The service is average, friendly, but lacking in attention to detail. For example, the large bottle of water they leave on the table for self service was empty half way through the meal & they brought out our dinner plates before they cleared the table of salad and appetizer dishes. My daughter & I ordered the scallops, and because the menu specified U10 scallops I thought they would be the large ones. They were almost the size of a half-dollar and there were 3, for $37. The dish was weird with split pea puree in risotto and English peas on top. The scallops tasted fishy and were tough. It was disappointing. I wish I had ordered the cheeseburger. My husband ordered the pork dish and it was really good, but the potatoes were undercooked. I think the idea of the Indian influence is fun, but the execution needs a little more attention for the price point. We visited Makos on the Creek for brunch. They have a minimal brunch menu but the food is wonderful. We opted for the Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer and they were as delicious as they look, so flavorful and crispy! I had the eggs porky as my entree and it was full of flavor with a variety of layers. The mimosas are an added bonus for brunch with a variety of juice choices which is always nice. The dining area is beautiful with rustic finishes, nice natural light and plenty of seating inside and out. The service was great and they were very accommodating with their recommendations and accommodations for our party. It was a great experience and despite the distance from where I live, I will definately make the trip again. read more

Tonight my husband and I dined here and unfortunately left disappointed--not only with most of the food, but also with how our feedback was handled. The good: The beer selection was solid, and the cucumber margarita was genuinely delicious. The not-so-good: * Wedge Salad: The salad itself was fine, but the highlight--bacon--was extremely sparse. Six tiny squares were placed on the edge of the plate, which felt oddly rationed and not nearly enough to enjoy throughout the salad. * Mussels: This was the most concerning dish. We expected mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce, but instead received them in a buttery yellow-orange sauce with a very unpleasant odor. The smell was not "fishy" but something far more off-putting--honestly resembling manure. I've worked in the restaurant industry for years and don't send food back lightly, but this was not normal. The server said the smell was typical, suggesting vinegar may have made it "pungent." Ultimately, the manager told us we still needed to pay for the dish, which we did without argument, though the experience was disappointing. * Shrimp Appetizer: It was fine, but nothing memorable or worth raving about. * Burger: The patty was overcooked, the bun was dry, and the fries ended up being the best part--crispy and greasy. Overall, we were hoping for a much better experience. While the drinks were enjoyable, the food quality and response to legitimate concerns left a lot to be desired. read more

