any, but Sportsmans gave me one anyway. This is the type of business model that makes life long customers and shows a level of caring about people that I do not see often in any business. Thanks for the 50 bucks and it was a pleasure doing business with this location. (in case anyone is wondering, I am a retired Fed with a LEOSA permit, so there is never any issue with a VSP check for a firearm purchase, with 47 seconds the least amount of time I had to wait for my check to clear the VSP).

I asked three different employees for help getting the binoculars since they were locked up. All three deferred to someone else. I left the store and went to Academy Sports down the street and bought the product. I had quite a few things in my basket that I wanted to buy from Sportsman's as well. But they found their way back to the shelf.

But my wife has recently become a "backpacker" and I wanted to get her fitted for a legitimate backpack so we made an exception to our black friday rule and went to the only place I would go to locally backpacking and other outdoor gear, River Rock Outfitter Even though the shop was filled with customers, Keith and April, the owners, immediately greeted us. When April finished with her customer she began the process for fitting my with a backpack. This process which included measuring her torso, what type of backpacking it was for day hikes or multiple day/night trips, types of weather, trying on multiple packs (with weigjts in the pack) took approximately 40 minutes, maybe more, but it was such a pleasant experience, it only seemed like minutes. My wife and April found the perfect pack but since it was not in the color my wife wanted, April placed in on order. We'll return in a day or two, try it on again and walk out with an early Christmas present for my wife we will now be able to share and enjoy many more years of backpacking together with a comfortable backpack. Reading the other reviews here, that appears to be routine rather than an off day. But that is not why I am writing this. I filled out a form containing my Social Security number, date of birth, and home address. It was left sitting out on an open counter, unattended. From across the store I saw another customer standing over it with his phone out, camera pointed down at my form. I walked over and took it back myself. No employee noticed any of it -- not the form sitting there, and not the stranger leaning over it. I don't know whether he photographed my information. Neither does this store, and that is exactly the problem. If I hadn't looked up when I did, everything needed to open credit in my name could have walked out the door and no one here would have known it happened. Worth noting: ATF states that the Social Security number on a 4473 is optional. This store collected mine anyway and then failed to secure it. Protecting a Social Security number isn't customer service. It's the baseline obligation a business takes on the moment it asks for one. I was willing to walk away and leave it there. Because this location has shown no willingness to address the situation at all, I have filed a complaint with the Virginia Attorney General's Consumer Protection Section and I am consulting an attorney about legal action. If you do business here, keep your own paperwork in your hands. Do not assume anyone behind the counter is watching it.

The staff looked all over, called the other store (they have two one downtown and one in Central Park) still couldn't locate the match. No biggie we found another pair he liked. A week later I got a call, they had located the match! They held it for us! Pretty legit customer service there! Their Central Park location has a gently used gear section with some amazing deals on everything shoes, boots , packs, sometimes tents, you never know!

Yep, tire flat. So I jump online to figure out what time this bike shop opens, 11AM. I call in case they do a seasonal shutdown and they confirm they are open for business. We are promptly served, about 5 folks working upfront. We are in/out within 30 minutes with a new tire tube installed plus some advice on future service I will need after I request an inspection for other defects. So I suspect I'll take my bike back at the end of this riding season or early Spring 2025. Their inventory is awesome. There was a customized none-motorized bike upfront waiting for pickup that cost $8K. Mine blowing! They have lots of e-bike too. They have lots of bikes, period. They have a small 2 seat waiting area with coffee service. I bought my bike from them, many moons ago and she's still in pretty good shape(except from being dirty I was told with a smile). The recommended future service stuff is low cost routine maintenance type stuff IMO.

I was contacted after the original due date to inform me of the additional length of time. Once the repair was completed, I needed an adjustment to meet my original specs. This adjustment was performed while I waited, which I was happy about. Lastly, the final cost was about 20% higher than the estimate. No explanation offered. Overall, the shop is cool, nice inventory, nice location, plenty of accessories, cool staff and a competent repair shop. Hours of operation are from 12-5 from M-Sat which doesn't fit a normal customer's work schedule at all. I had to either take off work or plan a Saturday around this repair. But having said that, I'm sure management has a good reason for these hours of operation.
