We stopped into Stone Terrace Gastropub on a random Monday night and were honestly blown away. The beef flight was outstanding!! Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and a great way to try a variety of cuts. The lobster bisque was just as impressive; so rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The drinks were perfect!! we had a French 75 and an Old Fashioned, both expertly made and the perfect complement to the meal. On top of everything, the service was excellent. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Definitely didn't expect a Monday night to turn into such a great dining experience. I went for brunch on a Saturday. We tried a few items on their menu and shared between four of us. We started with the avocado toast crostini and the berry and goat cheese crostini. Both were very good. The avocado toast had a distinct lemon taste to it. The berry and goat cheese were excellent. The goat cheese, and the sweet berries made a great combination. For our main meals, we shared the eggs Benedict Trio, the Chilaquiles, the berry lemon croffle, and the banana foster French toast. The eggs Benedict Trio comes with a choice of three eggs Benedict from their menu. We had the original with Canadian bacon, the green chili pulled pork and the crabcake. Everyone loved the green chili pulled pork. The Chilaquiles came with your choice of red or green salsa. I chose the green one. It was a little spicy. It came with two eggs. I thought that it was missing some cheese. It could've also used a little bit more salsa. The banana foster French toast was to die for. Very good and definitely tastes like banana foster. The croffle was a great addition to our meal. We thought it was very good. Half of us had never had a croffle and now we are in love with them. They did give us a free desserts as we were celebrating my friend's birthday. For drinks I had the elderflower spritz. It's a little on the sweet side for me. The sangria was perfect. My friends had the bloody Mary and they liked them. They have inside and outside seating. They do take reservations. There's parking on site, but shared with the other businesses. We had a large party of 10 people, 8 adults and 2 children and had made a reservation in advance for a birthday party. Tables were set up with linens and tableware prior to our arrival which was greatly appreciated. Our server greeted us and took drink orders as we looked over our menus. Our entrees followed our drinks and all seemed happy enough with their choices. I had the Monte Cristo with French fries. The sandwich was meh, no real flavor of gooey cheese to ham or turkey ratio. I had the Denver omelette with home fries that was good sized and perfectly cooked. My wife's steak and eggs on muffins was undercooked for her but not for me. A Double Date That Was Triple Loud We recently visited Stone Terrace Gastropub for a double date, and while we were seated quickly by a kind hostess, the experience was overshadowed by the overwhelming noise. Between a large party, zero acoustic buffering, and a manager(?) belting out operatic "Happy Birthdays," in Italian, our conversation was a constant struggle. The cocktail menu was creative--though oddly presented on paper held together by metal rings. My Cucumber Cooler (with Hendrick's) was refreshing, and the Elote Old Fashioned was a hit. One friend's hibiscus mocktail fell flat, but she salvaged the night with a decent espresso martini. Appetizer highlights included the fried ravioli and baked feta (though I felt the tomatoes needed dicing). The calamari was crispy as advertised but bland. Most other dishes- not pictured because I was becoming overstimulated- missed the mark: cloying sweet drizzled prosciutto crostinis overwhelmed the flavor of the goat cheese and prosciutto beneath it, underseasoned entrees, and a burnt, bitter batch of Brussels sprouts alongside my dry salmon (although it was wild caught, which is a plus in my book). Even the properly cooked steaks lacked flavor, despite coming with chimichurri sauce. We skipped dessert, unimpressed with the rest of the meal. At $180 for two (with tip), it wasn't outrageous, and we appreciated the military discount--but the food didn't meet expectations, and the cacophonous atmosphere sealed the deal. I came here on a Saturday evening for a date night with my husband. They do have a large covered patio and a bar inside, but if you want to be seated at a table indoors, it's probably best to make a reservation. We were able to get a table without a reservation, but it was the only one available. The server was helpful and attentive and told us they also serve brunch and have kids menu for $5 that includes a drink, meal, and an ice cream sundae. We had a hard time deciding what to order since there were a lot of great sounding options, but we ordered the meatloaf dinner special which came with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. My husband loved the Brussels sprouts and he isn't even a fan of them. We also got the bacon wrapped shrimp and frites. The food was well prepared and full of flavor. We both enjoyed everything and agree it was one of the better meals we've had in the area lately. We will be back to try more for sure. read more