Yesterday, we had been @adobothrowdown and after the announcement of the winners, it was the end of the event. We decided to head to @makosonthecreek nearby to redeem the $100 gift card. So blessed! Happy hour is everyday from 4pm to 6pm and we made it in time. Selected drinks (including the Margarita and Classic Lime Daiquiri) and the Gouda Ranch Wedge were happy hour items we ordered. The wedge salad was great with egg crumbles and crispy pork belly. My husband had the Watermelon Mint Gazpacho and said it was spicy. I had wanted to try the Deep Fried Spanish Octopus and Seared Diver Scallops. The risotto was uniquely flavored. Dad had the Deep Fried Redfish Collars. This was like a Hamachi Kama and so good. My husband had the Citrus Herb Grilled Chicken, which was moist. Everything was fantastic and we took home leftovers. Unfortunately, no room for dessert. Between Mako's Texas Industrial ambiance and the friendly staff, you feel right at home as soon as you walk into this understated gem. We enjoyed the scallops and pork shoulder. The scallops were cooked perfectly. However, the mint risotto was not a great fit, and, at times, overpowered the subtle flavor of the scallops. The pork shoulder was seasoned with a mildly spiced rub that complimented the pork well. Our server, Isabel, was delightful. She was friendly, and engaging without being intrusive. My husband enjoyed his pork dish. My Hendricks gin martini perfect. His pork dish was delicious. My salmon was dry and over cooked and the vegetables were unseasoned. I was very unhappy. A good chef should know how to nit overcook salmon.. It was our 53rd wedding anniversary and I was unhappy. We asked to give our views to the manager. Jackie, the mgr was delightful and listened to our comments. The end result, we were listened to, and we felt heard. We will try a second visit for a Wed, trivia night. As a veteran, I will try another visit. Not ordering salmon! The Chef needs to learn to not overcook salmon and how to season vegetables. We came up from the South TX coast to visit family btw San Antonio & Austin so it was a good meeting point. Only thing we'd have liked better is the seating outside, there were 8 of us and they squished us into 1 long table without any suggestion from the waitstaff for additional chairs or solutions (split tables? Extra chair? We go for happy hour and stay for several hours and always order 99% of their appetizers-which are also phenomenal. The frites with the three dipping sauces, the salmon Tartar, the shrimp campenara, the Gouda ranch wedge, the deep fried Brussels, and the $5 happy hour drinks are all delicious. This intimate and cozy restaurant is locate about 10 minutes drive on 3009 after exiting I 35. The atmosphere is relax, slow key, and clean. The service was very friendly and efficient. Love the decorations. And most importantly the food was fresh, tasty, and delicious. And the prices were reasonable. Our third visit to Mako's confirmed that the quality is consistent. I had not ventured out to see Cibolo Creek, which lies at the bottom of the property but is not visible from the restaurant. I walked down the rustic staircase and found a dry riverbed. I was reminded of the tales I had heard from my close friend, a past mayor of Cibolo, of his childhood ventures along the creek. We found this new trendy spot in Cibolo, Texas. The host was very accommodating when we arrived, if you wanted to wear a mask then they wore mask and if you were comfortable and not wearing a mask then they would not wear a mask. He sat us all down as we were still waiting for three people from our party. Once our full party had arrived, we had to wait. Unfortunately the waitress took over 10 minutes to come to our table to at least offer some water. Overall our experience was very great! Unfortunately I did not take a lot of pictures because it was my sisters birthday. But I did manage to sneak in a picture of my cheeseburger which was very light. And I don't mean light in a bad way I mean it as in a satisfying way. Must try! Their cocktails are also very delicious. I had the cucumber margarita cocktail if I'm not mistaken, and it was very light and subtle at the same time. But boozy! The only part that I was not super happy with was that the waitress mentioned to us that she had ordered a special surprise for my sister which was their almond cake. As a gift from her. So to me that means that the dessert is on them. But surprisingly when I received the ticket the almond cake was on there. I did not feel like I really wanted to argue over the almond cake but as I stated the way she mentioned it to me is that she was covering the cake. So for that reason I did remove one star. Something that I really liked about this place was the bathroom. As a first time Mama i've noticed that many restaurants don't have a baby changing table. Or if they have a baby changing table it's very dirty. This place had a very awesome baby changing station. They had diapers, they had wipes, they had waste bags. You think of it and they had it! Mako's is a really nice restaurant! The staff was very friendly, the restaurant was nicely decorated and had great ambiance. The food and drinks we ordered were delicious. One of the previous reviews mentioned the Aunt Bees Knees being delicious so I decided to try it and it was really good. My wife got the salmon and I ordered the Pork Shoulder. The salmon was delicious (probably not worth $30 but it did taste very good) and the pork shoulder was also very good as well. One thing I will caution in regards to the pork shoulder is that it is very fatty. There was a lot of fat on the sides of the lean pork that added flavor for sure but wasn't very healthy. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and they were delicious. A lot of good flavor. We enjoyed our time at Mako especially since the staff was so nice. However, the price was really not worth it. I'm going to give it 5 stars bc there isn't a 4.5 star option and the experience was worth more than a 4 but I don't think I'd be coming back mainly because of the price of the food. It was good though; so if you don't mind paying extra then this is a good spot for date night or to enjoy a nice evening dinner. Overall: 4.5 stars read more

Came her for the first time and it was at a nice location with plenty of parking. Came her to celebrate a friend's birthday. Ambiance was nice and fancy with decors that can be for a semi-casual or fancy dinner. I loved it. We ordered frites by the cone which came with 3 different sauces to dip. Alcholic drinks were delicious and well made. I ordered the Harissa glazed pork should which was cooked perfectly! It had so much flavor. The couscous was well cooked and so flavorful that it balanced very well with the pork shoulder which was just so soft and tender. I loved it! There's nothing that I would change. I love the colors, but the flavor was just so amazing. I'm hooked! The chocolate cheesecake woth served with a tart blueberry sauce to offset the richness of the chocolate cheesecake, great balance. It was smooth, rich, and tart....overall, a perfect dessert to end the meal. Service was great, but I did ask for "happy birthday" to be written on the plate. Server said that they don't do it, but I could've sworn that I saw an image on yelp where they did do writings on plate. *confirmed* Server did say that they can add a candle which I said yes, please. But it came out with no candles...boo. Not as special as I would like. For such a fancy place, surely they have previous guests who were celebrating a special occasion and you'd think the restaurant would want to make it extra special. But, guess not. Nevertheless, it didn't ruin my experience there. I felt the menu was limited with selections but also the selections were all over the place. There were some southern options, Latin seafood options, Greek option, American....all over the place. It's a fun and adventurous menu, but would love more selections. Took one star off for that. Would I recommend, hell yes! It was a beautiful and wonderful experience. Food was flavorful. Would I come back, hell yes! I can't wait to try the other items. It's a bit pricier so I would come back once in awhile for a special treat. They do have happy hour but even that menu was more limited.
