    Family tray corn bread
    Sean D.

So not the greatest experience, for starters our waitress wasn't very attentive, the place wasn't too busy but I had to keep walking up to the counter to ask for things she didn't really check on us even when attending to tables close by. The staff for the most part were friendly. The establishment was nice, plenty of room and clean. The decor was modern and the vibe was chill. The food wasn't all bad the cornbread was fire and the fried pickles were delicious but the pork chop was not it. The breading fell off easily and the Mac and cheese had no taste. My wife got the monte cristo sandwich and it was overly breaded, she tore most of it off. 20 min after eating I was in the restroom and it was coming out both ends. I'm sure this was a one off but it was my experience, I hate to dog on the place but it left me sick as hell. Probably never coming back.

This was my first time at Mr. C's Chicken & Waffles, but it will not be my last time. The food was delicious, delivered hot right off the stove. I absolutely love chicken fried chicken and theirs was beautifully crispy with a light and flavorful gravy. The service was great and the ambiance was very relaxed. If you have not gone to Mr. C's then go now, you will not be disappointed.

Tried out this new location of Mr. C's this week for both dinner and brunch. I actually didn't know they had another location over on the West side of town, but I sure am glad they decided to open up near me! Went for dinner the first time with my mom, and we had a great experience. The place wasn't busy (they just opened I think a few days ago, so no one knows they are there yet) so we were able to sit wherever we liked. We were promptly served by Wes, who was super sweet if a little soft spoken (hard to hear him at times). It was a brisk evening, so I got some coffee to warm up. The coffee was smooth and delicious, I really enjoyed my 2 cups. For my meal I ordered the tenders and waffles (of course) and my mom ordered the biscuits and gravy plate. They gave us complimentary cornbread, and we definitely nommed that while waiting on our food. The cornbread has a rich, deep flavor and is served with whipped butter to spread on top. Our food didn't take too long to come out since it wasn't busy. My plate looked delicious, but my one teensy criticism is that the chicken was fried a little light, it needed more time in the fryer (it was cooked through, but just) and the breading had a tendency to slide off the chicken. However, it tasted wonderful, and the waffle (I upgraded to cinnamon) was a delight. The biscuits and gravy stole the show, however. The biscuits are HUGE and fluffy. Just absolute clouds of pillowy bread smothered with a unique gravy that tasted almost of chicken broth (it was SO GOOD) with a heaping side of perfectly fried potatoes and some scrambled eggs. Needless to say, neither of us finished our meals, I do love having leftovers to nosh on later in the week. Bang for the buck was right on, considering the portion sizes. I liked my meal so much that I came back for brunch the next morning with my husband! The second visit was still good, but not as good as the night before. I don't know if it was a different cook than the night before, but the food was very, very oily in the morning. Everything still tasted good (my husband got chicken fried steak and eggs and I got a Cali omelette) but there was oil dripping off the eggs and forming a pool, and oozing out of my omelette from the sauteed veggies. I ended up having to use a napkin to soak out some of oil. Again, everything still tasted good, but that much oil was just totally unnecessary. They just opened, so there is a learning curve to be expected. We will still be back, and I hope they can reign in whichever cook felt the need to fully lubricate the griddle, lol.

    Chicken and waffle

Listen. I came in hungry, hopeful, and ready to be wowed. What I got was a chicken and waffle dish that looked like it was doing community service. The chicken? So pale and unseasoned, I'm convinced it was raised on boiled air and polite conversation. The waffle tasted like it was made by someone who said, "You know what people love? Mediocrity." If you've ever stayed at a Holiday Inn and made a waffle in one of those janky flip machines using batter from a cup that wobbles like your cousin's last relationship--that's the vibe. BUT. The sweet tea? Oh baby. That sweet tea was spiritual. I'm talking nectar-of-the-Southern-Gods level. I would fight a bear for another glass. Customer service? Impeccable. The staff was so friendly, I felt like I was eating at my auntie's house--if my auntie couldn't cook. The music? FIRE. I nearly started a TikTok dance in the booth. And the restaurant? Spotless. You could've eaten that waffle off the floor, but... don't. Trust me. Come for the tea, stay for the playlist, tip your server, and bring your own seasoning.

I've been wanting to try Mr. C's Chicken and Waffles and finally got the chance. It did not disappoint. When I walked in I was greeted promptly and brought a menu. The restaurant is clean, the music set the right tone. This was my first visit but it won't be my last.

The food was delicious. I chicken with green beans did not disappoint. Yummy with bits of ham. We had the fried chicken and cornbread. Everything tasted fresh, the onion rings were excellent.

Absolutely love this restaurant, it's my daughter's favorite! You can never go wrong with chicken and waffles especially when you get to choose different flavors of waffles like red velvet or cinnamon! I always go in knowing I'm getting the #7 with thighs, a cinnamon waffle and two sides of okra, and if they have it their Watermelon lemonade!

The building is easy to find, situated next to Randolph Dental and across the street from Take 5 Oil Change. Parking is straightforward. The restaurant shares an outdoor lot with several neighboring businesses, and there was plenty of parking directly in front, including clearly marked handicapped spaces, plus an additional row across from the restaurant. Inside, the space is open, comfortable, and very clean. The interior seating is well maintained, and staff were consistently attentive to keeping the dining area tidy throughout the visit. The setup feels relaxed and inviting, and it is also nice to see that outdoor seating is available if you prefer fresh air. The food was excellent. I ordered the veggie omelette with added avocado and turkey, which was savory and well balanced. The hash browns were well seasoned with a good pepper profile, and the white chocolate latte stood out in particular. It did not have the artificial syrup aftertaste that is common at many places, which made it especially enjoyable. Service is what truly made the visit stand out. Jacqueline was friendly, attentive, and helpful from start to finish. She checked in at the right moments, answered questions without rushing, and kept everything running smoothly. As a thoughtful bonus, I was also given an extra pastry, which was a pleasant surprise and a great example of genuine hospitality. If you are looking for a casual breakfast or coffee spot with a clean environment, quality food, and staff who clearly care about the customer experience, Biscuit House is well worth a visit. Keep up the great work, Jacqueline and Biscuit House Schertz.

But once we sat down, it made sense. Everything is made to order, and you can taste the difference. There was only one server handling the entire floor, and when a rush hit all at once, it definitely got busy fast. But here's the thing... she handled it with grace. Even when you could tell she was juggling a lot, she stayed attentive, kind, and kept checking in on us. That kind of effort deserves recognition. Now let's talk about the real star of the show... The Texas French Toast. Oh. My. Goodness. Thick, golden, perfectly cooked slices topped with homemade whipped cream and fresh berries that tasted like they were picked that morning. It wasn't just good, it was indulgent in the best way. Sweet without being overwhelming. Rich but balanced. I couldn't even finish it (which says a lot), and happily boxed the rest up. The only regret? I ate all the berries first. Rookie mistake. My husband ordered one of the hash plates and said it was solid comfort food... hearty, flavorful, and filling. He couldn't finish his either, so I'm definitely sneaking a few bites later. Overall, we left impressed. The food feels intentional. The flavors feel thoughtful. It's the kind of local spot you want to root for. And the fact that they serve pork lumpia for lunch? Say less. We'll be back for that. If you're looking for a cozy, made-from-scratch brunch spot in Universal City, this one is worth the wait. Good food takes time, and this place proves it. ***This review is based on my taste buds.