Wow this visit disappointed big time. Not sure if I will be returning again with their prices and this service and lack of quality. I loved this place before this visit. We came in for dinner and were sat on the patio at a cocktail table even though there were plenty of regular tables available. These seats are the most uncomfortable seats, they should not be in this nice restaurant. Our server took a long time to get to us though the host staff kept seating people all around us. We ordered the surf and turf platter to share with a few other side dishes and a cocktail. The lobster on the platter was so dried out that it wouldn't come out of the shell. My server never came back to ask how the food was even though it was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. I finally flagged her down after eating most of the food that was served and let her know about the lobster. She took it back to the kitchen and I am almost positive that they took the same old, overcooked lobster tail and dressed it up and added butter because it tasted like rubber. We went here for dinner the night before Valentines. It was surprisingly empty. I had the whiskey sour, it came quick and was delicious. My friend had a mango flavored cocktail that was also good, but not as good as the whiskey sour. I had the bruschetta chicken, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. My friend had the crab cake and shrimp Mac and cheese, also very good. The ambiance was just ok. Yesterday, we decided to try something new and went to @stoneterracegastropub for brunch. The reviews I read were mostly from their dinners but the brunch menu looked good so we wanted to check it out. The weather was perfect so we sat on the patio. Fair warning, their food portions are Texas-sized! Dad and I shared the French Flight, which was 3 different French Toasts: Classic French Toast, Strawberry Cream Stuffed French Toast, and Nutella Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast. Even though we shared, we still had leftovers to bring home! Hubby had the Waffle Flight, which 3 different waffles: 1/2 Classic Belgian Waffle, 1/2 order of Chicken N Waffle, and 1/2 Bacon Belgium Waffle. We ordered a Garden Salad with Lime Vinegarette dressing to share. I only had a few bites since there was so much food. Enjoyed it for dinner tonight. The dressing is fantastic. We met some friends here for an early Sunday night dinner after nearly a 20 year gap in seeing each other. Although we had reservations, it wasn't necessary as there were tables available, and the restaurant was about half full. Ordering the calamari for starters, was just the right way to get our night started. The appetizer was described as having a "fish stick" shape, but when it arrived, we had the feeling this is not an ordinary calamari dish. It glistened with some sort of glaze, and the taste was beyond delightful. I had the honey salmon which also had a similar glaze as the calamari. I've ordered plenty of salmon, prepared many different ways, but this one tops the chart for me. Perfecto! Wifey, had the wrapped shrimp which was delicious as well. Our friends had a pasta, and the seafood flight with lobster/seafood. From their feedback, a big thumbs up on the experience. The atmosphere is classy and upscale and would be a nice place for celebrating a special occasion, or for a romantic evening out. Our server was very friendly and kept our drinks filled without hesitation. We were able to spend several hours catching up without interruptions, or pressure to leave. The service was excellent, but that was the highlight. I have mixed feelings about the food. The charred grilled caesar was NOT it. It was super bitter and the slimy, warm lettuce was weird for me. I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth all night even after brushing my teeth back at home. The calamari was meh. The pieces were too thick and heavily breaded, and it needed a better sauce. The steak was really good though!! Cooked well and good quality. I'm not usually a fan of steak fries, but the truffle parm fries were good. Drinks were okay, nothing super special. Went there for Father's Day brunch and had to sit outside because we were told that the inside was full, but it was not. I think it was because we had a toddler, who was very well behaved. This Wine Pairing Dinner was absolutely amazing!!! If any of y'all have dined here, y'all know all the food on the menu is fantastic. We, the wife and I, were looking for a new experience in the Stone Oak area. We consulted Yelp and you guys led us to Stone Terrace Gastropub. We were early for dinner at 4:30. No reservations needed at that hour. Inside and outside options available. Mid December and outside dining is an option here...I love Texas...but we opted for inside. Only one other patron in the room. Lots of staff waited for the dinner rush. The inside was comfortable and quiet as our dining neighbor was alone and didn't talk to himself. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. The menu was deep with options but we wanted to split a meal (she wanted to split a meal and I gave in). The salmon with spinach, a side of honey chipotle Brussel sprouts, with an appetizer of a bread basket and oil. The meal was delicious. Salmon is more my fare than the wife's but if cooked properly, she's a fan. This was done well but the Brussels were the star of the meal. The combination of sweet and savory was incredible. Hidden gem. Wasn't super crowded for a Saturday. We had a party of 11 and we tried a bunch of stuff and loved it all. The bruschetta and baked feta were amazing. The calamari was probably the least favorite but just because it wasn't the typical calamari. Big, thicker pieces that were almost like tenders. Still very good but the fav. Entrees were beef Wellington's, crab cakes and lobster bisque, chicken piccata and probably the best bang for the buck was the pasta flight. All 3 items there were awesome. My closest friend here in San Antonio & I have been here a couple of times for lunch and it was great. The service was amazing, the service was top notch, the ambiance was quiet, relaxed & just what we wanted. The last time we went we didn't enjoy the food as much but we chalked it up to the chef having an "off" day. Then, she went back several times since for dinner (she lives a stone throw away), and it' was a disaster! The same dish she ordered during our lunch was a fail during and the whole experience was just not a good one. The steak someone else ordered was disappointing & after one bite they gave up. My wife and I were meeting up with a couple friends (AM & RM, for future reference) and meeting their new babies for the first time! Don't worry, their babies barely cried while we were there (and I would say if they were worse). They were super cute and inquisitive. Anyway! We were seated inside and indoors was maybe 60% full with some more patrons outside. My wife and I ordered the Cucumber Cooler cocktails and the Crispy Prosciutto & Goat Cheese Crostini's to start; our friends the Baked Feta, Dragon's Milk beer and another beer I didn't catch. Food and drinks came out in a timely manner. We demolished the prosciutto and goat cheese crostini's before I could snag a picture. Goat cheese, prosciutto, and bread? You can never go wrong with that combo! The baked feta kept us snacking, happy, and occupied while we waited for our entrees (hence why I got a picture halfway through!). The cucumber coolers were refreshing and gave AM drink envy so she decided to order one for her next drink after our entrees arrived. Note that AM enjoyed her beer as she's a dark beer fan, but the Cucumber Cooler was definitely more of the vibe for the weather. Unfortunately, this is where things took a turn for the worse. Everyone's food came out within a reasonable time, but R's food was lukewarm so he asked for it to be reheated. No biggie. My wife ordered the Beef Filet with Mushroom Risotto and I noticed she was picking at her food. When I asked her why, she said the filet was good, but the risotto was just too salty. A quick search makes me believe it was the gorgonzola [cream sauce] which can be salty if not balanced. I ordered the Red Wine Balsamic Filet Mignon and had no qualms. The description did say it was topped with tomatoes and I got a tomato, but that didn't bother me. The tang of the balsamic glaze was a wonderful contrast to the filet mignon and smoky, sweet char of the brussel sprouts. The garlic mashed potatoes also paired well. We waited well over 30 minutes for AM's Cucumber Cooler to arrive and when it did it had a [long] hair in it. At that point, she didn't want a different one, but instead ordered a second Dragon's Milk. That arrived quickly. Our server was super nice and apologetic. What turned us off to this experience was the long lag time between check ins. It appeared like there was an understaffing issue or undertrained staff. Again, the restaurant wasn't all tables full during our visit, but maybe it was large groups ordering at once or something? We don't claim to know what was wrong, but staff was definitely hectic. There was even a tray of dishes/glasses that were dropped, turning every head towards the bar when it happened. That in combination with the food and drink issues left us wanting better for my wife and friends (as my meal went largely untouched by this). This incident occurred late April, so hopefully the situation has improved. I'd be open to trying this restaurant again and giving them a better review. read more

This is my favorite local restaurant to support. The food is legit! Cass is a fantastic bartender and fun to talk to. We've been for happy hour and dinner multiple times throughout the week.
